Food is great. Portions are generous. Priced reasonably. Our waitress was awesome. However, one of the staff was very rude to us while we were waiting to be called. We were sitting in two chairs in the waiting area, and this staff member comes to us and says "stand up." We do and then he takes the chairs away saying nothing else. This place is great, but no one should be treated like that. That's the reason for deducting two stars.

I’ve been to Yolk several times here in Chicago, and back home in Fort Worth, Texas. Unfortunately today at this location (one of which I’ve never dined at) I order the chicken and waffles. I’m cutting my chicken only to notice it’s tough and rubbery. I look down and the inside was still pink. Not raw, just under cooked. My eggs were runny and slimy even after asking and repeating I’d like them “scrambled hard, dry, burnt whatever you would like to call it” I had to send them back only to receive what seemed to be tossed back on the griddle so that some brown could appear and then underside still runny and slimy. The men’s room at the urinal was gross. Urine was all over the floor, urine stains everywhere I didn’t even want to touch anything. Wasn’t a pleasurable dinning experience for me especially since I had a hunger headache and couldn't even eat. I didn’t consult a manager as I didn’t have the fight in me, but this review should suffice.

Besides the long wait time for our take out order, Alexis, the woman who greets and updates the customers on their wait times at the counter, was so rude to us. I had asked her if there was any jam since we had a take out order, in which she told me to check the bags. We looked through the bags, and we couldn't find any, so I asked her if I can have some. She tells me in a very rude tone that I need to ask the other staff since she can't move from the front counter. Although, staying there she didn't want to help us either. She was browsing social media on her phone and she couldn't help any of us, as customers, nor any of her team members. It was such a disappointing experience at The Yolk as tourists, and I would never recommend this specific location to other tourists. I reported this incident to her superior, and I hope they really do reconsider putting a different staff member at the front counter to greet customers and to represent The Yolk.

They have drastically reduced their portions. When I ordered the cinnamon roll French toast all I got was a tiny roll about the 1/3rd the size of a cinnabon for 12.99. I remember them being bigger and serving 2 or 3. Also 5 egg omelette was the size or a 2 egg omelette. The food was ok but very expensive for what you get.

Excellent food, with good service. Food is hot, plentiful, tasty and they serve all the extras when the meal is brought out. Prices at this location are higher than they are in Texas, but this is downtown Chicago after all. Tables are clean, decor is modern and has a light airy feel to it. Stop in and treat yourself to a fine breakfast, you won't be sorry and you won't go away hungry. My experience on a weekday was fast service, no waiting in line. Sunday's may be different. Check it out friends.

Not my best Yolk experience. It was jam packed and loud. Food came out quick, but eggs weren't fully cooked. Wasn't worth the time to have them remake. Ate around runny eggs and got on the road home. Staff was nice. Very clean for how busy they were. I'll try them again. Could have been an off day.

I was very happy with my breakfast here. We got there a little late on a Sunday and it was jamming. We put our name on the list and got our table when they said we would. Even though everyone was moving in fast forward, we had very attentive service. The menu definitely had something for you.

No complaints on the food. On our last visit, however, there was no air-conditioning and it was 80 degrees outside and likely even warmer where we were sat, near the line. Not sure if it wasn't working or if they don't have any, but it was uncomfortable to eat hot food in a hot room.

Very good food! Can be extremely busy so would recommend checking in online before you go. The one thing I would recommend is for them to offer alcoholic beverages like mimosas and bloody Mary's and brunch is best with those options. Other then that I would highly recommend!

