Good food with a fun atmosphere. Portions are ridiculous large... Almost off-putting. Would love to see them rein in the size and drop the price a touch, but definitely the place to go if you're hungry! They were very busy when I was there, but they did a good job of moving the line and getting orders out.
This place is such a gem. Each time we went in, it was packed, but the service was excellent. It's an order+pay at the counter type place, and the servers are quick to run your food to you as soon as it's done. The scones are MASSIVE, and so so good (not dry at all). The breakfast plates also come in big portions, neither my fiance or myself could finish our food. They are very transparent about their locally sourced ingredients and are welcoming to dietary restrictions.
Absolutely one of my favorite places to visit. Amazing food options and delicious beverages. Is the staff ever in a bad mood? Not a chance. Nothing but good conversations and smiles. They are super quick getting your order out and cleaning tables when a party leaves. I'll always recommend Big City. A Boise best!
Long wait and hard to find seating. The food is excellent, but they serve multiple tickets at once, so sometimes one person in a group won't get their food for a long time after everyone else gets theirs.
Great breakfast and coffee. Bring a large appetite, plenty left over. Adequate parking during the week. Friendly staff.
Best place to get breakfast in Boise. Park off the alley around back and be prepared to wait in line if it's a weekend mid-morning! Don't let the low prices fool you, every plate is big enough for at LEAST two people. Giant scones, biscuits, and cinnamon rolls as big as your head are all intensely delicious. The Monkeytail is my go-to drink: a Mexican mocha with 4 shots of espresso. Phone ahead for takeout to save yourself the wait in line!
Some of the best and biggest biscuits and gravy in Boise. Brew is good too.
Awesome Food, Fresh,Healthy. Great coffee. love the atmosphere.
We love the quality of the food and beverages here. Always busy but it’s because their food is made from scratch and sooo good. Huge portions and tons of healthy options that accommodate all food allergies or preferences. Personally love the Farmer’s Daughter with added sausage. We come back time and time again. An example: their yogurt and granola is a large portion with homemade granola and fresh fruit (and not just strawberries and blueberries but always over 5 fresh fruits)
The biscuits and gravy are great. Good portions and ok prices. Very crowded, but food is good, nice atmosphere. Coffee is very good and grounds or beans are available for sale to make coffee at home.
Good coffee. Good service. Table set up does not favor inside traffic. Chairs and benches are not very comfortable.
Exceptional food! Large portions are perfect for sharing or leftovers. Good prices. And the coffee is well made with excellent flavor. Their baked goods are not only beautiful in presentation but have fantastic flavor. A good spot to take visitors for a nice Boise treasure/landmark feel. Come when it opens at 6am for a slow moring hometown feel or later in the moring for a community table feel! As a bonus take home one of their special coffee cans and support Breast Cancer awareness and research.
Great place with great food and coffee. Portions are large and everything was fresh. Food was delivered quickly. Staff were very friendly.
What a great place! Cute environment, great breakfast food. Ginormous scones and cinnamon rolls. The best tasting cinnamon roll I've ever had.
Lots of good food options, including a wonderful fruit plate. Interesting decor and friendly service. The only downside is it was too crammed.
Awesome place! Will be back for sure!
Hands down best breakfast and coffee shop in Boise! Massive portions of perfectly cooked food with wholesome ingredients presented on a gorgeous manner! Love this place! I've tried almost everything on the menu and never been disappointed! Huge tea and coffee selection as well! Enjoy :)
Love his place! Great good, service, and coffee!
Awesome little place. Great pastries.
Cool atmosphere and huge portions! Great crowd fairly busy with counter service and huge pastries!
Huge breakfast, amazing pastries. A must visit in Boise.
Giant portions. Very good food - I have ordered many things over the years and everything's been delicious! The staff are all extremely friendly, too. This place has been a favorite for a long time and has changed very little. Hope it stays like this, forever.
Big City Coffee has great breakfasts and lunches. I've never been disappointed in the food, service or coffee. The biscuits and gravy are the best.
Great food and great atmosphere! Sure it's a little spendy, but it's not out of the norm for downtown
Massive breakfast portions. Decent coffee.
Ham & cheese scone was delicious. And since it was huge, I got 2 breakfasts from it.
Friendly staff amd great food
I had the tamale plate and hubby had the biscuit sandwich plate that wasn't really a sandwich but massive plate of biscuit, egg, bacon, and gravy (see picture). We each finished less than half. Share plates - seriously huge portions!
