Simple and delicious! I had a hamburger steak with eggs and hash browns - so good! Staff was friendly, nice selections, portions good and the prices very fair. It is open seating as mentioned (cafeteria style), if this matters to you. I would show up weekly if I were local.
Good food. It's a popular local hangout. We found by mistake and really enjoyed it.
Great restaurant! The food, price and service were excellent!
Loco moco and kalua pig omelette was awesome!
Great food for the price. Definitely would come back to try something different. What I got was amazing, but it was hard to decide on their wide selection.
Good food, good aloha. I had the Portuguese sausage and egg breakfast special. It was delicious and a great portion size. I ordered the eggs over easy that's exactly how I got them. The hash browns were nice and crisp.
Steak and eggs (local cholesterol heaven, says my wife)
Food was good but had to ask for water 4 times.
Great local food at a good price! I'd come back next time I'm in town.
Good food. Good prices. Moderate wait time.
Tasty and inexpensive menu.
This was a great breakfast spot!! The food came quick and was very yummy!
Pretty good! They had banana and pineapple pancakes that were crazy delicious!! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a good breakfast joint.
While the breakfast menu shows it ends at 11 am, you can still order anything on it except french toast and pancakes. The server at this restaurant is rude and charged us for two "side dishs" ($8.00) when all we wanted were add ons ($2.00). The food is overpriced for the amount and quality you get. The restaurant interior is bleak and run down. The washrooms were also very dirty.
The best
Loved this place! Great breakfast dishes, full of flavor and local tradition, and the staff was great! One of Kauai’s best breakfast places for sure.
Great stop for local flavor! Food is prepared fresh. Great tasting comfort food!
Horrible food and service
You know I’ve always loved it here. So we decided to have brekafast this morning because we haven’t been in a while. I order the banana waffle and it comes super thin and mushy. I bite it and it’s all dough with chunks of smashed banana. I’m not a grumbler so I put it aside and just ask for a side toast. She come back and tells me, “it’s still going to be on your bill!!!” “I’m like that’s fine thank you.” She walks away and everyone in the back starts staring at me like I’m a bad person, she then comes back and loudly so the entire Resturant occupants can here “so what’s wrong with, can you at least tell us so we can make it better!!! Do you want us to make it again!” Now I’m itratated but again I say no thank you I’m fine! So the bill comes and there’s the $8 for the waffle I didn’t eat. Don’t get me wrong I was going to pay it anyway but to make me feel bad in front of everyone. And I did leave a tip even though she didn’t start my morning off right. Again my first ever bad experience...the rest of my food was great! But customer service goes a long way, I’m in hospitality and I would have never made my guest feel like you guys made me feel today!
Awesome service.
The service was bad & the food was horrible.
4 stars for the food. It was as expected from reading other peoples reviews. Service was not great. It wasn't really busy, but I asked for water and almost drank the other two glasses before she came around to getting water.
Nice little place grab breakfast.
Last true a Hawaiian meal before leaving Kauai
Good local grins!!!
Good breakfast for a decent price.
Food was good and a decent price out side looks horrible
Steak under cooked cold coffee. Nice atmosphere but not very friendly
Traditional and local favorites for a great price. Food is excellent and easy on the pocketbook. Ate at a lot of breakfast places on the island. This one is my favorite.
Authentic Hawaiian dishes, along with Mainland items. Good food for a reasonable price.
Got to the airport early, had a chance to grab some breakfast. Quick and delicious!
The place to go for local food
Good breakfast been several times. Lunch more on plain side. Get served fast friendly staff. Loco moco best thing on menu.
KAUAI'S Denny's... only more welcoming.
Local food, diner style, lots of local patrons.
Great service and homestyle foods
It's okay mostly local fair. I guess the good points are, it's slightly less expensive than most restaurants on the island.
It was pretty tasty! Everything was cooked just right and the service was very friendly too.
