Walked in solo on a Wednesday night to see a bustling restaurant and full bar. Fortunately, there was one spot open at the bar. I started with a great cocktail that had Tarragon on the name which was tasty. I ordered three items and only one of which the server said was a popular dish but I swear the other two I had should be on that list. The seared Sea Scallops were great especially with the pistachio nuts in the sauce to create a nice crunch and flavor. The next was Crispy Short Ribs... And I have no idea how these aren't a favorite but they were delicious. The perfect crisp on the outside met with a tender, moist short rib on the inside. Finally the Goat Belly Confirm with lumps of Crab and Lobster was a bust of buttery and savory flavors that made me wish I had another order. Can't wait for my next visit business trip to Chicago because I'll be back here.

Wandered in completely unaware that this is a Top Chef owned restaurant...at dinner time. The hostess was kind, and clear that without a reservation I would be waiting an hour for a table. She invited me to sit at the then-packed, standing-room-only bar. I walked the length of the bar... not a long walk and when I returned to the front, a party of three got up to leave, affording me a choice of seating. Good things happen in good places. I received my drink about 3 minutes later! The menu has great variety without being overwhelming. There are vegan and vegetarian options which would satisfy any carnivore. The dishes are small plates, so expect to order two dishes per person...which is actually a good thing because it’ll be difficult to choose just one. I got my first dish about 5 minutes after I order and the second about 10 mins after that order. Almost freaky fast for such good food. The ambience is low lit and comfy. The dining area is abuzz with chatter, but you won’t have to talk loud to be heard by your company. Combing international and national travels and the cuisines it’s afforded me, I would rank Girl & The Goat in my top 5. Pretty nice for a happy accident!

Good food. Best service. Very affordable pricing

The best food experience we had in Chicago. Great service with perfect suggestions... The menu was well written designed to highlight the stars of each dish. The Food Wow..... The food was everything we hoped for and more... The Stars shined and the garnishes and sauces were the perfect yet subtle assistants. Every bite was well thought out and not over done... A truly unique and special dining experience... CHEERS!!! Chef CZ

Amazing food, amazing service! Extremely thoughtful and delicious but approachable food served in a friendly, comfortable environment.

Arthur F.

Phenomenal food! Perfectly prepared, interesting dishes. Highlights were short ribs and goat belly. Beautiful restaurant. 4/5 stars due to very rushed feeling of service. Bussers were hovering, taking plates as my fork grabbed the last bites, before I put the food in my mouth.

Dallas Keir

We just went to the restaurant. I did the reservations 3 weeks in advance. Since it has so many high reviews and I was very excited to try it. But actually it's just a very normal restaurant like so many other places. We ordered few popular dishes, pig face, goat belly, the whole wood fired branzino and goat liver mousse.

Charlotte Harper

For all the hype surrounding this place I would of expected much more taste and flavor then what I had received. Though the service was excellent I wasn't blown away with the food.

Peter Linko

Where to begin? I have dreamed of visiting this place and when we went to Chicago it was on my must go list! I think I was impressed the most with the bread. The olive oil and spread was amazing. Cow tongue was crispy and flavorful. Everyone raves about the Greens beans so we went that route- honestly wasn’t blown away like I thought I would. Overall a good, pricey dinner- definitely an experience.

Ameer Al Wafai

It’s very delicious. Not sure if really worth waiting 4 months for reservation to open up.

Jae Lee

Absolutely recommended if you are in Chicago!! Reservation is often full to several days out. If you try waiting before it opens at 4:30PM, you might get a table relatively soon. Pork Shank is the stomach-filler. Other foods were tiny but very special and good in taste. Don't get desert. It looks good, but honestly it wasn't that great in taste.

Tony Mountjoy

We had the oysters, the hummus, the goat skewers, and the pork shank... Everything was excellent.... Great mix of ingredients and flavors

Maggie Smith

Food was superb but service was not. Was very disappointed considering I made this reservation three months in advance. Our waitress was of no assistance. We asked her multiple times for recommendations and guidance in which she would tell us to ‘just get whatever you are feeling’ but she did not give us any information and simply didn’t act that she cared. Very disappointing all around. Don’t know if I would come back

Gina Knox

What an experience! I highly recommend The Girl & The Goat for a nice dining experience, date night, or just foodie heaven. This tapas style restaurant has amazing dishes to share. I can't recommend enough the duck tongues. I was very apprehensive at first about this weird sounding dish, but man am I glad we went for it!

Matteo Bertazzoli

Maybe the best in Chicago, because of the creativity to make unique every single simple meal combinations. Open kitchen is a pleasant extra to ad on your already super culinary experience. It never disappoints you. Hint: always impossible to get reservation, so just go there and they will found a seat for you, your date on your small group of friends. Truly recommended

What a gem! Had a fantastic dinner at the Girl & the Goat. Highly recommend making a reservation as it gets quite busy! The servers were very attentive and took the time explaining the menu, recommending some dishes, and providing the details of the special of the day. The goat special was the sausages, which were absolutely delicious. We got 6 dishes to share between 3 people. My favorite was the grilled shrimp - loved the avocado and strawberry garnishes.

Michael Forrest

That meal was spectacular. Sweet corn pierogi were unexpectedly amazing. The goat belly dish unreal. The empanadas were perfect. The desserts were necessary and wholly unnecessary. I'm in fat happy land.

