This Coffee Shop corresponds to the category of Brunch restaurant.
It is good, but not the best. They don't have cocktails. I personally liked wildberry a lot more than Yolk. The wait times are very less here.
Staff was readily able to answer my questions about the menu and help me avoid gluten.
The 5 egg iron man omelette was amazing and everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. Their house coffee really hit the spot too.
Good food and quick serves. Weird smell when you walk in
A very good place for breakfast. A bit crowded on weekends but they have their own coffee and it is better than most. I had Joe as a waiter and he was very good at his job. They even offer raw sugar for their coffee drinkers. The meal was very good. I am a retiree and the menu is about $2 ti high for me to be a regular but as a special treat sometimes, it is a good thing.
Pancakes were delicious
Delicious assortment of breakfast and lunch fare. Loved the California Omelette filled with smashed avocado. Also enjoyed the Banana Nut Bread french toast!
Friendly, smiling big faces greet you, lots of tasty food to enjoy. A nice place for breakfast and always a pleasure to dine here.
So many delicious choices!
Food is average and the atmosphere kinda gloomy at times ..the one downtown is better
I ordered a cheeseburger with no bun that came with french fries and a pickle. My plate must have sat under a heat lamp for too long because my pickle was warm and my lettuce was somewhat wilted and soggy. and the Restroom was very dirty. That was the real turn off
This place is always a good choice!
Good breakfast and lunch spot. Staff was fantastic, food was good and a decent value.
Had a nice waitress and a good atmosphere but the food was comparable to the likes of Denny's at three times the price. It's amazing they are packed on weekends... Chicago can do better.
Big portion sizes and perfect weekend brunch spot !
Loved yolk! It was a little busy and the wait was long but the food was worth it!
Great atmosphere, good food & coffee. Our waitress was awesome. High priced for the food!
Server did his best. Went 2 hours before closing so it was not great.
Live the juice, but the portion is so small.
Great service even though it was Sunday crowded. Excellent pancakes.
Food is consistently great, usually pretty packed around mid-morning.
Just moved to the neighborhood so stopped in for brunch. The place was packed, so they must be doing something right. The service was great, quick, and attentive. The portions were large and the food was good.
A great place for breakfast! First time here and I'll definitely pay it another visit when I can! The Farm House was amazing with excellent sausage gravy.
The food was delicious. There was a leak in the roof but I was as bleeding to get another table even though it was very crowded
Large portions, good food. Long wait on weekend mornings, so plan accordingly
The whole place was packed for brunch, but we got in very quickly without a reservation. Food was delicious. Waitress was busy, so she wasn't super attentive but very friendly and helpful when we asked her for things. Strawberry orange juice was delicious!
The food & the service was excellent great atmosphere friendly i really liked the experience
Excellent service and a delicious variety of choices. The strawberry orange juice alone is worth the trip. (Please bottle it!) The Benedict Caprese is brilliant, but there are so many other amazing options, I wish they had a buffet so I could try all of them! I will definitely return.
Delicious! Great for breakfast or lunch. Very busy on the weekends, but that's because it's very nice.
Best breakfast that I have had in a long time. Excellent!
Yolk always knocks it out of the park with brunch. It's affordable, tasty, and they have gluten free toast if you ask (but it is a shared toaster, so this may not be an option for those on a very strict gluten free diet due to celiac disease).
First timer and last timer...my scrambler dish was cold, potatoes were somewhat soggy...not sure why...no creamer on the table , only one choice on sugar set on the table ...I did appreciate the great customer service offered by our young waitress...but we didn't receive the one order of toast either...not a great first impression...
Must try breakfast in Lincoln Park. Ordered scrambled eggs with pan cakes and diced potato.. everything was cooked just the way it should be. The portion size is big so start small.
Breakfast was good, took an egg Benedict was cooked perfectly, our waitress was very nice and had good vibes, which effects the overall experience to 5 stars, would return here again keep up with the good service
Pretty expensive but good food and service.
Excellent service from Emily! Food great!
huge dishes! amazing breakfast! don't come hungry.. seriously amazing!
Good food and quick serves. Weird smell when you walk in
Beyond busy on weekend bring. Food took 1 he to arrive to our table. It was so embarrassing that the manager comped half our meal. Not sure this location is to be recommendable.
The food was quite good, and the service was excellent. The restaurant smelled funky because of the construction nextdoor. But it's hardly their fault.
