This Coffee Shop is included in the category of American restaurant.
Been here twice, I got a skillet both times and they were really good! A bit heavy on the peppers, but I enjoyed them both. Great variety on the breakfast menu which I like to see. Service is always up to par, staff is nice. Definitely a go-to breakfast spot in the area.
The food is pretty good and sometimes even special. It is not cheap but fair priced for what you get. The service is good and the seating is comfortable. Outside service weather allowing.
Best Cobb salad, eggs Benedict, friendly, efficient service
Always good. Sometimes the service can be slow but mostly because they are super busy.
Drinks were good, food was disgusting would not visit again.
Wonderful brunch before leaving Chicago. Delicious food good atmosphere. A great ending to a wonderful visit.
Nice place for american food. service is prompt even when they are busy. service is consistently great. bring your appetite because portions are large.
Too busy. Too good.
Great chicken pot pie and pork schnitzel. Bread pudding the best
Great ambience and food
Basic fare but good. Ambiance is good, clean and airy. Nice patio. Is a bit expensive (tea: $4.75, lunch can be over $20 for a sandwich or salad, fries and a drink).
Never had a bad experience here. Staff is friendly and attentive. Good food and good service. Manager is almost always on site greeting customers and walking the floor. Free parking in back of restaurant is a huge plus!!
Stopped in on a quiet Tuesday afternoon. Solid spot for a good lunch. Large enough menu there is something for everyone. Clean. Well staffed.
Casual sit down place never fails to satisfy Burgers, daily special and stalwarts like beef stroganoff are all good choices if you go in expecting food like at home.....not fancy just well prepared and tasty
Way overpriced. Coffee is scalding and the food lacks seasoning, often charred. The service is great, but the food is such a disappointment. Cream of chicken soup is good.
Nice, clean place, with great service. The food was good, pretty standard for breakfast. No wait on a Sunday around noon.
Great place to eat! Wonderful food and friendly staff. They no longer do all day breakfast, so know that. Breakfast ends at 3pm. The food comes in such big portions! Very Midwestern. The meat is delicious and we had a great meal. Not too expensive.
They burned every thing. Including the toast. Plus, the menu online is not accurate. Everything is much more expensive in the restaurant, and frankly, not worth what it costs. I paid $15 for a bland brisket scramble and my waiter was incredibly inattentive. I've had better breakfasts at coffee shops for half the price. Not all that glitters is gold, friends. I'd highly recommend Phlour or Zanzibar for a better breakfast and both of which are just steps away.
Got home from dinner last nite.had food posioning, Was throwing up all night.
Great brunch and service.
Loved it! I had the Eggs Benedict sndy wife had a breakfast sandwich, both were delicious! I highly recommend!
Brunch cocktails were great.
One of my favorite restaurants. Had my sister's Repast here and Andreas and his team were so caring and professional. Service, food and atmosphere were all excellent!
Nice food good service
Tasty, American-style food. Go for the sweet potato fries.
Favorite place to eat when in Chicago. Good food and great service.
The pulled pork was soooooo goooooood
Solid breakfast, great coffee, friendly service. My go to spot for breakfast when I'm in my home base.
Good customer service overall. Initial lady to bring water had a little attitude but my server Joey was very nice. Now this place was Slightly pricier than expected for a breakfast/brunch spot. Had some sweet potato fries with chipotle Mayo and it was great!!! Most sweet potatoes fries are too soft. These were perfect match of soft w/ a crunch. The chipotle mayo was a great combo!
Came two days in a row because the food was so damn good. Beth was our server the first day, and she was fantastic. Kinda wish she was the second day, too. Our waitress seemed to be new, or maybe her section was too large. Beth even came over to say hi since she remembered us from the day before! Mimosas were all delicious. Had some stuffed french toast that was unbelievable. Wish we had a spot like this near where we live. Thanks Beth!
I've been to this restaurant a couple times and I've never been fully impressed each time I went. The last time I went, I order a goat cheese scramble, which had a hair in it as soon as it was brought to my table. While I was eating my re-made order, I noticed a large spider in the corner as I was eating. A few hours later I got sick from the food that I ate and my boyfriend was not feeling good as well. While I asked our server to re-make my food, as a fellow server myself, I felt like our server could have done more to meet our needs. I was extremely disappointed and I will not be returning in the future.
It works well enough for a casual meal. It’s conveniently located near the L and the neighborhood is quaint. However, the high prices relative to the food you get is a bit disappointing, and the other Nookies locations have a stronger sense of what an American diner is like.
