The fried chicken was crispy and tender. Great salad bar and soup. Our waitress was so nice and helpful with suggestions. I would stop again if I was in the area

Dave Hockett

They are under new ownership. Sadly, they changed the menu. I always go in and get the orange roughy, have for years. It's one of only two places in this area that I am aware of that I can order this. Not only did they not have it but when I decided to order the card instead, they didn't have any baked potatoes ready which was aside that should have been offered according to their menu. I ended up ordering the Reuben, my husband ordered the patty melt, I had the salad bar and the food was good the service was good the desserts look amazing, but we were too full to eat any. I will give this place time to get used to the new ownership, but for an upscale historic place like this one would expect a little more.

Beany Dahlin

Great food

Andrew Erbes

Really cool place. Been wanting to come here since 1993. Finally made it

Travis Miller

Food was great. Logan was our waiter and he was outstanding. Probably the best service I've ever had anywhere. Extremely polite and took very good care of us. Thank you Logan!

Donna Ortman

First time there, now one of my favorite places! Nice atmosphere, delicious food, good prices, very nice staff. It's a good place for a special occasion or just to get a quick bite. Desserts were okay, a bit high ($4.95), but that's really reasonable compared to other places. I highly recommend!

MAMA B

We always search for locally owned businesses first when on trips. We weren't disappointed. The food was excellent and the service couldn't have been topped. The owners even took a minute to speak with us and share a few places to visit. This will most definitely be on our list of places to visit the next time we are up for Alabama.

Great

Terrific. Historic. Good food - from basic burgers to fancy stuff. Elegant and informal at the same time. Friendly, good service, good prices.

Matt Ruth

I was excited to try this place after reading the good reviews but was thoroughly disappointed. Everything about the place was good except the food. The vegetable soup was all tomato other than a small piece of celery here and there with what looked like slices of half a tomato. It was overly salted to the point I couldn't finish a cup of it. The salad bar wasn't too bad but the ingredients looked and tasted as though they had been sitting out for quite some time. For my meal I ordered shrimp with mashed potatoes. The menu had multiple kinds of shrimp to order and most of them stated they were fried. I specifically ordered the shrimp that didn't state it was fried and the meal I received was everything it said it was but was also fried. The meal itself tasted exactly like a frozen shrimp meal you would buy from the frozen food section in Wal-Mart and heat up in the oven. I tried to finish it but I was unable to. The mash potatoes were mediocre at best and didn't taste homemade even though they were advertised as such. The taste was the exact same as the quick mix packets you can by in a store. When I was done with the meal the waitress brought over a tray containing various desserts to which I declined. Thought I didn't try the dessert, they looked as though they were the same ones used since the restaurant opened in 1924. Overall I don't feel the price of $14.00 was very reasonable for what I ate. The only good thing I can say about the place is that the waitress I had was very good.

Joyce Oltmann

Good food, great service, outstanding desserts!!!!

Fred Aydt

Prime rib was great! Waitress was busy but kept us satisfied!

Lyn Graziano Lg194555

Absolutely wonderful place !!! Food was terrific and the staff was amazing. We have gone to the Ariston for years and were a little skeptical being under new ownership. No fears, no worries, the new owners maintained the reputation and integrity the Ariston has had. Great food, great service, quaint family atmosphere with that touch of elegance.

Lois Wickwire

Food was excellent and staff was curtius and went out of their way to be helpful.

Michael Kunesh

Cannot comment on the food. The hostess was so rude. Felt like since we were not regulars we were not welcome. When I talked to the hostess about thinking of going somewhere for just a lite meal she said you can do that here but ok and crossed off my name. Get a life lady.

Matt Miller

I have driven by the Ariston many times, but today I was determined to stop for lunch. Had the lunch special, open faced pork loin with mashed potatoes and gravy. Very good. I also had the soup and salad bar - some surprises here. Marinated brussel sprouts - not bad! Spinach soup - surprisingly good! Didn't have room for dessert - this was probably a mistake. They look great! $5 each. Not inexpensive, lunch with tip was $15 + tip, but good. Next time I will just go for dessert.

Sharon DeLaby

Great food, waitresses and manager.

