This Coffee Shop is included in the category of American restaurant.
This is a really interesting place to eat. First off the restaurant is a little hidden, the logo is a "B" but there is a separation in the stem and the curve of the "B" that makes it look like a "13", so B looking for the 13. You get inside and it is much more dim than the main pictures would lead you to believe. The menu is small. There is not a ton to choose from, but there is something for everyone. The staff is super friendly and attentive. All of the food came out at the same time and everyone enjoyed their meal. This restaurant is BYOB. The staff will gladly open any bottle for you. I don't even think we paid a corkage fee. I didn't look that closely at the bill. Four people ate for $100. We had an appetizer and 2 desserts. This is a nice little casual place to grab dinner without paying too much. I'll eat here again, but it won't be a place that I MUST return to immediately.
Cute spot for pretty good food. Love that they are BYOB and not cash only. However, service is spotty. They never seem to acknowledge when you enter the restaurant, and they're very lackluster while serving. They have excellent salad, but my most recent order of $19 steak frites with "house cut potatoes" was steak with soggy, over-salted french fries. Head on over to Rootstock instead if you're in the mood for an excellent $19 steak.
Great food! Omelet with asparagus and black truffle tastes like heaven and the falafel is amazing! Plus, nice staff.
I don't normally get burgers but I came here for lunch and got the burger. The bun was great, the patty was juicy, and the sauce was tasty. The fries were pretty phenomenal.but has enough variety so that there is something for everyone. My food and overall visit was excellent.
Cute nook right in my neighborhood. Their homemade bread specials are so good!!
Always delicious.
Just good food. Great coffee. Unpretentious.
I've been going to Bite for years love their brunch and they always have great new food specials!
New chef, new management and they managed to ruin a neighborhood gem. We’ve gone several times a month for the past 8 years and have tried the new bite twice. Pricier and much less delicious. The kitchen backs up easily now- be prepared for a 50 minute wait for your food. Asked about our food after 45 min seated at the table with no water and the waiter rolled her eyes and said, “I mean...it’s busy right now” What happened to the bite we knew and loved??
Always a pleasure to go to bite cafe. The staff is delightful.
Delicious food, was pleasantly surprisex by small menu! Everything we ordered was great!
Besides getting the stink-eye from staff when walking through the door from the neighboring music venue, this place was a nice stop for a quick dinner and drink inbetween bands.
The mushroom pasta is one of my favorite vegetarian dishes EVER.
Food was decent, service is slow
Great, clean, delicious food & great service.
Bite is great for meals and late snacks befire, after or during Bottle shows as well as on it's own. Daily specials are often the best choices.
Wonderful food, instant service, and the people are of a high standard for etiquette
Now I rarely come to the Ukrainian village, but I did want to check out the Do Division fest. K recommended Bite and so we went over. The place is smaller than the pics they have up, but its very cute and lively inside. They seat you once your whole party gets there and cos of lack of space, you usually have to eat at the bar or stand outside. They have a number of smaller tables, so really big groups would be hard to accommodate. One of our friends showed up unexpectedly and we squeezed her in on our 2 person table, to be informed that we were making the other guests uncomfortable. Not really cool- the waitress didn't offer us another table or anything. On to the food- now this is the reason to come here. We tried the bi bim bap, the biscuits and spinach, the asparagus omelette and the strawberry bread. I LOVED the first dish, the bulgar was so well made and flavorful, will definitely get this and the strawberry bread again. The omelette and spinach biscuits was ok- well made but ok. The omelette comes with a hash brown patty which is a true melody of textures- I hope to get it on the side without the omelette. I will come back to try the other dishes for sure.
Bite Cafe, update your hours to reflect 4-5pm “changeover” on Saturdays and I will delete this 1 star review.
Pork hash was fantastic! Menu says "spicy hollandaise" but its not spicy at all (good for non-spicy people, but not good for those that want a little oomph! It was very tasty regardless), pork was awesome, potato's gave a little crunch as if undercooked, but it was just fine! Also their strawberry shake was amazing!
Solid burger.
During my five day stay in Chicago I ate at Bite 3 times and each time was a good experience. I tried their breakfast sandwich, veggie hash and veggie burger and it all was very hearty, comforting and delicious food.
Terrific BYOB restaurant. Great ambiance with hard woods and eclectic furniture. My medium burger was delicious and cooked to perfection. Great location and kind service and staff.