Great atmosphere & laid back environment. I thought the french toast was delicious, fair prices like any other diner, and service was top notch. 10/10 will come back!
Good stuff! Friendly service and nice menu, will be back!!
Outside of breakfast/brunch, the menu isn’t too special. Service is great.
Very overrated, the food very much taste less, half of the hash browns were burned. The waiter never came back, so I just had one cup of coffee. The restaurant had only 3 tables busy so they didn't care much about the service I guess.
Good food and can get a drink outdoor seating in summer
Note to management: We’re fairly regular at this location and normally I would give a 4 star rating. 2 stars this time, based solely on the fact that our server was chewing and cracking gum for the duration of our visit. Very unappealing and unappetizing. If you don’t have a policy about chewing gum, you should.
Great service and food.
Nice room and staff. Average everything else ... Sometimes average is cool. It's the menu you'd expect.
We went for brunch. The atmosphere was very welcoming, but the food definitely left much to be desired, especially for the price. The wait staff seemed a little disconnected and our waiter kept trying to put his hand on my shoulder, which made me very uncomfortable. We left feeling very disappointed and won't be going back anytime soon.
I always love the folks here. :)
Excellent service & the food was great. Very fresh. Going back soon!
Great Food and Atmosphere
Delicious, great service.
This is one of my regular go to places in the neighborhood. The food is consistently great and the service is on point and friendly. They have a full bar with great mimosas and bloody marys for brunch. The brunch selection is great, from healthy options to decadent. In the summer they have a nice patio as well. Highly recommended place
Great breakfast, brunch and lunch place. It is big which is good because it is real busy on weekends. Coffee is better than most. The food and selection are great!
The patio is great in the summer. Service was really good and the food was tasty. Plus Steigl Radler with a shot of Hendricks is delicious.
TOO EXPENSIVE $$.... Almost $20 just for hamburger. Ended up having Shrimp Scampi for 12.99 and a glass of wine at 7.50. Definitely way to casual atmosphere for PRICING. Shrimp was very good and portion was very small. Didn't have phone to take picture, would have been curious just to see what there $20 hamburger came with and like.
Great place to eat.
Very good second chance
The food is great. The hot cocoa is amazing. Staff is friendly. It's a modern, open space with large windows. There is free parking in the back (have to go down the alleyway). Love it!
Love Nookies! I haven't been to the Wells spot but the edgewater location is wonderful. Their brunch is very good and reasonably priced and their dinner is just as good. I've never had a problem with their wait staff and they're always quick to refill water/coffee. The patio in the summer is incredible.
Quality diner with good range of dishes, delicious coffee, and lots of room which turns into little wait time.
Good food but the price has gone up ..not very cost friendly...
Great place for brunch! Will be back to try their lunch and dinner options.
It's nothing fancy, but I can't imagine diner food done better. And it feels more like a restaurant than a diner. It might be a little expensive, but you see where the money went. I'd recommend it.
Awesome food and staff, Roberto is our favorite manager!!!
Great diner food. Lovely space.
Excellent breakfast and service!
Food is good.... Pretty well service
Totally uninteresting food in a chaotic atmosphere
Great service and good drinks! Just FYI the portions are big.
Fun times with family! Great menu options
I like a Nookies. It's so close to my home. I like spend time there with my friends and my girlfriend. There are a lot of different options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can find what you would like. But sometimes their waiters are not so friendly. But if you want to eat something tasty spend time with your friends or even have a meeting, I can recomend Nookies for you!
The food is excellent and the service is friendly.
Great breakfast in Edgewater. (Tweet has the best breakfast food in Edgewater) Nookies has the best environment and strawberry orange juice!
The food and atmosphere match the wonderfully casual and all inclusive neighborhood which it resides. Upscale comfort food. Staff full of great recommendations as well as friendly personalities. For families and first dates, alike.
I know this much. They do food right at Nookies Edgewater.
We had a good experience here on our first visit in many years. The service was excellent for an early dinner (restaurant was quiet) and the food was fast and delicious in reasonable portions. Only one "complaint" is that the prices are exorbitant which lowers the overall value and makes it less of a standout compared to other options. There are better places to go for your money for the same level of experience.
The ambiance here was the best thing this place had to offer, with nice music and seating. However, the back room seems to be an add on which didn’t get the same access to music and lighting, so had a more drab feel. The food was below average and very pricey, with low quality corned beef hash and a dry Monte Christo. Denver omelet was good according to my buddy. Service was fine. Portions were sizable as if to make up for their lack of flavor.