Elevated in price, actually really expensive, walked out full and broke. $6 for a scone? It was tasty but tasted a little under cooked, and looked like dough in the middle. Coffee tasted thin and watered down not all that special, and @ $8 I was a little disappointed. My first time eating at big city coffee, maybe might try again? Hopefully better!
The food, staff and environment are amazing! It is a super welcoming place and a great way to spend your Saturday morning. I got biscuits and gravy with sausage and steamed eggs and my hubby got the rodeo burrito. Both were super delicious. The portions are HUGE so if you want to save a few, one plate is more than plenty to share between two people. I got a mexi mocha which was so so, I think coffee studio and Java are better in my opinion. My hubby got a Dutch mocha and that was pretty good. I would recommend this place for sure. oh and we got a monstrously delicious sugar cookie :)
Wanted to just get a coffee beverage but walked out immediately. I couldn't handle the long line narrowly wedged in between tables and all the "Blue Lives Matter" flags in my face. I wanted to support a local coffee shop rather than a large corporation but this isn't the place for me.
This is my staple coffee house. Great environment and super nice servers.
Gross food and we ordered 3 different things. No service to even speak of. Only positive was the jelly.
Terrible service. Walked in early Sunday morning. Saw lots of patrons at other tables but not busy in any stretch. Waited 10 min while the wait staff gossiped and ignored me. They didn't check in on any other staff either. So, I got up and left. I won't be back.
Great food and location
My favorite coffee/pastry shop
HUGE portions! I have never been disappointed by the food or service. My only criticism is that they should get a bigger place, Sundays get so packed it's standing room only! I guess that speaks to how good the food is.
I absolutely love this place! Great prices phenomenal food and really nice people!
Biggest and best breakfast in town
A rustic, eclectic little shop on the side of a busy street, Big City Coffee is homey and welcoming! The shop is covered in various agriculturally themed decorations, and the staff are dressed in a comfy-casual manner. Standing in line to give your order, paired with a free-for-all seating style uniquely combines both aspects of a traditional coffee shop and a dine-in breakfast eatery and creates a delightful eating experience. The vibe of the restaurant seems to attract all sorts, with a healthy mix of younger and older guests. The atmosphere is lively and full of laughter. The food is excellent as well, and served in huge portions. Half an order of their biscuits and gravy (delicious, savory, creamy gravy with homemade drop-style biscuits, yummy!!) is enough food for two people!!! Overall an excellent experience, artfully crafted and served with a smile.
I enjoy the pastries and coffee here. They have a breakfast and lunch menu that also looks delicious which I plan to try someday. Portions are generous. The decor and atmosphere is unique. I prefer getting here early to avoid the breakfast rush which can be standing room only sometimes.
The food and atmosphere are great. Only complaints is food never comes out at the same time even when ordered on the same ticket and there is no 16oz ice coffee. The range goes from 12oz to 20oz... so its either too little coffee or way too much.
Always fantastic! Pastry is awesome.
Must have the biscuits and gravy
Big food, good price. Eggs are bland in all the egg dishes. But everything else %100
My only complaint is that the portions are TOO HUGE! The food isTOO GOOD!! TOO FRESH! Everything that happens at this place is a stellar dining and social experience! I always take my out of town guests here. SHHHHHHH!!!! It is a LOCAL SECRET. SPOT THAT NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT!!! ..so if you are new to Boise, Don't RUIN it for us locals who have been coming here for years! I worked in the linen building back in the 80's-90's before they went out of business. At the linen company. The location of where Big City Coffee is..is where the huge washers, dryers and ironing stations were. Huge long conveyor belts where workers would count soiled linens from mechanic shops and restaurants. I was the computer data person who input the soil inventory tickets and did the invoices. My tickets always had dried up food and maggots on them! So now the laundry plant is a restaurant! YAY!
Good sized meals. Great service and I love the atmosphere
Food was really delicious and reasonably priced. Service was pretty good, but they were very busy and seemed to need a few more on staff to handle the crowd.
Amazing food and coffee! The portions of food are crazy big!
Simply wonderful, wish I lived here, so that; I could visit more often, Boise people, Y'all are lucky! Food, coffe, staff and atmosphere are a perfect 10!
This place is great, great food and awesome prices definitely get your money's worth.
