Wonderful cafe! I fell right outside osmium during a flash flood and their baristas took me in, gave me towels and some hot tea for about 45 minutes until the storm cleared up. They were great to talk to. And the blueberry tea they gave me was sublime! Thanks osmium!

Great coffee, very nice barista's, a nice bar where you can usually find a seat to have your coffee and they even have outdoor seating. Overall one of the best coffee places in the area. I recommend the Agave Latte or the Mayan Mocha.

Dark Matter roasts some of the best coffee in all of Chicago! The single origin beans are typically from Guatemala or El Salvador. This place showcases several different processing methods such as wet washing, dry washing, barrel aging, fermentation with beer and wine yeasts, and other tasty experimental methods. Also home to quite possibly the only place I’ve ever had good espresso poured. This particular cafe from Dark Matter is one of the coolest they have. Good music all day, friendly atmosphere, friendly staff.

Nice, chill spot for some coffee. Not the best I've had in the city, but definitely not the worst. Some of the baristas were very knowledgeable and personable. I do always appreciate an attentive barista. The feel of the shop itself is very unique and I enjoyed the artwork in the shop.

I really enjoy the coffee from this local roaster. The first time I came here they had a cold-brew barrel-aged coffee. I was a little hesitant about trying a coffee with such combination of drink fads, but after trying a sample it was delicious. It actually had a slight blueberry taste and I'm terrible at picking nuances in taste. The coffee is always good here and the environment is pretty chill. If I lived closer to this place I would probably do some work there on Fridays.

Spacious, artsy coffee shop that sells both coffee and tea (oolong, green, Earl grey, white tea). Tried their oolong tea, it's perfecto if you like dark, toasty teas. There's also an nice outdoor area. Very quick, efficient, and affordable. Would come back for a great study space!

I love this place. I live in Uptown and even though there are tons of coffee places closer I find any excuse to make it down to Osmium. I am not too adventurous with my coffee and always order an Americano, but they are so good, and I really like the space. Get there when the weather is nice because they have plenty of outdoor seating in the back. They serve Dark Matter coffee, which I have come to realize because of Osmium, that it is my favorite.

Amazing coffee and customer service! The Barrell aged mocha was so good I felt like I could chug it. I also got a Do-rite donut which never disappoints. Overall, there's so much on the menu worth trying as well a great selection of dark matter coffee beans available for purchase that I'll definitely be back for.

Returned a second time and the drip coffee was not as good as the initial time seemed a little watered down. I would still return if in the area. Very, very good coffee. The art inside was amazing and I found an interesting mug and a bag of Dark Matter beans (which I haven't tried yet). The service was very helpful as I stumbled around. I would recommend.

Cool joint & good coffee BUT charging more for an iced coffee because you request less ice is RIDICULOUS - “we charge more because it’s more product”... That doesn’t make ANY sense. How about you charge less for the coffee thats already overpriced and take off the bill for each ice cube you put in my cup actually displacing the coffee? Or how about you don’t fill the cup with so much ice to begin with? Am I seriously paying over 5$ for a cup 3/4 filled with ice??! And then being charged more for wanting less?! C’mon.

For some reason, I've always loved coffee or tea served in a glass cup. From walking in, its a favorite spot for people to come in and get work done. We had to wait for someone to leave to catch a spot. I loved my drink and the employees are very friendly.

The longer I live in the city, the more I'm certain that I have my favorite coffee shops figured out. But then along come Osmium and the favorite coffee shop leader board changes. Iced coffee is spectacular and they always have Do-Rite donuts in stock. If you're looking for a spot with good hours (not 24-hours) to do work without the loud coffee shop noise, this is your spot. The only negative is that they don't have tons of seating but don't be afraid to sit at the bar. You'll be surprised how productive you can be!

Came in today as a first time customer and left a lifetime customer. Great coffee for those of us a bit further into our caffeine addiction. The barista I worked with was very kind and knowledgeable and I'm kicking myself for not asking her name because I really want her to get recognition for her awesome customer service. She had short blonde hair and was super cute so I hope that helps! Give that employee a raise!!!

Osmium is a really good coffee shop! They serve Dark Matter coffee (which was absolutely delicious), and the atmosphere was very nice. Their music was alternative (they played Alt-J the whole time), and the staff was friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent coffee - Dark Matter- with delicious quick bites make for a great experience. The staff is extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about the right coffee for you. The place is cozy and is a great spot to take a break from the hustle and bustle of life. I must mention the highlight of the beverage menu: the Mayan mocha. Just had the best almond milk capuccino. Perfect foam!!! they offer almond milk without sugar & carrageenan (you would be suprised how many coffee shops have this ingredient in their nut milks..gross). Great coffee and good food too. The coffee beans themselves are amazing often with floral and nutty notes. They are more expensive than your average bag of coffee, but well worth the price. The best feature of this place is the iced coffee on tap and the ability to fill up growlers of the iced coffee at a very affordable cost. The chocolate city is the best iced or cold brew coffee I have ever had. It is triple brewed so it packs a caffeine punch, drink in small portions.

Excellent coffee bar! Perhaps buoyed by a pretty awful coffee at a different location earlier in the day, my latte (I got their specialty drink of cinnamon, cocoa and agave in a 6oz size) was delicious. I'd recommend half sweet as I normally don't get flavored coffees, but still delicious. The staff were friendly, the shop was clean and I liked the layout with the bar set-up. And I'm pretty sure they made a regular out of my co-worker!

Very busy today, a Sunday afternoon. The coffee is frequently very good. They have a lot of options: pour over, press, drop, and the typical espresso drinks. They sell bags of whole beans, and can grind them for you. The service was friendly. Pretty standard pricing. They have outdoor seating behind the main indoor seating area. Standard baked goods selection.

Coffee was PERFECT. The Unicorn Blood Espresso was amazingly smooth and and not bitter or burnt. The Agave mixed drink and Latte had very different flavors, but both were very complimentary with the brew. Neither was overly sweet, both were delicious. The environment/art work/lighting was dark and disturbing, and the customer service was poor (no assistance ordering/offering a menu/describing sizes or costs - didn't tell me when my order was ready - bought a bag of beans, but had to return them for a more recent roast etc)

Pros: Staff is great, they make a really mean latte, it's nice to find a local place on Belmont with all the chains that have popped up there in the past decade of so. Also, there's an incredibly endearing regular named Allen that will most likely brighten your day. Cons: It's not a great place to study, not the quiet coffee shop atmosphere that I need to focus. Not a big deal, just an FYI. Also, just a note.... the draft cold brew is mocha flavored, so that could go either way, depends on your tastes.

One of the best spots I have found in Chicago for coffee that appeals to the eyes and the tongue; others have said it better than I would. A big plus is the unexpected back patio, where the delightfully painted tables add to the pleasant, mostly peaceful atmosphere. Negatives for me: the wifi was pretty unusable (August 2016) and the front room is extremely noisy when full.

What a beautiful and smooth almond milk latte in a funky and offbeat cafe. My husband enjoyed his vegan Snickerdoodle cookie. I tried a bite too (it was good). Definitely a place to check out if you're in the area!