This! Is! Brunch!!!! Oh my. This is the brunch place of my dreams. From simple stuff like eggs and bacon, to Mexican breakfast like chilaquiles, to fruity French toast, to skillet breakfast, to potato bacon pancakes, to churro pancakes!!! Oh gosh the list goes on, it really does. So glad my friends recommended yolk because it killed the brunch game. I’ll be thinking about it for a long time, no doubt about it. I loved our server too, she made the morning even that much brighter, even when it was cold and windy and rainy. She had so much energy! Just like this place as a whole. The food was amazing. I’m upset I didn’t have every last bite. But one day I will come back. And I will devour the menu. One day. Wait for me. However, I must say that the only complaints I have is that it’s much too small! So many people want brunch and they want it now!!! Also, there’s only one bathroom stall for women and one for men. This place is always busy, so uh.... you’d think they’d have an actual restroom? No complaints other than that. Really truly. Kills the brunch game.

This place has phenomenal food. We were only in Chicago for 2 and a half days, but we ate here twice! We had breakfast and lunch on separate days. We had absolutely no complaints about anything! Yolk is a good place to grab a bite. All the food is pretty evenly priced compared to other breakfast spots in the area. The service is generally good but sometimes you can get a bit of attitude from the greeters. It is downtown Chicago so don't expect the "Midwest" attitude everywhere down here people. The only major negative to Yolk is the coffee. For the love of Christ please buy a Keurig or switch it up. Overall all though Yolk is a good place to eat if you a tourist of Chicago or just a local looking for a quick bite.

This is without any doubts the place where I had the best breakfast I've ever had in the USA so far. Please try the Croque Madame, a French toast sandwich with grilled ham, turkey, cheese, topped with an egg and potatoes. It's truly amazing! I would come here again but unfortunately I'm leaving today. Great job guys. Keep it up.

Very nice place to eat. Get there before the rush and it’s not as loud and chaotic. The corned beef and potatoes is delicious. The French toast is easily enough for 2 people. Service is prompt and friendly. Sometimes overly-prompt and overly-friendly. I’ll definitely go again if I’m in the area.

Great place for breakfast or brunch in the downtown area. For solo travelers it's great cause you don't have to wait for hours to get a table. You can sit on the bar area. The menu options are delicious, options for everyone. The pancakes and french toast are fabulous. Coffee is good as well. I started to notice that all places highlighted by Google are always overcrowded. I dont think I will be using google guide to pick the places to eat from now on. The place as you can guess was hella packed with an hour wait. Food is pretty good but nothing extraordinary and is not worth to wait an hour to be honest. There are bunch of places which are not overrated by Google. So quite dissappointed by Google guides.

One of the best breakfast/brunch spots in Chicago. A wide array of classics such as Eggs Benedict and Chicken & Waffles, but also offering a wide array of baked goods and seasonal specialties like the Autumn Cakes. Their Habanero Hot Sauce is also very good for those with an appetite for good flavorful spicy sauces.

The best breakfast spot in Chi hands down, you won't find a better place than this one. The food is amazing, loads of breakfast choices, coffee is tasty and they have decaf choices for those in need. The decor in this restaurant is relaxing and make your entire breakfast experience better. The location is also perfect, just under Trump tower, 5 minutes walk to Michigan Avenue. The price is fairly reasonable, omelette avg 10 dollars, bacon eggs and sausage avg 10 dollars, coffee is 2. I come here very often after school ,highly recommend

Yolk was my first breakfast in Chicago and it did not disappoint one bit. The service is absolutely amazing, the food options are very good and diverse. Especially enjoyed the potatoes and the eggs Benedict. The oatmeal is very tasty with fresh blueberries. Only downside is the coffee, which isn't very good. Tea is great though.

Great service and food. Got the loaded bacon waffles (decent amount of bacon, but definitely not "loaded") one day and they were good, and the next day got the cinnamon roll french toast which was also really good (I would have liked a deeper egg soak, but that's a personal preference). Two weekdays in a row, in at 7 and out before 8am, so good place for a speedy sit-down breakfast.

We went on a Saturday morning and were able to join the waitlist through the Yelp app before heading to the restaurant. Upon checking in at the restaurant, we waited less than 10 minutes for our table. Our waitress was prompt, attentive and took great care of us. The portions were huge and the food was hot. I had the frittata which came with pancakes and my husband had the burrito with cheesy grits. Everything was excellent.

