REVIEWS OF Leopold's Ice Cream IN Georgia

Erin Buksbaum

The ice cream was delicious. We waited in line for about 30 minutes, but it moved fast. It's got an old school ice cream shop atmosphere with a touch of movie magic- we researched when we got there to find out that the current owner was a producer for some time and brought some of that Hollywood vibe to the shop. A little quirkiness to the parlour. We had the honey almond ice cream and banana and ...wow. We sampled a few flavors, all were so delicious. Free pitcher water too, which was a nice touch for an ice cream parlour.

Do yourself a favor and visit Leopold's! This place is delightful! The atmosphere is perfectly nostalgic; the staff even wear "old-timey" uniforms! There's a large selection of ice cream to choose from! They even boast a dog friendly sundae! We arrived on a Friday at 2pm and there was a line out the door but the staff work fast and efficiently to move the line as quick as possible!

Patricia Bradby

Cute ice cream parlor celebrating 100 years in business as of August 2019! There is a good reason this place has lasted so long. I loved the choices of flavors (including locally influenced ones like the Savannah Socialite and the Honey Almond and Cream). The ice cream itself is rich and smooth and the single scoop is quite generous. The oldies music playing inside the shop is a nice touch. Be ready to stand in line but you'll be glad you did.

Rev. Charles Mensah-Woode

Assorted varieties of ice cream. Very friendly staff and such a homely atmosphere. Shook hands with the owner. Such a welcoming feel. Will head there next time I'm in Savannah.

willy whisman

This placee as good as advertised. So many choices. We had a mocha and a peanut butter and lemon all good in their own. You have stop in they work quick to serve you up so you wont wait long and if you do well worth the wait.

Donny Nuckles

Hands down some of the best ice cream I have ever eaten. I enjoyed the flavor Savannah Socialite the most. If you are in Savannah you have to stop by. You will no be disappointed.

Jørn Ulrik Siegumfeldt

Fun place to visit. Good ice-cream but a bit slow service.

Syd Connors

This ice cream is the best around, but the lines are very long. The staff here is amazing and very kind and I enjoyed coming here before lunch when it was a shorter wait. I would definitely come back again but not for a longer than 30 minute wait.

Patrick Holmes

Great ice cream and service. The line outside may be long but moves along quickly. Yeah it costs a little more but that's expected on a vacation.

Savannah Clax

Love the old diner feel and the ice cream is simply fantastic. No trip to Savannah would be complete if you don't stop here!

John E Henderson

Oh my garsh, I can't believe I hadn't done the shot of espresso over a scoop of vanilla ice cream before. SOOO freaking good. Many satisfying flavors and don't fear the line they'll get to you promptly and politely. How did they pull this off before modern refrigeration? A delicious miracle my friends. YUM!

Joseph R. Dionne

Step back in time with this classic soda fountain ice cream shop. The classic vibe of this shop will leave visions of nostalgia from days pass. The ice cream of course was everything that we had hoped and come to expect. A must stop every visit to Savannah. Come early as the lines build up fast. We stopped in this trip at 12:20, by 1pm the line wrapped 50 or more people down the sidewalk. The staff is friendly and beyond helpful - allowing my 7 year old to try as many flavors as he needed to make this visit the perfect scoop.

Luis Bautista

Nice old style ice cream parlor without compromise on freshness and which proudly proclaim how they make each batch daily. It's a staple of the Savannah landscape. Word of caution: Service line gets extremely long during the high season, but it it worth every minute if your a Hollywood memorabilia aficionado and a true ice cream lover. If long line are not your fancy, go during the earlier hours, the weekdays, or in the evening since they stay open until late night. The ambiance at night around this part of Savannah is highly lively with the theaters, lights, parks, and the River Walk a short hop away.

ginnette Lawrence

I have has only 1 other ice cream even close to this good and that was at the Penn State Creamery. All the flavors must be tried, they are delicious.

Destinations Untold

The last few days I noticed a line down the street for Leopold's ice cream after doing a trolley tour and the guide saying was a must. I liked up in the hit sun and I wasn't disappointed. I had the Savannah Socialight very tasty on a hot day.

thomas wong

Looking for some sweet relief from the Savannah heat? The service is amazing there's always alone but the staff will offer customers in line water while you wait. The ice cream varieties can't all be covered here but the flavors we ordered were sweet, savory and refreshing. A must try!

Christy McKinley

The ice cream here was AMAZING! I loved the atmosphere also. It was extremely busy when I went but it also was a Saturday night so I figured it would be. It was definitely worth the wait.

PILAR WALKER

I was in Savannah and the line was extremely long all day. I rushed over to Leopold’s Ice Cream after a concert at about 10:30pm in hopes that I would beat a crowd. I was lucky to get in a line that was only about 10 minutes long. Shortly after, the line increased around the corner again. The ice cream was phenomenal, I recommend Tutti Frutti and Rum & Raisin. The staff was friendly and I would recommend to everyone I know.