Pila Boyd

Great food. Extremely busy. I called four times to inquire about getting a reservation. Immediately put on hold. After ten minutes each time I gave up. Decided to walk in. Wasn't able to get a table but did dine in the lounge area. Food was exceptional. Wait staff, very cordial. A little pricey.

Emily Bryleigh

The food is incredible tasty! Friendly and efficient service. The best experience ever. Thank you

Tommy Foster

Oh my gash Becky... look at the size of her pork shank! (more in that later)... We made reservations over a month ago (because they are booked out that far!) so worth the wait! The blueberry cornbread is light, fluffy and with just the right balance of moist and some zing from the pickled peppers. The green beans are delish but a little on the salty side- we helped the table next to use ask for light salt on theirs so hopefully it will balance out better for them. Get the pig face. Just do it- melt in your mouth delish with crunch from the potatoes. The special was the goat sausage with the most flavorful pita bread. Yum. Last but not least, the pork shank was mmmmmm . 4 courses for 2 people was too much food for us. The malt ball dessert is the ultimate in sweet-salty- chocolate- caramel. The manager, Patrick, and our server, Devin, made the whole night just the best.

Karen LeeLee

Amazing experience and service!!! Each plate has its own uniques of flavors and exceeded my expectations everytime. highly recommend!

Lynda Gerhart

Great selections of unique food. Excellent presentation and helpful, attentive staff. I'll be coming back here!

Russ Webster

Enjoyed every dish. Impeccable service. Reasonably priced for its reputation.

Randall Dellket

and another one great in town, try their salad green salad id goooood

John Allen

Came here with high expectations and all were met. Got there 15 mins before they opened on a Thursday night with no reservation and didn't have problem getting seats. Filled up soon after though. Service was great. Food was better. The green beans and salads were excellent. Scallops and everything pork was done very well. Best resto I had been to in a while. Save room for dessert.

Ilayda Ozsan

Best restaurant in West Loop! Love literally every dish

Pat Diaz

We had a great time at the restaurant..!! The waitress was nice and helpful with mene choices. The service was incredible, and the food was excellent. For starters, we've tried the oven-roasted cauliflower, wood-grilled broccoli and kohlrabi salad, in addition l...we tried the empanadas and the ora king salmon poke... Okay, than...we tried the short ribs and goat neck..!! For dessert, we had the yay for Apples and the lemon sherbet. Everything was perfect!! Promise to come back!!

John Narris

Very good food , best service

Charles Anderson

Amazing food, service, and cocktails. This place is a must visit. Don't be afraid to ask for recommendations from your server!

Dan Ly

Absolutely amazing. I didn’t have a reservation so I showed up when they first opened and they sat my party down but had to leave at a certain time. It was still plenty of time to enjoy it all. Wood oven roasted pig face, duck tongue, roasted cauliflower and goat empanadas is a must.

Jean Bicknell

Great atmosphere. Some innovative dishes but for the price and quality, way better places to dine in that same area in Chicago. May have been the worst lamb dish I've ever had at a restaurant. Ordered two of the exact same drinks. One was tasty and the other was not drinkable-had to leave it. For being a meat inspired restaurant veggies are hands down best tasting dishes but still overpriced.

Kim Ayres

Some of the food was over salted and being told to order so many dishes per person to share because they do small plates was off putting. I found there was not enough food for everyone to share on most of the dishes we ordered like the scallops, they only gave you two, the short ribs also was not enough to share if there are more than 2 people as well as the halibut and lamb skewers At the prices that are charged for those plates they should have more.

Lan Nguyen

Believe the hype! This place is always super crowded, and is definitely worth waiting for and a must go to place if you are a foody. Best way to explain the food is to compare this to food you typically find in France, where they combine lots of different flavors together to make unique great tasting entrees. Yes this place can be pricey but you get what you pay for. When you compare this to high class fancy restaurants, the food is just as good if not better, the portions are bigger, and the price will be cheaper too. They have lounge seating to the left where you can order drinks and food there as well. Best to get many plates and share them. Best restaurant in Chicago!

Jess Li

This place was a lot better than expected. Everything was good except the string beans. Avoid at all costs. It was undercooked and super salty.

Anne Halsey

Went to this restaurant for a date night when we first moved to Chicago. The food was amazing and the waiter was really nice. He explained everything and was accommodating to our last minute plans to have to bring our 2 month old.

Ana Rosa Amante

Great place to eat small dishes and share with the table. The price and quality of dishes is fair. They have a good section of vegetarian options. The services and environment are good.

Mohsin Khan

Great food. Great restaurant. Great service. There's a wait to get into the restaurant unless you book a month in advance; which is worth it. We sat at the chefs table which was interesting because you were right in front of the kitchen and could see everything being made. The restaurant even gave my girlfriend a complimentary dessert when I mentioned it was her birthday.

Dalt Brewsher

This is not a one time, been there done that, kind of place. Some of the menu items may shock you, duck tongue?, but you'll be amazed at how they are nothing like you imagined. You'll leave feeling like you've stepped out of your comfort zone but ready to come back to try others. Small plates for sharing and a full bar and wine list. We had the duck tongue, goat belly, short rib, pierogi, cauliflower and the Walleye. All were fantastic! You need to book well in advance. The place is always busy but in a very lively, friendly way. The staff was very attentive, helpful and super nice. Enjoy!

