Nice little place, great atmosphere. They're kind of a mom and pops breakfast Diner. Noticed they closed at 3pm so we got in just in time. Our waitress was great despite us being pushy about our coffee. We complained about it being a tad cold so she brewed us a fresh pot. Coffee was delicious though! They have raw sugar too!

Okay food, but really slow service. It took 45+ minutes to get a tuna melt, during non busy hours (dining room was about 60% full). My chili was also cold when they brought it. The waitress did not offer to comp the chili, she just brought another one (which took another 10-15 minutes). Apparently the milk shakes are great but I left without trying one, because I just wasn't willing to dedicate 90 minutes to average diner food.

Really nice place...as a tourist coming back to the same place must mean something. First day hanna I think it's her name help me with the menu, as I asked for some suggestions and was spot on very friendly staff, and 2nd day Madison was very friendly, good quality food even being such busy place for breakfast they find time to talk to you and when you leave any of the members of the staff make sure they greet you so for the ppl who I dealt with hanna and Madison thank you for the idaho experience

First started visiting Moon's when they occupied their former location on Fairview and I've only ever visited for breakfast. Their food was great, but one thing in particular stood out among everything. Their gluten-free pancakes are AMAZING. Plate sized, perfect texture, moist... I will keep coming back for this reason alone. Nice work guys!

Moon's Kitchen Cafe has been a staple in downtown Boise since I don't know when. They have great old style metal art on their walls which creates a quaint atmosphere. We arrived on a Saturday morning during the farmers market so the place was understandably busy. That didn't prevent the staff from maintaining a cheery and helpful disposition. Even the manager, or possibly the owner, came out to greet patrons and ask about their experience. I ordered the John Wayne breakfast which consists of biscuits and gravy, eggs and bacon. My daughter ordered Moon Babies, pictured. Both dishes were excellent. While I do admit that their prices are rather high, seriously, $2.95 for bottomless soda, it is worth the trip once in a while. For us about once a year.

The food is great but the service is way too slow. They are a seat yourself restaurant which is great if takes are turning over. We got a table within 10 minutes but it took 45 minutes to get our food. When the food came orde was delicious and appealing to the eye but we spent about 75 minutes in a restaurant that we'r should have been out of in 45.

I've been here a few times. The milkshakes really are amazing. The foods just okay. The burger and fries are about as good as any fast food chain. Don't go on a cold day, every time the doors open the entire restaurant freezes. It makes food and coffee get cold really fast.

The bacon was too crispy when I asked for not so crispy. The toast felt like it was dunked in a bowl of butter. It was soggy and greasy. I don t know what happen from last year to this year. The food at Moon's was so delicious but now I don t know if it's the servers not listening or the cooks. The food now seems sloppy and greasy. This is my third time this year leaving disappointed. Probably won t come back again.

Breakfast places have an opportunity. They have the ability to make lovely and wonderful breakfasts at affordable prices all while gaining good profits. But no, they dont do that. They take some of the cheapest ingredients in the world; eggs, potatoes, flour, etc, and they make them into ridiculously expensive dishes through very little work. All I want is a cheap easy SIMPLE breakfast. This place doesn't have that.

First time here. From the first time walking in and sitting down everyone was super friendly! Our server Christine was super nice and welcoming. Food was better than I expected (tough critic on food). I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros. A bit suspect at first when she mentioned it was served with black beans (used to pinto being from Southwest). Over all a wonderful experience . Will be back when revisiting!

Good chicken-fried steak, hash browns, and corned beef hash. Quick, pleasant service. Ok coffee. 2019 update: service is unreliable now. Modifications to orders are routinely forgotten. For example, an omelette ordered without cheese comes covered in cheese. I do about every other coffee refill myself.

my exp. was bad . i sat at the counter downtown and watched four wait staff pass me by. they hung together and talked and used their cell phones and ignored me.this is not the first time this has happened. last time i left and called a manager.obviously this has not made much of a difference. if you have a camera in the store check it out. i am wearing a blue jacket in the middle of the counter. you raise your prices and your service is underwhelming at best. sorry i am a restaurant person and have worked in this business my whole life and i can excuse many things, but not ignoring guests. this was not the first time and i thought after calling i would try again ,but the results where worse.

I used to highly recommend moon's kitchen cafe to anyone visiting the treasure valley, because my husband and i have so many great memories there! After my last 3 visits, however, my family will not be going back. Consistently, the service has been terrible and the food was mediocre... I was very disappointed when, during my last visit, one of the servers was overheard bad mouthing my then-1 yr old to another employee in front of our friends. I will miss the tasty milkshakes, but will not miss the crappy service :-/

I had their moon pie (I think that's what it's called) and a side of eggs. Wow, it was awesome. I've never heard of these things before, but the waitress' description was apt. 1/2 pancake, 1/2 crepe. I had mine with the pears, it was hard not to lick the plate after!!!

Large portions and great breakfast food. A lot of the lunch items are good too but I prefer the breakfast options. Milkshakes are amazing if a little spendy. If you go on a Monday they are BOGO. Only real criticism I have is anything topped with shredded cheese they seem to toss on last minute so it usually isn't melted at all. Mostly a presentation issue at that point.

Had a burger and fries and a milkshake. The burger was a 1, good bun and toppings, but the beef was off like it was on its last day before being thrown out. The milkshake was good but not the flavor I ordered. The service was friendly but distracted like they had something else more important going on. Probably won't be back. It's no longer the icon it was before it changed location and the food was not good.

Love this place! Friendly wait staff and great food. The savory dishes are all good, but definitely try the moon babies. They are swedish-style pancakes that are a cross between a crepe and an American style pancake. The menu says they just come with preserves, but if you ask, they can also fill them with sweet cream cheese filling which is to die for! Grab a table by the window to watch the politicians rushing to the state capitol just around the corner.

It was my first time visiting yesterday. It was really good. All the servers were really nice. We got prompt service and she was on top of keeping our drinks full. My brother got the cheese burger with fries and cleaned his plate. I got the French dip. The bread on both of the sandwiches was so good. The cheese was super melty and perfect. It was great! The bathroom was well cleaned. The art on the walls was really cool.

So lets try something new, my friends say.....So we decided to take our collectively huge families to Moon's for lunch. Now I understand the sight of 7 elementary aged kids and their 4 parents walking through the door of your diner might be shocking, but to express that with looks of disdain and contempt is purely unacceptable. That's right, 2 of the 3 waitresses greeted our entrance with eye-daggers and icicles that said loud and clear "how dare you bring your flock of crumb grabbers in to our sanctuary of poor service and laziness". After fighting off the urge to run, we decided to stay and see if things got better. Our waitress (I forgot her name but she was NOT one of the ice-queens) was great. She was happy, singing along to the music that was playing over the speakers, and very welcoming (even with her obvious leg injury that was causing her to limp around). She was prompt with our order taking, and aside from a mix-up with the fries (plate swapping at the table was a little unorthodox but OK by me) the food delivery time was acceptable. The food was.....AMAZING !!!!! That, and the personal service was the redemption our experience needed. So after reading the reviews, I see that I am not the only one who has endured poor quality customer service, and I likely won't be the last. So HOPEFULLY ....the owner/manager of Moon's actually reads these reviews and takes corrective action to salvage their reputation (unless she was one of the ice-queens ????)

Our food was not good. My wife's poached eggs had very runny whites and my link sausage was barely warm on the outside and refrigerator cold on the inside. We ordered hash browns well done and they came out cold and (not sure why or how) but also very slimy. We ate almost none of our food and told the waitress. She brought us the check and apologized.