Jonathan Yang

Everything is top notch! The lines are always long but they're worth the wait. They have an old school theme and the employees even where soda jerk hats along with dozens of posters of old school movies. They have a tried and true recipe for ice cream and are generous with the portions!

Chyia Lewis

A great place for a romantic ice cream date or a casual hangout with a group of friends! Leopold's is a great restaurant for lovers of the 40s-60s era with their jazz and swing music couple with small trinkets that reflect the times. The workers are very friendly and are always willing to work with you when trying flavors or accommodations with your ice cream. An amazing ice cream parlour. 10/10 would reccomend!

Kendall Baker

It was packed when we got there but the line moved fast and the servers were very nice. It had a lot of signed movie memorabilia which was neat to see. Ice cream was delish.

DMC Films

Delicious! We have it every time we visit the city and are never disappointed. And I’m very picky about my ice cream. It has to be worth the calories or I won’t bother.

Arlene Rouse

Now this is some of the best ice cream in Savannah. The have so many flavors and make new flavors. They also have food and thing that is good.

Anita C

Nice atmosphere and great ice cream! Chocolate chip cookie was awesome as well. Like the old school feel to it.

Christopher Aubrey

So tasty! Try to get there every time I go to the Lucas Theater. Highly Recommended

Aaron Mowery

Great little place. Excellent seating & nice to have free cups of ice water available! Selection is great & taste didn't disappoint - very good ice cream. Highly recommend!

Sunil Mehta

Awesome and a must visit place in Savannah. When I first heard about this place, I thought what can be so great about ice cream, but I kid you not. This ice cream is off the charts. These guys know what they are doing. The best.

Kelly Anderson

Good ice cream. Quick service and friendly staff.

Dawn Schrum

The ice cream was smooth and creamy but I was a little disappointed that the peach only had an essence of peach. Not a strong flavor and no chunks. I recommend getting a sample of what you want. After waiting in line for a long time, I expected better.

Mark Butler

Although it's a "tourist thing" - I'm a big fan of this place. An old style ice cream / soda shop...the ice cream is very good (they make it themselves) and I especially like the malts. There will be a line, but don't be put off by it...it moves quickly.

Vlad Z

I'm not big on ice cream but this place really blew me away. There's s reason there a 20-30 minute line out the door most times. The ice cream is absolutely delicious and unique. I loved the strawberry the most but the lemon custard and the Georgia butter pecan were great too. There was another 20 or so flavors to try. Make it a point to stop in here or at least at the airport.

Aaron Boyle

Overall: Good ice cream, very busy, fair to good service, outdoor seating, tourist locale. Worth a visit with the understanding you're paying for the name and presentation, as well as the ice cream. Based on the hype, I expected a line out the door and around the block for the world's (or Georgia's) best ice cream. This place has history, it has good ice cream, and the service is quick. With outdoor seating, it's hard to go wrong! I found it comparable to many local creameries in cost and quality, but hyped to visiting tourists and college families.

Hallie Thurman

Fantastic food, staff and atmosphere. A little loud when it's full and it can get busy, but its amazing. The Broccoli cheddar soup was fantastic as were all the ice creams. A definite must-do if you're in Savannah.

Matthew Trey

Great selection, nice clean shop with plenty of indoor and limited outdoor seating. Friendly employees and great ice cream. There is no soft serve ice cream.

Tim Whitney

Cool old school ice cream parlor. Complete with juke box! Really good ice cream and employees were very friendly and helpful. Let us try different flavors with real spoons! Would definitely recommend checking it out

Bama Girl

Was very good!! We got the coffee chocolate chip and also tasted the lemon custard and peach which were both VERY VERY good! Would highly recommend all 3

Nesha S

Very good ice cream, professional staff, they did mess up my order 1st time I went but did give me a extra scoop of the correct ice cream to make up for it. Came back before leaving on my last day in Savannah!

Ali Reynolds

If you want to get in there you MUST arrive at least a half hour before they open. The line forms fast and often goes around the corner. Yes! The ice cream is that good.

Chad Gregg

The wait was worth it. We have been by here several times but didn't want to wait in line. The libe moves pretty quickly. I personally had the banana ice cream. It tasted real close to homemade like we do back home.

Janel Carlile

Amazing as always! Best ice cream in the world and always worth the wait! Congratulations on 100 years Leopold's! A must stop when in Savannah!

Aaron Clasby

The ice cream was crazy awesome. The employees were a delight and very helpful. Handed out water while waiting in line. The line was long, but not excessive took about 20 minutes to get inside to order, but we'll worth it. If the line goes around the block, it could be 35-45 minutes..

Erica Jones-Ishman

A must when coming to Savannah. I had chocolate/raspberry ice cream and it was so good. Plus the customer service is amazing.

Ange v

Managed to catch this place in the early afternoon of a mondau before a line formed. Honestly maybe its the flavor i got (honey almond) but i feel like its all a hype. The ice cream wasnt all that good. Id prefer the ice cream at the candy store more.

LaShawn Ward

There is usually a long line, but it moves fast. The ice cream was amazing and it was very reasonably priced.