Great food, huge portions, large selection, and very professional service.
Great flow of fresh faces and food. You might stop by if you're thirsty too.
Very rude manager!! We ordered the beyond burger that the manager agreed was cooked on the same grill as regular meat, and my son became sick to his stomach after a few bites. He was not apologetic nor empathic. He refused to listen to us, only tried to explain to what a beyond burger is. Of course we already knew that. He was very unprofessional and rude. Although they have many vegetarian options they don’t know how to properly and safely cook them. Be very careful if you can’t eat meat and order food here. There are so many better options near by.
Shrimp pasta dish was great and so was the waiter.
Croissant French toast with strawberries, Bacon Cheddar Spinach omelet with hashbrowns
They have great dishes. My favorite is the enchiladas.
9$ generic buttermilk pancakes. Very basic and cheap looking. Not tasty. Could make better ones at home. 13.50$ mediocre blue berry pancakes. Blue berry syrup was the only saving grace. Over cooked hashbrowns. Dry. Bit burnt. Stuck together mostly and not very enjoyable. Overpriced drinks but havent tried them to justify price. Banana nut pancakes were good. But missing banana pieces. I wont be back because these are my breakfeast choices and with the high price and low quality I dont see why I would come back here. Friendly staff, waiters, and proffessional that day. Nice atmosphere and decor. Big windows for some good lighting.
Nookie's is my favorite neighborhood restaurant. Tonight I tried the chicken marsala and it was DELICIOUS
The chicken cacciatore was a little acidic and salty for me. Generous portion. The brownie with ice cream and caramel was 5 star. It literally made my day. More of a fine dining atmosphere than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise. The menu was like elevated bar or dinner food. I will be going back for dessert.
It's a huge, amazing diner with amazing food, good service, rare to have a wait, and giant portion sizes. They offer a flight of their seasonal breakfast desserts (pancakes, French toast, etc.). I've never been able to finish a full meal there. The omelettes are delicious, but also gigantic. I come after workouts, so I'm hungry, but easily get two meals out of an entree. They have a bar, tables and booths. Lots of windows, and a friendly staff.
Overpriced meh. Was here for a late breakfast. Atmosphere was ok. Food was bland. Way overpriced. 3 non alcoholic drinks was $12 alone, on top of the food.
Good food however, should clean bathrooms more regularly
The food was delicious and made to our preference...waitstaff was very pleasant!
Stumbled upon this awesome place. Food was great. I will return.
The breakfast me and my fiance had was amazing. I had the plum bread pudding pancakes and she had the corned beef hash and eggs. I will definitely be coming back on my next trip to Chicago.
Had the cherry pancakes this morning. The food at Nookies is always delicious, and very filling. It's a unique boutique restaurant that everyone should visit, whether a resident off Chicago or a visitor. I think it would be hard to be disappointed by any choice on the menu or the ambiance.
The food was pretty good, but the service was just average.
I love this place. My waiter was awesome. He made sure I had everything I need. He treated me like Royalty. Thank you for hiring such a great person. The food was good. Very clean environment.
It's good, but it's getting expensive Staff is great
Great place with good food and friendly staff. Definitely worth a try
Good-to-great establishment with accommodating chefs (thank you to those who prepared my pasta almost entirely different from what was on the menu; my date had some cravings). Cute outdoor seating where you can watch passersby, which is fun 3/4 of the time. The other fourth of the time the homeless people from that neighborhood like to sit at that corner and occasionally shame you about eating..... The restaurant responds professionally and properly asks them to leave you alone. Apart from all this, which is not their fault, this place is good, albeit sometimes unremarkable, eating and with what I would call appropriate pricetags.
Good but not great. Host could of been more cordial, the server more attenative. Atmosphere great, food appetizing. This coming from someone who has been in the food service industry.
I’ve been here countless times for breakfast, and it’s always delicious. From the jalusco wrap to the eggs Florentine (veggie) to the basil and goat cheese scramble, you can’t go wrong. In the summer, they have a beautiful outdoor patio. This location also has free parking (I think you have to access from the alley or Hollywood Ave), and it’s rarely crowded for breakfast.
Great place, nothing like there other locations.
A modern ambiance than the original location. The food was clean, flavorful, and fulfilling. Our server Beth was awesome! Definitely will make this a weekend breakfast staple.
