This restaurant was a disappointment- especially since it’s right underneath the building of our hotel. Came here at 5AM drunk with my friends to order some breakfast, and the omelette I received was watery- definitely not cooked enough. The “hash browns” they give you on the side were basically cubed French fries. They didn’t have any flavor to them. The waitress was very nice to us and tried to accommodate us as best as she could.

I liked the atmosphere love the scenery but i didn't like my drink. Everyone else drink was good and pretty. Mine was very sweet. I ordered a strawberry daiquiri. I also ordered some wings for everyone and they were cooked very hard. The wheather was nice and sunny. Folks were just doing they thing. The waitresses was nice but she didn't really check on us. She was busy talking.......the restrooms were clean.

This was our first time in South Beach visiting from NC so we went to try this spot out. I love it! We were seated outside and so you enjoy the scenery and overall Miami vibe while being out in the strip. Our waiter, Cliff, was spectacular and the food was very solid! The News Burger is great and their tacos are so so good! This is definitely a good spot if you want to experience that South Beach vibe while having some good food. Keep in mind, this isn't cheap, but certainly worth it.

My worst experience of a restaurant in a long long time. We were greeted by the waiter roughly 10-15mins after sitting down to discuss drink options. The waiter asked my partner first and she was happy to drink water, yet never asked what I would like. Then after ask for a bottled beer and a draft beer being brought out maybe after being sat down for 30 mins at this point. We then ordered food which took roughly an hour to arrive at the table. I ordered a chicken stir fry served with rice. When it finally arrived there was no chicken within the dish. Having it sent back meant watching my girlfriend eat her meal and then for her to watch me eat mine. After this i received a “complimentary” beer for the inconvenience of our food. When it came to the bill I was then charged for my second beer and the waiter wasn’t helpful with adjusting the bill. All in all, it was a real shame about our experience. The place looks lovely but I have to admit the service was below average and the food just not up to scratch.

Ricardo the server was absolutely amazing we were here watching the filming of bad boys 3 and he was able to answer all my allergy questions about the menu he was swift and kind very charismatic everything you expect to see when vacation ing in a hot spot of Miami the cook was a great guy and all around loved and suggest the experience I'll be eating here my whole week stay he was able to properly proportion and split the checks and we tipped well due to his humble and good nature. This morning me and the group came back for breakfast and we had a terrible server named Irina she was slow did not have responses to questions could not hear the order well and we asked her after a 40 minute wait for our leaving check if she could split the bill and she lazily exclaimed that she could not do that and that she usually would not split checks I let them know we were here at pearl hours of flow last night and that Ricardo was great and did so for us as well as that I do ratings and reviews for all places visited and that this would reflect on her poor performance and nature of her ability to manage task completion Thanks again I'll be back when Ricardo is working for the evening shifts .

Came here around 5 AM, I ordered English muffin with eggs, turkey sausage, breakfast potatoes. One helper assisting the waitress told me he would bring out my turkey sausage and never came back with it... The breakfast potatoes were TRASH. The waitress was nice but this place definitely left a bad taste.

Decent service, good location. We were a family of four with two small kids. The staff was very friendly. The burgers and pizza were fine - we should have been more precise regarding the water as we got very expensive Iceland Glacier Water. Besides this small bumb everything was fine - the staff was kind of strange but friendly as well. All in all good 4 out of 5.

My husband ate a red snapper dish that was out of this world here. Then, we came back another night and sat at the bar upstairs. It is a little worn out in appearance but the bartender on staff was fantastic!! She made the best mojito I had all week in South Beach! Definitely check this place when you come to Miami Beach!

I came here for breakfast and was surprised to see the silverware was extremely dirty. I told the server and she said she could bring a cup of hot water to dip the dirty utensils in or she would charge us $1 each for plastic utensils. This is ridiculous, I’m from Miami and I never seen this before. Do better :(

So, they promise 20% off and 2 for 1 Drinks to get you eat hear and sit down. But when your checks( bill) come, they say it’s one or another. Your waiter says one thing and they hostess guy says another. Then after heated argument, they decide to give you 20% off to make you feel small. Basically, they promise one thing and do another. Ceviche fish is terribly dry. Fried calamari is ok. Beer was warm.

Many waiters walking around could none would get water keep saying not my table 20 mins later; we get water. Ordered food took 30 mins for waffles and a fruit bowl. Asked when our food would be coming no answer other than kitchen is busy. It was off season; it was 10 am the place was not busy. Terrible. This restaurant regardless of service charges a 20% service charge. They don’t tell you that other than fine print at the bottom of the menu. When the credit card slip comes it has a TIP line. Just terrible not a good experience.

