Lovely place to be in! Whether you're visiting NL or a local. I would recommend coming here! Clean and friendly environment, with a deck out back with a gorgeous view as well. The food was delicious!!! I had this seasonal herb chicken with pesto, mozzarella cheese, spinach and Sweet peppers. I can't wait to have it again.

Melrose Johnson

Beautiful Ambiance with frendly staff. The music in the cafe is soulful and soothing. An outside seating area with couches and board games. A gem!

Edmond Baker

Family owned, rustic, tranquil. A few things that come to mind when I think about Muddy Waters. Susan is the sweetest human ever! They also have the most delicious croissants. Sausage, egg and cheese on a croissant, double egg. That right there solves most of my day to day problems.

Richard Ohrnberger

Family run, convenient and efficient. Good food and coffee with a hipster vibe.

Sarah Lovely

Beautiful atmosphere, can't beat the outside deck on a nice day, watching the trains and boats with a delicious cup of coffee and a great breakfast sandwich. Great place and clearly a popular local gathering place. Would recommend highly.

Vicki Long

Love this place, been going for years! Nice outdoor deck.

A Hoyt

Adorable coffee shop with numerous spaces to lounge, outdoor seating, and games to play. I only wish I could have spent more time there, but this place is popular and can get crowded. Try the iced coffee!

Christopher Ganymedias

My go-to stop before the ferry and the Amtrak, the sandwiches, baked goods, and coffee have always been great, and everyone's always been friendly. It gets cramped, but for good reason. Hip interior that pays tribute to the street's history.

Colleen Sullivan

Perfect local cozy coffee shop! Very friendly and attentive staff. Breakfast sandwiches were delicious. Although we didn't have their soups, would love to go back just to try them.

Ron Samul

Great food, good service. Try the Love Salad.

Carl Leaman

Fun breakfast and lunch place in a funky setting. Warm weather sit on the outside porch and watch all the water activity and trains stopping at New London station. Tomato soup and clam chowder were terrific the day we were there. Nice to find a good spot to ear in downtown New London.

Mary Dolan

Muddy Waters' tomato soup is incredible! The cafe is really cozy and is a great place to meet with friends for breakfast or lunch. They have a back porch which is really nice to sit on during the summer.

Hands down my favorite coffee shop in the state. The choices of hot beverages are endless and the baked goods and snacks are too good to be true. The atmosphere reminds me of the coffee shop in the show FRIENDS. Very cozy and very welcoming. Best of all and this is odd..if you like watching boats and trains then this is the place for you...There is an outside patio with a beautiful view of the water and the train tracks. I LOVE IT! Everyone there is extremely pleasant and know how to make you feel very comfortable... they aren't trying to sell you anything..they truly want you to just enjoy being there... If you go bring a book, a tablet, a laptop and just let yourself get lost while having some great beverages and great food. Looking forward to going back! Check them out!

Stephan Large

Great little restaurant with a fun atmosphere, very reasonably priced with interesting sandwiches.

ax blanco

Absolute gem located in a great place. Amazing views, staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly . The ambience and decor is awesome. Most importantly food is fresh and super tasty. And the coffee is great.

Butterfly Dreams

Something to know before your order, they have a $10 minimum for cards. Just wanted to warn people because there isn't a sign or anything to let customers know. Yes, there is an ATM, however a sign to be courteous to tht customer BEFORE they order would be helpful.

Breer Rabbit

A great place for breakfast or lunch. Very unique space with lots of interesting bricabrac. The food and coffee is all absolutely delicious. Just saw half of the new london day staff in there the other day so you never know who you might see there.

Marc Gottesdiener

so great when visiting my home town to partake at Sue&Barry's place yet wanted to hear muddy's blues. Actually the atmosphere is quite friendly and comfortable!

August Harper

Get the pistachio muffin toasted with butter. The ladies who work here are all smokin' hot. But go for the muffins. Don't be a creep.

Michelle Little

Breakfast is amazing and their lunch sandwiches are classic and fresh! The deck is awesome to watch boats and trains during warm weather!