Strawberry Orange juice was a nice starter. Food portions are very generous!!
Great for casual dining
Breakfast was delicious. One of a kind. I got the Santa Fe Fritatta which was baked. It was amazing! Ambiance is chill and relaxing. Definitely recommend.
Our waitress was awesome, she kept her cool and was very patient with me while I was dealing with sleepy and hungry 5 and 3 year olds. Food was great, restaurant was clean. I love it when you walk in and all the wait staff is smiling and welcoming.
The staff was great and the food was AMAZING!!
Modern menu. Really large serving. Excellent service!
Can get crowded on Sunday's but the food is great
A lot of pretty good food at a reasonable price
Great food, and our server, Anthony, was attentive, professional and all together wonderful!
This place was great, and their custom hot sauce was really good and I forgot to buy some
Great spot for breakfast in Lakeview. The staff is always welcoming and delivers prompt service. They have a lot of options to accommodate all allergies and diet choices. They offer Canyon Bakehouse gluten free bread here which is a huge plus in my book.
Overall, a below average brunch experience. The plates were dirty when they came out, and the jars the strawberry orange juice came in were very small (and this overpriced). The chicken and waffles were good, but they did not have much sausage gravy on them. The worst part, though, where the Nutella crepes. The dish has three crepes, but only one crepe had any Nutella, and only about one teaspoon’s worth. I had heard great things about this place, but unfortunately I won’t be back. Our server was nice though!
Good breakfast. Nice selection and reasonable prices (average for the city). The service was great and fast. The chicken and waffle with egg was very good!
Modern menu. Really large serving. Excellent service!
Excellent food. My husband and I got there before it got crowded.
Go and get the Hey Ricky. My favorite omelette in the city. Their hot sauce is very flavorful, their potatoes are some of the best around in terms of texture and seasoning. More than that they get you in quick even in peak business hours on Saturdays and Sundays, whereas a lot of places in LP/Lakeview have massive waits.
Yolk is my best Breakfast restaurant. HEY RICKY omelet and Countryside Skillet are my favorite. However, the meals comes with TWO side of your choice. The staff are very welcoming and friendly.
Food is absolutely delicious and the service is great! So many good things on the menu to choose from. Highly recommend!!
Hmmmm I can still taste the Red Velvet French Toast or maybe I'm imagining it, it was that good.
Cute place ! Amazing food ! Great service ! If your in the area you must stop in.
Great place for weekend brunch!! My only issue with Yolk is the continuous hoard of people when you first walk in. People waiting to pay, sit or put their name in for a table is always a confusing swarm of people not know where to stand.
Seated quickly, server was very attentive and friendly (Becca), and food was delicious.
Always a wait but they move quickly. You can download their app to reserve seating.
The food was a little overpriced, but overall pretty good. The coffee on the other hand was super acidic. Despite everyone else's reviews, our service wasn't great, and we felt pushed to order more. Wouldn't go back - maybe would be willing to try another location that didn't have sticky syrup covering every surface.
I was not impressed. Slow service. Over-priced. Mediocre food. $7 for a medium sized bowl of thin oatmeal (fruit is extra). $14 for a grilled chicken sandwich that was refrigerator cold (it was supposed to be hot). I won't be going back.
The food and service are always great! Everything is delicious! Don't forget to try treir home made sauce.
A little tight but excellent food on a Sunday afternoon!
Always a wait, but this is a really nice place! Be prepared to wait 30 to 55 minutes tho. Better for parties 4 and below
Favorite go-to breakfast place! Great portions, awesome food, well-served!
Great tasting food!!
Amazing chicken and waffles! The cinnamon roll French toast was so delicious and they had some of the best cheese grits I've ever eaten. Service was good, not too crowded, and a good spot for brunch and conversation with friends. Have always come back for the croque madame! It's super sweet, packed with turkey and ham, and one of favorites.
Delicious! My sister and I stopped in for a late breakfast. This was our first visit and we both have nothing but good things to say about Yolk. Service was warm and friendly. It was hard to decide on what to order, everything sounded so good! Our food were generous proportions and scrumptious! Will come back again!
Expensive but nice brunch. I recommend the red velvet cakes.
Decent food, but the service was unfortunately not good. Waitress was nice, but did not come by very often. 2/3 orders were wrong.
It is an ok place for breakfast. Nothing different than a pancake house. Loud music in this location. They helped us to accommodate a big group very kindly.