I feel like I come here once a weekend. Bite is great; I love the grilled cheese, the cheeseburger, the tomato soup, the bacon... my girlfriend OBSESSES over the biscuits, I tell ya. Always the best service, great prices, charming atmosphere, great menu, cool people... everything about this place is so cool, and I'm so happy it's just a couple blocks from my place. I haven't tried their special pizza nights and whatever else but I really want to. Breakfast or dinner- this place is wonderful.
After ordering we waited an hour to get our food. When the food finally came it was luke warm and bland. I will not recommend this place to my friends.
I love this place. The space is small intimate and cute. The service is attentive and nice. They have a pretty open kitchen in the back so you can see the food and people preparing it. Nice solid small menu, all all stars and have a changing specials selection every day
This is the best late night spot. I always trust the daily special, the chef is a amazing! The music next door is always exciting. And most of all it's BYOB. Great for a chill quiet date night or a fun reunion with friends.
I wash dishes here so I mostly eat stuff when they get somebody's order wrong. It's all fantastic. Im eating somebody's wrong sandwich and I'm like "Who would refuse this just because it has mustard?" People don't appreciate things anymore.
What a brilliantly designed menu, what a perfect chef and sublime staff. What greatness! I am very glad they continue to be a part of our neighborhood.
We love coming to this BYOB for early dinner with our toddler. The menu updates often and there are regular daily specials. The steak special is probably the best entree I've had there but i enjoy everything I've ordered. It is also conveniently attached to the Empty Bottle if you like live music.
Great BYOB spot. Also has a lot of delicious veggie options.
My favorite little place on the west end of Ukrainian Village. I've been going here for years. Creative food but unpretentious. The menu has an American foundation with lots of thoughtful, delicious influences from around the world. Great atmosphere, great desert, great coffee, very reasonable prices. BYOB as of this posting.
Really great lunch, cozy/cool feel, quick service. Wish I could have had a beer though (it's BYOB... Which can be a big plus, though don't know if they charge corkage fees)
Awesome Cafe. Awesome staff. Awesome Food! We go out of our way sometimes after morning ice hockey cuz this is a GEM and we love looking a beautiful woman and drink jet fuel coffee. Did I mention breakfast? Awesome of course... you guys rock!!!
Very reasonably priced yet delicious food!
Nice waitstaff & good food!
Order came not as it ordered. But they gave 25%off
Cute little restaurant that has tons of vegan options. Service was great and pricing was very reasonable. Plus, they are BYOB! This is their Vegan Delight dish with added tofu.
A true gem of the neighborhood, truly their desserts, your party will be very pleasantly surprised. Will go back many times.
This place is special. We’ve been coming here for 10 years. It’s better than most places with a similar vibe, much better. I try to branch out and try ALL the restaurants in West Town. I keep coming back to Bite and wondering why I even bother going elsewhere. It’s better and surprisingly cheaper. My wife and I just had a 5 course meal, elote burrata, carrots, super salad, mussels, lamb ragu on housemate noodles, and the best cookie sandwich you’ve ever had. It was perfectly executed, perfectly coursed, and it was $80. Less than $100 for a five course meal is amazing. AND, you don’t have to go fancy- the burger and breakfast options are also fantastic.
Pork Belly Bennie's for the win!
The food has impressed me. The prices are reasonable. Parking can be a challenge but usually pans out.
I found Bite Cafe on Google Maps when looking for a good place for brunch and was not disappointed. They served the best tofu scramble I have ever had in my life, and the coconut bread was just the right amount of sweet.
Best affordable BYOB spot in the area. I don't think I've had anything here I haven't liked. Really wish they brought back the mushroom cavatelli. Very happy they made the mussels a permanent menu item. I love trying their specials. Their fish fry and friend chicken nights are great. I come here regularly and I'm always excited to go back. Try it, trust me...
This little cafe is cozy, inviting, and the service is prompt and friendly. The menu is small enough to not overwhelm, but has enough variety so that there is something for everyone. My food and overall visit was excellent.
Amazing food! Can’t wait to go back.
Very mellow and chill environment, and i believe they put up local art, not sure how often they change it out. But the atmosphere is great. And the food.... the food is amazing. 5 star quality food and the prices are fair. The proportions range from just enough to a little more than i can handle. I have had almost everything from their menu and you can't go wrong with any of it.
Intimate space and atmosphere. The griddle burger was solid. Would go back to check out their brunch offerings.
Must stop for Bite Cafe and meat eaters alike. We had the fried okra and buffalo cauliflower and they were both amazing. Almost made us too full to finish our entrees. I also had the tuna wrap with fries. The wait can be abaout 20 minutes but it's worth it.