Tiffany Kwan

I couldn’t believe how difficult it was to get an online reservation for this spot until I experienced it for myself and then I understood the hype. The dishes are expertly prepared, flavors are phenomenal, and service is outstanding. We mentioned in passing that we had gone “goat hopping” the past two days and and our server Cesar ended up hooking it up with some complimentary bites! Make sure you order the goat empanadas and caramel corn & malt balls dessert. Definitely my favorites of the night.

Toast Galore

By far the best meal I’ve had while visiting Chicago. Service was great, food was phenomenal. Every dish was interesting and full of flavor. Highly recommend coming here.

Alexandra Orel

This restaurant is worth the hype! We came for a date and split the goat belly, which was so rich and delicious, and the pork shank, and the crab Rangoon squash blossoms. Each dish was delish, and pretty unique. We also got cocktails, and the old fashion was one of the best I’ve had. The servers were great, and I definitely would love to come back with a few more people to try even more dishes.

Kristine R

we have been at this restaurant 3x already and it was all during our wedding anniversary. this is a very popular restaurant and if i want to have that special dinner on our anniversary I have to make a mental note and remind myself that I need to place that reservation 2 to 3 mos ahead of time. We have never been disappointed with this restaurant, always full and vibrant atmosphere. Our favorites and highly recommended wood oven roasted pig face, escargot ravioli and crispy beef short ribs. we will be back this year again for our anniversary and we'll be ordering our favorites plus probably try a new one. Chef Izard has 2 other restaurants and we've tried the little goat diner, next in the list is the duck duck goat.

alex yen

Shareable portions kind of made me think negative thoughts but man, so wrong. The food is absolutely delicious and the portions were pretty good, considering the tapas style. Great vibe, great service and the ambiance was trendy, but not in an obnoxious or pretentious way. I will be back, this wasnt one of those 1 time experience deals. I want to try everything on the chef's menu. The pork face, short ribs, cauliflower, branzino and soft shell crabs were amazing!

Melissa Galbraith

Coworkers and I stopped in for mid-week dinner without a reservation. We were given plenty of seating options with prompt service. The food was delicious with small plates ranging in size from personal to shareable. I’d recommend this spot for a great casual dinner, but be prepared to spend a lot. These small plates are spendy.

Mike Franko

Fun, interesting menu. Enjoyed the pink oysters as well as the roasted cauliflower and pine nuts. Lamb was excellent also

Billy Venia

Um. This place is amazing. So good with so much value!

Ramon Feliciano

I can't believe they ran out of goat. Service was good for as packed as it was. The green beans everyone post about were ok , I thought overrated. Short rib was amazing. Honestly was expecting more from the food after all the hype but it wasent bad eaither.

Joshua Galka

EVERYTHING we had was delicious! And ask for Christopher - he's fantastic.

Robert Raskin

Food was outstanding had the goat empanadas, short ribs, and pig face. Service was good. Our server was very good with pairing wine selections to each dish.

Sunil Rao

O M G! What a place!! Even with outdoor seating, weeknights might be a little bit of a wait, but if you don't mind hanging out in the bar area - go for it. That's what a bunch of us did. Small plates - big prices! But definitely worth it. We ordered 9-10 different varieties to be shared and each one was better than the previous one. Shishito peppers, pig face, halibut, scallops. WOW! Definitely recommend the 'ring of fire' :-)

Thomas Christian

The dishes are savory, the cocktails go down easy, and the staff makes the experience that much better. Sitting at the high tops in front of the kitchen is as good as it gets. The chefs/cooks that overhear your conversations about the menu will offer small portions. They go above-and-beyond. Have been here several times and have never experienced anything less than exceptional.

Margaret Dorothy

The best dining restaurant I'd ever been to. The staff is polite and excellent. I love the roasted Pig Face and scallops, and sitting in front of the kitchen is as good as it gets. I would like to come again. Thanks for the good service.

olakunle olayinka

It nice one and I enjoyed my self with the way the server attention to us

Dorin Cindea

Great restaurant. Do try the goat dishes. Their cocktails are great also.

Kyle Bateh

Very cool place. Sophisticated yet casual. Small plates make it a great dinner option for groups and sharing. Have to try the goat empanadas or goat special! Shorts ribs were also crowd favorite

Aiting Wang

Try the whole fish and goat belly. It's amazing. The food here offers an oriental taste which i can find in local Chinese dishes. If you cannot find a reservation, try come at 4:30pm and you can find a bar seat.

Dj Rickerd

Bad news first… you cannot sanely charge $14 for an old fashioned made with Evan Williams. In fact, having a classy establishment such as this is made trashy by even serving such a sub-par bourbon… HOWEVER!… sub it for Woodford Reserve, enjoy some exquisite cuisine, and you’ll be just fine. The mixologist and chefs know what they’re doing here. It’s got a great vibe and amazing attention to detail despite a busy environment. Get your reservations early. Girl & the Goat is a must see destination in Chi Town.

Christopher Murray

Nice spacious atmosphere. Ambience is relaxing with beats floating in the background. Loved the wall of burnt wood. Scallops were tasty and hit the spot. Wait staff was attentive and informative. A place I would recommend giving a try. Had a few minor things to tweak but overall a good experience!

Zach Z

Well worth it. Staff remains better than most which is greatly appreciated. Every plate was delicious. The girl can cook.

