This Coffee Shop belongs to the category of American restaurant.
First visit, no expectations. Our meals were fabulous. Chef Earl cooks lamb to perfection and the crab stuffed flounder was excellent. Attentive and personable staff. Highly recommend dinner.
Don't order the roasted beet and fresh orange spinach salad-unless you ask first about the beets and oranges. What I received was canned beets and canned Mandarin oranges in my salad. Otherwise it was good. My husband had fried grouper sandwich and he said it was good. The place was trendy and clean.
Great food. Great service
Gave them a second chance -- chili wasn't served hot and asked for a little cheese on it and got a ton of cheese. Last visit was a Reuben and very chewy and not very good.
Beayold restaurant with good food.
Very nice place Great Food and Service.
New Castle city center is a hidden gem, and cafe New Castle is right in the heart of the old City. The food was excellent, service warm and friendly, and the atmosphere warm and inviting. Coffee is perfect, but next time might try the extensive cocktail menu.
Great help ,clean place and nice outside eating
Opened last fall as Mrs. Snyder's. The name has changed to New Castle Cafe. A small place with a casual, friendly atmosphere and good quality food in a quaint historic town.
Great brunch options! Filet minion Benedict and stuffed strawberry French toast were delicious. Raspberry scones were banging! Very modern, clean interior with a classic colonial exterior.
Everything was great!
Great Food! Great Service!
Delicious food and relaxing atmosphere, just a tad overpriced.
Nice place.. good food. Great drinks. I'm looking forward to going back.
Thank you Moran!!
Best place in town !!
The food was delicious and the service was great, but it was a little pricey!
Very limited menu. Food was ok but service was very slow. I wouldn't recommend this place.
Great place to eat
Had friends visiting over the past weekend and was delighted to stumble upon this cafe! The staff were relaxed and fun to talk to, the food was incredible, and the atmosphere was picture perfect. A true gem!
Love this place! I get the omelets. Their sausage is maple flavoured and delicious. Very filling. Staff is very sweet.
Food is great, service is good
We had friends coming from out of town, and decided to try out the new restaurant, but we didn't have high expectations. We were surprised and delighted by our experience at Cafe New Castle. The service was superior from beginning to end. The cocktails were both clever and delicious. Dinner itself was sophisticated simplicity, extraordinarily well conceived, prepared and presented. Well done, Cafe New Castle! We will be back soon!
Omelet was good, hollandaise on the Benedict was tasteless. Bloody Mary was good, server forgot the OJ. Nice atmosphere, decor, and good menu.
This place was great. I'll be back for sure. Possibly even today for brunch!
Very nice, cute and relaxed. Great place to sit outside on a summer day or night
Nice place for coffee and breakfast. Staff is friendly and efficient
Great place for a meal in New Castle. Lovely garden.
Reservations don't mean anything to these folks. Never coming back
Quaint. We had a 6:30 reservation and they were out of 2 or 3 items they had on the menu. I can see that happening if it were 9 at night. But 6:30 is a bit early to run out of menu items. Our second time there. Still going to give it another go.
Food is excellent and staff are friendly and attentive. Good quality coffee and ingredients, would recommend at any time of day.
Original colonial bldg, well prepared menu. Fun experience.
Our party of four, fortunately likes to share, so we were all able to experience 4 different delicious menu items on our visit. Everything was fresh and tasty! Great ambiance in the dinning hall. The outside seating looked nice as well, but we sat in the breezeway, nice and bright from all the skylights. Our server, Leif, rounded out our experience; he is knowledgeable about the menu, where the products come from, and the history of the building - and a great deal of other interesting things! Leif, congratulations on getting your degree, but I don't wish you so much success that you won't stay on for at least one shift a week!
We heard the food was good and it was excellent, I had the Grouper and shrimp and I haven’t had such a good meal in a long time at a restaurant. Ernie and Ashley were were pleasant and efficient and we liked the atmosphere. I would recommend this restaurant you won’t be disappointed. We will be back.
Beautiful, newer, Cafe in town. Great food, great locally owned and run place. Had a wonderful relaxing breakfast/brunch. We will return for dinner!
Good coffee, nice patio, really nice atmosphere. Good selection of beer and wine and food. Friendly employees.
Great Reuben and Grilled cheese sandwiches
Great little place, the food was awesome, the service was quick and pleasant. One small issue was that there was live music dirong sunday brunch that was a little too loud for comfort, luckily there were only 2 songs left when we arrived but otherwise it was a great meal all around.
Great food and atmosphere, but sometimes a bit of a wait. It's no problem if the company is good.
Fabulous Cafe with great food and great service. A definite "must visit" when in Old New Castle.
