This Coffee Shop belongs to the category of American restaurant.
Interesting and unique specials in a traditional diner setting. Excellent service. Busy but seating moves fairly fast.
This is a great brunch spot that’s homely and accessible. The coffee is really amazing and the breakfast sandwiches in a fluffy croissant really make you set for the day. Service is also very great
Had the southwest omlett and it was perfect. Eat here. Awsome service.
Not as good as it used to be. The whole restaurant is dirty and in need of a coat of paint. Food is fine, but the quality is noticably decreased.
Got to for brunch! Friendly staff and good food at a reasonable price.
Great food!
Charming and very good food! Staff was awesome very attentive! Food is great quality And large portions!
All around good food and good service... just like I remember from when I lived in this neighborhood 20 years ago.
This place is awesome. Great breakfast options and the coffee is top notch. Highly recommend for breakfast or brunch. The service is great too.
Large portions of standard fare.
Nookies is an amazing restaurant and I highly recommend it. If I could come here every day, you bet I would. With such a variety of different foods and breakfast served all day, I can never get enough. The waiters and waitresses are so kind and the manager is a very, very nice man. I love this place so much and I will never stop coming here.
Very generous. They offer first responder discount. We did not even ask for it. No liquor.
The raspberry and peach french toast was delish! The eggs Benedict was probably the worst I have ever had:( The hash browns were under cooked and bland:(
Great food and atmosphere!
Great good and friendly service.
Fantastic service and incredible food at a great price. Food came almost instantly and prices are very reasonable! 5 stars for sure.
I have cured far too many hangovers at this location. Great, great, great breakfast. A Chicago classic and staple. Sadly they dont make em like this any more. Love Nookies.
Nice vibe
Went there for a brunch on Sunday, and the food is very mediocre if not awful. I got frittatas, and the texture of eggs tastes like napkins. Definitely over-priced for the quality of the food at least for my visit, but it is reasonable for the portion. You may find some chain restaurants could serve food in a similar level. However, I did feel cozy and nice vibe there, which raises the rating from 2 to 3.
Nice hot food good people very nice
Yummy food options, crepes were pretty bland but the chorizo skillet was delicious
Such a great breakfast. Pancakes and omelets are amazing
Nookies used to be a staple for Lincoln Park brunch dining...but has definitely feel short over the years and have not held the same quality they used to have! It's still ok and not bad food, but doesn't have the same quality it used to. Plus, they used to have amazing coffee by Superior Coffee, but no longer...now their coffee is terrible and bitter. There are better brunch places around, but I still go into Nookies once in a while just for the nostalgia of it.
We were in the city visiting for the night qnd saw the good reviews so decided to try this place out for breakfast. It's your basic dinner food with a large selection of breakfast entrees. Food was pretty good. Coffee was just ok. I ordered a veggie omelet and it was ok. It really tasted like they used frozen veggies which was a bit disappointing. I'd come back again for breakfast. Service was fast qnd attentive.
Great food and value. Good conversation at breakfast bar on a Saturday morning out apartment hunting. Would recommend for any weekend brunch activities as it is BYOB.
Local favorite of ours when we lived a few blocks away. We make a point to visit every time we're back in town. Zagat is right when they say "unpretentious". That combined with a great menu top to bottom makes this place well worth the visit.
Great classic breakfast. Service was good and food was just as good. Clean kitchen that you can see for yourself with the big kitchen entrance
Love this place!! Food and staff are equally amazing. Nice little spot for a cozy delicious meal.
This is an awesome breakfast lunch restaurant. Its not the most appealing place, but the food is good, from scratch and no alcohol I do not believe. Definitely check this place out if you get the chance
Would have been 5 stars but felt super rushed by the waitress.
Went there for my son's birthday. Waiter was wonderful. Food came fast and was de le sous!!!! I had salmon. Yummy. And my son even got a piece of birthday cheesecake. Also delicious Highy recommended
Great food and service! Bad coffee though
Amazing breakfast- seasonal specials - never disappoints
A casual place with great dinner food!
Nookies is a really nice place for brunch. There is plenty of seating inside or you can sit outside. The coffee was good and plentiful. We had the french toast with raspberry sauce and easy over eggs with hash browns and sausage. Both meals were quite large and delicious. It was very busy when we ate here and the service was excellent.