Ordered French Toast, i could have made it better myself, and I dont cook
Eeeeeh...it's so so. Nothing that Wows at this place. Food was mediocre and service was below average. Kind of rude and just not pleasant. There is another establishment literally a couple hundred feet away that as well worth the visit. I'm sure the locals like the spot however as a tourist I really wouldn't recommend wasting your time or money here. Also. This restaurant charges almost a 4% up-charge to use a credit card.
Bacon Cheese Loco Moco! Yes please
Nice local little joint. Made me feel like I was in a Bingo parlor. Staff is nice, food was good enough.
Best loco Moco on the island! Bacon cheeseburger. Get it if you love brown gravy and bacon!
the prices are up and the plates got changed.
Lots of locals but surprised by the prices for what it was
Love this place. Great food and reminds me of diner's back home.
The garlic fried chicken for lunch was da best.. The breakfast is also great too.. Friendly service...
Home style. Excellent parking
The food was good and served hot. The place was clean but felt like it had been thrown together from several different restaurants. Overall I'd recommend it for the ohana.
OUTSTANDING.
Bomb local restaurant. Simple, clean and original. They have awesome food in genuine Hawaiian fashion. Get the loco Moco.
Decent breakfast, nice service, cheap for Kauai
French toast is excellent. coffee is good. love the grinds.
What a gem if a place. Great food and friendly people there..I love love the banana pancakes..yummy a grand they are!
Really good local place to eat
Good place to grab a LARGE bite to eat.. cheap...
We came here for breakfast in the morning and I'm so glad we did! It has a very home town restaurant feel to it, which is nice! It's not over the top but its comfortable. The Loco Moco I had was so good and my husband loved his breakfast as well! It's so fast to get seated and the service is on top with their time as well. They're very nice in there and they have a lot of options to choose from on their menu!
Dani's special is tasty. Service is efficient and friendly.
Tasty local food, Hawaiian style.
My wife and I had our first breakfast on the first day of our honeymoon in Kauai and it was the first sign that the food in Hawaii was unreal. Everything was served up fresh and had that lovely Hawaiian twist to it.
Small portions for the price, not impressed!
Nice small brunch, sound like veteran place :D
Good eats.
Great local spot. Huge portions. Reasonably priced. Delicious Loco Moco
Really recommend trying Loco Moco there.
Nice basic local place. Close to airport if you're heading in or out (we were leaving).
Excellent local cafeteria in Lihue. I had the delicious Seared Ahi Tuna and Fried Pork Lunch Combo for 12$. Highly suggest checking this place out once you are tired of paying 40$ a plate down near the water.
Great breakfast and affordable
Great as always our favorite place all local favorites to eat.
Great breakfast hole in the wall. Ask for the chili water. They were out of a few menu items but they make up for it with charm and typical diner service
Good loco Moco, large portion, yum!
The food is okay and the service is awful. It took 40 minutes to get our food after ordering and another 20 minutes to get the bill after we finished eating. We would never come back.
Laid back local restaurant. Good service.
Food was tasty and service was fast. I was also impressed by the mix of local foods (including some miso glazed fish that was delicious) with mainland diner breakfast foods (French toast was quite good). And they open at 5am -- made for a great early breakfast before starting our 7am kayaking trip.
Such a cute little restaurant!!!! Ate here 3 out of the 7 days we were there, we couldn't get enough of it! Was told about it by some very nice locals, the staff here was way nice! Good food, good priced, there is minimal parking though so go early :) Would definitely recommend this. Will definitely come back here when we go back to the beautiful Island.
Great reasonably priced breakfast.
Pancakes were delicious, especially the banana pancakes. Eggs & bacon were just ok.
Inexpensive brunch place with good Hawaiian food and where the locals come here to eat.
LOCAL style environment, food and price. Friendly easy going local owner and staff. Mostly locals, dress is casual and pidgin english is ever so evident. A contrast between touristy high price and local eating place. A must try place to island visitors.
Great breakfast place...great food, great service and very clean!