Karly Orellana

Definitely worth the hype. The food was delicious and the ambiance made for a perfect date out. We went mid-week and after the dinner rush, so we were swiftly ushered to our seats and explained the menu. The server made great recommendations and was very sweet. Certainly a place to bring out of town visitors.

Jocelyn Ross

Very lively, very exciting atmosphere. Great dishes, huge variety. Wonderful staff! Great private party room.

Meredith Harrison

This place lives up to the hype! We loved absolutely everything we ate, including the goat belly, pork shank, and broccoli dishes. It is definitely a restaurant not to miss!

Bati Myles

Consistently amazing food. Highlights were the duck tongue, goat empanadas and goat belly. But seriously, you can't go wrong. And yeah you have to give away your first born to snag a reservation...but if you get there early you can snag a bar spot.

Jeffrey Rapadas

My first time here and everything was amazing! The food was delicious and it's a great place for groups ! We had a group of four which let us try multiple dishes and we weren't disappointed with anything we ordered. The scallops and surprisingly the duck tounge we my favorites. If you ever get a chance to eat here you won't regret it.

Tammy Owins

I’ve been dining at the bar since opening week. Preferring vegetable dishes-the Cauliflower, Chickpea fritters & Peppers are my favorites. 1/2 portions offered. Good beers, wines & cocktails...

chuck hart

Just drove into Chicago from St Louis and literally stumbled into Girl & The Goat. Cannot tell you how magical and wonderful the food was. Stunning and indescribably superb! That's all I can say. And the staff is amazing!!! Eight Stars in our book?

Lisa Gundvaldson

Great food experience and service. Fun work friends.

Camila Jales

Absolutely amazing! This place is a "MUST GO" when you're visiting Chicago. I recommend making a reservation before you go because they are very busy, we did our reservation 2 days in advance. The food is phenomenal and the service was great. A bit pricey but worth every penny.

S FO

Another delicious meal, deserves to be as busy as it is! Truly new preparations for some classic restaurant foods. Also, allows you to get half size portions for some of the dishes, so you can taste more tastiness!

Jess Wood

Adventurous menu! And if you are not, there’s something for you too! Shout out to Chef Jason who found my wallet. Returned with cash still in it! Good food! Great people!

E li

They have great drinks, try their "Ring of Fire", outstanding. I also liked the fact that when I asked if they had any vegan options they brought me a whole menu full of delectable vegan entrees. I will most definitely be visiting again!

Alla Obikhod

Amazing experience! Food was sooooo good! We have ordered 11 plates between 4 of us and every single item was fantastic! We had to try it all and it did not disappoint!Service was also great, super knowledgeable and friendly!

Eun Kwon

We were so excited to try this place. We waited thirty mins before they opened and got seating at the bar. Cocktails: not worth of your money. It was so surprisingly mediocre. Food: if you are Asian and you know exactly what papaya salad and other food taste like, you wouldn’t really like this place. I expected more tangy, sour, and sweet flavor of Food since it is definitely inspired by Asian food, but it couldn’t beat the originals. We spent around two hundred dollars trying different food, but we felt like it wasn’t worth of our money. I wouldn’t go back.

Steven Glass

Absolutely loved coming here and trying foods I've never had before. I was a big fan of the duck tongue and the salmon poke. The pig face wasn't bad either! The restaurant felt cozy and the staff were on point all night. I would definitely come back!

Lynn Fitz-Gerald

Fantastic food! Different dishes as well it adds a nice twist to just a regular menu. Our waitress was Devon and she was awesome. Would definitely go there again. Great atmosphere.

yessie susanto

First time trying girl and the goat after 3 months waiting for a reservation. My hubby raved about this place, but I guess I am not a big fan of fusion. For me the foods were just okay, it is full of creativity, but the taste, nothing spectacular, nothing really blew my mind. The ambience of the place is good, very chic and classy. The service is good, the waiter is attentive enough but not overwhelming. Overall, it is a pretty good experience.

John Priest

We absolutely loved everything! The food is still incredible, as this was our first visit back in five years, and we were so impressed with the quality of the food and the very professional, friendly and efficient service. Our waiters suggestions were spot on. We cannot wait to return next year. Bravo to the Girl and the Goat team for a fabulous restaurant that continues to crank out a high quality experience.

David Barnhouse

Run, don’t walk, to Girl & The Goat. Order this Ramp it Up bread. And the pasta. And cauliflower. And beef shank. And everything. Perfect for a romantic date night, celebration, night out on the town, or all three!

Sonia Menezes

Food stood up to the hype and service was quick and efficient. Every bite was a pleasure. Cocktails sparkled with creativity and dessert surprised with a blend of texture and flavour. Great ambiance with a huge diversity of people from Chicago and around.

Samuel Waggoner

We came here because it was recommended by our B&B. We had late reservations and had the most wonderful dining experience! We took all of the recommendations from our waiter and were incredibly pleased; but honestly, I think anything you order would be amazing. The atmosphere is romantic but busy. The open kitchen provided for great entertainment and the close seating to other patrons created camaraderie amongst guests. The diversity of the staff, the female chef, and the opportunity to order green beans (where some of the profits go to charity) make the dining experience feel even better. Truly, Girl & The Goat deserves 7 stars.