Good food but a very long wait.....30+ minutes for a deli sandwich..
Absolutley a great atmosphere , great food and coffee , an incredibly nice staff..!!! Would reccomend this establishment to anyone.
Excellent coffee shop with a great brunch and reasonably priced. Large open area with both indoor and outdoor seating. A nice walk up counter for Togo orders or tables to sit and relax. Craft beer as well as wine also available.
Outstanding menu. Very creative dishes, beautifully presented and prepared. Great service and friendly staff.
Meal was delicious! Service was prompt, friendly and courteous from start to finish. Atmosphere is cozy.
Excellent food!
Great brunch for certain... but that's the only meal I have eaten here.
Sorry I didn't take pics, but wow it was delicious. It's a small, trendy place in historic New Castle with an outside eating area (as well) in the back. At our table we had turkey chili, cheese ravioli in an Alfredo sauce (forgot the dish name), and crab cakes. Excellent! For dessert my daughter picked oatmeal cookies that they served warm with a dollop of homemade whipped cream. The service is friendly. I'll go again. Edit-the pics posted are from my second visit, which includes the ravioli, which the chef happily prepared my request to include crab meat. Delicious.
Great outdoor patio... Food is delicious. Service a bit slow.
Poor and slow service. 3 wait staff walked past me several times over 10 minutes and never stopped to ask for our orders. I finally had to get up and ask who is our waitress and their response: we miscommunicated. Food is average at best. When I asked for bottle water I was asked are you sure you want bottled water or are you fine with the water you have? If I asked for bottled water I want bottled water. Very disappointed in this restaurant, not sure how it has 4 stars.
Good food and good service. Nice cozy place.
Always a pleasure dining here. The food are cooked to perfection and the prices are just OK. I’ve been to here several times and I highly recommend making a reservation!
Food was delicious. Loved the ambience. Very nice staff. Will definitely visit again.
Clean and service pleasant...unhurried...overall very nice.
I've been a couple of times, once for lunch and once for a light dinner. The lunch was pretty good. The dinner was not so much and quite overpriced. The salad was mostly wilted and the crab cake was weak and unimpressive.
A very appealing restaurant, great people place, good food in a home town est.
Loved this quaint Cafe and look forward to writing a blog review. #DelawareBlogger @DelBlogger
Me shipmate and I enjoyed a fine dining experience at Cafe Newcastle. The establishment provides a light and airy atmosphere, very good service, and excellent and then usual food and drink. My sailing buddy and I could not resist the interesting cocktails. He ordered the tropical storm, a variation on the piña colada. I went for something a little more unusual, the Shanghai Pear, made with pear vodka, sake, and white cranberry, with the deep blue and purple orchid afloat in the glass. I also couldn't resist trying the Mad Hatter, a mix of gin, cucumber syrup, pickle juice, and dry vermouth. I enjoyed the broiled snapper, which was accompanied by rice, steamed baby carrots, and a white sauce with shrimp. Unfortunately, the volume of sauce overpowered the fish. My friend ordered the herb encrusted lamb with pesto, green beans, and "sweet pea orzo," although that must be a brand name because there were no peas or pea-like products in the orzo. and the less we enjoyed our meal, the service, and the atmosphere. We recommended the place to a shipmate who lives in town.
Love the food and the atmosphere. Really good coffee. Only negative is trying to.find parking in Old New Castle
Unfortunately the old saying is true you can't judge a book by it's cover the front fits right in with historic old new castle but it is not anything but a hipster joint wasn't impressed the food was ok almost as if an after thought they did spend a lot of time on the look but it just feels out of place you are in old new castle bring in the history.
Good food
Everything we've ate here has been so delicious. The cook is excellent!
This place has the best atmosphere, service, coffee, and food of anyplace I've been in Delaware.... Right around the corner and i should kick myself for waiting so damned long to try it. The crab omelette is the best I've ever had and at what i would consider a reasonable price
Great little place. Awesome food. Very nice folks.
Pleasant little place. Sandwich was good. Just enough without making one feel stuffed.
Slow service and small portions and over priced, would not go again.
Great place, great food, great service
Staff is unorganized and the wait is pretty long. The atmosphere is great though. So not expect to come here for a quick breakfast.
This is a lovely cafe. When I came in around 2 , there was just 1 couple seated who had already been taken care of. 2 people saw me come in yet it took a while to be waited on. They were out of the coleslaw so I ordered the portabella with fries. He comes back and says they are out of the portobello. At that point I just ordered a bowl of chili. The waiter brought me a glass of ice water but never asked if I wanted a drink. At this point I was done with this. He never asked if the food was ok or if i needed anything else. He spent most of his time talking with the couple. I left him a $2 tip for the $5 chili and left. I'm going to stick with jessop tavern when i am in town. The chili was good.
