REVIEWS OF The Spoke & Bird (South Loop) IN Illinois

Wanika Budlove

I found this place on a whim. I absolutely love it. It’s really cute and quaint. I would definitely come back again. I got the Prairie Rosé and the Kale & Vegetable Salad. They were delicious! Everyone was so sweet and helpful.

Lori Vallejo

The food took a little while to come out.. But it was excellent. It was fun sitting in the courtyard and watching the people showing up with their very well behaved dogs for breakfast. I loved it!

Philip McGilvray

The Spoke and Bird is a cute cafe/beer garden serving craft beers in the historic prairie district. I often call it a masterclass in location as it’s really the only thing in a two min walk from soldier field, a beautiful park, and a quaint family neighborhood. The service can be rough, and sometimes the food is too ambitious, but generally it’s a good location for lunch or after work beer. Definitely try the omelette!

Analise Potts

Good blt, my wine came in a can!

Shawn Zhao

great food. long waiting line

Jango IG88

A tremendous restaurant for delious bakery goods coffee tea juice and other soft drinks. They have a creative breakfast menu that will please any appetite. The food is prepared fresh to order and in plentiful portions. The staff is magnificent. Cass is the best employee there. She is very knowledgeable friendly and dedicated to one hundred percent customer satisfaction. She deserves a promotion and a generous raise in pay for the hard work and toil she provides each day. The restaurant is clean and unique in one orders at counter/ take out room and can dine in a eating space. It was great to see several members of the United States of America Military having breakfast this morning. God bless all of our troops and Chicago"s First Responders! Attend!!!!!!

Ali Yaqoob

Good coffee and atmosphere. Nice around summer time. Food is average though.

David Pietz

Had the biscuits and gravy. The biscuit was fresh and delicious. The sausage gravy was the best I have ever had at a restaurant. Also had the granola and yogurt. The homemade granola was great. The place was packed but they moved everyone through the line and the staff was friendly.

Okay I've been here a countless number of times and a recent experience has prompted me to finally write a review. I started coming here a few years back and when I first tried their maple bacon pancakes, I was hooked. They had a limited menu but most items were delicious, using quality "farm-to-table" ingredients. Over the years, the menu changed and so did the staff. The delicious maple bacon pancakes were removed from the menu but I still come because their staff WERE awesome. Plus I enjoyed sitting out in the outdoor seating in the summer. The food was awesome, but I never felt like their coffee was that great. Most drinks were watered down and had lack of flavor. However, I do want to say that they often have unique drinks, that may sound good. Now lets get to the recent encounter that made me upset. I decided to be spontaneous and ordered a Rosemary and Ginger Latte. I had a sip of the latte and it tasted like medicine. The latte was also extremely watered down along with the large amount of ice. It also lacked any ginger, none ginger tasted whatsoever. Zero. And I guess the rosemary was maybe the "medicine" weird taste. My friend also got the lavendar latter and said was very watery, and tasted like tap water. So I went to tell the barista, and asked if they can switch something out for me. But they just shrugged and said they could maybe add more ginger. Most places will let you switch your coffee out because each customer should be satisfied. But I get that they maybe they are not allowed to switch something out but it seemed that they didn't even care about me as a customer. They did not even say sorry about it. it is sad to see such terrible customer service. Oh and by the way, their wifi internet sucks. It is awfully slow.

Trevor McAfee

They had really great coffee, as well as great food. I got the soup of the day (it was tomato that day) and it was so good. The atmosphere is very neat inside the shop-- it's got a steampunk vibe, yet is also cozy and inviting. I definitely recommend.

Marija Mozina

I only wanted to get regular coffee to go. Waited 20 min in line and for $3.50 got poor tasting cup of coffee.

Carol Gockman

For the longest time I only stopped here for the great Chai Tea lattes. Then a friend took me to lunch on a rainy day so we sat inside and I got the delicious BLT with a side of green salad. I kept thinking about that yummy lunch. Now I finally got to experience the fantastic patio, this time with the perfectly not too much mayo smoked turkey salad sandwich. Now im a Spoke and Bird addict. And everyone Ive encountered who works here is friendly.