Efficient and friendly service, great traditional diner food and nice atmosphere. Although it would be nice to see Nookies up their sustainability game and stop using disposable plastic straws to drink your OJ and packaged condiments
The food here was amazing! As well as the staff! Everyone was so kind and made sure you had everything you needed. The set up of the restaurant made you feel like you were right at home. :)
Nice diner, with an old school vibe. Excellent choice of omelette, quick service.amd a.storng delicious coffee.
Really cozy and friendly staff. I went with a couple of friends during a time where it wasn't so busy, and we stayed for about 2 hours. The food was actually better than I expected it to be. I personally went with the crepes per my server's recommendation, and it was indeed worth it. Some of the seats are slightly awkward due to the way the flooring is, but that's a minor thing that you won't notice after a while. Definitely worth visiting at least once, definitely worth a second visit from myself. Go. You'll enjoy it.
Great local diner. The breakfast options were abundant. Since its just up the street from Second City, I wonder if there were some skits that were inspired there? Cheeseburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger?
Always great food and great service.
Says on their website and everywhere else that it closes at 10pm. I get there at 9:10, they say they’re closed. Other customers there say unfortunately they switch up anytime
This place is wonderful for breakfast! Delicious food (the sweet cheese crepes are fantastic- and the Denver omelette was also tasty!) and very prompt & friendly service. Fun to BYOB as well. We will definitely make a point to come here every time we are in Chicago.
Great place great food great people
Artichoke Frittata is amazing!
This place has fantastic omelets and a wonderful environment.
Yum! I’ve been to Nookies to have Sunday brunch with a friend a few times and every time, I had a very enjoyable experience. I was afraid that due to its Old Town location, it would be uptight and overpriced, but Nookies is a very down-to-earth place. We’ve always come at peak brunch time but never have had to wait longer than 15-20 mins. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The food is great! Classic diner food with a lot of variety. My favorite I’ve gotten here is a burger with caramelized onions and bleu cheese, but I can’t remember the name of it. Oh well. My friend is vegetarian and had no problem finding a wide variety of food available to her. Bonus—the coffee is great. Prices are very reasonable and, for this area, they quite frankly are a steal. The clientele is relaxed, and not too fussy. During busy brunch hours, it has always been loud enough for our conversation to be anonymous but not loud enough that we could not hear each other. Overall, I just really like Nookies, and I will be checking out their other Chicago locations.
Great atmosphere/food/& service
I recommend the cheeseburger
Really good breakfast skillets. Worth the wait. You will wait for a table on a Saturday morning
Think diner. Good food, and good service. Line goes quick if there is one.
Breakfast, lunch or dinner, it's all that & more. Always a good consistent meal. Breakfast is fantastic. I love going there in the evening and having the corned beef hash, wonderful. Don't think about it, just go eat there! My reviews are for the best of the best. Like & Share.
Bring back the old fried potatoes.
Really great food at reasonable prices
great neighborhood place. reasonable prices, byob. and excellent food.
Had a Denver Omelette and hash browns, both were surprisingly tasteless. No seasoning and the cheese on the omelette was clumped together and covered up the flavors of the eggs, ham, and peppers. I will try it again, maybe a bad omelette or maybe I should try their pancakes or French toast which diners at my table enjoyed.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Great neighborhood diner.
Simple, classic dishes at this neighborhood spot. Good service and clean restaurant.
Down to Earth, clean diner with a bevy of breakfast, lunch and dinner options. Service was friendly and swift. The serving sizes are gargantuan! I was only able to finish half of my monte carlo and sweet potato fries. The split pea soup was amazing. I'll definitely be back.
I love Nookies. The staff are awesome and incredibly friendly, there's all sorts of awesome food on the menu, and everything is delicious. I love to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner there.
Sooooooooo Gooooo! The food, service, decor, and atmosphere was amazing. Friends of mine took me here while I was in town since it is their “go to spot” and I can see why!! If I lived in Chicago I would be in there everyday. I had the crab cakes and they were amazing and competitive with coastal restaurants!!! Go here if you live here or your even just driving through!! It will be worth it, I guarantee!!
great food with cheap price, lots of young guys, great and quiet location
Fresh food, fast service!
Great breakfast place if u can get in or find parking.. Great food! Needs just a lil more friendlier welcoming ambience in the new host. Otherwise, an excellent place to get a wonderful breakfast or brunch..
Absolutely delicious! I had the best steak salad which was full of flavor and tender, with a yummy pesto dressing. We also got a chocolate chip cookie... sooooo good! Oh, and I forgot to mention the owner is so nice. He wants to make sure everyone has a great experience.