Solid place for a nice breakfast on Ocean Dr. My wife and I had a romantic sunrise walk on the beach with our lovely goldendoodle Luna. Afterwards the hunger kicks in and what better place that News Caffe’(BTW is open 24HRS). I had and american breakfast everything cooked perfectly and delicious, my wife a healthy omelette also very good and they were so kind to accommodate our Luna with some water and cooked something small for her. The place is great!

It was SO good. I had the omelet meal(with potatoes and bread). My friend had a bowl of fruit. The food, view and atmosphere were amazing. The only caveat with this area is tip(service charge), resort fees, etc. Are added to your bill.

Ate here last night 2/8/19 with a friend. We got sat rather quickly, given it was starting to get busy everywhere. We ordered our drinks and food. Both were good but what really made the experience worth making a review was our server Blake. He was attentive while juggling other tables. We never felt "hounded" but he was on top of it! I hate waiting for a server to return or when part of an order isn't right. Blake was entertaining and just sweet. So often I see waitstaff that just look unhappy to be there. Kudos to Blake for being that extra added something that made a good time, great.

This place is finished! I've been going here for 2 years after being referred by someone that has been going there for many more. Loved the place and made it a staple. Was there late night 2 weeks ago, service was awful. Red flag. But I went back this morning. Food and coffee tasted awful. And ridiculously overpriced. I wont be returning and you should stay away.

We had the breakfast special on Sunday. Two eggs, choice of meat, diced potatoes, a slice of toast and coffee or tea. It was good. Priced at $13 each plate. There was nothing amazing about a breakfast you can make at home. Service was a little slow considering there were not that many people.

One of the last great people watching places on Ocean Drive! The food here is pretty good, and the outdoor dining patio is absolutely the best place to be on a Friday or Saturday night to people-watch. As with all South Beach tourist spots along Ocean Drive, the parking is absolutely positively unavailable! You're better off just driving on some of the side streets and taking the first parking space you can find, and then walk to this location.

Iconic cafe and my second visit having been recommended by concierge at Fontainebleau. Best burger not over priced and excellent service and food quality. Blake was very attentive and pleasant and made us feel very welcome. We came late afternoon so wasn’t busy but definitely a great spot to enjoy a lazy late lunch. Thanks guys. Will be back!

My favorite part beside the 24hour open breakfast menu is the amazing service from the funniest Latin man there. He entertained all of his guest and did his best to satisfy his guest. Servers were friendly and attentive and explained the specials and deals for the afternoon. Issues started when the drinks came out. 3 of our 4 drinks weren't drinkable. We actually saw another woman stand up and leave after getting her drink, so we could tell this wasn't a one off thing. The food was kind of average (undercooked rice, overcooked beans). The saving grace was that the steak was at least good. Was blindsided when the bill came by "service fees" among other things. When we asked if that was the tip our server kind of mumbled and guilted us into putting an additional tip on top of it. Tl;Dr the food was just okay, not worth the money, and they sneak extra money into your bill without telling you up front. Not worth going.

Slow, and that's the only thing negative about the experience! Slow service, at lunchtime, and we were in a bit of a rush. Otherwise, the food was great. My friends ordered an omelet, two eggs + bacon and I ordered the red snapper Creole. I had no idea what I was ordering and I was pleasantly surprised. The Snapper was in a clear broth with onions red peppers green peppers and maybe some other vegetable that I forgot about. Everything was served piping hot and it came with a side dish of rice. Don't look for special offers here, which about every other restaurant on Ocean Drive tries to tempt you with. This place is hip, and it knows it doesn't have to offer any specials to attract a steady crowd. Come here to see and be seen, enjoy the foot traffic on the sidewalk and the delicious food.

The grandma the took care of us was horrible and extremely rude, she cannot be a waitress where you have to take care of multiple tables at the same time, and I never got to know her name because she never introduced herself and she was only polite when I was about to pay! The customer service was horrible, waitress did not come to check on us or ask if we wanted anything else too drink. I finally asked aother staff member to assist us, and he did. SOOOOOO disappointed and outraged!!! Do NOT waste your time or money. Went here many years ago and it was a blast. NOT ANYMORE. The food is awful frozen garbage, the service is nonexistent, and the charge a $20 "service charge" without telling you. DO NOT GO! And make sure if you go to any restaurant on Ocean Drive if they have that bogus charge. You've been warned...