ReJinah Andrews Hill

The Love Salad is my favorite!! Nice and cozy place. The staff is always friendly.

Daniel Wimberley

It's like having brunch/lunch at your grandmother's house. With a cozy blend of eclectic furniture and a bounty of chachkies adorning every nook, this is a wonderful place to linger for a bit alone or with friends The staff is polite and attentive. The food is excellent. And you haven't lived until you have had a grilled muffin. I cannot visit New London without stopping in here once or twice for sit.

Wendy Gonzalez

I only had the coffee and it was delicious. I went for soup and apparently they dont serve soup on Sunday. What!? Seriously?! Oh okay. So they lost 5 people as we left. It was cold and a soup day. Oh well.may e they will reconsider their soup policy.

Patricia Krajewski

Love the food and atmosphere

Lorenzo Ameris

Here is a cozy cafe, filled with many items and images worthy of conversation over strong tea and old books. The beverages are good for the morning or afternoon and the food tends to compliment them well. Great place for meeting with others or for a quick respite by the waterfront district

Joe Colaluca

Best in place in New London to go too for coffee and food for breakfast

Marvin Serruto

Chanler Hughart

Perfect for your morning or after noon cup of joe

Momma Laura

Oh my! Loved this place! We sat on the back deck overlooking the water and trains. So relaxing. The food was amazing. We started with a chocolate and a pistachio muffin. My hubby, daughter and I just loved them, they were so moist and flavorful. Hubby had the sausage, egg and cheese croissant. Daughter had a Herb Roasted Chicken Pesto Wrap with the Potato Leek Soup. I had the Hummus Sandwich and Potato Leek Soup. None of us were disappointed. The owner was friendly and fun. All the staff treated us like honored guests. We will definitely be back!

Nicolas Aguilar

I’m from out of town. Went this morning to get coffee. It was pretty crowded cause they just opened. I got an iced coffee, a bottled drink, a cinnamon roll and a bacon, egg and cheese bagel. My coffee was good, my sandwich was also good. I ordered my stuff at 9:05 and didn’t receive my sandwich until 9:45. I over heard someone asking why there food was taking so long and got told the kitchen is really small, if you can’t handle being busy don’t serve cooked sandwiches or tell your customers it’s going to be 40 minutes to get one. I had somewhere to be by 10 and I was late cause I waited that long. While I was there the girl behind me got an iced vanilla latte and it had no coffee in it at all. She had asked me what I got and I told her but we heard the one girl say the expresso machine wasn’t working, there’s definitely expresso in a latte so they gave her cold milk with vanilla in it, she ended up throwing it out. I understand being busy in the am but this morning was kinda crazy.

Oliver Ames

Every Sunday morning, my girlfriend and I would come here to get a large cinnamon roll to split, sit on the deck looking out over the water, and get some yummy breakfast sandwiches. This place has a lot of history and charm, and the walls are covered with memorabilia from New London. If you're looking for a wonderful experience with great food and amazing service, pull off the highway and check out Muddy Waters. It is a must go in Southern Connecticut.

Carol Venia-Stokes

We stopped here on our trip up the East Coast. My daughter follows Casey Neisat and his father owns this restaurant so this was cool for her. Me too. The Coast Guard Academy is nearby and we were there on a day of new recruits that were running and chanting in the streets. Really cool. The food and coffee were great at Muddy Waters and the views were beautiful.

Harriette Clark

Great coffee, great breakfast items and great prices!

Very nice coffee shop and eatery. Had a great BLT with jalapeño bacon. Yum. Educated and well-dressed clientele. Too warm for coffee for me but it smelled good. Friendly waitstaff. Outdoor patio looking out over water and ferries. Area is a bit rough but up and coming. Typical seaside community. Loved it! I recommend stopping here.

Food is delicious and a good place to people watch. They also have a great deck with a water view BUT the counter girls could be friendlier.