Peter Olson

The mashed potatoes were amazing. We had lovely service and the kids really enjoyed their ice cream dessert included with their meals. The salad bar offered good option, including beets and brussel sprouts. I had the all you can eat fried cod special which was ok, the pork chop special was good. The kids enjoyed their meals. The desserts are worth saving room. We shared a pie which had great crust and fruit to end the meal.

John Mullett

Food was awesome as always!!!

Dustin White

Waitress was friendly. Place was laid out very nicely. BUT we waited about 20 minutes before we were even waited on (yes we were seated). Also, it took about 45 minutes to get our food WHICH WAS THEIR SPECIAL OF THE NIGHT! Food tasted good but the wait was horrendous.

Reggie Marks

Always stop there no the way to St Louis!

John Cochrane

We had a celebration for my Mother and Father in law's Birthday. It was a perfect experience. Staff was gracious and attentive. The food was delicious. It all went well!

Sunday brunch.

T F Sakolsky

So glad this restaurant re-opened. This a perfect place for lunch or dinner. The down home food tastes great! Make sure you save room for dessert or get it to go. My favorite are the yummy lemon squares.

Rockshowsnodeth .

Coming here to The Ariston for the food is only part of the reason why it's so good. The other part is the rich history of being on Route 66. With that being said, the enchiladas and the classic burger, each on separate occasions were perfect and what to expect from a casual to upscale casual (casual plus? Near Sunday best type of dining) restaurant. I would have to say that the unique way they serve and present the desserts on a tray is very refreshing. The deserts themselves are just as amazing. To say the least, I believe The Ariston has a return customer with me.

Rob Nickerson

Good food, nice atmosphere, good service..

Donna Neel

Great service and good food

Mackenzie's Winzenried

The food was delicious. The staff did well at accommodating a large group and the atmosphere was great for conversation.

Lena Wideman

Great food and great service, was our first time there but won't be the last!

Wes m

Best in town! U love it

Terrence W

This place isn't bad. However, I WILL NEVER eat here and I will not conduct myself in a place of business that accepts this kind of inappropriate, racist behavior. Especially when these same kind of people are in control of my food.

Steve Lochhaas

Required stop on route 66 tour along with the museum across the street. Great food and staff.

Sheliah Altendorf

Beautiful adoring place on Route 66. A hidden gem nestled in the reality of the new millennium

henry

John Lancaster

Excellent Sunday brunch. Great value and food quality. Great find!!!!

Cheri Hesse

Mark Laehn

Great Route 66 place to eat. High Class wait staff. Nice to see for a change.

Lori Gooding

Good food

Daniel Kienzler

Love it. Great Litchfield dinner or brunch spot. Seriously consider getting dessert.

Sarah Sullinger

Way too expensive and the waitress told me the fish fillet had bones in it which makes no sense

Kim Holmes

I was not impressed. The salad on the salad bar had lots of brown spots and there wasn't a lot of variety of things to choose from. I ordered the beef sandwich with the Au jus. My sandwich looked like they had run out of meat. Very skimpy portion. The sandwich did come with a mound of fries. For the prices here I would expected more

Liz Eilers Bron

Great iconic Rt. 66 Restaurant

Ann Vandiver

Food is good always. Had a great waitress.

C Harton

So good!! Friendly. Salad bar looked super fresh but I was in the mood for something warm since it is negative degrees outside. Patty melt was good. The homemade potato chips were to die for though.

Jack Vick

Been visiting here for over 20 years. Nothing has changed except the people. The food and service is excellent.

Gene Mueller

An old-style, cooked in-house cafe straight from the 40's or 50's. Solid food, wait staff in white shirts and ties, bring back the serving trays...full service and cloth napkins. We'll stop in again!

Greg Mason

I really wanted to like this place because of the history and small town feel. Went for the Sunday brunch and the food was good. Tons of staff on hand running around like crazy not accomplishing much. No condiments of any kind on tables or buffet so you have to ask for everything from a server. No extra plates are provided unless you request from a server. I waited longer to pay my bill than to eat the meal.

Scotty Traw

We people rant and rave about this place. I was not too impressed.

Andrew Jestice

Always delicious! If you're traveling Historic 66, be sure to stop here and let them know. The staff is very welcoming.

KEN MARTIN

Great historic place along old Route 66. Great food at reasonable prices and desserts to die for! There's a reason they've been around for years. Try it! You won't be disappointed.