Food is good!

Bridget Gunden

Delicious coffee and great food options!

Anand Sadhwani

Great spot in the south loop for healthy breakfast options and some delicious sandwiches. Plenty of Outdoor seating makes this place amazing in the summer time.

Mattia Belloni

We stopped by at Spoke&bird on a Monday morning. We really enjoyed the atmosphere: if you are looking for a nice place where to drink some coffee and chat/work in a quite environment, Spoke&Bird is the right spot for you.

ThuHang Tran

Food was good, they carry counter culture coffee but staff was not generally knowledgeable about beans and brews. Seems like only one real barista.

Tim McAdam

Biscuit & gravy for breakfast was the best I've had anywhere. Lots of sausage in it and a touch of scallions to give it some flavor.

Carla Dicicco

I thought it was overpriced. I can"t believe your response to my review. It was insulting Why was the assumption made that it was not within my budget? I will not be returning and I am going to make sure to show your nasty response to everyone I know .

bill hoffman

Nice staff and great coffee

Emily Ray

Very good salad. A nice escape and easy walk from McCormick Place. Great outdoor patio as well as indoor seating.

Cameron Fontaine

Great little Cafe! Breakfast and coffee were awesome.

Debbie Kogelman

Nice friendly service. A bit pricey for soup and sandwich. They have a nice tea selection.

Mona Alshorah

Great casual breakfast and lunch joint. It's in a cool location right next to the Clarke House and park. We tried the BLT and tomato soup combo and the French Toast. The Hard Chander is a warm and cozy drink with chai and the lemonade is refreshingly not too sweet. Shout out to Elsa for being a great server! We look forward to coming by in the summer when the outdoor seating is open.

Daniel Simone

Great sandwiches and a solid beer selection, plus a dog friendly patio. Excellent coffee and a lot of vegetarian/vegan options as well. Super friendly staff. A+

Standmeupatthegatesofhell

Everything at this place is overpriced from water to food. The pastries which are not their own and are not very good are marked up more than a jewelry retailer. Last week, after coming from a walk on the lakefront, I stopped to get some bottled water. I found a 16 oz. can of sparkling water. When I went to check out they told me it was $2.79! Do not know how the place stays in business.

Velia Cox

Biscuit was fantastic, the gravy had a hint of sweetness (I'm not a fan of sweet gravy) and great beer selection.

Monica Kumar

Yummy food and we have ate there for brunch. They offer organic, fresh and they make their own sauces, ketchup and buns. Cute small indoor space but a large patio for summertime.

Michael Davidson

I was here as part of an event for a conference. I loved the outdoor patio - everything from the stones, to the tables to the leafy surroundings made for a nice morning talk with others over tea. I would definitely come back here.

Katrina Malone

Love the cheese grits and baked goods. Not a fan of the coffee.

Maarten van Seggelen

Good place for a nice breakfast. Good healthy food.

Mohsen Jafari

Worst service. Terrible coffee. Slowest wifi..

B W

The yogurt/granola bowl on the breakfast menu is so, so good. And the beet salad was such a nice, refreshing break from the banquet food I'm so accustomed to eating while traveling for work. My team and I ate at Spoke & Bird about 6 times in the course of 8 days. Fresh, delicious meals. No issues with serving size and the service was on point.

M M

Great little menu and really nice vibe with tons of outdoor seating.

Tiffany G

This was good - exactly what I'd expect from a little farm to table restaurant. I had an omelette, which was tasty. The restaurant itself is tiny, with mismatching tables placed haphazardly around a single room and a foyer area.

A Thomas

Quiet, neighborhood coffee and bakery with extended menu. Warm, comfortable meeting spot for brunch, friends meer-up or alone time. Egg sandwich with mixed green salad hits the spot.