Great food and affordable prices and it is BYOB so you can’t beat that!
awesome brunch place! it’s byob but I️ highly recommend grabbing a bloody mary from the empty bottle next door
Great food and service. They have a good diversity of food that works great for dietary restrictions.
This place had a really good breakfast and it's a BYOB! Can't go wrong with this place for a weekend bite to eat!
Great food, great service great place!
Creative menu.
Food was ok but took over 40 minutes to get there after ordering. It was a busy Sunday so I guess that should be considered too.
Probably the worst place I've been to in the city. Insincere to be more specific.
Very nice place! Staff was excellent!! Food was delicious!!! Get there early because they will run out of some desserts!!!!
My fav spot. Best grilled chz and tomato soup ever. Everything is really good.
Have never eaten a bad meal here. The menu is constantly changing and they always have a great variety of tasty vegetarian options. One of my fave date night spots, plus it's BYOB!
Great burgers and fries!
Cozy BYOB attached to Empty Bottle. Amazing brunch. Try anything that includes the house hollandaise.
I don't know what is better, the strawberry jam or the veggie scramble. Bite is one of my go to brunch spots. I recommend it to just about everyone looking for somewhere to have a bite in the neighborhood ;) Great customer service!
lovely
Amazing food and a great playlist
Love the vibe, great eats
I've read some not-so-good reviews of this place and don't understand why. The food I e had there has always been good and it's conveniently located next to my favorite venue. On those busy nights, it affords you the time to grab a bite to eat before the show. Another big plus - you can always find free parking close by.
Excellent place to grab a quick meal or an appetizer before an Empty Bottle show. Plus plenty of vegetarian options and BYOB, it's a great spot!
OMG. My most favorite eggs Benedict ever. Everything else for brunch was hm. Blueberry cake was outta this world. Biscuit and jam is good but not worth $4. Husband had the hash. It has potential but failed on the end result.
Nice place, the food was very good. The staff was very attentive, no complaints at all!
Had the breakfast tacos and the eggs Benedict, it was amazing!
Delicious and interesting food, friendly and attentive service, and a fun and eccentric atmosphere. A true neighborhood gem! The specials are great and the coffee is a dark matter special blend.
The steak was a bit overdone. Otherwise, the food was delicious, the service was great, the food came quickly, and it's BYOB!
Friendly staff, the best fries I've ever had and delicious sandwiches. BYOB.
Good food with reasonable prices. Great place to enjoy a leisurely meal with friends. Service can be slow but the ambiance and food are worth it.
Such a good brunch! The place is small so better go early in a Sunday. Very cozy with good music and great service.
I used to live in the neighborhood and would go here all the time. The food is great, contemporary American. The service is friendly and they are open late. It does getting pretty busy during brunch on the weekends, but you can usually get in under 20 minutes.
American breakfast and brunch staples made with care in a cozy, welcoming environment.
Great food and amazing hospitality, feels like being at home very warm and welcomiing; not to mention the prices are wonderful as well as the proportions.
Once a month classic grilled cheese & tomato soup. I always order an extra soup, I libe less than 4 blocks away and still get great delivery
Cool atmosphere, fine food. There are a lot of vegetarian and some vegan options but the server's brain almost exploded when I asked to sub out my toast.
Very happy with this place. I don't normally get burgers but I came here for lunch and got the burger. The bun was great, the patty was juicy, and the sauce was tasty. The fries were pretty phenomenal. They were crispy and salty. Everything was hot and fresh and our waitress was attentive.
Best breakfast place in Chicago! Jointed together with the Empty Bottle. They are a cafe with BYOB and a wonderful little atmosphere. They are vegan and vegetarian friendly and have a friendly staff. I would reccomend trying the tofu tacos.
The best breakfast tacos in the city. Perfect price point, good coffee, fun tunes, awesome, funny staff. Wish they opened earlier than 9 am for us working-folk but there's no change I'm giving them less than 5 stars. Just writing about it makes me hungry.
Great food and experience
Probably my favorite restaurant in all of Chicago
Great food
Low-key atmosphere and a simple menu offering a variety of delicious breakfast and lunch treats. Great service and less of the pretentious air you may find at similar brunch spots. Connected to the Empty Bottle bar.
Get the breakfast tacos with a side of carrots. And definitely try their violet extract drink - so yummy.
Great local restaurant with casual dinner to more sophisticated fair. Very kid friendly.