Alisa Sweatt

Very good food and service

Kennett Koski

Very good food and great service

David Tucker

Some of the best food on The Mother Road

Wayne Hotko

The food, service, and atmosphere were okay. The prices were on the high side but reasonable. What I didn't expect was the 30% gratuity that was added to my wife and I's bill, without our permission or knowledge was outrageous!!!!!!! 18% for a party' of 8 was at least printed on the menu. We were blindsided and I think that stinks. The place isn't that great.

Paul Nuernberger

Wide variety on menu, all of it good! Pleasant staff. Had a great time!

Viviane Hosto

Chicken ok, livers were old

Carri Rasing

This was probably the best roast beef with au jus sandwich I've had! The beef was well seasoned and the bun was just to die for. As for desert, the carrot cake was divine! Would completely suggest to come here for dinner or lunch.

Robin Reuben

Good food, great service. The Ariston: a notable restaurant in Litchfield for more than 60 years.

nikki lahey

Excellent food. Steak was a little too rare for me so they gave me a whole new one and apologized. Highly recommend them for a wonderful dining experience.

Richard Humphrey

Under new ownership and still wonderful. Liver & onions to die for.

Doug Coonrod

Great Food, Nice People

Ron Hull

Show service, bad food. Will not go again.

T.J. Arundale

Fantastic place to have a meal! My wife and I ate there last night and had the best prime rib I`ve had in years.

Rebecca Mehochko

Pork chops very chewy. Not able to eat them.

Pete Zimmer

What a great destination for a Sunday Evening dinner. Great Food, Great Service and great Atmosphere. You owe it to yourself to try this place.

Carly Rondeau

This was a wonderful stop. The service and the owner were awesome!!! Wish we lived closer. We would be regulars if we did. -fam from Milwaukee.

Margaret Bandy

It's the same great atmosphere and food. A Litchfield Classic.!

Larry Grider

Grate if you don't mind taking some home

JR Davis

Good food at reasonable prices in a pleasant environment. The delicious and varied dessert options would rival any restaurant. Wait staff were friendly and efficient. Perfect place to visit on Route 66!

John Reedlore

Craig Noman

Excellent dining experience

Phillip Moise, SR

Loved it

Bob Graham

Absolute MUST. Longest operating restaurant on Route 66 Since 1924.

Colleen Coughlin

Food and service was excellent. Groups be warned. They won't let you order from the menu. They only do family style. This isn't always fully explained. When approached the owner (younger man) was NOT willing to work with us.

Scott Bickett

Coleslaw is fantastic! Worth going to just see the 90 yr old Budweiser neon sign! Great Greek olives!

Naopan Ride

This was a fantastic experience. Wonderful service from a very kind and funny young man, and absolutely delicious food. I enjoyed the manicotti with a lovely salad. The people I ate with had the patty melt and the pork tenderloin sandwich. He said it was the best pork tenderloin he had ever had. The owner was out and was greeting people regularly. We also had desert, and it was also delicious. A older woman, (who I am guessing was the owner's wife) spoke to us multiple times and was very kind. We will be sure to visit again.

Melinda Gurley

Really good food, great amount for prices. Great service. Would highly recommend. And very well decorated, loved the entire experience. Will definitely be back.

Mike Shield

The cafe has new owners,in the past we have always looked forward to going here.Last night we were quite disappointed with the service and inattentive waitress and staff in general. We drove many hours looking forward to a great dining experience that just didn't happen.

Eric Lauderdale

The food here is excellent, many of the items taste just like grandmother used to make it.

sara murray

Great RT 66 stop! Friendly staff, yummy food.

Connie Slightom

Nic and Demi are 5 star. Never been disappointed. My favorite is the Greek salad. Their desserts are to die for!

Nathan Kleinman

Loved the channel catfish (two whole fish, headless, fried). Great salad bar too.