Kyle Hennies

Food- Shareable plates that are all very reasonably priced. We got the Shishito Peppers, Goat Empanadas, and the Goat Special, which for the day was Goat Skewers with pita. They were all fantastic. Service- We were first seated outside. When it started sprinkling out, they were very quick to move us to a table inside. The servers we had were all very friendly. Overall we had a great time :)

Juan Munoz

First time at Girl and the Goat was a great experience! All the food was delicious, especially the pork shank. The staff was really attentive and made the meal enjoyable. Cocktails were also fantastic. As your expect, plan and book your reservation well ahead of time. We planned a month out.

DAVID B

Highly recommend, a unique menu, but all the items we chose were amazing. The pig face was incredible. The server was five star.

Theresa Marko

This is the kind of restaurant where you have to be willing to try things that you might never eat. We came at 6:00 p.m. and it was packed. You definitely want to try to get a reservation at least one month in advance. Our server was excellent and on point to guide us towards which dishes my friend with a severe gluten allergy could not eat. The dishes were all very good and fun. The atmosphere inside is chic and dark.

Nancy King

Let me get this off my chest. The staff is well versed and helpful but it is like the proverbial bum's rush to turn over the table. It starts slow one dish at a time and then the deluge. Just too fast. we got our desert menu before we finished our mains and the bill before we asked for it. shame. Nonetheless everything and I mean everything is a taste sensation. a bog wow to the kitchen.

Alex Terme Turmo

Excellent food and amazing service. We were seated at the bar in front of all the chefs, highly recommend!

Melanie Ross

Is this what people consider fun?? Spending over $100 to still leave the restaurant hungry? Portions are ridiculous small and way overpriced. I don’t understand the hype at all. Service is so slow and our waitress stopped by three times. Once to greet us, once to take our order, and finally to drop the check. There are so many wonderful places to eat nearby where you can actually leave full and satisfied. After deciding we’d go somewhere else for my birthday dessert, someone brought out a little ice cream scoop with a candle. Thought that was sweet until the waitress brought the check and charged us for a dessert that I did not ask for. Unbelievable. The only positive thing about this entire experience was our seating. We were semi secluded from the loud noise of the restaurant at a table facing the kitchen. It was cool to watch the cooks prepare their tiny portion plates.

Pawel Makuch

This place is pretty difficult to book, but absolutely phenomenal. Items on the menu sound interesting, but taste even better. Food is served family style with dishes coming out one at a time. Everything we ate tasted like nothing I've ever eaten before in the best way possible. I love this restaurant.

Jerry Campos Almaguer

Great service. Our waiter was very attentive to our need and helped us navigate the menú. Food and drinks were well balanced in flavors we finished everything . I Will definitely visit again

Brian Ferdman

This is a much fabled restaurant for a good reason. The chef spins very creative takes on a wide array of tasty dishes, many of which can be ordered as half-portions, enabling you to taste more of the menu. This is a brilliant idea that I wish more restaurants would copy. Cocktails are also quite creative, and there's a very relaxed, jovial vibe in the dining room.

adam dowd

Amazing food. Great cocktails. The best deserts. Wonderful service. 10/10 would recommend.

Ryan Hietpas

A Chicago staple by now. I've never had a bad experience. Food and drinks are good and prices are reasonable.

Veronica Graham

Wonderfully original and really good!! I love goat so all the goat plates seemed interesting to me. Had fabulous service and it was different from a run of the mill dinner. I will go back next time I am in Chicago!! This restaurant presents creative cuisine in a great setting. The service was exceptional. Taylor could not have been more helpful as we made our selections to share - and decisions regarding wine and pacing. Overall - one of most memorable meals in Chicago.

Thibault Zanini

Wow! Best food I have ever eaten in the US.

Elaine Fletcher-Janzen

Ate at the Girl and the Goat last night and had the usual fantastic food experience. However, I wont be back because its so noisy. I cannot believe that a crafted restaurant like this has not employed a sound designer to enhance the experience. Decibels ranged from 82 to 91 throughout dinner--this is the same as a mack truck running right by you and not good for your health. Sound designers know that people eat faster if they are in a noisy environment--perhaps this is goal of the restaurant? Again, am a local, just love the food--but I don't want to shout at the waitperson (who also cant hear customers) and it would be so nice to be able to talk to my dinner companions! Sorry G & G.

Terry Cox

Yes yes yes! We were up against a warm Friday evening rush but still managed to score two seats at the bar. Our guy was so confident in the menu explaining things on a way that was easy to consume as first-timers. We tried the green beans, peppers, scallops, pork belly, and empanadas. By far the scallops were my favorite but everything else was a close second. The rose on tap was refreshing. Can't wait till next time.

Alice Sun

Staff is great, helpful when needed and good recommendation for portion (tapas style) All meat are great...after this visit I will look at lamb skewer, and short ribs ( to die for!!!) ..... I can eat these any days in the week!!! No pics to show since that's how fast the food was being devoured by the group. Will definitely come back!!

Marc Bernard

Trying to seat us at the counter with a view of the kitchen and microwave was a bit blunder. We got a regular table after complaining. Food and ambiance are great. Hip place. Recommended

Sean O'Malley

Such amazing combinations. Everything was filling, full of wonderfully developed flavor, and each piece was great on it's own, but together they were fantastic.

Matt Watier

As close to perfect meal as you could ask for. Izard has a truly unique voice when it comes to food. The environment is efficient and organized and our waitress was charming, articulate, and funny. This combination make a remarkable meal that I can easily recommend.

