Went there today & ordered an Iced Mocha & Frappe... No coffee taste at all! Strictly tasted like water with chocolate syrup in it for both drinks! Where was the coffee? I would never go here again! & the white guy working literally flew/slid my card to me instead of handing it to me! Rude! Save your time and money go to Starbucks or any other coffee shop! I didn’t ask for a refund because that’s just more energy wasted!

I visited the Kona Coffee Cafe to purchase some 100% Kona coffee to take back to the states. The young girl who waited on me was so friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. She really stressed that I should sample some of the flavors before deciding which ones to buy. Consequently, I have quite a nice supply which should last me for a while, but plan to order more before I run out. Kona coffee is my new favorite thing, hot or on ice, and I plan to order more beans from Kona Coffee Cafe. It's a great place!

Have been non-stop awestruck by the beauty of the island, the people, and OMG!! THE COFFEE IS NO JOKE!! Couldn't believe how many coffee farms there are in one little place, and how varied they taste from one altitude to another. Thankfully we found the proverbial "Kona Coffee Sweet-Spot" while shopping for t-shirts and doo dad's to take home. Isn't it always the unassuming little hole, mom and pop's that are the best?! This one was just a "mom" and I think that gave it more of it's unique and addictive character. The entire staff was SO awesome, never pushy like most other places. Felt like you were hanging out at their house just "talking story" as they say here. Anyway, having a boatload of their Peaberry Dark Roast sent home... Bought a 5lb bag!!! There is someone immediately there to greet you and offer useful information about it's origins. After trying several different varieties, this was the coffee that was chosen. This coffee seemed to have the lowest acidity of all we tried. The dark roast chocolate macadamia nut is a great flavored coffee. We will definitely be buying and shipping to the mainland to enjoy until the next trip. 5 STARS ALL AROUND!!! Stopped into this quaint little cafe for a ice cold pick me up and ended up leaving with a treasure trove of knowledge, the best coffee I've ever had as well as the best customer service I've ever received. From the moment I spotted it walking through the Kona Inn, I was immediately drawn to the upbeat energy that buzzed around it. 2 young ladies were engaged with individual groups, and the cutest little coffee mugs I've ever seen, talking about the history of Kona coffee which facinated me as well as the others sipping from their cups. Yet they still took a moment to acknowledge me, which I found very touching. The gentleman behind the counter, Patrick, was equally polite and incredibly accommodating as I didn't really know what I wanted. He was right there with a suggestion that I already miss now that I'm home: A Dirty Frappe. Oh my Lord! Absolute heaven with a kick in the pants- peaberry iced espresso, blended with ice cream, chocolate and chocolate covered peaberry beans!!! I don't think I went a day without one. Julia & Camry, the 2 young ladies were finishing up with their groups just as I'd begun to look around the shop and were so incredibly informative as to the specific nuances that set Kona coffee farms apart from each other, and from any other coffee. I got to sample their farms coffees from their medium Arabica, the unique peaberry as well as some lovely flavored varieties. I was never pushed to buy, which was a first since I landed at Kona Airport, and left with a few of their small bags to take back to my condo along with the chocolate covered peaberry beans and additional treats. By the following evening of course, I was ready for another dirty drink and I had the pleasure of meeting the night crew: Danny, Harmony and Shady who were all just as delightful and able to answer all the questions I'd come up with. By the time I let the poor dears close, they'd taken care of my gift list, including gifts of peaberry meduim roast for me, shipped it for free and even espresso ground a half pound for my daily condo coffee. Again, a 5 star experience. Honestly, if I could give 10, I wouldn't hesitate.