Very good breakfast and brunch. The wait gets very long during peak hours, so plan accordingly. The food is totally worth it though. The prices are reasonable and the staff is very responsive. You won't be disappointed here.
Excellent food, friendly staff, very good variety of menu options
Tasty,,and very nice service
Visited for breakfast on a Friday morning. An omelette with avocado is an interesting and delicious idea. I also loved this month's special -- two pancakes with yogurt and lots of berries. The service was very welcoming and friendly.
I took my boyfriend and mother here for breakfast. The food was delicious and service was great. The tea was loose leaf and it was too notch. I've been doing a very specific diet and was kind of anxious about traveling with restrictions, but their menu had options for me that were delicious! Anthony, our server, was very friendly and accommodating. He was very personable and attentive. We had a good time!
Each time I'm in Chicago, a brunch at yolk is a must!
Amazing service! The staff were so friendly and helpful. The meal was a delicious blend of all my favourite foods. Although they didn't have WiFi, which is not ideal for travellers.
The food is amazing, but I had to downgrade them after giving them 5 stars earlier. I had an awful carryout experience, in that they refused to let me carryout. I placed my order and they cancelled it, without telling me why. I called to find out, and the answer was that the kitchen is backed up. That's a reason to delay my order, not to refuse it. If you're too busy, then don't accept the order in the first place. This place has an app, specifically to allow for online ordering, and my first experience in using the app is to have my order cancelled. I know they often have a wait for a table, which was why I was ordering online for carryout. Again, amazing food, but in this instance, awful service.
Awesome brunch spot! My boyfriend and I went when it was super busy, but we still got seated within 5 minutes of arrival. Our server was Ryan, he was very friendly, attentive, and always made sure our coffee was full. The menu is pretty big and has something for everyone, but I highly recommend their 5 egg omelettes or peanut butter French toast! Can't wait to come back!
Amazing food!!
Overrated. Recommended if you don't want to think too much for brunch.
fun entree options and an upbeat atmosphere! been here many times and they always deliver. and it's byob so bring a bottle of champagne and make some mimosas with their tasty orange juice! if not looking for an alcohplic option, also a great place for all ages and group varieties as well - bring your family, your boss, or your significant other! and enjoy!
Yolk is great. The menu wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but I built my own skillet, and it was everything I was hoping for. Expect a little wait if you come here, but it's always worth it. Bonus: they have a new signature hot sauce. It's essentially Tabasco sauce with a small mix of Cholula. It's not bad. Definitely holds it's own as far as hot sauces go.
Super impressed and very good food! From out of town and enjoyed the restaurant atmosphere, enjoyed the food, and had really good customer service.
Good food, great avacados
Great place for Breakfast! Friendly service!
We love Yolk! One of out favorite breakfast spots in Chicago by far. Always fresh, trendy flavors, healthy options, big portions, appropriately priced. Homemade hot sauce is a plus. We love the Habanero Sauce and always buy a bottle to take home.
Over priced / small portions... skillet was unimpressive.
Long wait, very hot and loud.
Fun place, good food.
Awesome breakfast. And the service is excellent
Awesome omelet
Amazing food! Make sure to get in line through the nowait app. The wait times are longer in the morning. Yolk has always been my brunch place when I'm in the city. Never could finish what I ordered.
Great service, large portions but decently priced, also some really good food
Decent breakfast food.
The service was super friendly, but we thought the food was sort of blah. They could use some spices and herbs in their potatoes and the bagel they put their breakfast sandwich on could use some more thought.
Consistent with high quality ingredients. The yogurt is delicious.
Wonderful food and wonderful service! While visiting Chicago, my friends and I ate here two mornings in a row. Both meals were phenomenal! What you need to know: the side of pancakes is HUGE! Like, enough for a meal. So if you're with someone else, and only want a little pancake, share with your friend! The orange strawberry juice is to-die for. That is all. Ok... General review stuff... When we came in the first morning, the overhead music was playing in addition to the kitchen staff playing music. We asked for only one sound, with a preference for the salsa music that the kitchen staff was listening to. Boom. A minute later we had just salsa. Sweet. The next morning, they were playing techno music, which was a bit much at 7am. We asked if they could hook us up with salsa instead and boom! Salsa is what we got. Gotta love it. Every bit of food we had was amazing. Seriously, you can't go wrong here.