Awful restaurant. Terrible service and the food was awful, $35 for orange juice, salmon Benedict and a croissant that were all gas station quality. Orange juice is from concentrate, hash browns are obviously just frozen french fries chopped up, our party of 3 ordered smoked salmon Benedict, crab cake Benedict and a croissant. The food took twenty minutes to get the salmon, another fifteen to get the croissant, and then fifteen minutes after that they told me that they are out of crab cakes. The customer next to us waited twenty minutes to order and had to complain to get her order taken, then they got it wrong anyway. At least they took 20% off for the waste of time. Avoid this place.

This was one of my favorite restaurant in the world. I was told there are new owners and it seems like they do not care. They give you a bill that has a 20% service charge and they tell you gratuity is "not included". A lot of the recent reviews seem to be negative. All of the older ones seem to be positive. It seems that things are going downhill at the news Cafe. (And fast) This proves my theory that South Beach is a Sunny Place with Shady People. The food was mediocre at best. When I asked the waiter, he told me the 20% fee was for the staff and not him. With that being said. There is a possibility the waiter is trying to scam us. I don't have a problem with a 20% service charge but I do have a problem when the waiter says he gets none of it. He says it's for the other employees. I asked him if he would also like me to pay the rent, the electric bill and the other employees behind the scenes. This used to be a great restaurant, it's a shame it's not anymore. Should I have paid 20% gratuity on top of the 20% service charge ? P.S. The waiter was very convincing about his low pay. He actually showed me the amount of his direct deposit from the restaurant. I hope they are not scamming all of the tourists that go to the restaurant with the additional 20% nonsense. Shame on you if you are !

Really? A 45 minute wait for our food after we ordered. Other tables received their food before us despite coming after us. The salmon omelette was super salty. They didn’t have oatmeal and no grape jelly. They didn’t refill our drinks once. The place is not clean which I had plenty of time to notice considering our food took so long. Oh yeah, the prices are ridiculously high and the 20% service charge on the receipt is not the waiter’s tip. I’m done!

Ordered pancakes and did not bring syrup, had to ask 2 different people for it and it took another 10 minutes.The food was barely warm. The servings were small and very expensive. I know Miami Beach is expensive but for 3 breakfast and 3 juices $87 is ridiculous, especially when the food and service were not good.

Dont know how to say please, sorry ... for example he took salt from our table and didnt say "sorry" or "excuse me" so so disappointed at service!!!! Had brunch here on 1st. This place is huge. We had a awesome location on the outside. The food was good - I had veggie burger with sweet fries and my wife had french toast. We enjoyed our meal. The only issue was the the wait time. Took around 30 mins , I do have to mention that the place was crowded. Apparently they put the wrong cheese on my burger , hence they got delayed since they had to make another one - that's the reason the waiter gave. I dont believe it . I think they forgot my order or something. In any case the waiter gave us a discount on the order, which was nice of her. Overall I was happy with my meal .

If I could give a zero to this restaurant I would. I was in Miami for vacation a week ago and came to this restaurant to have dinner, but the experience was by far one of the worst I have ever had. 1. We ordered small drinks, but instead got the bigger ones because according to the server they did not serve small ones, even though they were offered them in the menu. We also saw other people having small drinks and not the big ones that the server MADE us have. I guess the server was just trying to make his money of the night. But wow!! What a way to take advantage and money from tourists. 2. The server never brought eating utensils, we had to ask another person for that. 3. We never saw the server again not to get refills in drinks nor to take the plates out of the way after we were done eating. My friends and I ended up putting the plates in another table instead. But we did saw him talking to other servers instead. 4. When we asked for split checks, the server said he could only divide that tab in four even ways. Also, I could tell the server got annoyed by the request. When we checked the tab we were charged a $40 service fee. Service fee??? There was no service from the waiter and they still dare to charge for a service. You can go to a fast food restaurant and by FAR get better customer service. I have worked in a restaurant as a server myself and I can tell you the waiter, which I can’t recall his name, but that he was Venezuelan, deserved not even the $40 service fee he put in the bill. And if that is the way this place makes business, let me tell you that is just plain wrong. Forcing people to consume what they didn’t ask for and giving bad customer service is not the way to go. Please people do yourselves a favor and do not stop in this place. You’ll be saving your time and money. And please, please do not reply by “I’m sorry! This is not how we do business,” because by reading other posts it’s very obvious you people don’t care, don’t want to fix the problem, and are not worried about what people have to say.