Good service, but only so-so food for me. I had biscuits (dry) and gravy (gloopy), but it was just okay. Hubs had some pork dish that he loved, hence the 4 stars. Also, they serve Dark Matter... my fave.
Food was great, friendly staff
Cozy little place. Food is very good, menu selection is a bit limited, but pretty eclectic. Have a serious look at the daily specials board.
Nice little place. Food wasn't bad, in would go again
So. Good. Cool vibes too.
This place is spectacular. The food is delicious, the staff is really, really friendly and even the coffee is great - which is hard for me to admit because I'm addicted to Metropolis coffee and they don't serve it here. Never been here for dinner, but the brunch is wonderful. The only thing about Bite that I question is how attracted to a particular female server my girlfriend seems to be; I think she might leave me for her if we keep coming here. Oh, and I highly recommend the French Toast.
Cheeseburger with fries, kale salad with grilled chicken
I had a great meal here. It started with the mussels which were very delicious. The only complaint about them is that a good number of the mussels didn't open. Next I had the daily special of pork tacos. They were very good. The pork had some crispy parts so it had great textures all the way through. I also had the beet salad. I really enjoy it a lot. Beets are something I used to hate but have been eating them more and more. Everything was very balanced in terms of flavor and textures for each dish. Would return again to try more of the menu.
Great food and ambiance!!! Would highly suggest. Had a delightful herbed goat cheese Danish and then a chorizo omelette.
I can only speak for how the French toast tasted because that’s all I had. The French toast was absolutely delicious I totally recommend it. I can’t say for the rest of the food, but I went with some friends and they had different food and they said it was good. I think you can safely assume that whatever you get will be at least decent to absolutely delicious. I recommend this place.
We drive 20 min to have brunch at this place. Well thought out menu and excellent execution. Beats the corner brunch spot every time
This place is great! Go there for the Breakfast Poutine. Trust me, I lived in Montreal for 7 years. Bite Cafe's poutine is the real deal.
Great plate for having breakfast; good atmosphere, good food, excellent service.
I’ve been coming here since they opened a lifetime ago — 20+ years and still at the top of my go to spots for lunch in the Big Onion.
Burger good , thx
Went for the first time for a breakfast meeting at work. Other than being hard to find the meal and service were very good. Would go back.
Nasty bathroom, good food, cute atmosphere, great server
Great food and drinks. Can get loud. Overflows into the Empty Bottle. If you're in a rush you can eat at the bar at the Empty Bottle, which is really nice.
I want to like Bite. I want to support the neighborhood places, especially ones with plentiful vegetarian options but I'm giving up on this one. I've been a dozen or so times and while there is usually something good to say about the food; one of the appetizers would be great or a side dish was surprisingly tasty, in general, I think the food is disappointing. Breakfast is definitely better than lunch or dinner so if you are going to go, the early menu is your best bet but even then you may leave with the sense that you generally weren't satisfied.
Love this place. The menu changes a lot. It's affordable. The best salad is fantastic. And it's BYOB.
Flipping delicious comfort food. Feels like home.
I hate having to leave a negative review because I actually enjoy their food, but the service is horrible. The last few times we’ve been here we were seated right away but waited for 30 minutes just to place our order then another 30-45 minutes to get our food and then they still manage to get the order wrong. The worst part is that this wasn’t during a rush or busy period. After the last time, we won’t be going back.
Great breakfast spot! Good menu or breakfast items and a good rotating specials board.
Ever changing menu
Excellent food and service. Very unique menu. Eggs Benedict were amazing. It's a small cramped space, but made for a nice breakfast experience. Wish I could have tried the breakfast poutine.
My friend and I came here for brunch last summer. This cute little gem is bright and cheerful, exactly what I needed after a long night out. It's byob, but we both weren't in the mood for drinking. We shared the Fried Chicken Sandwich and Lemon French Toast. Portions were hearty and perfect for the two of us. I'll be back to try dinner, with a bottle in hand!
Excellent veggie fare!
Took a long time but worth the wait. Great food.
Very affordable BYOB brunch spot. The breakfast poutine is as MUST, as is the Bggs Benedict.
Fantastic food and vibe
Great, affordable food in casual atmosphere. Reliably a nice date night... BYOB
The food was terrible the waitress was slow and rude . Not a friendly atmosphere service and food was awful. Not a satisfied customer
OMG the Hash Benedict was amazing. Worth the trip of you dont live near by.
My fave for brunch and BYOB.