Very busy, but the quality of food and servicw was worth it. The two artists in our group has fun drawing for the eggs posted on the wall
Get there early on a Sunday because this is a busy place, but rightfully so. The food is excellent and service attentive. It gets noisy because so many people are in there talking, but you can always choose a less popular time. It is definitely worth it!
Great coffee and good vegetarian options
Came here for brunch with my friends. Pretty average brunch place. Was nice that we came in and were sat down immediately. Ended up getting the pot roast benedict, which I enjoyed for a benedict because it was not the usual meats paired in one.
They have their own signature hot sauce I enjoyed the fact that they have a veggieburger and everyone is so happy in there. But I think forgot to give me fries.
I love this place every time I go. The servers are very friendly, it’s super reasonably priced, and the food is delicious. The portions are pretty substantial, but that just means you get second breakfast later!
Great food in a casual neighborhood place
Was in Chicago visiting a friend and grabbed breakfast here. Ordered the special pancakes, which were carrot cake, along with eggs and bacon. It took about 45 minutes to receive our food. The server let us know that something had to be remade so the food would be delayed. The food finally arrived and was delicious. The manager came over, unprompted, and apologized for the delay and gave me a discount on my meal which was pretty nice. Bottom line is sometimes things happen in the kitchen and stuff gets mixed up. The server communicated right away, the food was great, and the manager made it right. Would definitely recommend trying Yolk out.
Horrible customer service! Make sure you check your order before you leave because its a big possibility you will have something missing you paid for. This has happened to me three times. I never leave bad reviews but this is warranted. The last time it happened l ordered the Flame burger, only to find out it was just a cheeseburger. Then when l took it back staff had an attitude and never apologized for the mistake. Bottom line, if you order from this location be sure to check your order.
Good service but to food was not served hot
Nice place, great service..food is pretty good too!
The staff here is very friendly like no other location. I like their food it was better when they first open this location. I been going for years already.
Ask for the potatoes fried, way better
This could've been 5 stars. I have been to Yolk a few times, but not this location. I love the food. It's absolutely delicious! This visit, the food was fabulous and the waiter was kind and on top of things, but it wasn't busy. My bill was just under $40 and I only had $20s, so I gave him $60 to get change for the tip. Needing to be somewhere, I left a tip and didn't realize until later that he had not given me the change from the bill. So he helped himself to his own tip and got a real tip from me. I doubt this is common practice, but something to watch out for at this location. Disappointing. We're all trying to get by in this world...did you really need my $3.54?
Our service was great and the food was good.. Two stars comes from the lady wearing the yellow suspenders.. I watched her sit down at the bar in front of the cooks eat her meal, get up throw her dishes in the tub, and started handeling food. Mind you she's still chewing. I then watched her take off her baseball cap and run her fingers thru her hair and continue handling food.. She never washed her hands the the entire time I was there.. Imagine what's happening behind the scenes.. DISCUSTING!!!
I ordered breakfast for my husband and myself. We enjoyed EVERYTHING the eggs, sausages, pancakes, ham, my WORKS of omelets along with a bowl of AWESOME chili. On our next trip, I WILL return to Yolk!
Food was amazing. Waitress was awesome. Great atmosphere.
A great neighborhood spot for breakfast, much better than the various other incarnations that this restaurant location has assumed over the past decade. In the early mornings, the place is full with runners, seniors, and young families. Later in the morning, once the rest of the neighborhood wakes up, it gets super packed. But worth the wait. I prefer this location to all the other Yolk locations.
Food and service were great. Went on a Monday morning about 10 am and missed any rush.
Food is good. But maaaaan! The potatoes issue seems like it will never get fixed. No matter how many times you send them burnt refried stale potatoes back they will never get you a fresh ones. This didn't happen one or twice. It's on a regular basis. I've been there so many times and things is going downhill. I started looking for other spots and I have to let go this one (was my all time favorite). I politely told the waiter that I just got tired of it and he seems to extremely understand but can't do anything about it. Thanks!
Great food and it wasn't too busy when we got there
Ordered the Santa Fe Frittata and it was amazing. Big portion and came with 2 huge pancakes. Definitely worth the trip.
Really liked the breakfast here, and despite being busy, service was quick and friendly.
Fantastic food selection. Yolk will not let you down. Friendly staff that work hard, friendly environment, and great food, the perfect trifecta.
I make it a point to eat here every time I'm in the city. . The food is exceptional. The staff are slow sometimes. Make sure to make reservations in tourist season.