Great staff and food
Good service. Tasty.
Nice place
the coffee tasted very strange. I am a tourist and I've never seen eggs look like an actually paper napkin. super cozy though.
I love the community vibe I get from this place. If I was a local I could see myself eating here daily. This place is family owned. Not fancy, but really good food. I had the grilled chicken sandwich and potato soup. The sandwich was really good and the potato soup was one of the best I have ever had. Also, the customer service was really good.
Excellent food. Great omletes. Higher priced but worth it.
Great classic Chicago breakfast spot...
Really good classic place for a big American breakfast. Not the cheapest but they do give you huge portions
I had a very negative experience. It was challenging to get accommodations for my food allergy and the waitress was very rude. it might be the worst response I have ever had from a server. I get that it can be frustrating to deal with allergies, but its not something I have a choice on. I’m sure others have had positive experiences, they are always pretty busy but if you have a need for accommodations regarding an allergy or celiac I would not recommend Nookies
fast service, good food and prices are ok. the owner, I think, was very kind and did accommodate our table request- thank you! portions are rather on the big side so you get a decent amount of food vs. money spend. it's a bit of an old school dinner but it's great if you want to experience where "the locals are hanging out"
Amazing place to have breakfast. We decided to eat here and it did not disappoint! We had the eggs Benedict and it was delicious! Everyone was friendly and the service was fast and wonderful! Highly recommended!
I once loved this place but was sadly disappointed by my recent visit. Service was a bit slow but friendly. Our water glasses were dirty and we mentioned it to the staff. They brought us new ones but the new glasses were also dirty. I ordered the French Toast, supposedly made with brioche bread. French toast should be rich and creamy, especially at a breakfast place; the French Toast I was served was dry in center, completely unsweetened, tasted like can white bread and cooked without butter or salt. When we mentioned this to the waiter get said that it was special order brioche despite the fact that it wasn't (I'm a baker). They didn't even take it off the bill or offer to get something else. Very disappointing.
Great food dope service
Ordered the Jalisco, it was good, opens early and the staff are friendly
Lots of very good food, and very reasonable prices. There's also a really generous menu and they serve breakfast all day!
Good breakfast casual dinner family style
Great option for brunch! They currently have some autumn specials that are really yummy. Really different waffle, French toast, and pancake options. I had the croque madame, which was sort of like a monte cristo with egg and gruyere sauce... amazing!
Great place to have breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. I tried the crepes with mixed fresh strawberries, cheese cream and apple with cinnamons and they were amazing. The next day I tried the breakfast sandwich with eggs, bacon and potatoes and was very very good and rich. I would suggest this typical American diner to all the tourists spending time in Chicago.
A gem in that neighborhood
Good food at a great price
Banana Nut Pancakes and Amy's omelet where amazing. Great fast service.
The pancakes were delicious! The Apple Cranberry Crunch pancakes and sausage patties were delectable!
each time I walk in here I feel like I'm waiting to meet up with George and Elaine while possibly having a surprise visit from Kramer
Great service and great food.
Fresh orange juice and a amazing frittata! This place gets packed quickly so make sure you go early!
Nice place, good service, large servings
I once loved this place but was sadly disappointed by my recent visit. Service was a bit slow but friendly. Our water glasses were dirty and we mentioned it to the staff. They brought us new ones but the new glasses were also dirty. I ordered the French Toast, supposedly made with brioche bread. I really enjoyed the food. It was real food. Like the ones we cook at home. I am giving 4 stars beacause the waiter was rude. Maybe she was having a bad day I don't know. It will not stop me from going back
Cozy spot. This place was very close to our hotel so we decided to try it and it did not disappointed.
Nice brunch place! Service was good and food were good!
Excellent food and service
Good food. Great service. Nice family restaurant
It was very yummy, it had a nice atmosphere at an extraordinary price. A hidden gem or Chicago.
Had breakfast here two days in a row. The food and service were great. The prices seem a bit high but maybe it's reasonable for the location.
Nookies has lost is charm, service was really bad, food was very dry and awful. We use to live in the neighborhood and had a very find memories so came back to relive the experience but very beyond disappointed.
Excellent food and service. It is understandable as to why Nookies is a corner stone of the Chicago life style.
Standard American diner food with a friendly staff. It's easy. I would give it 3 stars for the food, but it meets expectations and the staff earns the extra star.
Pretty quick for lunch and the food is okay. Average dinner food.
Good food and big portions with unlimited coffee refills. Friendly staff.