Jill Schmitz

Love this place. Especially to go and study/work/read/write. Food is pricey but good. Bottomless coffee is nice. They do have a huge out door patio that looks so wonderful but there are SO SO many bees everywhere its crazy, not their fault, but is distracting.

Rebecca Fyffe

On my last visit I enjoyed a root vegetable salad, fresh squeezed grapefruit juice and a perfect almond milk latte. The ambiance of this restaurant is wonderful. It's also a very laptop-friendly cafe with an abundance of conveniently located power outlets. The staff was friendly and knowledgable. The food is really special. We ordered the strata, which is kind of like a frittata, and it's one of the best brunch dishes we've ever had.

Alex Adkins

Great staff and very good wifi. I'd go back to work there.

Chitti S Ravi

You can get all 3 meals here, delicious meals.

Glen Adams

Staff was friendly. The food was good and not a huge amount. Lattes are awesome. If the weather is nice the beer garden is a great place to be.

shane bull

Friendly. Delicious food. Great patio.

Alina Tsvor

We are obsessed with this place and go for coffee everyday! The breakfast sandwich is delicious. Great outdoor area !

Leslie V

Such a cute cafe. There menu is small but very tasty and they have a good drink selection. Great neighborhood cafe #localspot

Courtney Carini

Awesome cafe! Menu is really creative and delicious. If I lived here, this would definitely be my regular hang out. My only critique is the amount of oil used in the food. Seems a little excessive for salads and sandwiches. People who are sensitive to oil like me (gallbladder issues) can have some miserable digestive distress from all that oil. I recommend the mushroom melt. So unique and soooo good!

James Mowery

We decided to take a walk around town and this was on our stop for breakfast. It was snowing and a number of the staff was in when we got there and they were telling us all about their menu and what their favorites was. The two breakfast items we settled on was the Sausage and Gravy and the Egg Sandwich with Ham (you can substitute the ham with bacon), we can see why it was a favorite. Both were very yummy! We tried the espresso and the Prairie Fog both were very good. The Prairie Fog was describe to us as "pleasant" and we would agree. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing, great place to have a conversation and watch the world go by. We enjoyed the staff as well. Bottom line, we were not disappointed in our visit.

Scott Kayser

Enjoyed a tasty breakfast outdoors. Nice little restaurant in a scenic neighborhood within walking distance to the Marriott.

Manny Santos

First time visit and my last, Not worth it... Overly priced, long wait for a simple burger that was over/undercooked? Seriously, a 30 minute wait for a burger that was over cooked and undercooked on two different sides. The very fact I waited that long, I had high expectations that this was going to be a good burger in a little hidden gem of a neighborhood and to my disappointment it was a dud!. They're quick to take your money but long to serve, a little too complicated in my opinion of just cooking a burger patty regardless if it's made fresh in house. Restaurant looks trendy with a catchy name but I highly recommend that you figure the cooking aspect out if you plan to retain any business on the Southside. You're better off going to Subway down the street, at least you see and know what you're going to get at a third of the cost.

Ty Douglass

Large spacious patio and dining areas with great music and drink options. Beer and draft with non-alcoholic Rose and beers and other beverages as well. Food and drink comes out fast and is fresh. WiFi is a bit spotty depending on where you are though.

Beatriz Beckford

Great coffee and drink selection. Always quality food. Indoor and outdoor seating options, sometimes busy but worth it.

Caroline Gallagher

We sat outside on large backdoor patio area - you order inside and they bring food out to you. We were on a bike ride and stopped by for a drink - they had a nice selection of craft beers which we sampled! I particularly enjoyed the stout but there were plenty to choose from for all palates and good quality. Didn't eat although the pastries and salads looked very yummy. Will definitely drop in again on our next bike ride along the lake front and update review with food selections!

Evy Johnson

Small menu, but everything tastes great. Recommend the bottomless coffee for sure. Great place to sit and catch up with friends~

Loved the egg sandwich! Subbed the meat for mushroom and it was so good! I had breakfast there back to back during my short stay in Chicago.