Jonathan Warren

Great classic soda shop ambiance and the ice cream was fantastic! They're generous southern scoops, be prepared for a lot of ice cream!

Patrick Montenora

Definitely worth the visit. Great story about its history. The ice cream is delicious. Try the honey almond cream if your looking for something different.

Dave galottis

One of the best ice creams ive ever had. And i eat a lot of ice cream. Wasn't cheap but would definetly go back

Ryan Day

Leopold's lives up to the hype! Congratulations on your 100 years in business. We completely understand where you get your longevity from, with our last visit. Kind staff and management. Serving guests water in line outside of the shop making sure that everyone stayed hydrated. Amazing ice cream! Not a clean face in sight! We will return! Best wishes on 100 more years!

Jason Ward

Great ice cream! Some of the best I've ever had! I had a single scoop of the Savannah Socialite flavor and it was chocolate ice cream and pecan goodness on a waffle cone. Yummy!

Kelly Ryan

This place was amazing!! It was packed, but totally worth the wait! They also provided us with water as we waited outside. They had many flavors and combination options. They were delicious!

Rich Clarke

Love this place. Ice cream is good and the ambiance and staff are friendly. My wife got me catered Leopold's for our wedding rehearsal dinner many years ago. That's how much I like it. Moved away from the coast now but whenever I am back I always go to Leopold's

Bryan Herbst

A must visit in Savannah. The ice cream is definitely one of three best I've had! After trying the seasonal rose petal flavor (which was also delicious), I ended up with a cone of honey almond cream, which used local honey. I was worried it would be too sweet, but it stuck an excellent balance of honey flavor and I enjoyed every bit of it. I will certainly be returning the next time I'm in Savannah!

Pamela Buie

The ice cream was delish (try the lemon custard-yum), but I was surprised to find all the fun movie memorabilia inside! Had no idea!

Ezra Boekweg

We visited from out of town and heard the hype so tried Leopolds. Cool atmosphere and friendly staff. After a long wait just mediocre ice cream. We tried a banana split, root beer float and single scoop cone. Save yourself the time and go up the street to Ben& Jerry’s. Better ice cream and no wait.

michelle Dabney

Well, really it wasn't that good, I have had much better ice cream at Covenant Virginia. And they got my order wrong they didn't give me what I ordered

Lyndi Stoddard

When in Savannah, you must get ice cream at Leopold's! Always a line but worth it! The server came out and served ice water a few times and we were only in line for 20 minutes. My husband and I both got two scoops. Between the two of is. We got pralines and cream, caramel, dark chocolate. All of them were amazing! I couldn't even finish it because there was so much ice cream. Can't wait to go back!

Nicholas Kvalheim

The ice cream was very good and is perfect for a hot day in Savannah. I got their seasonal "Rose Petal" flavor and it had a perfect light rose flavor. The line for Leopold's can get a little long though, so be prepared to wait up to half an hour! We visited on a hot day and the restaurant staff was kind enough to bring everyone in line a cup of ice cold water!

The Yoga Chick

Well worth the wait. Reasonable prices. We waited in line for about 30 minutes. When we got to the front, the staff was super nice and professional. Although the restaurant has so much charm from the last, we were very impressed with the vegan options. The vanilla vegan ice cream was delicious and it was made from coconut cream. The strawberry ice cream was also good. My husband enjoyed both the lemon custard ice cream and the corn chowder soup. Although they were crowded, the tables turned over quickly and our party of 7 was able to sit together. Apparently we beat the rush because when we were leaving, the line had doubled in size. I highly recommend and would love to go back and try the butter pecan.

John Lippert

Worth the wait. Don't play it safe and pick your favorite flavor, try the original ones. They are awesome!

Janelle Smith

Absolutely AMAZING ice cream!! If you're ever in Savannah, you can't miss this!! It's all made fresh and local and they have a large selection of flavors. And you can sample as many as you'd like! Trust me, it's worth the wait.. as the lines can be long sometimes. Don't let that deter you! Highly recommend!!

Born From War

Arrived around 4pm, the line was just barely to the door, moved very quickly, there were at least 6 or 7 soda jerks efficiently providing service so the wait almost didn’t seem long enough. Even if the line would have taken longer the decor and atmosphere make you feel as though you need more time to take it all in. It’s really more of a museum than just an ice cream parlor, so it feels more like an attraction than waiting in a queue. We tried banana (my favorite), rum bisque (very good), butter pecan, honey almond & cream , and caramel swirl (very good), as well as limeade float with strawberry lemonade sorbet (outstanding) If I lived closer this would be a regular visit for sure. If you do visit Savannah, I would say make sure to not miss this one. Something to be said for a business that’s been around for 100 years.

shelby nicholson

The Ice cream is bloody delicious !! Service is great the only downside is there is a big line all the time. It does move quickly but you do have to stand in the sun for part of it

Terry Crookes

Excellent ice cream. Good value. Movie based deco inside. Plenty of room to sit. Lines get long at times.