My 2nd date with my new friend great omelettes. So big it's good for two meals
Consistent at delicious. Been coming here for 15+ years. Never a disappointment.
Classic homey diner located in old town. Great view of some nice Chicago building and a road with mild traffic. Though I mostly go for breakfast everything I have had has been amazing and I am sure they carry the standard through the rest of the day! Stop in and eat while on the north side!
pricey but good food. street parking if u r lucky
Solid experience with the hostess and server. Despite having what seemed like a dozen tables he managed to give standard attention. The downsides would be the "feel" of the place. Definitely worth checking out!
This has been one of my favorites for years. Worth the wait on the weekends and quick service during the week. My personal favorite is the Gouda/Veggie/Egg breakfast sandwich on a croissant. Easily enough for 2!
I don’t understand the fuzz about this place. The waitress wasn’t interested in us at all. The orange juice was almost warm and without taste, the coffee was so dark (mostly because of the over roasted cheap beans - and i don’t mean the price the shop pays) and the pancakes dry. Probably i am a critical person, but i think there are better options for breakfast around the block.
I visited this place for brunch. We did not know there was going to be a wait and the front dest person was right on on the wait time. We waited for about 20 mins and we were in. The staff was friendly and accomudating. The food was good and was priced right for chicago. This place is worth a try. Only reason I am taking off a star is because 1. The coffee they were serving did not have consistency in taste 2. Floor was kind of shabby with crumbs scattered all over the place. I had breakfast sandwitch with ham and croissant. I felt it was a bit bland and the bottom part of croissant was kind of sawgy. There wasn't a lot of flavor except for ham and mozzarella.
Loved the breakfast!
Great service, food and friendly atmosphere.
Nice friendly staff. Great service. Excellent food.
Nice and chilled diner. Service was good and quick. Portions also decent and so was the quality of the food.
Great place for breakfast/brunch! Food was of excellent quality and the staff were great!
Byob restaurant in Lincoln park. Went there for breakfast this morning. Good steak and eggs. Big menu.
This was such a wonderful place! I highly recommend the cinnamon roll pancakes!
Good food with large portions and excellent waiter. Prices were higher than our small home town in Michigan. But, that is expected with a large city.
The go to for place in old town a Chicago institution
Good breakfast
Went on a slow Monday morning. Happened to have 3 different servers, ask for our order before we we're ready and settled. During our meal our coffee was never refilled. No one was walking around checking that, even though there was a lot of restaurant help this day. When we did get a refill after paying, the new coffee in our cups was not hot, just warm. The service was absolutely nothing special, which is frustrating because the food was actually, not worth being there for really at all. I have had better biscuits and gravy at "free hotel breakfast." Sadly, their was no flavor in the gravy and the crepes that I had were as thick as pancakes and they were so saturated in icing that I literally had fear of turning diabetic. This dining experience left me feeling deflated, and wondering to myself what the true highlight of this nook is. I feel, that the convenience to residents in that area and the lack of other food choices around that specific area, are why this restaurant has shined thus far.
Went here recently with a former friend. Unfortunately she (the nervous type!) suddenly had to leave so I ended up eating by myself. Oh well... Ordered a backened catfish sandwich and some fries. The fries appeared to have been sitting around because they were served lukewarm. Didn't feel like sending them back, just endured it. Server was efficient, just not especially friendly. Tab came to 13 bucks and the tip came to 3. All in all it was just meh, probably won't go back. Not really a destination place, it's just there.
Nice and quaint neighborhood eatery. Good food. Not overly priced for the neighborhood.
Delicious Pulled pork, great job
Very good food and waiters
Very good food in a quaint environ
Groovy diner with large portions
A little expensive
Delicious brunch, yummy food, good service
Good service food above average
Best brunch place ever!
I like runny eggs. My eggs we're almost completely raw. Also the whole staff was on their phone on the floor because it wasn't busy.
Pretty good service, very good food with a casual environment. Large servings so make sure you are hungry.
So I came while in the neighborhood and thought it was good, but not a 45min wait good, wouldn't do that again, but it was okay. My kids like their french toast and I got the spinach and feta omelette, nothing special and really pricey. Won't return but wasn't bad.
Great food.
I come to Chicago once a year to visit a friend and enjoy some good sports. Nookies is the only restaurant in the city I consistently return to. Their food is amazing, staff is friendly, and they serve great coffee. I highly recommend Nookies if you are visiting or in Chicago.