Albert Pisani

Great place to stop in while waiting for your ferry, train, etc. Awesome pastries, coffee cakes, breakfast sandwiches, and a good selection of teas. Prices reasonable, and good staff. Perfect place to walk to for lunch! I love their tomato soup -- seriously have never had better! Their sandwiches are also great, and I've heard good things about their salads. Service is always fast.

D.J. Kelly

I called in to ask if they had open tables or a wait. They said plenty of tables and no wait. My wife and I arrived 5 minutes later to a line out the door in the rain. Someone is a liar.

Paxton Berardy

Great views, good vibes tasty treats

Jeremy Easterling

Family owned, rustic, tranquil. A few things that come to mind when I think about Muddy Waters. Susan is the sweetest human ever! They also have the most delicious croissants. Sausage, egg and cheese on a croissant, double egg. That right there solves most of my day to day problems.

Delightful, sort of kitschy ambiance. Coffee is pretty good. Nice menu.

Joel M. Ryan

Great place to grab a bite to eat. The staff is always super friendly helpful. Comfortable seating and easy access to downtown. I recommend Muddy Waters to all my friends.

Simon Laufer

The place it seemed to have too many pictures and other art objects on the walls, so the atmosphere did not really work for me. We got close to the closing time, so all kind of cleaning activities were going around. It took us sometime to understand what is going on...order and seat, seat and order, wait for a host(ess). I had the tomato soup and a ham and cheese sandwich. Both were tasty.

Nitsan Peled

Great interior, friendly staff, huge variety, quality products, fair prices, nice porch (the pics are the view from it)

Seth Purkerson

Quaint establishment however they did not provide water in an effort to pedal more bottled water and took 15-20 minutes to fill basic orders (bagel breakfast sandwich w/ Coffee).

Joel Tudisco

Friendly service. Coffee is the nicest in town.

CTs Finest 860

Great place

Orane Sharpe

Awesome place food was great! One thing that did knock it down a few stars are the fact that the bathroom is in the dining hall. So if someone left a....smelly surprise, anyone caught within the blast area will lose their appetite.

Joseph Kole

Friendly staff, and I had a delicious cup of Ashlawn Farm Columbia coffee. Nice and cozy atmosphere. I have also eaten their earth burger, sitting on the deck...and I enjoyed it But I like my non meat patties to be a little charred.

Phillip Metcalfe

Really good coffee joint. Coffee was very tasty with good prices. Refills on brewed coffee is only $1. Very cozy setting. Lots of plush furniture throughout the shop. There’s a fireplace you can sit by, a porch during the warm months, and plenty of other seating. The walls are filled with artwork and artifacts. Very friendly staff! I did not have a breakfast sandwich, but they looked really good.

Steven Levy

The price inside was more than the price posted outside, which was more than the prices shown online. And the bagel was mushy and bland. Disappointing.

Dana Charles

Fantastic.

Will Johnson

Closed for renovations until the 28th apparently...

Carissa Miller

I always have a good experience here, from the coffee to the sandwiches. I elevator love the double shot Cuban. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The only frustrating part is the ten dollar minimum for card- it often means I go to a different coffee shop when I would come to Muddy Waters.

Marc Panapada

It's a great place for coffee and the view is nice

Alex Strupinski

Chuck atCrozer

I ordered a soup and sandwich on a very slow day about 1130am. The time it took to receive the order was way too long. Once the soup arrived I was reminded of the taste of Campbell's gourmet tomato.

Josh Clapper

A world-class coffee shop, filled to the brim with Americana style, on Bank Street in downtown New London. The staff were friendly, the food was delicious and the views onto the Thames were breath-taking. I highly recommend the breakfast sandwich with egg, spinach, and ricotta. I only got to try the crumb cake this visit but will be back soon for another run at the baked goods.

Dave Marsh

Great place to stop for coffee and pastries or a quick breakfast before starting the day or while waiting for the Amtrak. You can meet all kinds of interesting people here, from local business persons to the governor of Connecticut. And with the Oldies playing in the background, every visit seems like a trip back to the 1960's. Fun place.

Kaylah Evans