Allen Whisler

Good breakfast spot! All local and organic food. Very trendy and has a nice outdoor seating area

anila saineghi

Great customer service. My sandwich was a bit bland (personal taste) but everything was very fresh. Great side salad.

Debbie Rivers

Great coffee and breakfast. Beautiful place to hang and watch Chicago.

Babylon Williams

Great food and cool, laid back space to join friends or informal business meeting.

rebecca harrison

Lovely place to go with the dog. Purple trail markers and the map on display at the entrance can be confusing.

Bogart Avila

Great cafe! Good ingredients and friendly staff. A great patio.

Sarah Young Dudek

This is a quaint and lovely coffee shop that breaks the norm. It has a fantastic energy and amazing bakery. The people are friendly and sets a really great flavor for the south loop.

Scott Klever

Responsibly sourced food. Love the classic breakfast and sitting on the patio with the dogs.

Adeline Knight

Awesome dark chocolate and mint iced espresso

krishnan venkateshwaran

Nice omlette

Ivee L

Great place for coffee or beer, hangout or work. My go-to cafe! There's the lovely women's park right outside, perfect to go with kids or pets! Update (Dec 2018) It has been over a year since my last review. I come here very often but I notice that their staffs never stay long. I kind of wonder why. I am also disappointed that they discontinued their roasted potatoes and homemade ketchup, they were the best! However, I enjoy the additional selection of baked goods. All the food are good, esp the soups!

Eric Cappannelli

Very nice place ! A bit outside of the big crowd. Great.

Barbara K Iverson

Good location. Nice staff.

Adam

They are well stocked with oatmilk and the service is amazing!

Ted Erickson

Good burger, nice place, friendly staff

Ellery R

MUCH better then the Spoke and Bird in Pilsen. Great coffee (self serve - $1 for refills), food selection, beer and wine. This location features a large, well-serviced patio. Close to the overpass to the lake.

Eric Gosh

It was a rainy day and as I walked by The Spoke & Bird looked interesting, so I thought I would step out of the rain and check it out. It wasn't busy at the register so I mentioned to the staff, "It's my first time in." and asked "What would you order?" One cashier said, "nothing." Another handed me a menu. I pointed out the smoked hot dog and sausage asking again what the cashiers liked, one said "Not the hot dog." I ask, "What would you order..." Cashier, "I like the oatmeal." Me, "$11 for oatmeal... Must be good." It wasn't good and it took a while for some reason. It had weird giant clumps in an otherwise creamy, mostly tasteless consistency. I didn't know you could mess up oatmeal. Entire experience was meh. Edit: I've changed my review to 1 star after receiving the owner's response.

William Slobodnik

Great for a coffee or a nice meal.

Stephen Saenim

Lovely morning to eat outside.

J Z

Very cozy, their vegtables pies are great (keep up the plant based food options!!)

Beatriz Beckford

Great coffee and drink selection. Always quality food. Indoor and outdoor seating options, sometimes busy but worth it.

PK Graff

What a fantastic experience. Great people and delicious food. The dining area has a great view of the street activity. Variety of seating options that well accommodate studying, breakfast with a close friend, or a larger engagement or meeting. The decor is interesting and has a youthful vibrant allure. Greatly enjoyed my time there. Cheers.

Angela C

Great coffee, delicious breakfast sandwiches (highly recommend the breakfast BLT), and very gracious staff! I was visiting Chicago on a work trip and came here with a couple of my cousins to grab some coffee. One of the employees recommended an iced vanilla latte with oat milk, which I'd never tried before, and it was fantastic!! I had also ordered a sandwich, and the printer they use for their orders apparently spazzed out around the time my order was put in, resulting in a delay on the sandwich getting made, but when they realized what had happened, they not only immediately started on it, but a staff member was at our table every few minutes or so to make sure we didn't need anything else while we were waiting, and they gave me a discount on a carton of the oat milk they use! Overall, an incredibly pleasant experience! I will definitely be back next time I'm in town!