Overpriced and the food is mediocre. Gave it those stars for my waitress.
Excellent place for breakfast!
Great place for breakfast and lunch.
The food is tasty and the service is usually pretty good. It is the atmosphere is the only thing that brings it down one star for me. They play classical music and the decor make it feel like it is for an older generation. And the clientele seems to bear that out. But the sweet potato fries are awesome. I'll keep coming back for that.
Always good service, good prices, and dependably delicious food. It's a good place to meet with a group of people or have a meal by yourself. Outdoor seating is very nice, as is the indoor seating. You can get breakfast to dinner and even cocktails.
Huge portions and awesome drinks
Pretty good food. Nothing to complain. Classic brunch place
It is always a pleasure to be served here!
Great food. Reliably!
This place is great! I love how fresh the food is and the friendly upscale dinner vibe.
For a breakfast place in the neighborhood is great ! Specially that their dishes a huge, you can always share. Coffee is always great and service is spot on. I always come back for the service and the good coffee.
Wonderful food and service in a great atmosphere! Ask for Beth to be your server!
Awesome place for brunch... great selection. Scott is a super waiter!
Great food inviting atmosphere decent prices
I used to love nookies. Like this was the prefer combination of everything great 5 years ago. If the coffee was stronger and pancakes returned to their greatness from 5 years ago when they added vanilla extract and they tasted like yellow cake batter, this place would get 5stars. Nonetheless it's a solid choice beautiful ambiance, great service, solid options. I like their breakfast the most but t no longer reigns supreme because above mentioned issues.
Excellent food, better than other Nookie's restaurants. My son's favorite restaurant
Good food, but they don't take reservations on the weekend, and the parking in the area really stinks. I think the little lot that they have only holds 6 or so cars.
Used to be great food for the price, but prices have gone up too much recently.
Lovely staff, nice atmosphere
extremely expensive but a nice experience
no matter what time of day or which plate I try, Nookies consistently delivers in terms of taste, value, service and care. grateful to have this staple in the neighborhood!
Their succatash tasted off. The serving sizes are very large, and there are lots of seating booths. The rest of our meal was decent.
This place is good! I’ve been 3 times and I’ve walked away pleasantly surprised each time! The lemon poppy French toast is AWESOME! The mimosas are strong and fresh. Great spot for brunch. The restaurant is large so I’ve never waited for a seat. They also have a patio during the summer!
Best breakfast place in Chicago. Farmer’s eggs skillet is awesome.
Best eggs benedict in the city. I get the Paris Benedict, it has Texas toast and bacon so you could almost have called it a "down home benedict" or "Texan benedict" I guess it's Paris because of the gruyere. Great patio and friendly service.
Great variety on the menu, food was excellent. Service was amazing.
The service is great, the dining area is spacious. Mimosas are nice, breakfast and lunch menu is vast.
Went for a late lunch on the weekend. Plenty of empty tables and we were still met with smiles. The food was tasty but not out of this world. Metered street parking is available and they accept credit cards. I would probably visit again if I wanted a relatively quiet/empty place to eat breakfast for lunch.
It's was great nailed! Their food is cheap, healthy, good and fast!
I highly recommend the Smokehouse omelet. Delicious!
one of the best breakfast spots on the north side.
Service was great, but the food was very bland. $10 for French toast that had almost no flavor at all.
The menu is expensive but every dish I've had is good. I especially like going here for brunch. I've never had to be wait long for a table and the service is top notch.
Great cute spot. Awesome service. Food was great. I had Egg Benedict.
1st time here for breakfast and I think it's going to be habit forming. OMG the food was simply amazing
Comfortable, good food, attentive staff. Pretty much checks all the boxes.
Pretty good food and perfect for larger groups! Sometimes it’s hard to get a table on Clark St but this place always has a good crowd and extra space. It is a massive place and has a back dining room with doors that can be closed off for private dining.
Really good and staff is amazing. There is one waiter there that is really nice and friendly :) but I forgot his name
Just discovered this place. Great for a brunch!
Great food and service. My personal favorite was the skillets! Great for brunch/ hangover gatherings.
My husband and I were at the Edgewater location for breakfast. The food was pretty good. The crowd was very diverse. The only thing was, the service was a little lackluster. From the greeter, to the waiter.
Roomy, upscale and modern, yet casual. High ceilings make for a spacious feel. Food is always very good to exceptional. Service is fast, friendly, and helpful. Quiet atmosphere lends to easy conversation. Great meeting place.