William Suppogu

Really loves the food and wine selection. Very flavorful small plates. Our waitress was awesome helping a group of 12. My favorites were the Salmon, Oysters, pork belly and the duck tongues. When it comes to small plates I’m a big fan of Cafe Baba Reeba.

David Peterson

Cool atmosphere, funky menu, all shareables. All the food we ordered was great, really enjoyed it.

Maribeth Westlund

Deliciousness! We were seated at the kitchen tables! What a treat to interact with the team on the line. Great experience!

Anthony Azar

Amazing. The food here is on point. Well put together, flavourful, with a high attention to detail. Lovely cocktail list, extensive wine selection. The room is beautiful and the staff very friendly. If you are looking for a great restaurant look no further.

Ivan Tan

Walked in without a reservation at 4.30pm during opening to try our luck - got ourselves seats at the bar counter! Our 3 Favorites: 1. Squash Blossom Crab Rangoon - light tempura batter that gave it that lovely soft crunch on the outside that balanced the creamy interior and sweetness of the crab. 2. Duck Tongue - could eat this for days! Enjoyed the play of textures between the duck tongue, tuna poke, and crispy wonton skins. The black beans reminded me of Chinese/Korean black soybean paste 3. Caramel Corn and Malt Balls - I love all malted desserts and this was absolutely fabulous with the sweet and salty combination! One core ingredient not mentioned in the menu but deserves a mention is the chewy malted squares that tasted so good with the ice cream and popcorn. Another inspired play on textures. We also had the Pig Face and Goat Belly which were also good. Both had flavor profiles that were big and bold and hit you straight in the face. The only reason why I’m knocking off a star is purely a personal preference and observation: the finish on both dishes were much shorter on the palate than we had expected, given the ingredients on the plate. We also observed an interesting use of raw pea shoot stems in a couple of dishes that provided good crunch but also had that lingering grassy profile that might overpower more delicate dishes.

Well cooked food , fast service but the portions were extremely small. In addition i found the food underseasoned. My general impression is that the place is over-rated for what they offer

Carlos Lopez

Everything, just everything was spot on: creative, complex yet pretty fast and uber delicious. just go, if you can get a table reservation.

Heather Budde

Showed up right at 4:30 and was able to snag a couple spots at the bar without a reservation. Service at the bar was like having 5 personal waiters instead of just one ... my cup was never close to half empty and they anticipated every dish that was about to come out. Food was excellent...every dish had its own unique flavor. Try the blueberry sourdough, green beans, squash blossoms, goat empanadas, short ribs and don’t skip dessert - we got the one with caramel corn. Honestly I think you could get anything on the menu and you would be pleased. Delicious food and exceptional service!

Frances Alvarez

We waited for 2 hours to eat here. And it was so worth the wait! Each dish was delicious. We ordered out of our comfort zone and let the waitress make the suggestions and she was spot on. From the green beans to the goat belly. I’m still dreaming about this meal! Definitely recommend

Joann Arpino

This place was a must! We sat at the bar and the bartender gave us some phenomenal food and drink recommendations. The braised short ribs were literally the best I have ever had! They were crispy on the outside but so soft on the inside and paired very well with a salted caramel sauce. The halibut was also delicious! It was cooked perfect and had a blueberry accompaniment which went very well. The salad was also amazing. We will defiantly be back!

Ashley Lindsey

Fantastic meal! We were coming in from out of town and made our reservation about 2 months out. It was already packed but we slipped in with a 4:45pm time slot. So plan ahead! It's all small, shareable plates which is perfect because you'll want to try everything. Our waitress was really helpful when we couldn't decide between items. Each plate seemed better than the one before somehow! But the pork shank was amazing. Best pork we've ever had. The goat empanadas were my second favorite. We'll definitely be back!!!

DMarie Bika

Go there! And have the goat empanadas. Delicious family-style small plates of goodness. Fab service. Hopping atmosphere. Great pacing during the meal. We also had the roasted pig face, braised pork shank and chickpea fritters (all pictured.) So good - every single bite.

Marcus Smoot

Loved it!! The most unique flavorful food. Seriously a special experience...we’ll savor it until the next time we come out to Chi town! Thanks y’all!

Truman Gerholdt

Amazing! Go here for a date night if you’re in town. Call for a reservation. Very very delicious. The pork shank was amazing. Get the sweat peas because they are also great. The service was nice and everyone was pleasant. Outdoor seating was great. Will go again for sure!

Elaine Benson

Food stood up to the hype and service was quick and efficient. Every bite was a pleasure. Cocktails sparkled with creativity and dessert surprised with a blend of texture and flavour. Great ambiance with a huge diversity of people from Chicago and around.

Sidney Gui

After 11 visits, still my favorite restaurant anywhere. The green beans alone are amazing, and the squash blossom crab rangoons are heavenly when in season. The original octopus dish isn't on the menu anymore, but if it comes back that is fantastic. The pork shank is a winner too. Really, everything is good here. The only dish I haven't enjoyed was the pig face, but others swear by it.the craft cocktails are strong and innovative flavors and dessert is always unique and fin. combos.

Reino Ecklord

Fantastic restaurant. Best for big groups or big appetites as you’ll want to try multiple dishes. Staff is super efficient. Book as far in advance as possible but consider popping in for seats at the bar or to grab no-show tables.