Goh Chin

Pricy but good quality taste of food with friendly professional services provided. Pets allowed. Highly recommended place.

Mayumi Gassmann

Biscuits and gravy were buttery and flaky with a generous pool of gravy to soak up. Prairie fog was a deliciously dark creamy tea with notes of lemon. Great meal.

Dan M.

Went there for breakfast and the tea was fantastic. The cookie was a bit dry for my tastes, but that's just a preference thing. I noticed other orders took awhile to arrive, but mine was pretty well ready to go right the. Right there. Perfectly happy with this.

Clayton Clark

Beautiful, excellent food and coffee!

Mark Kashman

Excellent location within walking distance of the McCormick event center. They have real espresso drinks and tasty food. Also, where you order and where you sit is split between the main entryway - which for some reason heightens the ambiance for whe you eat it feels less hectic.

Angelica Figueroa

The staff is extremely friendly! The food and coffee is also great, recommended for sure.

Robert Andersen

This was a GREAT place to meet family from out of town and they later headed to the museums nearby.

Leslie Gordon

Good food but rather pricey

Karen Warren

Great food, service is good & then you get to take a stroll in the Women's Park.

rob thomas

Great place for kids party the staff was very friendly.

Elvis Fraiser

We’re staying at the Hyatt Regency McCormick hotel and wanted to find a nice place to have breakfast. This place popped up on my google search. Nice service, good food and a great atmosphere. We ate outside and enjoyed the laid back vibe of this neighbourhood. Glad we got to experience it.

Sean Gill

Great place to eat outside on a nice day. Eclectic but expensive menu. Quality was good overall though.

Holly Geneva

I love this place! This is my first time going here, and I was very pleased with my experience. The atmosphere is aesthetically pleasing; from their various utilization of wood, colors and the choice of music and the volume. They execute it well despite having to share some of the same with another company. The coffee and food were delicious! I had a BLT with a side of potatoes. There was a certain spice that I couldn't place in the potatoes, but it added a very delicious, yet different flavor. The BLT had heirloom tomatoes that were locally grown, and they were seriously the best tomatoes I have ever had in my life. I will certainly recommend Spoke & Bird to others :) and whenever I am in the South Loop, I will be sure to stop by again!

Patrick Hall

Friendly staff and nice seating (indoor and outdoor). Got the burger & greens. Burger was very plain tasting & very much overpriced. Greens were fresh had a nice and simple vinaigrette. Will likely never come here again. Too many quality options for cheaper or same price.

Deanna Rowe

Spoke and Bird has delicious food and great service. In the summer I really enjoy sitting on their patio in the sunshine. Only reason why it's not 5 star rating, I'm always a bit surprised how expensive it is. That said I do appreciate that they source their ingredients from local suppliers, which likely attributes to the prices.

Aurora Dawn Benton

Excellent biscuits and gravy - on the sweet side which I loved. Good pour over too.

Sydney Smith

Came here early on a Sunday morning and enjoyed a great breakfast with a friend from out of town. I'm always glad there are quiet places that open early. I would highly recommend their biscuit and gravy, and the oatmeal my friend had looked very good too!

Heather Ferguson

I absolutely love Spoke and Bird. The beer patio is a slice of heaven in the city, offering a shaded spot to sit and enjoy coffee, beer and amazing food and pastries. It is one of the most dog-friendly restaurants in the city with fresh water for pups and plenty of room to spread out. Spoke and Bird sources their ingredients from the highest quality local suppliers so it is a true "farm to table" experience. I have spent many an afternoon at Spoke and Bird enjoying the atmosphere alone or with friends. I am so grateful it is in our neighborhood.

Carolyn Wiese

This is a cozy place for breakfast or lunch. I got the egg sandwich and a side of fruit. The egg sandwich was delicious- I loved the bun that they used for it. The fruit bowl was mostly apples and pineapple, but I was happy that is wasn’t full of filler melon. Any place that you can get beer and breakfast is a solid place to me, and they had a good selection of craft beer on draft and cans/bottles. I would definitely recommend The Spoke and Bird.