This last Holliday was our 3rd consecutive, and 4th total, Big Island excursion and I can still say, all the ziplining, snorkeling and lava flows aside, our time spent tasting and re-tasting our rare and precious Peaberry with owner, Trish, and her alwaxys gracious, lovely staff is seeing old friends. Especially Patrick. He took amazing care of us this trip in particular as we were joined this year by my husband's elderly parents on their first Hawaiian Holliday. Patrick's polite and calm demeanor, proactive attention to detail, sensing the need prior to the request insured that Mum and Da were shaded, comfortable and most importantly, INCLUDED in the full experience: the tasting, marvelling them with his genuine passion for sharing his extensive knowledge of the coffee from seed to bean to cup and the science behind it. So, another fantastic Hawaiian holiday in the books, a 5lb bag of Peaberry Dark beans, hands down the BEST coffee beans I've found ANYWHERE!! And a variety of Kona's best cacao covered delights... Shipped home at no stress or financial burden to us...all of which MIGHT last until the start of summer... (Trish, you should probably have another of the same ready by Easter, love!! oxoxoxo)

service, amazing. we got so many great tips on were to eat and what to do while on the island. the coffee is very good, we tried one coconut and one almond latte. the almond was vastly better but the coconut one was deliciouse as well. the little beach behind this place was a nice place to sip and watch the ocean and spy into a few tide pools. Best Kona coffee we've had and cheap to ship back to the mainland We were in Kona for two weeks and literally came across this place on our very last day. Since I like macadamias I decided to try a cup of their Vanilla Macadamia coffee. Yeah, I bought two pounds to take back home and have reordered it since we got back. They changed their shipping method so it's actually quite inexpensive to ship back to the mainland. Previously we've paid almost as much for shipping as the coffee itself cost.

Best coffee I’ve had. I was skeptical at first as the store is located in a very “tourist trap” location but after arriving and kindly greeted by the store workers several samples of their fantastic peaberry coffee we given out and we were instantly hooked. It’s like they took all the worst parts of coffee (acid, bitterness) and threw them out and what’s left is a smooth cup of deliciousness. We bought two 8oz bags of the peaberry to take home to enjoy.

I don’t typically post bad reviews, but the terrible customer service we received brought me to this point. We went in hopeful, as the reviews led us to believe. However, the two girls working the counter were not friendly (right from the start). My friend got the smoothie, and when she asked to get non-dairy milk they gave attitude. Granted, they had already started making the drink so I’ll give them that. That was our bad. When I ordered my drink, (which somehow came to $8.56), I was hoping it’d be worth the price. I took a few drinks and it really only tasted like blended ice! I thought maybe they forgot the mocha flavor or something, so I went back up to the counter. I said, “I’m so sorry, I don’t want this to sound rude. My drink doesn’t have much flavor, could I maybe add something to it?” The gal responded, “it’s because you got coconut milk.” I said, well... “ I don’t think the milk alternative would dilute the flavor, but okay, that’s fine. Would it be okay to maybe add a little more mocha?” She grabbed the cup from my hand and said “You can’t blame us if you don’t like it.” It did taste much better after they added the mocha. I went to the restroom shortly after and my friend stayed outside. Another customer ordered a drink and when they left, one of the girls said “I bet THAT one likes her drink”. I used to be a barista and could not fathom treating a customer like that. Sadly we were disappointed and will not be returning, nor recommending.

Lots of coffee samples which is great. Kona is very smooth. I ordered an Americano with the Kona Peaberry. The barista pulled a poor shot of double espresso. For what the coffee should be, it certainly wasn’t. If Kona is indeed the best. The barista better be really talented. It certainly was the experience that made me want to pay the big price for Kona Coffee. The staff was very, very friendly and the pie was excellent. Good place but there are better places for coffee on the island.

My husband and I visited the Kona Coffee Cafe during our honeymoon stay in Kailua-Kona. The staff were essential in helping us choose which coffes matched our tastes. While waiting for the rest of the shoppers in my group, I was drawn to the Kona Coffee Cafe in the Kona Inn Shopping Center on Alii Drive by the aroma of fresh coffee. 100% Kona coffee is my favorite and this shop offered a variety of flavors to sample. The Peaberry is low acid and my all-time favorite. My suitcase was already pretty full, so I had the shop ship my coffee home and it arrived before I did so I didn't have to suffer any Kona coffee withdrawal symptoms. I'm at home now, but it still smells like Hawaii each morning.