Very quaint. Friendly staff
Fantastic food!
Nice place yet a bit disorganized.
Good poached pear salad and turkey chili. Nice airy atmosphere. Friendly and informative staff. Good breakfast, brunch, and lunch spot in historic New Castle.
Came highly recommended from a trustworthy source and didn't disappoint! We sat at a 4 top in the beautifully skylight lit breezeway. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our brunch meals. I had the 414 sandwich - absolutely wonderful. My mates had the fillet Benedict, blueberry French toast, and the Monte Cristo. We all had to share due to how good everything was! The ambiance was on par for a frenchie cafe. And the best part, our server, Leif. Had great stories on the history of the building, life, and the menu options!
Beautiful and classic. Great coffee and desserts. Love the ambience and the service. Nice and courteous staff.
Have not eaten here in over a year and will not eat here again. When I'm in this area I'm not visiting this restaurant.
I came to Cafe New Castle for a quick bite w/ my friend, and the food was great! Service was phenomenal, and the staff is extremely friendly. 10/10 recommend!
Bad service
Great food and service. I have been looking for a close place for a higher end breakfast without going into wilmington and I found it. Give it a try when you are walking around old new castle. I enjoy their healthy Greek omelette or eggs. Benedict
The food was unusually high in price and the quality definitely did not match said price!
What a transformation this place has gone through and now has a beautiful new bar to go with it with happy hour prices! Lovely staff and even lovelier manager Erin. Food is delicious and wonderful and cooked to perfection. Dont forget their dog friendly patio in the summer!
Despite being short on staff today, everyone was super sweet and working really hard.
Fantastic Nail work and great customer service!
Came in during the 4th of July weekend and it was completely empty except us. I asked if they had ice cream - the wait staff said not enough for a scoop and then ended up bringing us a bowl of ice cream on the house. Lucky us!
I love breakfast here it's my go to on weekends! They also serve lunch and dinner and have a nice selection of wine and beer! The atmosphere is welcoming and laidback! Take your date and have a glass of wine!
Bike parking, nice brunch options, local flavor
Great breakfast! Will return for dinner soon!
Cafe New Castle has a quaint atmosphere. I loved the blueberry french toast and my New Castle omelette was great. We tried the 414 omelette as well which included lump crab meat but we excluded the artichoke . The staff was very friendly. We will visit again.
No disabled access except in summer when you can access garden from the rear. Excellent salads, pleasent surroundings.
This place is fantastic. A perfect fit for old newcastle. I am so very excited to have stumbled upon it. I feel at home and its the first time Ive been here.
I love coming here with my Girlfriend. Its relaxing, the staff is extremely nice, and the food is amazing. If you're ever in the area, this is a must go.
Nice environment but pricy
Cozy place, great back patio (weather permitting), food was delicious, and location was great, just a few blocks from the water. Service was very friendly, I'll definitely go back. Close to local college too!
Great coffee, great staff, awesome breakfast.
Love this place. Good drinks, good food, good atmosphere
Great place for just about everything--coffee, baked goods, lunch, happy hour, wings--in a beautiful cafe setting. Excellent outdoor seating.
Great coffee, and staff was remarkably helpful
Love this place for either a nice little sit down meal or a grab and go. We've stopped in several times and each time the food is delicious (highly recommend the veggie eggs Benedict) and the coffee on par hot or iced. Service is always friendly as well.
Everything was perfect! Definitely going back
Waffles were excellent, light and airy. They ran out of any of their Benedicts (which are supposed to be amazing), but the Reuben is fantastic and I had a bloody Mary which was delicious.
This place is adorable! Clean and they were very attentive to my dietary needs! A little pricey!
Delicious crab cakes!
Nice place relaxed atmosphere
When entering the place looks really nice and cozy but it's very pricey and under staff. We waited 45+ min just for 3 bagels and they were $10 each! We were shocked when we saw that the receipt for our breakfast was $50 just for 2 drinks and 3 bagels! Needless to say we will not be going back.
Wow! Great coffee, great service, great food. We stopped by expecting to grab a cup of coffee and ended up ordering brunch (they serve breakfast, brunch, and lunch depending on time of day. Aesthetics are beautiful. Atmosphere ❤️. Highly recommend this spot for anyone heading to Old New Castle!
This was our first time at Mrs Snyder's. It is a small place and quite busy when we were there. The food was very good and the owner gave us a pastry due to the time we had to wait due to how busy they were. I would try it out again.