Absolutely favorite breakfast place in Boise. Amazing baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, and coffee. Love that they utilize other local businesses, like Blue Sky Bagels in their meals.
Best breakfast in town
Great price and some of the best coffee in town. Love the vibe
Huge portions. Delicious food. Communal eating. A little loud, but totally worth it! Everything about this place was fun! Their baked goods are fabulous too!
Good place to have breakfast in Boise! They’re so friendly that I never felt out of place when I came there alone even though a lot of people were there with their friends or anyone.
If you're vegan, or are trying to eat more plant based foods, it's pretty hard to find anything at this place. They only have two plant milks for coffee, and their menu is really tricky too. I think you'd need to be at least a level 10 vegan (I'd say I'm like a level 7) to make anything work, which is hard when it's as busy as Big City seems to always be. I ordered the veggie bagel and swapped the cream cheese for hummus and there was *still* cheese baked on to the bagel. In spite of the menu making no mention of it. The atmosphere is cool, and the staff are decently friendly, but I can't shake the feeling that in a city like Boise, when a restaurant has so few plant based options, there's some sort of purposeful bias against vegans/people trying to make more sustainable diet choices. I was actually really disappointed.
Went for breakfast and had a burrito. Definitely did not enjoy it. The meat was not great. My raspberry mocha was fine, but didn't have much coffee flavor coming through. Their scones are great though. I might give it another chance for coffee, but the place is crazy busy most times.
Yummy cold brew coffee and giant delicious pumpkin chai muffin (I mean HUGE!) . It was a very busy morning and everyone was prompt and nice.
This is the FIRST five star review I have given for breakfast in Boise. In addition, it just might be the first five star review I've given anywhere in a while. We are new to Boise and have spent the past two weeks while the kids are out if school trying all the breakfast "hot spots" in Boise and this was by far the best yet! The portions are HUGE (ex. A side of bacon is like 5-6 slices - not your typical 2-3 most places give and only $3.49 and a side of eggs is about 3-5 scrambled eggs). They have an amazing espresso bar with everything you can imagine, even REAL cold brew (not just iced coffee). Their waffles are perfect large Belgium style and only $5.99. they have tons of topping options as well. They have homemade jelly/jam and a special cookie butter! They have gluten free bread too! Theye a full bakery and sell many items to go. They give fresh fruit with every meal and it's actually fresh (includes berries, apples, pears, pineapple, grapefruit, etc...). The best part was the price was right. As a family of five we usually spend about $85 out for a good breakfast (we have teenage boys) and we get about half the amount of food. We only spent $60 here (inlcuding two lattes for momma) and we had so much food we didn't know what to do with it. I would have taken more pics but was too excited to dig in The quality was spot on. Way to go Big City you guys know what your doing. Other details: - Located linen district aka near downtown - Street parking - About 10-25 tables (some large farmer tables seat 8+) - counter order, they bring to table - lots to look at, very vintage farmer decor - outside seating in spring/summer - open seating, can be busy, but quaint and quiet
I believe they have the best eggs and bacon ever
Nice laid back place. The Scandanavian is awesome!
"WOW." "This is Incredible." "Dang this cofeve is legit." "Wow this Omelet though." -Me
Nice cup of Americano. Quick service. Nice atmosphere. Reasonably priced
Great customer service and biscuits and gravy
Fun place for breakfast. Fantastic scones.
Awesome food!
Always delish and love the feel of the place! My go to do Sunday brunch!
Love the atmosphere and the drinks are quite lovely! A must visit for anyone in the area in need of a place to hang or a pick me up!
Great coffee, large pastry selection and the pastries are huge, and friendly staff.
Best food, coffee, and prices in Boise. Parking is annoying, as always.
A really cool coffee shop, and a very nice breakfast place.
Always great food and atmosphere!
The food was soooo good, I didn’t even need to save my bacon for last!
Great breakfast & friendly ambience!
Wow, fantastic food and great atmosphere
Always awesome. Can be really busy but worth the wait.
We were in town visiting family. Asked where to go and Big City was recommended. Wonderful food. Great place to people watch.
This was recommended during a local food tour. Cute atmosphere, busy, small café. Very loud. Ordered biscuits and gravy. Half order was very large which was impressive at first. I saw several plates left partially eaten and thought it was due to the size. The gravy tasted good but unfortunately the biscuit was raw on the bottom and center. Didn't eat most of this dish. Cashier said she was sorry and thanks for letting her know. Too bad but won't eat here again.