I visit Kona Coffee Café any time I am on the Big Island. The coffee is so great and just sitting out by the harbor with a cup is great. When I am not there I have to settle for drinking it at home in the frozen north. I just let my supply dry up and am now waiting for it to arrive. Addicted... I stumbled on this cafe on my last day on the Big Island and bought a pound of the Dark Peaberry Roast. When we got back, my husband started drinking this delicious coffee and we both got hooked-- we are now ordering it online for delivery in Boston. It seems a bit expensive, but it's so strong that you use less and so it works out price wise to be comparable to any other good coffee. Really, really recommend trying this amazing coffee ... however, you won't be able to go back! Of note, delivery was super super fast!

From the samples to learning the basic science of great coffee, the Kona Coffee Café is a must on anyone's Big Island to do list. My husband and I visited Kona last year and bought about 5 brands of coffee from Kona to bring home with us. After going through several brands, we opened our last bag (which happened to be Peaberry Medium Vanilla Macadamia Nut flavored coffee from Kona coffee Café) and we LOVED IT!!! So much so that it has become a regular coffee that we put in orders for and I have sent to us in Alaska! I honestly can’t stand storebrand coffee anymore after drinking Kona Coffee Café coffee! No other coffee compares for me! Love it and I will continue to be a loyal customer for a long time to come!

My husband and I visited the Kona Coffee Cafe during a recent trip to Kailua-Kona. There were several varieties of coffee to choose from and the gal at the counter was very helpful with choosing which coffees to buy. I liked that there were samples to try before making our decision. They also had a great shipping deal so we didn't have to bring our purchase home on the airplane! I was amazed at how fast our order was shipped to our home! We are truly enjoying our morning Kona coffee and will order again when our supply gets low.

The service was unfriendly and unprofessional. The pregnant lady that served us needs more training. We got 2 out of four requested items. Two of us were okay with the 100%peaberry kona coffee cappuccino we ordered. We wanted to order a small smoothie or prune fruit drink for (20 month old child) however she didn’t have anything but a 16oz, and refused to serve us anything smaller. The 4th person ordered large 100% Peabody Kona coffee dark roast, it was very weak. He returned it and the girl serving said that you got what you ordered. He asked for another coffee and she refused. She did offer another kind, substitute, credit or his money back . He left the coffee on the counter and departed the established. She told him to have a good day. Worst service received here on the island. There was no reason she could’ve sell us a half a smoother order, there’s no reasons why a child’s drink is not on menu and no reason why a substitute or refund was given on the awlful coffee. We will not return and will not recommend to anyone.

Oh my god! What a fabulous place!! The service is friendly, informative, and helpful. They allowed us to have as many tastes as we wanted at first, and to choose whatever bean we liked best. We got a pound of coffee, cookies, even test tasted the chocolate! I sat at home in my hotel sipping this delicious experience in a cup with my friend (who also bought a pound). It didn't taste like coffee as I know it. It was not bitter. It was not bark-like or burnt. It was a soothing hot drink, an elixir that I have never enjoyed so much in my life. The lady who served us gave us so much background on the company, the coffee, the industry, and also about the island, and about Hawaiians in general...it was a very good experience to be a tourist/visitor at Kona Coffee Cafe!! Ten years ago during a trip to Kona, we stumbled across this cool little cafe. Of course we bought some famous Kona coffee to bring home for our enjoyment. OMG, all these years later we still purchase coffee from here on a regular basis online and PRESTO, it appears on our doorsteps!! Love this coffee! I prefer the medium roast ground, my brother prefers peaberry and medium roast whole beans. I went to this place to try some kona coffee and was greeted by friednly staff. They had variuos roasts and flavors to sample so you know what you're buying. I really liked the medium roast peaberry coffee, very smooth, no bitter aftertaste or heartburn afterwards, lol. I purchased both the meduim and dark roast, delicious, I'm savoring every cup. would definitely order more in the future.

Chocolate macadamia roast, just hot black coffee, is amazing- probably the best black I’ve tasted? I have a bit of a sweet tooth. However, it’s a bit pricy. You get to try samples of all the other coffees though.