Ejaz Arain

Delicious turkey burger and side salad, they were able to make it keto friendly and it hit the spot great flavor and not dry. Both the beef and turkey burgers are hand ground and seasoned!! great coffees and beer selection as well!

Dobri Danchev

Great patio, friendly staff and good drip coffee. Frittata was ok.

Chloe Herring

The service here was laughable. It must've been an abnormally busy day so we had to wait in a long line to order and be seated. Then we had to wait even longer just to get our food. And my order was wrong. The food was fine not mind-blowing, but the prices were inflated for the very small portions. We were finished eating and ready to go in a fraction of the time it took to get our food. There are too many places to eat in Chicago for patrons to have to put up with this kind of service. I will not be returning.

andrew bacotti

Do not go here if you want Heinz ketchup, starbucks coffee, or quacker grits. Everything is original and not processed with it's own special flair. I had the the breakfast BLT, grits, and a cappuccino. Everything was very tasty, the portions are moderate and the whole meal was a bit over $20, the service is very nice as well. I think it's worth it if your in town or near McCormick place and are looking for a bit of an upscale breakfast.

toshio yoshimatsu

Food is delicious, staff are super friendly and the ambience is relaxing. They have outside patio during the warmer months, which has an European feeling. I would give them five stars if they could brew better coffee (note: their coffee is OK but not exceptional)

Amit Jain

Limited options. Good coffee. Very nice outside seating.

Nate M

I had biscuits and gravy. The everything had a weird slight sweetness but it was also still savory. Deducted one point because the cafe was cloyingly hipstery and I could feel my bones begin to gentrify.

Andrew Lindquist

Food as always was good along with the moca but for some reason the salad was all kale, now I know it's a weird time of year between the holidays and Nye but it was just to much for me. I don't mind some kale along with some lettuce or something but other wise as always a tasty quiche and egg sandwich.

Jeanne Kim

I used to go to Spoke and Bird twice a month. I was initially so excited that they were opening in the neighborhood. Quality coffee, farm-to-table concept, huge patio? My excitement soon turned into deep disappointment when I saw that the owners go into petty attack mode when customers give critical feedback about their business. They also are quite condescending and self-righteous regarding their own business practices. It's not a great way to build community or conduct business. I have saved some of the negative responses they have posted to criticism and I find it rather baffling that they treat customers in such a way. They’ve deleted the worst responses, but you can’t change someone’s personality. More responses will emerge. The owners don’t take time to actually listen to their customers. They also don’t respect the opinions of the customers at all. I actually won’t enter the business again because I can't support businesses where people are insulted for giving feedback. I want to support businesses in the South Loop run by people who are kind and caring - and run by people who know how to manage their stress. That matters more to me than anything else. It’s not ok to insult people because they’ve written a bad review of your restaurant. When people give feedback about the prices of products, they bash their finances. Yikes! My document with screenshots can't be linked in the review, but I"m happy to share. PM me. These are just a few examples of how Spoke and Bird owners respond to feedback.

Rosalina Saunders

I love Spoke & Bird! It's an incredibly cute cafe with a great food and drink selection. Staff was very friendly and polite and my latte was simply delicious.

Michael Strzalkowski

Fantastic breakfast. When I am in Chicago a must place to eat!!

Stephanie Webber

Really cute cafe, good food and drink selection. The food selection varies from biscuits and gravy to a BLT. We didn't order any food but the food coming out to others looked delicious. Lots of clean plates.

Kati Middleton

The Prairie Fog was absolutely delightful! It was very confusing, during a busy time of day/week to figure out where the end of the line to order was, so signs would probably help. However, the employees did amazing given the circumstances and rose to the occasion to get everyone where they needed to be. I'll be back!

Jordan Covarrubias

Nice place. Ordered the breakfast BLT and was not disappointed. It's a few blocks away from the wintrust arena which made it convenient for us while attending a convention - overall good food and good service.

