Nothing I can say here will ever come as close as actually experiencing the increadible excellence that this restaurant provides. They are masters of breakfast. Portions are huge and wonderful and delicious! Yes, this place is busy but they are very efficient. Staff is warm and friendly and spot on to freshen your cup of coffee. Love that they take your order without pen and paper. I had read an article on this place and needed to check it out. I was not disappointed and will return!!

Was recently introduced to this lovely little place a few months ago by a co-worker who's been eating here for years... food is incredible! Prices are VERY reasonable for the amount of food you get and the staff is wonderful! Highly, highly recommended. Since I've been introduced, been meeting up with my co-worker and my cousin every Sunday for breakfast and I travel from Naugatuck.

State Street Cafe might spur me to change how I rate restaurants. I'd give them six stars if possible. Great, professional service without being over the top, everything was right the first time, and a very American atmosphere. I got the avocado omelette. And it was the best omelette I've ever had. Avocado was perfectly ripe, tomatoes were juicy, cheese added a complementary flavor, and bacon brought it all home. Home fries on point too, crispy but not burnt. Definitely go here.

Food is just amazing. When they get busy, the reception staff (Christy) gets Snippy. She can’t provide an approximate wait time. Perhaps a change of attitude is in order and they need use their POSales technology to figure out the wait time. Would be nice if they offered coffee while you waited.

This is yet another place I have driven by for years and never noticed. Now I don't know how long they have been in this current form? Either which way glad we stopped here for lunch! Choices were plenty, they don't make it easy to decide! Well after a few seconds, it seemed like, I guess we were ready to order. Opting to go last, so I can make a rushed decision, I went for the fish fillet melt on sourdough. I did sub avocado instead of tomato. Just as quickly as we ordered the food had arrived. I'm not sure what kind of impression I gave as I ordered but I guess it was noticed. This memoir was huge! I've never had a fish melt this big. I thought for sure I would have to take half of this sandwich home. After everyone else finished their meals, in like two bites, no one seemed to be in a hurry so I pushed on, determined to finish this sandwich. Eventually I had to deconstruct the sandwich, grab a fork and leave the bread behind. Reaching a point I thought I did a good job I retired the fork to the plate, indicating I submit. This not going unnoticed by others, they quickly decided it was time to go. I do think I rushed that meal. That i should have gone with my first thought and taken it home. Then i could take even more time and truly enjoyed finishing that sandwich.... As for the staff, they were great! Friendly and very welcoming, quick to take care of you and just attentive enough. Hopefully this will be on the schedule again after another job? Or any day for that matter.

So first off the meal I ordered was dry and did not even look appealing my friend next to me clearly specified what he wanted and emphasized the meal on the menu twice for the waitress and the waitress came back with the wrong meal I was there for about 45 the waitress didn’t even ask how we were or how the food was or even bother to fill up our waters not even once I finished my water before I got my meal I couldn’t even get water with my meal service was god awful and everything else was just terrible workers are disrespectful for arguing with my friend about how she messed up the order but then after tried to redeem herself for it overall awful service will never go there again although it’s in the town I live in Also took our food before we were even done we were served at different times the waitress had a horrible attitude I’m disgusted sooooo disgusted I took the time to write this I hope everyone that lives in north haven sees this

The food here is great and reasonably priced. On the specials menu, $4.99 will get you two eggs, home fries, toast, and coffee. Definitely worth the trip. Also, the fact that this place is always bustling is a testament to the fast service and quality food.

The food is always good lot of taste and flavor but it sure takes a long time to get it I don't quite understand why it takes so long to cook a 3-minute breakfast on a grill & you get it in 30 minutes but other than that the service is great atmosphere is great food just takes too long to get from the back to the front

The food is great, when they get it right...which is barely ever. Maybe it's to dissuade customers from ordering out, but very rarely have I gotten a correct order my first attempt. it's even been so bad to the point where the person taking my order told me they didn't have a a menu item that was specifically on their online menu. TL;DR, if you're gonna eat here, eat in. don't order out.

We came by for a late Saturday brunch. It was pretty crowded but we didn't have a long wait (10 minutes maybe). I got some cinnamon roll pancakes, which were incredibly sweet but quite good. The more plain pancakes at the bottom of the stack were okay. I also got sausage and tried a bite of egg, which were pretty good. Solid breakfast option.

We had a group of 9 today from 3 different states and they seated us very quickly. Our server was extremely friendly, fast and accommodating. We had many different requests and all were met with no problems. The coffee was good and water with cups were waiting for us at the tables. I am vegan and they were happy to make me something (delicious). We all enjoyed our breakfast and service. Thank you to all of the staff for a great visit!! You all truly know what good service is. Yass yass yass! I wish to God I could have a place like this near my home... because oh my God it was such good food. This is not your typical diner food.. this is gourmet food in a diner setting. I have a waffle, sausage, home fries, and coffee. My coworker had cream of wheat with the works! They gave him a side of fresh fruit (kiwi, black berries, blue berries, strawberries, etc.), Cinnamon, sugar, and more! Excuse me while I wipe the slobber off my lip as I finish writing this.... plus the staff was top notch.

Don't bother with this place. It'll take you forever to get a table; if you have a large party or kids it'll take even longer. You'll have to sit in what's basically a closet outside the cafe while you wait. You'll be serially harassed if you decide to wait in the warm restaurant by the staff and you'll be pushed out into the cold. The service is TERRIBLE (one more time... TERRIBLE) and you'll be lucky to get what you ordered while it's still hot. I have no idea why this place is so popular, its certainly not warranted. Go somewhere else. =(