Charles Austin

Small plates packed with flavor. One of my favorite restaurants in the United States. Just excellent on all counts.

Audrey Pounder

One of the most amazing places to eat ever! So many flavors and such great food! Stop by this amazing restaurant while in Chicago, but call several weeks in advance for reservations. It's worth it! The chef was a Top Chef winner and is now on Iron Chef. My my money is on her for the win!!!

Nick McCoy

Great atmosphere and creative food options! We reserved a table a month in advance due to the popularity. Expect food you typically wouldn't order but try anything and everything you can! You won't be disappointed to make this a meal options while in Chicago.

Nicole Tillery

An amazing meal. Every plate was flavorful and unforgettable. Jason at the bar took care of us and made sure we had a great experience. The tarragone in 60 seconds was a fun drink. Can't recommend this place enough!

Michael Franko

Unique menu. Everything I had was perfectly prepared and delicious. Portions weren't bad but slightly small for a big appetite. Just plan to order one extra item or desert if you want to be full. Busy but comfortable. Walk in seating available at the bar. Service at the bar was excellent.

W Mayo

I like this restaurant! They give splendid food, they have a rich menu, The cook in that place is very trained, I like a lot tasting all their food. The dishes are consistently of high qualtity, the service towards the clients is helpful. I visit often this restaurant and I not even once was discontended. I recommend this place.

Andrew Mellor

Damn fine food, awesome service. Staff were five stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Salman Ahmad

The food is good, but it's super expensive. I spent over $100 and walked out hungry. I'm not the guy that pays for the "experience" of sitting at a restaurant just to be bourgeois. If you're into that kind of thing then go for it. I won't be going back. Rather go to a nice steakhouse for that kind of money.

Matt Arambul

Make a reservation on OpenTable and request to be seated with Devin. She's amazing. She knows the menu, she cares about your experience, and she loves her job! The entire food experience was amazing! (Unfortunately, the hostess staff were not as excited about their job)

Wright Nunn

By pure luck of the draw my husband and I were placed at the chef's table in the back, which absolutely enhanced the experience for us. The place is extremely noisy, but that table felt cut off from the crowds. Not only that, you have front row views to the team of chefs working tirelessly in peak hours. You can see beautiful dishes being assembled and also chat with the chefs when they're nearby. It was so fun to have this "behind-the-scenes" experience without even knowing this was an option!

EM M

I can't explain how great this place is. Amazing food, amazing service, and a really great ambience. Make a reservation now.

Amanda Root

walked in solo just before 5pm on a Sunday. restaurant was already fairly full, but the bar only about half full. I sat on the end near the pickup spot for drinks which was fun to interact with different servers and hear them talk shop. All of the staff was attentive, kind, knowledgeable and seemed genuinely happy to work there. The bartender waiting on me was so awesome I wish I remembered his name! A lot of the items looked good and he informed me that for solo diners, the kitchen can make half “mini” portions. Sweet! The bartender recommends ordering everything with him at once and then he’ll pace the meal out himself. He did a great job! No two dishes overlapped and yet I never waited more than 10 minutes for the next once to show up. I ordered the chickpea fritters, broccoli, scallop, and crab rangoon squash blossoms. Yummmmmm. Highly recommend the fritters, broccoli and scallop. The squash blossoms were really good, but my least favorite as they ate a little salty and one note for me. I was convinced into dessert, after all it was only a “mini” portion, lol! Way good. Like it should be a Ben and Jerry’s flavor good! Super great wine selections, unique cocktail list and a beautiful restaurant with happy employees. Stephanie Izard is doing something right with Girl & The Goat.

John Lee

This place knocks it out of the park every time. A Chicago staple which is constantly booked out for over 8 years. The menu is consistently brilliant. The goat confit with brown butter and lobster is one of my favourite dishes in Chicago. And it doesn’t break the bank either. Highly recommend you book in advance or walk into the bar. Please follow my foodie adventures @doctoreeat

bob finkelstein

Food was good and inventive but not as good as I was expecting given the reputation, and the steep prices.

Kent Yung

The food is delicious, the customer service was fantastic, the AC was a little strong, so bring a hoodie just in case, otherwise you are in for a great time. We ordered green, beens, cauliflower, pig face, crab, scallops, pork shank, bread, and Lamb. A table full of food, bill was less than 2 bills, I would like to say the price was fair. Highly recommend.

Ken Shelton

One of my favorites in Chicago. Always great and always reliable!! Should be on any culinary list a visitor, traveler, or resident makes.

Dora Byxbe

Some of the best food I've had in 46 years. The short ribs are to die for. Service was exemplary.

Genesis Chong

Recommended by a few friends. Everything was amazing. Would make a reservation or come here before they open.

Cat Herine

My favorite restaurant in the world! Hahah. Have been to over 50 countries and dined in many restaurants but this one has my heart! Every time when I am in town I will have to come here! The cauliflower, string beans, pork cheek! When SWest has the ticket sale Lax to midway $49. I grab one for a treat!

Josh Furstoss

It was good but I felt like the hype had me expecting more You choose many little plates and share them between the table Portions are small on purpose and it’s a cool tasting experience and it was good but If you’re looking for this kind of experience I can say that In Chicago there are a few that do this Better for a better price

Isabel Blessing

This was the best dining experience I have ever had. The food, service, and ambiance was all amazing. We had the roasted pig face, cauliflower, chickpea fritters, sourdough bread, and miso sponge cake and it was all about 100 dollars so not bad at all. Do yourself a favor and go to this restaurant.