Gordon Zhao

Nice place with an outdoor patio as part of the main seating area which is great. The food is also pretty good, however the service is really slow, the line to order is all over the place. The time to takes for food and coffee to arrive is what I would consider unacceptable. Not worth the wait.

Tandra Breitzman

Great atmosphere! Good for light or heavy brunch/breakfast with breakfast cocktails available.

L Sims

The kale and roasted veggie salad is simply phenomenal.

T Renee

I love this neighborhood spot where I can come and study. Some say the food is a little pricey, however it’s worth the quality and freshness of the food. The staff are very nice which creates a warm and welcoming environment! This is my number 1 hangout spot when I need to study or take in the view.

Tate Oh

Fresh and delicious but sure its pricey

Joshua Mason

Trendy spot, light on seating. Good, but not great food.

Derek Rycewicz

Very nice farm to table food, hipster vibe, and great coffee drinks. This was a staple for breakfast during my week long trip in Chicago.

Luke Ferrante

The food was super solid. Wouldn't put the yogurt on French Toast. Made it way to sweet

Jesse Ghiorzi

Great egg sandwich, lots of outdoor seating, good coffee.

Rachel Watt

Really enjoy the breakfast menu here

Graham Harwood

Super cool little coffee shop. The chocolate chip cookies are excellent

Ronald Pena

american food and the scene here is excellent. Everyone at our table was quite pleased. The service was very sociable and kind. The bill was decent.

Christen Leigh

Cute spot. There is plenty of comfortable inside seating beyond the inside entrance, nice windows for sitting and watching people. There is also outside seating, and it's right by the Women's Garden. It's really the only place like it around, so worth a visit. But be aware that the portions are somewhat small.

Daniel Breems

We got lunch and shared the grilled cheese with tomato soup and a large beet salad. The soup and grilled cheese was excellent. The beet salad was a bit of a let down. It did not have very much flavor.

Tia Davies

Disappointed the strata was super dry and untasteful I have to drench it in hot sauce and it still tasted bad. We apperantly couldn’t have a side of onions. Even though they have onions here. Everything is premade even the alcohol drinks so if your thinking of wanting an Irish coffee or Bloody Mary your only choice is vodka. Staff was Unknowledgeable of most products and produce they have. Sad experience visiting Chicago to go to such a poor run place wish I went somewhere else on my short visit cause this place sucked.

Aeryn Lizz

The Breakfast BLT was really good but the cheese grits were an atrocity. I liked the twist on traditional grits but there was huge amount of pepper and salt. EDIT: Lol so a representative reaches out and says some people don’t appreciate authentic grits and next time to send them back... but I ordered to go

Kyle Carey

Cute coffee house with beer also on tap. Great service, way more seating then I expected.

Pavel Pap

Good breakfast food. We tried french toast and it was great. Good food, nice yard under the trees shades

Lindsay Olson

Chairs and tables need maintenance as they're very wobbly. I give the bloody Mary a 1 of 10 and the place itself a 3 because I really like the location.

Jin Xing

nice local spot. food is carefully prepared.

Gregory F

Nice patio area, good coffee and very friendly staff.

Samuel Boley Jr

I was absolutely floored by the taste of the Biscuits and Gravy.

Hannah Ferris

GREAT patio and place for coffee. Probably wouldn't get food again. Waited 35 mins for an egg sandwich and it had definitely just been sitting in the window as it was cold when it arrived. Good service, even better coffee, parking isn't too bad either. And they allow dogs on the patio!! Great coffee spot.

Dan Cibulskis

Great food in a cozy atmosphere, outside dining is great.

