Mean Bean is amazing. We got a pound of Black magic and love it. They have an endless list of flavors and is really unique. Had a great visit with the owner and loved just hanging out in there...The smell of roasting beans was great! Can’t wait to return to Galena someday....Mean Bean will be our first morning stop!

This was the highlight spot on my trip to Galena. The Coffee is awesome and upon noticing the tea....simply heaven!! I think the lady that helped my wife and I was named Veronica, I cant remember I'm sorry. I recommend this place and I will promise to visit this place over and over when I next visit Galena.

Phenomenal coffee place, they had several seasonal specialty drinks I got a blueberry shortbread latte. IT was delicious! And the had hundreds of flavors you could add, looked like they were all sugar free, and he could even make your own custom blend to take hime with you. We were just visiting in galena, but I really wish I had a coffee place like this near me, I would be thwre every day

Wandered through this place while we were in Galena a couple weeks ago. It's a cute little coffee shop that makes a decent cup of coffee. Highly recommend stopping in here for a cup of coffee next time you're strolling through main street. They also offer a small selection of pastries if you're looking a bite to eat. There's plenty of seating if you're looking for a place to get some work done.

We went in for some iced coffee which turned out to be great. We saw a sign to ask about their doughnuts, so we did and bought some of their mini doughnuts. These doughnuts were awful, stale and crumbly. We had driven away already, but I would have asked for a refund if we hadn’t!

Awesome Coffee Experience! I believe it's something like 6000 different coffee flavor combinations.... and if you can't decide you can take a dart and throw it at the menu board to help you make up your mind! Delicious coffee and really good tea selection as well. When you're in Galena I would definitely make a point to stop into the Mean Bean.

This is a terrific little shop in Galena. They have a series of wonderful roasts and flavored coffees available. We picked up a box of the k cup style pods that they have so that we could try 12 of them without buying a pound or more of each type. There is also an expresso bar located in the shop and they are able to make you a wide variety of specialty drinks. If you are I'm the area and you like coffee at all this shop is definitely with stopping in to check it out.

Neat concept the owner has here. Available by the cup or bag, you can customize your own blend from numerous flavors. My latte was pretty good, could have been better, but that was my fault for picking a strange combination of flavors! Give it a try if you are in town.

The intoxicating aroma was incredible and led us right inside! David is so incredibly sweet, and he made me the BEST iced chai tea latte I’ve ever had. Such a warm environment with delicious coffee and incredible apple cider donuts! We will be returning ASAP :)

Ordered a Caramel macieato, 2 drinks took way too long probably 5 minutes. They tasted terrible, there was no caramel and tasted like straight espresso. Won't go back

Really potent coffee get a pour over. The coffee by the lb is very expensive though. Not a fan of hazelnut coffee but that's just my taste. If you like that then this is a good place for that.

I like coffee however coffee with no added flavoring so maybe their business model doesn't fit what I was looking for. Took a long time to get the coffee. 4 seats total, metal, not comfortable. no space to sit and drink coffee. Was charged almost $8 for 2 medium cups of black coffee. A standard price for black coffee is $2 at Starbucks, the most expensive typically. No menu and no prices on anything. Just odd. The woman working their had her personal items and a half empty container of Welch's juice sitting next the product. Lots of health code violations that I could see standing behind the counter. Wasn't professional looking at all. It did like the cartoon style logo, pretty funny and cute. Sorry, maybe it just doesn't fit what I thought it was, a coffee shop,

Great place for coffee. A little expensive but if you want a really great flavored coffee to take home ask for a pound of Bourbon, Maple, Pecan. It's wonderful!!

The coffee is terrible. I don't know what beans they roast, but they are very bottom shelf. I guess you wouldn't use high end beans when you plan on soaking them in "flavored" ointment so that makes sense. And the flavors? They are highly concentrated little ointment bottles where they squeeze drops onto the beans in the bag and then shake it all around. Kind like chicken shake n' bake. But with coffee beans. I bought 3 little bags, reasonably priced, but all taste kinda the same - over-roasted (closer to dark than medium), over-the-top bitter, and oh so very acidic. If that's how you like your coffee, then this is the place for you. Customer service was top notch though, very friendly, and polite.

Wonderful experience every time we see there! Andrew and staff are exceptional and very knowledgeable. The winter drinks right now are delicious! I'd suggest you try the lavender chai latte.

Shop is cute (it's in downtown Galena after all) and in speaking with the barista she seemed attentive and knowledgeable. They have their roasting equipment set up in the front store, with one small table with two stools for sitting. I asked about the sourcing of their coffee and she said it was all fair trade, organic from a large spread of coffee producing countries. They put triples into their drinks (~90ml of espresso) and for the size I'd expect only a double. Price wasn't outrageous either.