Definitely one of our favorite Coffee hangouts! If you leave there hungry it's you're own fault. A 1/2 an order of anything can make 2 or 3 meals. The atmosphere is bustling & friendly. I Love the country/farm/antique motif. Try out the Bit O Honey latte, excellent!
Food: The food portions are huge. The bakery items are excellent as well. Service: you walk up to order and the food is delivered. So, not entirely full service. But they are pretty attentive overall. Cleanliness: tables could be cleaned quicker. Each time I am there it seems I sit at a dirty table until someone gets to cleaning it. Minus one star- because you walk up and order, there is usually a line through the restaurant. This makes it difficult to get anywhere as the line blocks the entrance, bathroom and access to half of the tables in the dining area. And then if you are seated on either the side of the line, you have an endless group of people towering over you as you eat. The food is worth it. I go back often. But, I am not a fan of the situation with the line.
They were overwhelmed with customers and it took 45 minutes for a coffee, hot chocolate, and fruit and granola. Otherwise great food and good coffee.
Ok, I've been looking forward to trying this out for a long time. Heard so many good things about it. Walked in and place is packed on a Tuesday morning...good sign. Ordered at the counter and only seat was at the counter off to the side of the ordering counter. Got a cinnamon roll, delicious! One glass of water had black things floating in it, got another one no biggie as it's help yourself to glasses. (Basket of table sign holders stored above water glass station right next to stacks of dirty dishes being washed...prob where black stuff came from.) My biscuits and gravy came out, but took 10 more mins for my friends food to come out. As sitting there, was noticing how run down and dirty the behind the counter area was. Employees would go from picking up dirty dishes, taking orders and money, to handling baked items and making coffee, never once washing their hands. A girl would grab water glasses reaching into the glasses after she had done other duties. Guy rubbing his nose then picking up dishes and carried silverware in his back pocket to give to people. The list of poor food handling practices could go on, but I won't. The place needs cleaned, the staff needs trained on sanitary food handling and how to be friendly as not anyone smiled or seemed to enjoy being there. I can only imagine what goes on in the kitchen based in what I saw.
Just great breakfast and coffee options.
Biscuits and gravy weren't great but the pesto Turkey sandwich was good. Fun atmosphere. Bathrooms were one person at a time type, not ideal.
They have some of the best pastries
This was recommended during a local food tour. Cute atmosphere, busy, small café. Very loud. Ordered biscuits and gravy. Half order was very large which was impressive at first. Probably my favorite restaurant in Boise. Certainly my favorite breakfast/brunch spot. I always get the Loaded Potato dish. Then I'll get something from the pastry/dessert display. Always amazing and such a cool environment. I hit it up every time I'm in Boise. Highly recommend stopping by.
Really tasty food and large portions. Very filling breakfast.
The muffin was on point loved give it a ten. The biscuits and gravy were fluffy and delicious just to much biscuits. I didn't order the potato's the server said there was only one kind I wish I would have tried them. Maybe next time if there is a next time. <3
Great coffee and food, they sell their own coffee you can make and take home too. It's amazing coffee, and they contribute some of the earnings to a breast cancer charity. Will be coming back for more!!
Oh my goodness! Get in the express line and get your coffee and sticky bun or absolutely heavenly scones and leave to go fishing or hiking. What a treat! One am we had breakfast which was divine. These guys can’t do anything wrong. They are golden!
Loved the potatoes. The seasoning was perfect. I got the loaded potatoes, it was enough for two meals. I also hope the bacon cheese scone which again was great and I don't usually like scones. Very busy place but food came out pretty quick. Will definitely be back.
Great service, coffee, hot chocolate. Tight seating
My first time there and it was AMAZING!! Great service, the food was beyond amazing! I've never had sprouts so fresh and so green, yum!! And it is such a great little spot!!! Definitely coming back ❤
Great food... Huge portions.... Can be tough finding a place to sit as it's often crowded
Such great fresh food. I'm indecisive as heck and they have so many options. One lovely girl that worked there gave me suggestions and they were quite welcome! I had the veggie wrap and bit 'ohoney latte. The food portions are huge, i could've easily shared. Plus the story behind the restaurant is amazing.
Okay so I spent a weekend in Boise and everyone told me to go to Big City coffee and cafe for brunch! Well they did not let me down, this place was packed on a Sunday morning! I debated ordering some of the hot food but ultimately just decided to grab a couple of pastries and a coffee. The blueberry scone was the best I’ve ever tasted! Definitely will be back again just for the scone! The vibe is very chill and hometown type of feel! Recommend!