Meghan Karlik

The coffee was good. It's a very cute space with ample seating outdoors

Mme. Suzanne Giacotto

Serenity in the Prarie District, excellent food and a most enjoyable experience❤

Wes Siepiela

Tasty food, but overpriced for how much you get. The patio is nice to have brunch with friends. Also, I received the wrong order... It still looked delicious so I ate it anyway. I'm not picky. :) Edit: To answer the owner's question, I would not say $8.50 is drastically overpriced, but I can get a larger breakfast sandwich (made with a large homemade English muffin and more than one egg) for $7 in Logan square at Reno. Note: I didn't even order the breakfast sandwich. I ordered the classic breakfast and got a breakfast sandwich instead. Didn't have time to switch it out. Like I said above, I ate it and it was still tasty. I was just hungry after.

Susanne Hoesler

Nice place. Great outdoor seating area. Coffee and Food were good and they let you sit there forever and talk with friends.

William Bruner

Great atmosphere, super friendly people, and overall a delightful place for breakfast or just a coffee. Had the spicy chai with oat milk which was not overly sweet and had a nice kick to it. Yogurt and granola was one of the best I've had, with a nice balance between yogurt, granola and fresh fruit. Would definitely come again. Repeatedly.

Jamie Barth

We enjoyed ba delightful meal here. It's a delicious casual spot, with interesting and well-crafted food. The outdoor patio is nicely set up, with a lot of tables to choose from.

Great place. Nice indoor and outdoor seating area.

Grace Faoro

This place is very busy. They had run out of so much food on a Saturday before noon...so we couldn't order anything we wanted.

Food was delicious. Be prepared to spend a few dollars on a drink. Food is reasonably priced but not cheap ($10 or less per plate). Customer service is great and the staff seem happy and upbeat. Lots of good vibes and positive energy in here. The place also supports women cultural movements and urban/farming communities. A must try on the near south side area! Also I met the owner who’s a woman and she is really a great person.

My son is attending camp at the Women's Park so we had lunch here on Tuesday. The food was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed Biscuits and Gravy which rivaled any Southern Mee-Maws recipe. It is a beautiful, clean outdoor area full of friendly birds. It was a nice treat for our family.

Pamela Lavin

The food was good and the tea was excellent. I think they forgot about my order, but once it came out it was good. They have a great outdoor seating area. Everything is farm to table.

Terri Washington

Food was good but very rich and a little pricey

Benny Michel

Great place with an amazing atmosphere. I wish they would bring back the roasted potatoes

Aracely Tirado

Love the food, always fresh and tasty. Great customer service.

Tarella Crawford

Decent spot in the south loop. Eggs were over cooked even after asking for them to be scrambled softly. Peppermint tea was on point.

Brittany Canty

A great place with great food.

I have never been to this coffee shop. I called to see if I could get a box of coffee for a meeting. I called 1.5 hours before the event and was told that it was not possible. I knew Starbucks could do this within 15 minutes and would be cheaper but I wanted a local vendor. I called another local coffee shop near by and they did not have a problem accommodating me.

Roni Met

Overpriced. Even for the location. Service is slow. Portions are small. Getting a seat during any kind of peak hours is a bit of a nightmare. But the food is tasty and the workers are friendly. So roll the dice, or go with friendly company who can distract you from the bill and wait time.

Good service and ambiance, tasty Classic breakfast! The chocolate chip cookie was also delicious !

Shana Blair

Great coffee, great food, but the main reason we like this place is the amazing and large outdoor seating area.

Lan

Nice breakfeast, light and delicious. Alot of home made condiments. Cranberry jam was good.

Marc Gaber

Very slow service for 2 eggs. The turkey sausage was dry as a bone.

Nice people, ready to recommend new things to eat

Bill Barnes

This place is great. There is a clear prioritization of good service and it shows in the quality of the food and the staff. Great place to hop off the trail and grab a bite to eat.

Laura Cooper

They are over charging people. I ordered eggs $2, grits $5.5, toast $2 and a cappuccino $3.75 and my total was $17???? I also could not get an itemized receipt. I know taxes are crazy in Chicago but am pretty sure it is not 22%.

Alice Keeler

Love this place. Great coffee. Great ambiance. Roomy. Food is for foodies, that's a good thing. Try the French toast. Fantastic service.