I really had a terrible experience here and for no other reason than poor customer service. It's that "too cool the care" kind of crowd and it shows. Everything that could go wrong with my order did and the wait staff seemed annoyed that I brought those problems up (like giving me food I didn't order or leaving hair on my plate). The entire meal ended up being comped because of the farce it turned into. It was my first time going and I can't say I'll be back.
Great food. Excellent vegan options. Awesome staff. BYOB, but grab at beer at Empty Bottle.
Everything outstanding right from environment to service to the food. Simpy the best!
Small menu but lots of daily specials and everything was tasty. Mushroom cavatelli was amazing! Solid BYOB spot.
Great food, great service, great environment! Bite Café had a rustic, intimate setting and the food was really creative and delicious! I’m moving into the area and will definitely be coming back again. Lots of delicious vegetarian options as well as quality cuts of meat on the dishes!
Food was great and it's moderately priced for the quality. It's BYOB which is nice, and I'm pretty sure you can bring a beer over from the empty bottle (right next door) too. I would definitely travel to come back here.
The girls were amazing and I don’t know how I have gone this far in life without these sandwiches! The desperado is my fav
They keep their menu simple and your coffee cup full. It's a bright place on a sunny day that is conveniently connected to Empty Bottle.
They had lots of vegetarian options for me! Loved it
Challah French toast with hazelnut butter/syrup was amazing! Subtle flavors without being too sweet. Also had a biscuit side with homemade jam & butter. With another side of 2 eggs the bill was still under $15 and everything was sooo good. The place had a slight hipster vibe with beautiful exposed brick walls and rock music playing overhead, but the staff was friendly and responsive. Great place for brunch.
Excellent place. great food, coffee, and service. The hash was incredible and the environment simple ! Highly recommended
Delicious and healthy and just the right amount
this tasty adorable place has always been one of my faves. the food, service and atmosphere never disappoints. plus it's connected to The Empty Bottle...I mean, c'mon. it's just great.
The menu is American Comfort food.
Eggs poutine were made right. Hearty dish with a nice acidic pop from the pickled peppers. Other dishes looked pretty average from the appearance, but I'd give them a try. Super small and cozy place in a positive way.
Honestly it is just not great. It's ok. The food sounds great and uses fun ingredients but execution is really just average. Pork eggs n potatoes should be an easy win but it comes out kind of bland or whatever. It is not bad by any means and the vibe is chill and the ppl seem nice but there's no strong reason to come back. Other places just do this American diner jazz so much better I feel.
A fun lunch spot with great service and tasty food.
Lovely breakfast
Prob one of our Top 10 restaurants in Chicago. It's BYOB, has tons of vegetarian options, and has amazingly friendly staff. The brunch is top-notch too!
Chicken salad sandwich with fries and grapefruit juice. Nicely done but no standouts. Pleasant service.
delicious hash and new found breakfast tacos!
Food was awesome, i ordered eggs bendict with chicken! highly recommended!
BYOB, I tried three vegetarian dishes here and they all were really good . Service is five stars
One of my favorite places in the city that always has interesting, delicious food! The quality:price ratio here is insane, especially after you consider the money you save by bringing your own wine or beer.
Great food nice place
This place is so cool that they will play some nice music for focusing when they see you have a laptop working on!
Friendly staff, cozy place & delicious food
The description doesn't do it justice. They have an awesome menu and creative delicious specials. I had an omelette with bacon braised collards and cheese. Which was amazing. The hashbrown was a work of art. The strawberry milkshake may be the best I have had in Chicago. It looks like a great place to work too. It might be weird, but IMO happy employees make better food and a better environment. This place is relaxed, fun, and the food is stellar.
I have been here several times for brunch and dinner and they never disappoint. It's a snug little gem with a great music venue attached. They are also BYO which is always a plus! They have specials every night....i would say almost 3 so there's always quite a selection. They are also veggie forward (not all vegetarian) so it's a great place to go if i want something delicious but still healthy.
The food was great, the service was speedy, and the coffee is delicious. Drove by this place, looked up the menu and wanted to give it a try. Glad I did! It was a wonderful experience overall. Highly recommend.
So happy theres finally more than one vegan option this last visit .
Amazing brunch and late night eats, but do not underestimate the BYOB dinner! Their menu lineup changes frequently (and seasonally). Budget friendly and a great place to grab a bite (pun intended) before an Empty Bottle show. Try the mussels and any soup they might be offering- they're always homemade.
Excellent food wonderful fusions excellent service
Good food and great service at reasonable price.