Raymond Ojeda

This the best ice cream you may ever get in this area. We were there to celebrate their 100th anniversary. Great people.

Tiffany Benjamin

We came back many times during our stay in Savannah. This ice cream has to be better than I have had at farm fresh creameries, and their flavors are different and creative. If you are in the historic district you have to stop by here.

Samira Tahtawi

I am glad I walked from my hotel to this historic sweet spot. I was SO pleasantly surprised to see that they have VEGAN ice cream. I am not vegan, however, dairy makes it hard for me to enjoy myself to the fullest. Their vegan ice creams are made w/ Coconut cream. I got the Vegan Mocha. Creamy, not too sweet, and heavenly. The world around me disappeared for a bit while I dug into this creamy, mochalicious manna. God bless the folks at Leopold's. The line was long and a kind employee handed out ice water to the people standing outside waiting to get in. Very thoughtful. They also have seasonal vegan flavors. Mocha happened to be the one for April. They were out of the Coconut. Vanilla and Strawberry were the other options.

J Wayne Collingsworth

Fun place. The line moves fairly quickly. Generous portions. Delicious flavors. You'll see both locals and tourists here. Great historical background.

Deborah Konack

Delish. All flavors a true ice cream shop. Expect a huge line, will move quick. Worth the line.

Dave Berry

Iconic ice cream shop with the old time 1919 decor and impressive movie memorabilia of those who have visited. Great service. Awesome ice cream. You have to go here !!

Woody Zorn

This is a must visit in Savannah. The strawberry is an original recipe, and it is to die for. We tried a couple of fall flavors. I loved the pumpkin spice, and my wife indulged in the cinnamon. Make sure you stop by.

Allison W

I visited Savannah for the weekend and was told that this was an experience I should not miss. Great atmosphere! I loved it! The ice cream was fantastic! It’s creamy and fresh. I highly recommend tasting their homemade ice cream before leaving Savannah!!

Robert Kluge

Ice cream was good. Normal selection. Rated a 4 because we Waited and hour and when got in they only had 3 people serving. Wouldn’t wait that long again but would go back if I could walk right in. Owners are supper cool !!

Kimmy Hammond

This place was exceptional! One of the best ice cream places I've been to in years. Service and selection great. Long line, but well worth the wait. Highly recommend. Wish I could give it 10 stars!

Mariana Schnell

This place it's outstanding. Classic icecream parlor with great flavours. In a hot day the sorbets are not to be dismissed, specially lime mint.

eS Be

The coffee chocolate chip and Peach ice cream are to die for. The ice cream itself is super creamy, the chunks of peaches are the perfect size, and the number of chocolate chips are not overpowering. I look forward to visiting every time we come to savannah

Amanda Harley

Wonderful ice cream. There's always a line unless you go earlier in the day, but the staff was great. They handed out water while you waited in line and were incredibly friendly and efficient when you got to the counter. The inside was clean and we loved the decor.

Ebony Gorum

Homemade and delicious!! The line was long but it moved quickly. They even handed out water to the people standing in line

Ross Kennedy

Just one of those places that you don't want to miss if you're in Savannah. Owned by a hollywood producer, it has some really cool movie collectibles and items to look at but the ice cream is unbelievably good too. The line moves quickly so don't be intimidated if it's out the door.

Kaitlin Slattery

Always busy- which is a great indicator it is worth the wait. I love this little Savannah staple despite it being overwhelmed with tourists on a regular basis. My favorite flavors are the Honey Almond or the Pistachio, but honestly I really haven't had any bad options here.

Melissa Catalanotto

Waited in line for about an hour because so many people told me it was worth the wait. The ice cream was among the best I've ever had! I don't know if I would wait in such a long line again for it, but I will definitely return here if I am ever in Savannah again.

Vicki Hays

Sweet ice cream parlor with a interesting history.. very delicious.. great selection on cone or bowlful.

Lakshman Siruvolu

Never waited in a line for an Ice cream. They have a real good varieties and you can try them before choosing one. There special Savannah socialite was good. There was a waiter serving water to the people standing in line and answering their questions. He looked so tired but was answering all the questions patiently. Overall, the Ice cream was good.

Brice Willson

Leopold's is a Savannah staple, old fashion soda shop/ice cream parlor. We were told we had to go. Went late on a Sunday evening, which bonus, they stay open later! A line out the door, but it moved quickly as we paroosed the menu. Great dessert choices at a reasonable price. Fast, friendly service with the workers dressed in soda jerk style. Quite a cool collection of movie memorabilia as over of the owners is a movie producer. Will go back if in Savannah again. A must stop if you are visiting or a local.

Helen Nichols

Ice cream is delicious. Was a line and an employee provided a menu and ice water for those of us waiting in line. Above and beyond.

David&Susan Stewart

Don't let the line deter you. Service is fast, friendly, and efficient. I had an old fashioned ice cream soda. Delicious!

Kimmy Stardust

Excellent local joint with a 50s vibe. Don't let the long line fool you as it moves quickly. We tried their May seasonal Cherry Blossom flavor; light and airy, super delicious! Don't be afraid to ask for samples if you aren't sure but keep it short for the others in line.