Long wait for weekend brunch but worth it. The food was amazing. Everything made from scratch and choices galore. Something to suit any eater. Will definitely return when I am in Chicago again.
Waited forever when there were empty tables and the food was so average it was painful to pay that much money for it.
Great place to hang out and sip some mimosas! Good food!
We should have left the second we got a whiff of the bad smell that wafted all over the West corner of the restaurant. As we questioned our (very sweet and very obliging) waitress, she mentioned that, yes indeed, the sewer smell is worse on some days than others and she suggested that we move to the other side of the restaurant that doesn't smell. We should not have ignored that first sign because our experience did not improve. The coffee was watery and bitter and the food was just weird. My Croque Madame was made with sweetened cinnamon French toast. An awful combination. My daughter's Santa Fe eggs benedict "tasted funny". Indeed she vomited her intake a couple hours later. Avoid!!!
I really am in love with their menu selections. I highly recommend you make a reservation to this hot-spot, to avoid an average 20 minute wait. Their eggs benedicts, fruit salads, crepes are all consistent quality. Prices are pretty average for brunch. Waiters are polite and tidy. I would have rated higher if it wasn't for the VERY distracted hostesses. On my multiple visits there were two who would rather finish their conversation than attend to guests. To the manager, they are nice girls, but they need to be more attentive.
I always have a good time here. I highly recommend the All Star Combo, Chicken and Waffles, or the Cinnamon Roll French Toast!
Delicious!
Very friendly, very good service! Thanks guys!
Every single time. I've gone to Chicago five times now over the last 6 or 7 years, and I have made it an absolute necessity to go to Yolk every single time. I'm sort of glad they aren't here in Pittsburgh, as I'm fairly certain I would be going weekly and would put on a lot of weight. The coffee and food are out of this world. It's always packed to the brim so I would go at 1 or 2 in the afternoon to miss the major brunch rush. LOVE YOLK.
The food and service is very nice.
Great brunch!
Amazing food. Great service
SLOW SERVICE! Food was cold even after sitting at the table for 45+ mins. Had to send back to kitchen. Will not be going back!!!
The service is out of this world, the food incredible, and the environment stellar!
I love this place! Excellent service, variety of healthy options, very kid friendly. Gets crowded after 9.30
Decent breakfast chain near Lincoln park and Lakeview. Quick service, decent pricing, good meal. Near subway and bike share access.
Food was OK but is close to the hospital and after fasting for 24 hours for a procedure it truly hit the spot.
One of the best Breakfast places I have ever been!!!! Definitely a must while in Chicago. The service from Justice was superb!
Breakfast was delicious. The leaking ceiling was not fun
I love Yolk. They have such interesting food options
Yolk provides all the breakfast staples one would expect from a restaurant specializing in breakfast. While I have only dined here one time, the service was timely, food was well-cooked, and the vibes are fantastic. It is a bit overpriced for the quality of the food served, but Yolk has demonstrated that customers are willing to pay the premium, so hats off to them. While the food here is not the absolute best breakfast food you can get, Yolk has done a fantastic job of creating a unique dining experience that goes beyond simply the food. If you have never had breakfast here, I encourage stopping in and can assure that you will leave full, happy, and ready to tackle the rest of your day.
Cinnamon roll French toast is the best item on the menu
Big portions, great iced mocha.
Food is decent, but it is way overpriced ($21 for omelette and bacon)- then again, I guess that's the point of the brand.
Good food, my favorite is the red velvet French toast. Atmosphere is bright and happy but very very loud. Service can be a bit sore, but ask staff are very friendly. I would recommend if you don't mind a lot of noise.
The waitress was nice but the food was disappointing. I ordered the cheesy egg sandwich with potatoes. The sandwich was good, but the potatoes were cold, undercooked, and under-seasoned.
Amazing food!
The silverware was pretty dirty and had to be changed out. The prices were average, but the food and service were very good. Also, I love the location. Try the chicken and waffles and make sure to get coffee
Food is ok, omelette is below average, potatoes are average and pancakes are above average. Coffee is terrible, totally acidic and service was not good. First time in 3 years I didn't give a tip. We ask twice for water never got it. Asked 3 for coffee creme, never got it. I would have given only 1 star if the pancakes wouldn't be good. But i never come back.
Great food and excellent service.
Yolk is a great place to get breakfast. Their menu has something for everyone. Be prepared to wait for a table though on the weekend during typical brunch times!
The staff is not Helpful but food is some kind of well.