Fantastic experience! Great food.
The food is amazing! I had a latte and the bbc breakfast sandwich. They were tasty af. Great portions and prices. The reason for the 2 star review is the entire restaurant is decorated with racist flags so the atmosphere was quite unsettling. Maybe take your food to go.
Wow! Great coffee, fabulously well prepared food, fresh and flavorful baked goods! Everything in generous portions. Friendly , helpful staff. Noisy when busy, but a welcoming atmosphere. You're fortunate if you live close enough yo be a regular, and it's well worth a detour if you're just passing through town.
Food is mediocre, but the desserts are good. Open seating is a pain and the food never comes out together. Not worth the wait or frustrations.
Big City is an interesting, one of a kind place, with a unique take on Cafes. While there is a lot to like, it also has some flaws that can, at times, be quite important. Let's start with the good. The food is massive, consistent, and of a large variety. The atmosphere is relatively calm, and the staff are pleasant. Now for the bad. This will take longer, as there are a few little things. First of all, the waffles often are on the overcooked side. Last time I visited, it was borderline burnt. Second is the scale of the facility. It's a good bit too small for the massive crowd it draws, and the single person restrooms are a long waiting, leg crossing problem on occasion. Last time I went, they also smelled of what I could only describe as burnt flour. I do believe most of the problem could be alleviated were they to move, but I have no idea of their profit margins, and by extension, the feasibility of a move. The unique process you go through to way there is sometimes breezy, sometimes a drag. You wait in line to order, they give you drinks and a table marker, and you go sit and wait for your food. All in all, I would highly recommend it as a cafe, just to stop for a pastry and a drink. If you want more of a breakfast, I would say Elmer's is a better choice.
Fun place with delicious food and drinks!
Phenomenal cafe. Good vibes & great food at an affordable price. Everything you'd expect from a locally owned place. There's WiFi and plenty of table seating, but it does get busy. The staff is mainly local college kids. The food is traditional (eggs, waffles, etc) but it's good portions and cooked well. This isn't a local roaster; they primarily serve mixed espresso drinks (think espresso with milk and flavoring).
Great place. Highly recommend this anything-but-big-city-feeling-place with their warm and welcoming staff and fun atmosphere - roll up garage door front and excellent music... oh, and the food is delicious. Try one of the extremely large baked goods, smooth espresso beverages, ginormous burritos, tasty granola and fruit bowls, and/or excellent egg dishes. All are thoroughly enjoyable and satisfying.
Love this place! They always have massive portion sizes and really good coffee. Great location and friendly staff make this one of my favorite coffee and food places in B-town.
Vibrant atmosphere. Good food.
It gets crowded, but it's wonderful if you get there early enough! Great coffee, enormous pastries and breakfasts! It's got a fun country feel and I always enjoy the music.
Food is always so good, especially with a cup of drip coffee. Big City’s drip coffee is my favorite in town. Very friendly and welcoming customer service and staff, too! A Boise Staple.
Freshly brewed coffee, love everything on the menu. Almond scone, cheese cake are the highlight of the bakery goods. Perfect brunch spot all season
Awesome pastries, wonderful food, really friendly staff. Oh, and the coffee is good too!
The very best 'well-known secret' Cafe in Boise!
Busy on the 4th. Family style seating. Just find a seat next to someone and make a new friend. Portions are big, prices reasonable. Food de-lish. Coffee very good.
Love this place! Incredible food and coffee. Eclectic atmosphere. Helpful staff. It’s a regular stop for us!
Scones and coffee cakes bigger than your head. It's a good thing. Great mochas and coffees. Needs more seating cause it's always packed cause everyone knows it's the best breakfast place.
I've gone all over trying to find biscuits and gravy that compare. No one does. I've been to Nashville Tennessee, where I went to a restaurant called biscuit love, which was surprisingly bad btw (great for people who care more about plating and atmosphere than food), and another restaurant in Nashville that was supposed to have the best biscuits and gravy. They don't even hold a candle to big city. No one does. The only time I've had something that I was like "yeah, this is good" since big city, is when I went to Eddie's diner. And they still weren't as good as big city. Be warned, if you come here, if you order the biscuits and gravy, you will never be blessed with ignorance again. You will know all other places are inferior.
