Friendly, warm, and inviting. Good food and hot coffee. Very relaxing and enjoyable. I know about the guy Leslie mentions, and yes, he is a bit stand-offish. Friendly to some people but not me. I overlook him. I have a good rapport with the rest of the crew but there is definitely somewhat of a clique. I create my own enjoyment and find the overall environment comfortable. I've never been treated negatively but actual table service could use improvement. Not a waiter/waitress model. More help yourself.

The frittata is amazing. Cooked perfectly, packed with cheese and sausage. Amazingly fresh and not overly sweet cinnamon roll. A delicious chai latte with one pump of vanilla was devoured by my children after asking to taste my drink. The breakfast panini was not my favorite so next time I'll just get 2 toes off frittatas.

Nice looking place. Cute menu. Portion sizes are SMALL!! half a salad comes in a tiny bowl that they use for cups of soup. Clam chowder went from being creamy to being broke down and watery before I finished eating it(and i did not because of this). The chicken that you can add to salads is that precooked sliced processed chicken you can buy in a bag at the store- NOT what I was expecting(gross)Had a hair in my salad I discovered mid bite(love flossing my hair with someones hair while chewing). Very discreetly informed the cashier that I had the unfortunate luck of finding a hair in my food while chewing- Had the hair on the side of the plate for her to see. She takes the plate, goes in back and comes out to my table a couple minutes later. Instead of asking how to rectify the situation she states "no one in the back has that color of hair", Then was like do you want another salad. It was like she was accusing me of planting the hair in my salad.

I really did enjoy this place, we had a birthday celebration for myself here. However, when we came in, the atmosphere was really nice, music was at a perfect level and the band that was playing was incredible. They even incorporated the crowd... which for me is a nice plus to the already fantastic tasting food. Will return in the future!

Our knitting group met here and we had the best experience. We all ordered coffee, lunch, and sweets. The bacon sandwich is to die for. The had no problem with us taking a big table and hanging out for a few hours. The atmosphere is very friendly and the staff was inviting. Our group will be meeting here again.

We've been here 3 times so far: breakfast, just for caffeinated drinks, and lunch. They are always fantastic. The food is delicious. The drinks are warm and tasty. The place is beautiful. And the staff is friendly. We haven't tried their coffee liqueurs yet, but hope to in the near future. If you're looking for a light breakfast or tasty lunch in a relaxed setting, this is the place!

I haven't been in Belleville in years, so to find the Abbey for a cup of coffee was absolutely fantastic! The customer service was excellent. The coffee was was good and the food was decent. However considering the other options on the Main Street, meaning fast food... The Abbey definitely gets five stars!

I’ve been here several times and have always found their coffee good. The last few times I’ve had food here have been a different story. I had lunch there yesterday at noon and that will be my last visit. I noticed black, moldy specs in our water so my husband went to return the glasses and ask for new water. When he explained to the person at the register what the problem was she insisted that all the water is filtered and that nothing was wrong with it. As this discussion is taking place, another server grabs those two glasses and takes them to a table that is waiting for their food! We had to buy bottled water. I ordered a spinach salad and paid $2 extra for chicken. The “chicken” was the frozen chicken product that you buy that’s shaped like chicken breast and colored up with grill marks. Super disappointing considering the salad had walnuts, blue cheese, and bacon on it. My husband had a frittata. For a salad and a small frittata I paid $20. On our way home we were struck with intense GI upset. I tried so hard to love this place because it’s local and unique. I’ll be getting lunch at Bread Co.

This place has good food and coffee, but I was there twice for a few hours to do some work and, it wasn't the noise that bothered me (because I work well in busy atmospheres), but it was the guy who very rudely took my dishes away. I asked for more water and he told me that the girls at the front cashier could get it for me, but they were extremely busy and he was not. I thought that was quite rude. . I even witnessed him not asking but demanding other patrons if they were done with their beverages when they were still nearly full. I gave it another chance and the same thing happened. I tried to go somewhere local, but I'd rather go to Bread Co to do my work. I won't be back.

Grabbed a sandwich from here before class tonight and enjoyed it up until half way through the sandwich I started to chew a hair...ew...spoke to a gentleman who worked there about it and he claimed he was the only one in the kitchen and his hair isn't that long. He apologized and that was it. He didn't offer to remake my sandwich, offer me something different, or comp my meal. If this is how you treat people ...I won't be back. Read another review similar to mine. Seems like this is a trend at The Abbey!

Probably the premier coffee shop in the Metro East area. Positives: above average coffee, spacious tables inside, great patio area outside, full service bar, decent food, small stage for local musicians on Thursday and Friday. Cozy atmosphere with large fireplace. Not any significant cons other than small parking area without egress.

I love the Abbey.... but, I brought a friend to see the Abbey and the cushions outside ONCE AGAIN were not brought in overnight or considered when rain occurs. It rained and my friend sat on a soaked cushion in the outdoor seating area. This is the second time this has happened...first time it happened to me. It puts a SERIOUS DAMP-er on a visit when you sit on a soaked cushion. You have to rethink your whole day and then figure out how to dry and/or go home to change wet pants. I brought it to their attention the first time, but no one seems to attend to the matter. My friend used the express air hands dryer in the bathroom to dry her pants. PLEASE... can we offer dry cushions or no cushions at all???