I was told this was ‘traditional’ Hawaiian food. Rice and gravy with everything! I just had basic omlette. Charming, warm, and good food.
Quick and delicious! Very reasonably priced. Very polite staff. Definitely recommend having cash.
I love this restaurant because it's old school and is genuinely a good mom and pop establishment. Don't miss these guys just because there's road work on Rice Street. They're open and awesome. I recomend the ahi steak plate, get it rare.
This place reminds me SO MUCH of my grandmother's kitchen. It probably hasn't changed much since the 80's. It's a cafeteria. Don't stroll in expecting a restaurant experience and you'll be fine. If you're kind and want to rub elbows with the locals, this is another place to go (the other being Mark's Place). In this cafe, you might literally rub elbows-- the tables might be full, and you might ask to take the end of a partially populated table. The food is absolutely solid. My spam was not cooked quite enough but other than that we had very nice meals here. Meals. We came back twice. The coffee is very good. You get a pitcher to yourself, along with instructions for use :) Service was GREAT. The ladies & bus people were friendly and businesslike. Go out of your way for the experience and a solid, cheap plate of good hawaiian food.
Very nice staff. Took our order promptly and served food quickly as well. The prices are cheaper than other breakfast places we have been to on the island, and the food is pretty good. Definitely a good value.
We have been coming to Islands for 20 years and Always look forward to coming here..
Open 6am until 1pm. I love it locals love it!
Good food. Reasonable price.
One of the more affordable places to eat on the island. Food was good.
Delicious breakfast! Kaluha pig is out of this world
Nice place to stop for a bite, from your average ham and eggs to something more Hawaiian. Service is always nice and pleasent. Parking is pretty good, l never had an issue.
Decent breakfast food, but an emphasis on eggs and pancakes. Some oatmeal would have been nice. Very local, but fun to see that scene.
The gravy you get with the pork was great. The service is quick and the prices are decent
Our favorite local restaurant in Lihue. Portion sizes were generous for your money. The Laulau is delicious!
Very very good!! Friendly staff and hot quality local food!
Awesome atmosphere and amazing fresh local offerings. A must every time we are on the island.
No nonsense local place with authentic Hawaiian cuisine...lots locals go here...good food good portions...
The breakfast is really good. Small mom and pops business with friendly staff and very tasteful food.
Our family's favorite restaurant on the island. This is real home cooking! Pineapple pancakes, daily specials, spam anything...yum!
Great local breakfast plates with amazing coffee! Only open for breakfast and lunch, but definitely worth getting up early for.
Great local spot! Go there for normal pricing breakfast instead of the $25 hotel bufets. The food is Great
REALLY packed with LEAN pork Lau Lau and a generous serving of poi.
A good breakfast spot. Friendly wait staff.Interesting menu.
Excellent, both food and service. Be prepared to pay cash. 3% upcharge for credit card.
Really cheap and delicious! I totally recommend it if you can't travel far from the airport.
Everything is delicious
Fantastic food, great local environment and family oriented. Very kind staff and meeting the family that owns the restaurant made the experience even better! Mahalo!
Good food and price.
I highly recommend going.... It's amazing .
Definitely a hole in the wall dinner. They had your average American and Hawaiian breakfast for a very reasonable price. If you want a filling breakfast on a budget this is the place. If you are looking for a fancy touristy breakfast then you may want to go elsewhere.
Good place to eat
Good food . Open early
Decent local fare, reasonably priced, not fancy.
Enjoyed the food and friendly service
A good place for brunch restaurant
Some of the best loco moco I've had here on the island! Service was quick. It's always a good thing when you walk in at 10a on a Friday and all the tables are almost full and there's still people pouring in. (That's the bacon cheeseburger loco moco - not picture: Portuguese sausage and pork patty - all of it was so ridiculous tasty) thanks for a great meal! (Also recommended to me by a local.)
Dani's has the most authentic local food I've had on the island. I recommend trying the lau lau.