Best scones I've found in a long time!
The location wasn't what I was expecting... But the atmosphere and food/coffee was amazing! Very good quality food for the price. Below is biscuits and gravy with eggs and sausage.
Pretty great place for breakfast. Loud atmosphere but if ur ok with that the food is amazing and way more than u can finish. Definitely returning soon.
Waited in line for 15 minutes to order. Then waited 35 minutes to get my food. Staff was rude. Food wasn’t good. Would give zero stars if I could.
Scones, quiche and amazing coffee. This place is great.
Great joe, service can take awhile & seats hard to find, but they are busy for a good reason!! Great coffee.
Incredible local flavor and decor. These baked goods are to die for! The cookies are HUGE and so chewy. A comfortable spot to hang out, or good fast service if you’re in a rush. I ordered a big box of goodies for the office and everyone loved it.
Excellent!! If you want delicious food, come here. Baked good section is outstanding. Potatoes get an A+. Sausage/feta Quiche yummy (but they forgot to put in the spinach: probably because they were just slaying food all morning). Even the side fruit was very good! Would come here weekly if I lived close!
This place is so cute! It has a great atmosphere, kind and helpful staff, great food selection, and the best coffee! 10/10 would recommend.
Good food and friendly staff. It's very busy on the weekends and finding a seat can be hard to do. The food portions are large so you won't go hungry!
I've never been so dissatisfied to the point of leaving a negative review, until I ordered a Bacon Wrap breakfast burrito. It was sitting in a pool of grease, but not only that the tortilla had absorbed so much grease it was essentially inedible. I had to take it out of the container and put it on a plate lined with thick paper towels then wrapped the whole thing in another layer of paper towels.....and it was still soaked in grease. I had to trash all of it besides the egg on the inside.
Fantastic breakfast spot, portions are huge and quality is too notch while prices remain extremely reasonable.
I really want to give them 5 stars but they basically forgot about us on a simple to go order on a busy day. Other than that woops everything was amazing and it is a fun place to check out. I will definitely go back and see if we can get it to 5 stars.
Best women's bathroom ever!! My wife raves about how clean and fresh smelling it is every time we go there. The quiche is so incredibly tasty! Fresh fruit is so very tasty and locally sourced. The people who work there are so attentive and responsive. They solve any problem or issue quickly and efficiently and without complaint. We could not ask for more.
Absolutely delicious!! Huge portions and fantastic flavors!! Not to mention how astounding the atmosphere was. Cute farmhouse decor and great service! This place has it all!!
If you want a biscuit or burrito as big as your face....you've come to the right place!!!!
Always a line (line goes quickly) and well worth the wait. Healthy and AMAZING breakfast and coffee.
It was okay. I don't understand the lines out the door. The eggs we're steamed ie. Not good. And with my bagel all I tasted was the pepper on the Everything bagel. I wouldn't recommend this place.
Best food huge portions..always come here when I'm in boise
I love their Bagel with cream cheese and Avocado. The sinemmon roll is great.
This place is just too slow. Tables are dirty. Everything is cramped. It's loud. They have tables outside and you should see the sidewalk under those tables. Disgusting. There's styrofoam trash from here all over the place in a two block radius. I'd say the cinnamon rolls are huge and sweet, but the whole thin blue line thing they have been pushing is a bit much and leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. I guess that's the new whites only sign? Skip it. There's better food at cleaner places that have higher standards and appreciate all customers.
Delicious food & drinks! Just be aware that seating is limited.
I loved it! The atmosphere is unique. Food is highly appealing, generously portioned, and served on decorative plates. My mother and I were so full after sharing the Blackberry scone and the Breakfast Wrap with bacon. Perfect spot for brunch! Can be a bit busy and loud though. Innovative use of what seems like was previously a shop or garage. You wouldn't realize it until you were soaking in sun-rays over lunch on the bench by the window.
I’ve been going here for easily 10 years and always love the food, coffee and atmosphere!! Incredible portions!
Great food with huge portions. I got the wrap, which is a breakfast burrito that you eat with a fork and knife, it was more then enough for two. Excellent latte and very beautiful. Seating is a bit tricky, don't be shy to ask to share a table. Would not recommend for a large group to sit and stay. Food is a bit slow coming out so even if you order to-go you should probably just sit especially if the line is to the door and the tables are mostly full.