This place serves quite ordinary so-so breakfast. We visited this place as it was the only place that was open within reasonable walking distance serving breakfast when we stayed in Miami Beach when all five of us woke up jet lagged at around 4 AM. Even though American coffee usually is terribly weak and tasteless, at this place I could barely make out any coffee taste whatsoever and the food itself, especially the fried potatoes I had, was not what I expected and were most likely made from ready-made frozen, or worse, canned potatoes. The bacon was crisp, but seemed deep-fried rather than fried on the griddle and the eggs required a lot of salt and pepper to have any taste whatsoever. The kids did enjoy their waffles with lots of syrup though so it wasn't all bad. Price is rather expensive, but still what you can expect in this city and the staff was friendly. The best thing however was the location at this time. We stayed until sunrise and the view and relative calm was a good contrast to an otherwise busy and noisy Miami Beach.

News Cafe is definitely a great place to watch the human zoo walking by that is Ocean Drive (casual, no hawkers trying to wave you in, and a few different levels from which to observe goings on) but what shocked me was the food. I had steak tacos. Not what I think of as diner food. And they were really, really good! And not overpriced at all, at $16. Now I know why this place is an institution of South Beach.

PLEASE do not waste your time and money at this place. Staff could not care less with 18% gratuity automatically applied to your cheque the staff have ZERO incentive to make any effort what so ever. The food was shockingly bad. Cold poached eggs toasted bread which was was still floppy. Dry potato fries had clearly been sitting around and to top it all off this place was expensive. I don’t even believe we were just unlucky and we caught them on a bad day. AVOID

I love this place. Every time I go to South Beach I have to ear here. They're open 24/7 and the people watching is great. They're not slam packed so you'll easily be seated. I usually eat at the bar. The prices are reasonable - far more reasonable than the other restaurants on Ocean Drive.

Arrived at Miami today after a long day of driving was looking forward to good food and was very disappointed we sat for over 10 minutes with no one acknowledging us until we were going to walk out. We ordered pancakes and a waffle which didn’t take so long however my friends waffle was not cooked all the way and my pancake was still frozen. My partners pancakes were cold served with cold butter it was a terrible experience the one thing I will say is the waiter was nice enough to take the food back and apologetic. I do not recommend at all.

3 stars only because of the flawless ambiance. The food is a totally different thing.. I can set aside having to dig the gnat corpse out of my cappuccino, its alfresco after all. But, you can't put whatever you want in parentheses and whimsically make it your own. Eggs Benedict is served with Hollandaise. Eggs Blanchard has Bechamel, I don't know what you call it with unseasoned alfredo sauce. So, I tried again and ordered the continental breakfast. "Assorted pastries" is not two dinner rolls and a croissant covered with powdered sugar. I'm pretty sure we can all agree on that? 30 years is a long time and you have a beautiful place.. I suppose that's all that matters.

Went for brunch and just an overall bad experience. We waited about 20 minutes just for drinks and almost an hour for our food. A drink was spilled all over me and little effort was put into cleaning it up or remedying the situation besides bringing some napkins. In the time we waited for our food, the waiter checked on us twice, did not refill our waters or come back with requested refills of other drinks. When the food finally came out, there were mistakes with the orders, the poached eggs were over cooked, the fried and scrambled eggs were undercooked, the potatoes were flavorless, and the fruit was bad. When we complained to the waiter (when he finally came back 20 minutes after we got our food) he said there was nothing he can do because some of the food was eaten. We talked to the manager who was responsive and took 2 meals off of our bill. But then the waiter came back and argued with us saying he did nothing wrong and we shouldn’t have told the manager that he wasn’t checking on our table.

Your cafe holds some beautiful memories. My daughter was recently in Miami and I told her she must go to the News Cafe, she told me you have removed the books and newspapers, what a disappointment! When my food arrived, the waiter asked me to pay right away because age was sent home. 20%tip was automatically included in the bill. So I payed before even having a chance to taste the food and service quality. The food was fast and good, but my table was not visited once after this. Not for refill drinks, cleaning empty plate, asking for coffee or dessert. The staff was outside but ignoring my table because I had allready payed (not by choice). Terrible service.

We visited the restaurant at night and had a bad experience with the service and the food. I ordered 2 eggs any style. The waiter was pushing me that I was making a better deal if I ordered the Special breakfast which was close to double the price of the 2 eggs any style. This Special Breakfast came with meat and I am a vegetarian. The plate I ordered was unfornutalely cold when it arrived but I was very hungry and did not tell the waiter about this. My friend ordered a quesadilla but we just never recieved her plate eventhough she reminded the waiter twice. The restaurant was not busy at all at that time. When we asked to have our bills and our quesadilla to go and for free the manager came to see us and gave us a discount of 25% on top of our bill which already included a gratuity for the service of 20%. Ironic. My friend never had her food and we had a discount which was almost all absorbed by the restaurant's service fee. Very bad service and no appologies. I do not recommend this restaurant at all.