Kalyn N

The best ice cream I've ever had. Went on a Monday, so the wait wasn't bad at all. Nice vibe and friendly staff.

Michael Matthews

Very delicious, thick & rich ice cream that is well worth the wait (line was out the door). While waiting in line I read up on the history of Leopold's as it was originally founded 100 years ago. Definitely it is worth a stop while in Savannah. There was even a couple wearing wedding attire in line in front of us as seen in the photo!

Debi O'Brien

Busy place, but service is quick. The ice cream is divine and the establishment great. The staff is outstanding. Definitely go to if you are in Savannah!

Tom Ciuba

Nice atmosphere. But the peach special flavor was REALLY disappointing. Didn't really taste like anything. My fault, I guess, since I didn't ask for a sample, but the lady in back of me was so impatient that I didn't feel like dealing with her if I had asked for samples and held up the line.

Nancy Caudle

It's good... But from the lines there were I had a feeling it would be magical, but I know now that it's mostly popular because of its age and it's anchorage to the community. Still glad we went

Mabel Hom

Overcrowded,. Hard to find a seat ,& ice cream was good but not exceptional. Very nice that s server came around with water for people standing outside on line. The weather was a HOT

Masha Jones

Um...you can't come to Savannah and not have this local signature place. I'm sure you have seen the long lines but WAIT! It's worth it. So good! Great staff. Great flavors. Late hours...And movie posters. You won't know why unless you go!

Grim Reaper

Good icecream but long line and and I don't feel as if the price reflects the product. More or less just paying for a name on a building. Nothing you can't get anywhere else at a lower price in my opinion.

Beth-Ann Young

Rarely get that true mom and pop vibe anywhere. But there they were, mom and pop, handing out ice water, menus, and giant friendly smiles. The ice cream is out of this world!

Amin Karim

It’s one of the best ice cream parlors I’ve ever been to. My wife and I waited for around 30 minutes in line but it was WELL WORTH IT! Amazing flavors and staff make the entire experience blissful.

Daniel Fieldstone

My gosh my golly was there a LONG LINE in front of this place on a busy street. This place was BUMPING. You could hardly find a seat. The service here was so up beat and helpful considering how big the rush was. The ice cream was also good as well. Thank you.

Becca Freeman

We were lucky and visited at a time when the lines weren't too long! It was cool to visit a historic place and one that has been in many films. The ice cream was great and they had tons of flavors. I had the German Chocolate Cake flavor which was different and very good! While you're standing in line, they even give you ice water while you wait.

Mary Jolley

The ice cream is delicious! Worth the wait/price to at least try once. I had the Savannah Socialite (chocolate ice cream, bourbon caramel, and pecans), and my husband tried the mint chocolate chip. Both were divine! Just FYI, we got there 20 min before closing and there was a line well out the door. The servers were quick and we got our ice cream in about 10 minutes, but if you are going there you may want to plan to wait in line.

Greg McDonald

Came in on the must-try list from my foodie friend who never fails. Line was out the door, but moved quickly thanks to the fast and friendly staff. Shop is really charming and there is enough seating between inside and out. The ice cream is excellent. I would inject 'Savannah Socialite' directly into my veins if it were possible. Butter pecan and chocolate chip were great as well.

John Ford Milton

One of the rare gems in a city like Savannah that is both a huge tourist trap but at the same time a beloved local institution. Sure there is a long line a lot of the time, but it is because the ice cream is exceptional. Leopold's is not only historic in the city, but an active participant in the fabric of Savannah's food culture. You can find Leopold's ice cream served at some of the best restaurants around town, and they frequently show up to pop-up events with their little cart. The service is generally pleasant, though at the store it can be problematic sometimes simply because of the volume of people. My picks are always Savannah Socialite and the Lemon Custard, but everything I've tried has been delicious. To sum up, Leopold's is worth the wait in line. If you are going to get Ice Cream in Savannah, get it from Leopold's.

Aman Singh

If you are in or around Savannah, this a must go place for ice cream lovers worldwide!! We absolutely love the tutti-frutti flavor and took two pints all the way to Tampa (550 miles) with a special planning! Ha ha!

Joshua Schmidt

The ice cream was phenomenal. Loved their traditional banana split.

Matias Cabeza

I love Leopold's! Their ice cream is so good and their prices match the quality of their foods. I have never had any of their cafe foods, but I am sure that they are quite good as well.

Jeff T

My favorite thing here is the ice cream sandwiches. They throw a scoop of vanilla between two fresh full sized cookies. Must visit if in Savannah. Don't miss out! Great selection of delicious ice cream.

Zac Laven

Like they say long line but it moves quickly. Owner was a movie producer and the store is full of movie memorabilia. Icecream is good but maybe just the best in Savannah? It didn't blow me away. Great experience for a night with family and/or friends.