I am not from Boise. Just visiting. I only got a black coffee, so I can't comment on the food. I just had a cup of black coffee. This place was recommended to me by a friend. I can't comment on the food but the pastries in the pastry case looked delicious. The serving staff was kind and professional. Alas, I don't care for the cluttered, country/industrial aesthetic (a weird, eclectic combo--some might like it). A quibble about the music: I didn't care for the too loud, twangy pop country and blues. And now, my coffee: my big complaint is that my coffee wasn't warm enough and, worse, it was somewhat stale. I blame it on the cylindrical, push top thermoses that some coffee shops use to store and provide self-serve their coffee. It's been my experience that these horrible thermoses aren't changed often enough and so the coffee gets incrementally cold and stale. Cold coffee is a major turn off for me. If a business advertises themselves as a coffee shop or cafe, then it is absolutely incumbent upon them to make sure that that product is 100% on target. I do think they need to change the coffee thermoses more regularly or get rid of them and do pour overs or presses. To conclude: I think, perhaps, this is more of a breakfast and lunch place and less of a coffee shop, so this might be a case of inaccurate expectations on my part. I'm obviously not their intended clientele, because I like fresh, hot coffee, and an elegant, somewhat relaxing environment to drink it in. This place is more of a quirky diner with coffee shop elements.
Among the best places in Boise, Idaho to enjoy locally sourced food in a locally owned business. Besides the food and coffee, which are both delicious, the atmosphere here truly sets Big City Coffee apart from its competitors. Be ready to share a table with friends you haven't met just yet, and fill yourself up with some biscuits and gravy or perhaps a waffle chosen from a creative menu.
I really love their scones and bagel sandwiches. Coffee is good and a great place to meet with friends. Go on an off day or else the place is packed!
Generous portions, clean healthy food, great coffee, and great friends. I love Big City!
Yummy food, great atmosphere.
Always a place I come to when visiting Idaho!!! Food has big portions and is always delicious!! I love getting the bakery items with my coffee
We don't go to Boise often but whenever we do, my wife and I plan for Big City Coffee. The coffee itself is really delicious. The eggs are steamed and very good. Amazing variety of baked goods. I have ordered a different breakfast every time I'm there and love them all. We've never been there when it wasn't busy, all manner of people. The staff is always busy and pleasant.
My garters and stars! This place is my go to coffee shop in Boise. Try a massive cinnamon roll or the biscuits and gravy. Coffee is off the hook as well.
Food is good. Service is minimal, as little as possible. Atmosphere is crowded and noisy unless you like eating while someone is queued next to your seat. No diversity in either customer or help. Good for someone making the scene in Blase~
Awesome place with fun vibes! The portions were huge! They also have super good desserts!
Super yummy! Great food and huge portions! Will be back when I visit Boise again!
Good atmosphere. Lots of food. A bit too salty.
Always awesome food & friendly staff. Youre most likely going to be sitting at a table with one or more stranger and theyre always polite & friendly! Drip ☕ is GREAT!
Open, sunny space with very sweet staff. Muffin was yummy (I had the pumpkin Chai upon recommendation - very sweet, which hit the spot for me this Monday morning). Good latte. The steamed eggs with spinach and feta were good on the outsides, but unfortunately overcooked within (took on a grey hue and felt more dense). They could also give you HALF the eggs and it would be a better ratio with the other ingredients, but I understand not all clientele would appreciate such a change. I relayed this to one of the staff and he was very nice and said he'd pass the message to the kitchen. I'll probably stop in next time I'm visiting Crazy Neighbor across the street. :)
I have been only one time but am supper disappointed with the food. Huge flavorless portions of half warm food after a very long wait. Great ambiance and coffee for sure but would not order food here.
Loved this place. Went both mornings we were in Boise for breakfast. The blackberry scones were awesome, the coffee is really good and the breakfast dishes were excellent. Fun atmosphere too. Highly recommend it.
Delicious food, good coffee, amazing decor and atmosphere. Parking is a lot easier than downtown but it's just a short walk outside of downtown Boise. I always come here when I'm in the area!
Fresh and tasty. Big portions. Maybe too big, but I can't hate on that. The staff is friendly and the music is always good.
Best waffle and fruit with homemade whip cream!
Great place to eat! The atmosphere is great as well!
My favorite coffee shop in Idaho. Worth the wait everytime. Great food, big homestyle portions! If you leave uncaffinated or hungry its your own fault :) 5 stars for sure!