This was our first and last time at Yolk. We've always heard great things about Yolk so we figured we'd try them out and the experience was TERRIBLE. There was a 1 to 1 1/2 hour wait for 9 adults and since we were on a time constraint, we decided to just order to go. Can you believe it took them 1 hour to cook our food?! The food wasnt even warm by the time we got it and honestly the food was not even that good. Very plain and bland, something you can just cook yourself at home. Secondly, the service we received was terrible especially from Alexis, who was the one responsible for taking down people's names and putting them on the waiting list for a table. I understand that she "cant go or move anywhere" as she told us but does she really need to be THAT rude? We asked her for help and she straight up told us that she could not help us and that we had to ask someone else because she could not move from the corner that she was at. She literally told us that she couldnt help us only to go back on her phone and browse Facebook. She also told my husband to move away from the front counter so that she can "greet" people yet my husband wasnt even in her corner. Alexis' attitude and unwillingness to help customers was bad enough to where we will never return to Yolk. Everyone is better off going to Wildberry Pancakes Cafe. Service and food there is so much better!

It was my first time when manager apologized for long waiting for order taking and serving (I was with two kids, and I didn't realized how much time we waited). As the result, we we're charged only for drinks. Breakfast was delicious (I chose Ironman omelette)! Definitely worth to come again.

If you are going to ruin a Croquet Madame with dipping it in a cinnamon and sugar batter, you should inform the customer- either by putting on menu or train waiters to inform. And waitress should be more available after food is served to ensure I’m happy with the order... which I was not but ate any way because she took so long to come back. Had to take sandwich apart and gagged my way through it.

Food was good. Server was prompt and gracious. However, when we walked in for breakfast there was extremely loud music playing. The manager and five servers were slouched over booths and tables right at the front of the house, feet up, dirty dishes everywhere. The manager did get up to great us, but then the hostess came up and said, "oh, she'll take care of you.". Then he sat right back down with all the other servers, stretched out full length in his too short shirt, exposing his belly. VERY poor first impression. They all eventually cleaned up before they got busier. Still, if a dining room is open, the manager, especially, should act like it

Not good at service. Basically they dount care if you are comfortable with your seat or not. I had a child with me and my wife and they wanted to seat us in the way of the kitchen where all servers pass by with full trays of food. On top of that they wanted us to keep the child to the side of the table not even on a chair away from the walkway. Knowing that half of the place is empty at the time I visited. And when I requested to be moved to a table far from the kitchen, the response was we cant have you move if you are uncomfortable with this seat you can just leave. I ended up leaving and going somewhere else where they actually care to seat you where you like to be seated.

Great service and very good coffee, however the South of the Border Benny was exceptionally disappointing. The mixture of ingredients originally sounded interesting on the menu (and I adore eggs Benedict), but their proportional use was horrible. It was two tiny English muffins drowned in what must've been at least a half a pound of chorizo, an ingredient that must be used judiciously to create balanced flavor. Two tiny poached eggs, a drizzling of chipotle hollandaise sauce, and a sprinkling of fresh cilantro was no match for the chorizo. I mean, you could've poured motor oil on top of this concoction and the only thing you still would've tasted is chorizo. Hard pass.

Yolk was recommended to us as one of the better places to eat in Chicago for breakfast. It was pretty disappointing. It was simply classed-up IHOP, just 50% more expensive. The service was good, and there wasn't anything wrong with the food. It was just nothing special and expensive. Breakfast was $42, after tip --- that didn't include alcohol, (they don't serve any) and we didn't order anything extravagant from the menu. There are many other, better options for good food at that price in the neighborhood.

Beautiful place for our Mother’s Day brunch. Waiter was extremely helpful and friendly throughout the whole visit. Wait was a little long but it’s understandable considering the date, popularity, and quality of the food. Also located right next to the House of Blues which was a fun little addition