Slow service. Food ok though.
Good home made breakfast location. Reasonable prices. Good service.
Definitely not fancy but gets the job done. Mostly locals in there the morning we visited. Pineapple short stack, eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and toast were cooked well. Fairly priced, $7.25 for eggs, toast, & bacon. And all the specials come with coffee.
[From the archives] Was seriously looking forward to this place as many of my legit, local friends highly recommended it. Was unfortunately disappointed. Corned beef hash tasted watery and straight out of the can. Hamburger steak was just ok. I want to give it another try though. Hopefully, it was just off that day.
Was expecting breakfast, but unfortunately they stop serving breakfast at 11(my fault). However, others after us walked out because they were wanting breakfast as well. Had the Loco Moco, wasn't bad but not a lot of flavor as others I have had on the island. Staff friendliness was fair.
The third generation of restaurant ownership! The best in home cooking always outlast the competition!
Great food good people
Great local spot...excellent food and service
The best.. have been coming here for years and recommend it to anyone.. always great to be in the family atmosphere
Best local food on Kauai! Awesome staff! Wish there was a Dani’s on Oahu! Will definitely be back again!
Breakfast is great
Good local food..
Always the First Stop when Landing in Lehue!
Great food and nice people
Hair in the food, the waiters are rude and give you attitude! They served us rice that wasnt edible and when we tried to tell them we needed something else like hashbrowns to go with the meal they said that they were done serving hash browns but the people behind us that came in later then us was served hashbrowns? Service was really bad!
Great Hawaiian home cooking.
Excellent local faire. Great place for breakfast. Great coffee.
Food is okay. Price moderate. Would come Again. Good service.
Sister Loves eating Here When She Visit From Oahu
tripe was great as u D usual and the chirizo patties special was awesome.
Friendly staff and great selection of food
Fast friendly service. Good food at good price. Combo plates yum.
Me and my wife went here because of all the good reviews, but our experience wasn’t the best. The service was very slow and the hostess didn’t come back after we had gotten our food. The restaurant has a cafeteria like feel to it which is not what I was expecting. I am not a coffee drinker but my wife said that the coffee was not good. We both got the bacon cheeseburger loco moco. It was an interesting variant of the classic loco moco with bacon and cheese. We have had a lot of loco mocos during our visit to Hawaii and didn’t particularly care for this one. I did like the bacon though. The lower rating is mostly for the environment and service.
Just barely made it on time before they close for the day. The eggs, rice and kalua was da bomb! It was so good I forgot to take a picture. I got the menu before the food came though.
The food was good and a decent price. It was nice to get good food without paying $15 a plate and higher
Fast service, out of hash browns that day, but rice was good
Cheap and easy breakfast food. The ladies working here are happy and it made us happy too. A good vibe and good food.
Reasonable portions and the New York State was a decent size in the steak and eggs
Expensive for what you get. Very basic nothing fancy
Homey environment with good atmosphere. Food was homestyle and tasty
Gross, broken bathroom, poor service.
Good honest food. No frills. My kind of place.
This is a small hole-in-the-wall with amazing food! The Hawaiian classics are served here, and are all awesome
Service without a smile. :( Unfriendly waitress who liked to drop the food and drinks on the table. Food had no presentation but was decent. Cafeteria style seat yourself with menus. Could be so much better if staff were friendly and smiled at all. We had such good things to say about Mark's place that I was confident about Dani's. Totally not worth it.
Perfect, no frills breakfast. Quick and friendly service. Will be going back.
French toast and pancakes were hard as a rock. Will never go here again.
Simple fare, delicious, with pleasant staff. The pulled pork with Poi and pic de gallo eaten island style with fingers was a delightful experience
A "down home" eatery with great food and a laid back atmosphere. The pancakes are excellent. A great place to start your day on the island.
Love their Breakfast all good.
Good traditional Hawaiian breakfast. Staff is friendly.