Michael Alexander

I had a beautiful time here. they gave us a complimentary dessert to celebrate a special day with us. it was appreciated

Dominic Grassi Grassi

Great ambience. Great and attentive wait staff. Most importantly, great food. Some simple like the warm olives. Vegetables beyond belief. The cauliflower and the green beans raised to new heights and the Halibut along with the crisp braised pork shank were both unique and accessible in their amazing taste. All served in the center of the table for us to share. Save room for dessert. A special destination worth its deserved reputation.

RNN

Bib Gourmand. (Still not a star) “Foodies” should stick to this establishment. It makes it easier for real people to know whether or not to respect you. P.S. More than a dozen employees of Little Goat have reported the rat problem. Enjoy your Brunch.

Emily Blumhardt

Awesome place to try tons of new things! Best for a small group or bring a friend so you can try more dishes. So fun! Great service too.

Nitin Subramanian

Cauliflower and the mint semifreddo were two of the best bites I've ever taken in my life. Highly recommend. Super friendly for vegetarians too.

Chris Tso

Great atmosphere. Goat dishes were delicious. Craft cocktails complimented the food nicely.

Chyrisse Stewart

OMG! The best goat shoulder! Tenderly prepared perfectly season goat meat. I've ate goat meat at several restaurants and no one does it better than Girl & The Goat! Perfect Friday night for me & my 3 friends.

Johan Hagstrom

We only ate a late lunch at the bar, but service here from Hannah (I think...) was exceptional! The place was really funky and lively with a wide open kitchen. The food was well prepared and yummy, and they even offered a separate vegan menu which was a pleasant surprise since I'm vegan. I'm not sure they state that information on their website, but would I have known, I would have made dinner reservations here (hint hint, If you're reading this Girl & The Goat :)) I'll be back next time I visit Chicago!

Addison Pack

Ordered: Roasted Cauliflower Sauteed Green Beans Soft Shell Crab Cake Wood Oven Roasted Pig Face Crisp Braised Pork Shank Confit Goat Belly Pan Roasted Halibut Caramel Corn & Malt Balls Our favorites were the crab cake and the pork shank. Order more naan for the pork shank. it's not enough and the meat is so fatty, it's not good to eat it by itself. Overall it was a good meal but not earth shattering good.

Jonathan Carter

We had a great time at the restaurant..!! The waitress was nice and helpful with mene choices. The service was incredible, and the food was excellent. For starters, we've tried the oven-roasted cauliflower, wood-grilled broccoli and kohlrabi salad, in addition l...we tried the empanadas and the ora king salmon poke... Okay, than...we tried the short ribs and goat neck..!! For dessert, we had the yay for Apples and the lemon sherbet. Everything was perfect!! Promise to come back!!

Andrea Jimenez

Normally I would have posted a pic but food looked so good I couldn't stop. Service is typically above par. This place has a cool design. I see why this place has so many great reviews.

J CL

The absolute best meal during our stay in Chicago, and one of the best of my life. We had no reservations (on a Saturday night no less) but we somehow managed to squeeze into the lounge seating before the big dinner rush. I would have eaten on the floor if I had to. Beautiful small dishes, wonderfully balanced flavors, and interesting combinations. We got two of the goat dishes and the meat was so soft and flavorful. Cocktails also on point. Definitely coming back here next time we're in Chicago.

Emily Hernandez

The scallops here are amazing. The food is expensive so be prepared to spend a lot. I recommend the sourdough bread as well but not the cooked olives, they're too salty. The waiters are very nice and helpful if you are unfamiliar with the menu. It is in a great location and is very cozy inside. Highly recommend and be sure to dress nice!

Cayla Priest

I can’t say enough good things about this experience! Go here & go here quickly. We had an amazing server who was so great at pacing our dishes and offering more cocktails. Every runner who brought dishes out was really personable and knew the food well. Everything was SO GOOD, from the bread to the mains to dessert. We were lucky enough to get in without a reservation but I know this is rare! Like I said - just go!

Jason Georgacakis

Worth the wait. We gave been trying to go here for awhile. It seemed like we would never be able to get a reservation. Finally we had a free Tuesday and we were able to make it happen. The menu is small plates, so try a bunch. Out of all of them, the pig face was undoubtedly the best. But none if them were less than awesome.

Reggie Karikottu

We made reservations here months before our trip....and lemme tell you it was maaaarrrvvelous!!! Excellent food and service!! Only downside: dessert menu didn’t look too promising. Great staff and ambiance!!

andrew guyant

Amazing experience and great service. Love the family style sharing experience. Did was served quickly and it was all delicious.

James O'Brien

Excellent, but a little pricey. Order 4 to 5 plates per 2 people. Their vegetarian selections are incredible, but the goat is good too (obviously). The dark atmosphere is great for dates or getting away from the Summer sun. In particular, the brocolli was amazing, and I'm always pleased with the goat empanadas. A definite high end treat! Tip: make a reservation in advance or plan on getting there when they open.

dyanne baro

amazing food. get the duck tongue. very small portions. a la carte. ribs also very good, great wine. left a little hungry