Brad C

I'd like to say thank Nina FOR BEING AWESOME!!!! Thank you so much for checking for a certain flavor, thinking it wasn't in stock, finding it stashed away, calling me back, telling me, and scooping a few pints up just for me. Thank you, Nina!!!!

Michael Herron

Please don't let the long lines fool you. This place is worth the wait. They move the line with such speed you barely realize you are in a line. Maybe some governments could take a cue from these guys. The ice cream is amazing and worth it. If you get a chance to look around there are some awesome movie memorabilia and stories behind it. I can't wait to go back

Andrea Fain

The ice cream was good but I really didn't see what all the hype was about. It tasted like ice cream... Nothing special. The decorations were pretty cool... Old time phone booth and movie camera

Brad Goddard

A must stop attraction for foodies. Their vanilla ice cream recipe is amazing and it's the base to so many flavors.

Connie Wills

Definitely a must visit when visiting Savannah. 3 generations family ice cream parlor with a movie set vibe. The wall of Fame is fun to look at. The ice cream is made on site, so fresh and creamy. Only reason not 5 stars is that 2 of the ice cream servers were more interested in their conversation then the customer.

J. Maharaj

I was good ice-cream but not worth the hour+ wait. I don't regret trying it because of all the hype but it was a big let down due to the long wait. While it was an exciting experience full of anticipation, I definitely won't wait that long again to have it and... I've had better!

Judy Hanson

The kids love it here! All kinds of ice cream flavor and great friendly staff

Dan Pariseau

Long line but well worth the wait. Employees came out and offered cold water. The sundae and coffee malted shake spectacular.

Michelle Schnurr

Authentic ice cream parlor that's been around for decades and lives up to the hype - the quality of their ice cream is top notch. Expect a long line most days of the week, but it's worth the wait. Servers thoughtfully provide free water for those in the queue on hot days. Only small drawback is that their hours can be unpredictable.

Kelsey Lehrmann

So cute worth the wait had kids cup of October's German chocolate ice cream & the eggs salad sandwich (Soo good)

N.Y. Childress

It’s okay to try I guess, since its long history. Staffs are nice and have a good ordering system. We ordered two flavors and couple days later I can’t remember what did we order, even by looking at the picture... Some lemon, some chocolate I guess. We usually remember the food we ordered even years later when it’s really great

Jonathan Baggett

Simply the BEST ice cream you will ever eat. Worth the wait in line!

Ellie Martin

Insanely long line, but that’s what you can expect for such a famous ice cream place. Good customer service, but the ice cream was nothing too special. It was good, but way to overpriced and hyped up for just a normal scoop of ice cream. But if you are looking to get a sense of Savannah’s downtown life, grab a scoop. What was really sweet was that one of the employees starting giving cups of water to people on the line to make sure we were hydrated since it was a bit warm outside that day.

Tavia Perez

It was busy, as expected. But service was fast! With the line being out the door we had our yummy treats in less than 5 minutes. Ice cream was delicious and services was great. I also like that they offer free water. So many dessert shops make you pay for bottled water. You wont be disappointed and it wont take long so stop in and treat yourself.

Andrew Sisson

Its a very good ice cream place with a rich history. Worth trying if you are visiting Savannah, but be ready for the lines. Because of its setup it can be a little confusing as to who is trying to take your order or if they are still helping someone else with picking out a flavor. Also, they served water as we waited, and i couldn't tell if the gentleman would was pouring it was like annoyed that there was so many people waiting or if it was some sort of like act that he was putting on. It was a little goofy and somewhat entertaining, but it still felt like it was a bother he had to go pour water because people were waiting in a long line, kind of turned off the charm of the old time ice cream bar.

Leopold's Ice Cream is located in Savannah, GA. It's a staple of the city and could be considered a national landmark in its own right. It's been almost for about a century now. The interior has a very classic look. Now you may not be able to see the interior right away as there tends to be a long line out the door especially if it's a hot sunny day during the summer. The menu has a lot of different and interesting flavors. You have your classics of course like a banana split or a root beer float. They offer you a cup or a cone. You can also get toppings as well to add to the flavor. The ice cream is sweet and savory. There are so many flavors to choose from. I wish I could have tried them all. I ended up getting the Honey Almond and Cream which was inspired by SCAD. Anyways, this is an ice cream parlor, so I'm keeping it short and sweet. If you're in Savannah visiting and just passing through, you definitely need to check out Leopold's Ice Cream.

There are many delicious ice cream choices. There is always a long line. It does move quickly but be prepared for a wait, even if it is pouring rain! Also, the wait to talk to someone on the phone is also long There are neat nostalgic movie posters and old filmmaking equipment as well as a jukebox and vintage soda machine. The soda jerks make for a fun experience when they yake your order. They do have dairy-free/vegan options. Some sorbet as well as at least one coconut-based ice cream. We called ahead to ask if they can make a vegan milkshake. They said they could. When we arrived, they said they could use a vegan ice cream flavor but milk (cow's milk) would still be used. Sigh.