Roberta W

Not impressed. Food was ok but seemed pricey for what you get. Hubby got manicotti with a salad bar (not impressed at all with the salad bar...very few selections for a salad). I ordered a GRILLED chicken Greek salad with no croutons. Why no croutons? I am eating keto & dont eat flour. Told waitress this. When order came to table (we had 7 at our table, one other also ordered the same salad). She sat my salad down first & started to hand out others food. Low & behold...on top of my salad was a bunch of BREADED and fried chicken strips. I looked at it & before I could say anything she said "oh, we are out of grilled chicken, so they gave you that". Ummmmm hello?!?! It would have been nice if you had came & told us that before you brought everyone their food so we could have ordered something else instead. I didn't feel like waiting another 15 min for grilled fish, since there was a bad storm coming & I didn't want to be caught in it. I said, "no it's not ok. I can't eat this." We finally determined I would like a salad with something grilled on it, preferably some shrimp. She took salad back, they just took off the chicken & apparently they do not make grilled shrimp, as what I got back was a bunch of(what looked and tasted like) processed turkey slices cut up. (hello sodium!) I was too tired to argue it at this point, so I just ate this nasty salad so I had something to eat and didn't ruin everyone else's dinner. At least they only charged me for a plain Greek salad. The only reason I would return here is to try one of their yummy looking desserts once I finish losing my weight. Hubby said his was wonderful!

Justin Telthorst

Great food, great service, quaint atmosphere and clean. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone!

Bob Scheaffer

food just ok. not worth the drive. sweet red sauce and super sweet Italian dressing

Jimmy Armbruster

Went from a business lunch. Nice place with a wide selection on the menu. The waitress we had could have been much better, but the other staff was able to help.

Doug Comporato

Wouldnt reccomend this place

Nancy Gilmore

I hadn't been to the Ariston in many years. While visiting my mom, we went for supper. The food was very good and our waiter was enthusiastic. They had a salad bar, and while it wasn't big, there seemed to be a variety of items which kept people happy. I will definitely go again when I'm in Litchfield.

Amy Wilson

Delicious! Great service!

Paul Morrison

Great service and a fantastic Steak Lamia

Cheryl Wireman

Great place good food good service

Jon Krause

Good food for the area. Salad bar could use some more choices.

Margolita Rouse

Food excellent. Route 66! Good place to eat.

Sean Hughes

Took my family there today and was their first time ever eating there. I will just say no one was impressed. For starters the meal took almost 45 minutes to get. My wife ordered the Beef dip sandwich, and half the Au Jus sauce had been spilled onto her fries and sandwich, and left to soak, and she stated that it tasted like it had been sitting there for a while before they even brought it out. Daughter got Manicotti, it was 3/4 sauce and 1/4 Manicotti. And her garlic bread was chewy. Son got the kids Prime rib, and after a few bites wouldn't touch it because it was chewy and gamy. i got the fried channel catfish. fish was good, not much choice of sides so i got the asparagus, and asparagus was bland and only maybe 5 thin pieces. The restaurant was not what i would consider busy, yet the waitress just never seemed to really find her way to our table, just kind of felt like she really didn't wait our table. I could tell the manager could see we were getting anxious and annoyed by the way he kept watching our table. Yet never approached us to make sure everything was okay. I actually had to go to the counter to request the check since the waitress did not return after we finally received our meals. At that point the manager asked if everything was okay, and my response was i would just like to leave, in an annoyed and unhappy fashion thinking he would catch on that i was not happy with our visit. But nope. So i payed my $70 bill for mediocre food and left, and do not plan on ever coming back.

Tom Browning

This is Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives material. Guy are you reading this? I had the Cannelloni...the best ever!!! I've had Italian cuisine in New York, Chicago and Italy this was better. The pasta was perfect al dente, the sauce was thick, meaty, rich and a hint of sweet (just how I like it) and the cheese and spinach stuffing was magnifico!! The salad bar was quite surprising. Besides the usual fare found in most salad bars it had items you don't regularly see: tiny cubed carrots in vinegar, small pickled beets and even sour kraut for my wife. There were a variety of appetizers and we had a hard time deciding on what to have. Our selection...the deep fried breaded portobello mushrooms. They were fantabulous. If you're headed up or down Route 66 (I55) you must stop.

Anja Van Ostrand

We loved this restaurant as our lunch stop on route 66! The owners are so nice! We even got to take pics behind the counter with the old telephone and signs. A great mom and pop place with great food. Vegetarias find plenty options and vegans find great sides. Meat or fish lovers find lots of yummy dishes!