The ice cream at Leopold's is fantastic. We actually stood in line for 45 minutes to purchase our ice cream. The place is large and they had a number of people working behind the counter...the ice cream is just that good. There are many tourists, as well as locals, all waiting in line to order. Everyone was friendly and it was a party atmosphere. I got the butter pecan in a cone. It was thick, rich and full of pecans. My husband got a scoop of strawberry and dark chocolate in a cup. He said it was delicious. I would wait in line again if in the area.

This ice cream shop had been open since 1919! Still serving some of their original flavors, they have also come up with newer ones such as honey almond ice cream made with locally sourced honey. Inspired by the Savannah College of Art and Design, this one was a hit with us. The wait is long... 30 minutes in line just to get in the door. While I think other ice crams are just as good, Leopold's are inventive and I like supporting local. Seasonal flavors included lavender and Japanese cherry blossom

Joe Rhinelander

There's a good reason the line sometimes goes around the block, and it's worth the wait. A place lined by locals and tourists alike. No trip to Savannah is complete unless you stop by Leopold's.

Bunie B.

Well when we went, there was a decent size line... But it moved pretty quickly, and their ice cream was pretty freakin tasty! You should probably stop in if you're in the area... Might be sorry if ya don't

zuth alron

Long line but it is to be expected. Honestly the ice cream isn't like some amazing thing but it's pretty good and you can at least have bragging rights after you get it and your friends have it. Fairly expensive but I'm a poor boy so maybe it's just an average price. Anyways overall not bad place and they did give us free water.

Renee Haarmeyer

The ice cream was really creamy...and they had lots of flavors. And you can sample flavors before choosing. Also had a nice pimento sandwich with fresh carrots that was good. Lines get really long...

Meredith Floyd

An awesome Savannah ice cream experience! They allowed you to try whatever you wanted which was helpful because there were lots of unique flavors that I haven't heard of before. The ice cream was creamy and thick and some of the best I have ever had. The decor and the history of the place just made it that much more special. A definite must if you are in the area.

Daniel Geoghgan

Oh for crying out loud. It's good locally made ice cream (i love ice cream), but it's not That good! Ha. Lines around the corner? It's a wonderfully cute shop, super sweet friendly staff, all dressed in 50s era outfits.

Alison Rusine

I literally have nothing bad to say about Leopold’s. It’s rare that an establishment lives up to its hype, but Leopold’s is as good as everyone says. They have the best ice cream I’ve ever had (SUPER creamy), and the staff is very friendly. The line moves quickly, even when stretching down the block. An absolute must-visit for Savannah. Everything we’ve tried here is delicious. They also give a nice military discount. I can’t recommend this place enough... I’m not even the biggest ice cream fan, but Leopold’s has turned me into a regular.

Amy Harper

I had a delicious, freshly made Leopold Club Salad (most sandwiches can be made into salads) and some of the best ice cream (I chose a scoop of coconut and a scoop of butter pecan) I've ever had. Service was friendly, and one employee, named Rebecca, served cold water and brought menus out to people waiting in the line, which was at least as long as we expected. The line moved fairly quickly, though. We're glad we went to Leopold's, and would definitely go again if we ever return to Savannah.

Tyler Roberts

The charm of an old school ice cream parlor with the old and new school flavors as well. Went outside of my normal ice cream box and find myself craving more. Don't let the line outside the door scare you off. It moves quick!

Shanita Walters

This is the best ice cream I've had in quite some time! The line seemed long (it stopped at the door) when we arrived at around noon on a Saturday. We waited about 5 minutes to be served so they move pretty quickly. We took a trolley tour around Savannah at around 5pm and when we passed Leopold's, the line was all the way down the sidewalk. So I guess timing is everything. But either way, I guarantee it's worth the wait.

Laura Reper

Quality ice cream... Tastes fresh. Simple and unique flavors. We had Savannah socialite, butter pecan, chocolate, birthday cake and home almond cream - everyone loved their choices. Long line, but worth it!

Diana Deckman

I waited in line for 30 min, in the heat, to try ice cream that could've easily been mistaken for a Wendy's Frosty. I tried their 3 original flavors. I cannot figure out why this place is so long-standing. I adore ice cream. This lacked depth of flavor. I discarded my ice cream into the trash receptacle.

Tierra Boddie

The line was around the corner! When you have little toddlers it can be a bit much. But some of the flavors are worth the wait. The atmosphere is inviting and upbeat! I will only go back on a slow day which it never is.

Yash Shah

Amazing place more than 100 years old! I would love to go there again:) lemon custard ice cream is heavenly.

Serena Morgan

Delicious ice cream that’s worth the wait. While there’s usually a line because of the store’s popularity, the staff are efficient and it moves quickly. We ordered Honey Almond & Cream as well as a hot fudge sundae, and both were phenomenal. We’ll definitely be going back, and I highly recommend checking it out!

Andrew Johnson

This place is awesome. It's like stepping back in time. The Ice cream is amazing, the staff is awesome, and the building itself is beautiful

Jordan Roper

This is a must if you've never tried it before. Hands down the best ice cream you will ever eat. The long lines are definitely worth it!

Sam M

Best Ice Cream, Ever. Hands Down. Been going here since I moved to GA! 8 years later and this is still my family's go-to spot any time we hit downtown. We always take visiting family members here and they always panic because of "the line" but we reassure them it's totally worth it

Mark McGraw

Don't let the lines scare you away. It is well worth the wait, and it does move quickly thanks to the awesome staff.

William Kirk

100 years of continual operation speaks largely for itself. From the old-fashioned design to the classic outfits for the employees, this place really is the embodiment of an “establishment.” For a lactose-intolerant customer like me, the vegan mocha ice cream is wonderful. There will be a line, and in the heat of July, it’s not an easy wait. They come through with ice water and cups however, really showing they understand what it means to visit a popular shop in the Deep South. Docking a star for the service. While overall fine, the approach was a bit too comfortable, like an “aren’t you so lucky to be here” sort of feeling. And of course it wasn’t fast, but that’s the speed of the south and didn’t bother me - comes with the turf.

Liz Atchison

Some really good ice cream...the line at 8:30pm was pretty short...worth the trip

Charles Lawley

Great ice cream, heard it was one of the best in the world so we had to try it. Some of the flavors we tried were certainly up there. Line was long but it moved swiftly. Great selection and service was excellent.

Jessica Baker

The staff was amazing and the ice cream was an awesome treat on a sweltering day! If you haven't been, definitely make a point to stop in. I enjoyed looking at all the movie memorabilia, too.

Quincy Harrison

I had the butter pecan ice cream double scoop with a waffle cone. Very tasty and you get so much ice cream!

Roger Cloud

Absolutely splendid, Best Ice Cream in the World. A must when visiting Savannah. Alabama’s Paul Bear Bryant’s ice cream favorite... surprisingly low prices for such good ice cream. Highly Recommend the Peanut Butter flavor.

Eric Biederman

Went on a Sunday at dinner time, and there was no line! Walked right up to the counter and got served right away. Nice variety of flavors and rich, creamy ice cream. Worth the hype and will definitely get the cookie sandwich next time

Nathan Alter

Long wait, but worth it. Friendly staff and neat atmosphere. Unique ice cream flavors as well.

James Andrew

Totally worth the line out of the door. The staff was nice enough to offer water to the patron in line. The lemon custard is so classic. Great flavor. The story and the vibe make it a must see for anyone with a sweet tooth. The prices are pretty good too.

Matthew Kim

The lines for this place can get really long, so plan accordingly. If I had to wait on a long line, my experience may have differed. I had the chocolate ice cream and my daughter had strawberry, both of which were delicious. The chocolate had a creaminess to it that made it taste that much better. I have to say that my wife was looking forward to coming here the most and was quite disappointed. She had the coffee chocolate chip and felt it wasn't anything special. I tasted it too and have to agree. I'd still recommend a visit here, just find a time when the line isn't as long and choose your flavor wisely...

Edward W. Hood

The gold standard in ice cream parlors. This is a must visit if you are in Savannah. I recommend the peach ice cream.

Yolanda Bustillo

This was our first time visiting Leopold's and we'd definitely come back. We ordered the Savannah Socialite, a mix of milk and dark chocolate ice creams with pecans and bourbon infused caramel, and Rum Bisque, rum ice cream with almond macaroons. I thought the Savannah Socialite was the perfect richness for a walk while the rum bisque was a little on the lighter side. The single scoop is pretty hefty, so we felt pretty satisfied with the single scoop. Their waffle cones were fresh, but not overly sweet, It seems like you can't go wrong with any of their ice cream flavors. I'll try to swing by again before leaving Savannah!

White Dove

Well I was hoping to win that free ice cream for my children for a whole year but we didn't win that but I always tried to go to Leopold's at least Every payday.. which for me is every other week but my favorite ice cream there is lemon custard it's smooth and absolutely delicious it's not overpowered by a lemon flavor but if you like that lemon taste this is what you definitely should go for. I am a local of course so I can get it anytime I want but the downside is they are always crowded. I personally think the best time to go is on a Sunday when the lines aren't so long and as early as you can think of it probably right after you have lunch. I have to admit Leopold's is always crowded a lot of the tourist want to go there so us locals have a hard time with that.,but we do get in the wait is not long at all it just gets a little overwhelming when it's extremely hot outside. The upside to this is that they will give you some ice cold water to drink outside so you don't melt.. Leopold's Ice Cream is the best ice cream in town. Now you know I have to tell the truth and the whole truth nothing but the truth it is pricey I am a family of five and usually it's just 4 of us that goes and I easily spend $20 in there and that is a lot for ice cream when you're on a budget especially when your having Financial struggles, so just prepare. I don't know your family size but prepare accordingly because it could get even more pricey.

LeeAnne Quattropani

Not too sure I've ever had I've cream this good. Super creamy and not sickly sweet. I had a scoop of chocolate and mint chocolate chip. Delicious and worth the wait. Can't wait to go back and try other flavors.