Mitch Fickling

Very nice, reasonable and good food

Girl Scout GCNWI Troop #25891

Food was really good we had the pork sandwich. Needed to be pounded down a little more but it was Easter Sunday so I wasn’t expecting too much.

Nathan Jackson

Great old school restaurant with good service and a huge menu right off i55. They have American Italian Mexican and Greek food on the menu, and reasonable prices. Good deserts too.

rhonda daniels

good food and nice atmosphere.

Sean G

The wife and I had dinner there earlier this evening and very much enjoyed the meal. The restaurant is clean, spacious, and the serving staff is dressed well and very friendly. The menu is very, with many international dishes and southern favorites. prices are reasonable, and there are daily specials for most days of the week. I had the liver and onions, which while it tasted good was slightly burned. The wife has the all-you-can-eat cod special (only Wednesdays), and she enjoyed it. There were several international wine choices available, with prices for a bottle around 20-24 dollars. I attached a photo of the desert options, which are nothing to scoff at.

Angie Fickert Paterek

The Ariston is very impressive. The staff is very friendly. I interacted with several - not just my amazing server. The food was very good. I liked that they had more than burgers. The catfish and homemade mashed potatoes were wonderful. The lemon dessert was perfect. Stop and check out this wonderful piece of history on Route 66.

András Benke

We were here on our mini-route-66 tour wanting some coffee only before me falling asleep and the waiters did not mind us at all even though we did not consume anything else but coffee. Moreover, when we mentioned what trip we were on, the leady brought us a fridge magnet and a postcard about the restaurant. It was a great experience!

Franz Todt

My hometown fav, now new ownership. I was happy that the food and restaurant are just as it was before. Quarter Fried Chicken all white, American Fries w/grilled onions, toast, and the great salad bar with house Italian and crazy blue cheese ++ dressings. Fabulous. Also on Historic Route 66.

Jennifer Snow Snow

It was fantastic as always!!! This is my family's go to restaurant for all of our special get togethers.

Joann Olson

The food was very good and our server was great

Viola Downs

It was just great very neat place to eat and enjoy the decor

Happened upon this gem of a restaurant while stopping for gas. Great food, service and decor. Full menu from sandwiches to full dinner. Loved the food. I had liver and onions cooked to perfection.

Lisa Yaeger

Great German chocolate cake! I tried the baked chicken with stuffing and mashed potatoes, the baked chicken was ok but I didn't like the stuffing.

Mario J Saegers

Great experience, must have Prime Rib, on Fri/Sat! You won't believe your eyes! The taste was second to none!

Marienne Perry

Hubby and I stopped here while returning from a trip. We didn't expect much but we wanted to see the historic Route 66 Restaurant. We were really surprised, it was a white-tablecloth place and the food was good.

Judy Koontz

Wow! Good food, wait staff friendly! German chocolate cake to die for!

Jason Turner

Another great dinner at the Ariston Cafe. I just love when I can stop by on my way to St. Louis. It's a great atmosphere, super friendly staff and delicious food. I had the blackened pork chop tonight. It was well seasoned and cooked just right. So nice that they offer the soup and salad bar too. I would love to have had some dessert, but just didn't have the room. I look forward to the next time I'm able to stop in.

Jim Ellis

Sunday buffet was excellent. Nice selection and food was delicious. Friendly staff too.

Linda Faugust Meador

We had the Father's day prime rib buffet. It was delicious. The prime rib was so tender. Great salad bar and other sides and desserts were included.

kendy griswold

Great Breakfast!

lindsey reese

This place has been around since the 1920's. The son of the original owner still runs it. White table clothes, cloth napkins etc. Awesome, professional, attentive wait staff. Beautiful original booths and decor. It's like walking into the past. I hate liver. But they cook chicken livers Greek style here that gets rid of that horrible liver after taste. None of that slimy feeling on your tongue and mouth. So that's what I usually order. If you hate liver, this is a place you'll like it. Very complex flavor. The place has lasted so long, because it's really good. If you eat somewhere else on Litchfield, you're a fool!

Matthew Dawson

My first visit today. Really good food, our server Jade was great and a classic atmosphere. I will be back!

Eric Kosel

Fantastic, homemade goodness. This place is like going back in time. Service oriented staff with high quality eats.
