First time here there were a couple of bees flying around. I got stung in the neck while eating my meal and was in much pain and aggravation. The sympathy and assistance of the staff did not seem wholesome. Only one member checked up on me and it seemed like it was only because there were a number of people watching. Because the bee ended up falling into my sandwich they had it remade, but really I would have more appreciated a refund and a bag of ice. In addition, their sandwiches come with a bag of chips rather than fries. And for their high prices a bag of chips as a side feels like a rip off to me. Will not be returning.
Dog friendly. We were able to sit outside with our dog and enjoy a glass of Prosecco. Geno's restaurant has outside seating but we were told dogs aren't allowed there. So Dog Lane will get our business, not Geno's unless they change their dog policy.
Wonderful lunch
Friendly and nice atmosphere. Coffee and various espresso drinks, baked goods, breakfast, sandwiches, burgers and salads. Beer and wine. You order at counter and food items then brought to you when ready. Somewhat pricey (sandwiches run around 10 to 12 dollars) but food we had was good (sandwiches and a burger).
Their food is good but very expensive. I enjoy their food but don't think it is worth how much they charge.
Some of the best food on campus but expensive. Atmosphere makes it worth it and the staff is great. Definitely not for regular student dining options though. Makes for great meet up/night out meal.
Quieter when the UConn students are away
Delicious food...great service
Friendly staff, great food, but pricey
Good food, fast service. A bit pricey though.
One of the best places in Storrs for breakfast or lunch. Great menu, great service, outdoor seating. Popular among UConn faculty.
$30 for two salads and a mug of soup
I always make a point of coming here when I bring my son back to UCONN. Food and service is always unbeatable. They have vegan and gluten-free choices. Their gluten-free chocolate flourless cake is worth going off your diet for :)
I expected to be wowed. It was a mix. The atmosphere was similar to a chain restaurant. Nothing to funky and cool and fun. The vegan grilled cheese was very yummy. My egg and cheese sandwich on a croissant was blant and tasteless. I couldn't tell it had cheese on it. A small amount of seasoning would've been good. But the croissant was yuck. Maybe if it were grilled briefly or toasted but it was not nice and flaky like it should be. I ended up throwing almost the whole thing away which has never happened before. The cupcake we tried was too dense but the frosting was amazing. Had little blueberries on top. Lastly, my smoothie tasted like spinach, almond milk and lemon...zero sweet at all. Now that was maybe a misunderstanding because I asked for heavy on the greens...but the then committed the fruit altogether. I'm a healthy gal so I finished it anyway. But I've placed the same order elsewhere so many times and definitely never had it interpretted that way. Bathrooms were good. They have a fishtank, nice for kids if you manage a seat near it. It's a family friendly place. Staff was nice.
Great Customer service good food
The sandwich I had was delicious, the soup made tight there on the premises with fresh ingredients. The place was full yet the servers were polite and prompt
A real trendy, fresh food, coffees, Smoothies, wine. Located at the beginning of Storrs Downtown shops. Huge menu, cool specials. Restaurant uses local produce and other offerings. Nice dessert case! Casual. You may have to wait in line during peak lunch hours. Great study, laptop area for students and locals. Diverse crowd. Full breakfast menu also. Highly recommend. I stop in every time I'm in area.
Good food, good prices, friendly staff, fun music, and an overall good environment.
Excellent, if slightly pricey food, great service
Love the burgers here!
Such good food and options for people with all sorts of diets and restrictions as well as people with no restrictions! Great service and great atmosphere!
The menu and food were great, but a little pricey
Best grab and go gluten free ever ❤
Good food and service. Good atmosphere when not too crowded
So yummy! Everything is good, and I try something new every time. It is a little pricey but food taste fresh. I just never eat the chips.
Doggone good coffee and sweets!
Love the tax included method of pricing... food is delicious and arrives fast. Try the ginger lemonade, it's very good. Love coming here
Nice place
Good food, good coffee, good atmosphere. Funny and pleasant staff.
Pros: Staff is really friendly and atmosphere is nice enough. Cons: Food is pretty awful; often bland, hot food is often cold, or has been sitting on the warmer for a loooong time, or is super dry and burnt (check out the picture of the charcoal/"home fries" I was served). Not a good deal for the money. Portions are very small and they charge extra for everything, including soymilk (who does this anymore??). Go elsewhere (Grounded in Willimantic is awesome if you want independent and super high quality).
Larg selection of food items for breakfast and lunch. I favor the turkey avocado egg sandwich. It's very satisfying.
Great food and very good service.
Beef or vegetable chilis are both excellent... Everything we've had is first rate. A soothing and vibrant place to spend time.
Great place to catch up with friends, get a casual lunch, or study. The food is a little pricier but it's delicious and there's a great variety. They also have gluten free and other allergen conscious food.
We went to the Dog Lane Cafe after a concert at UConn. The staff was very nice and efficient. The food was very good. It's great to be able to get breakfast all day. I had an excellent egg sandwich with smoked bacon, avocado and cheddar cheese. I think it was called The Best Ever. Service was excellent. I highly recommend the Dog Lane Cafe!
Very chill. But they do not have Wi-Fi
Operation seems very solid. So friendly and the Gumbo is on point!
One is the best wraps I have ever eaten. So clean and great artisan food selections at a very reasonable prices!
Excellent ginger lemonade! Great for lunch and coffee runs. Pass on the soup.
Great place to sit and relax with a cup of coffee.
It's an ok place and a little pricey for the quality.
Cute little cafe. You just go up to the register to order but the food comes out relatively quick. The atmosphere is very calm and the place is kept clean.
Nice atmosphere and location
Wide variety, professional service.
Great coffee, smoothies, salads, sandwiches, with heaps of gluten free options
Great place to eat ! A little over priced though
Really like this place, but the service is hit or miss.
Delicious food and great service.
Dog Lane Cafe is a great place to visit whether you are looking to eat, or just get a drink or coffee with friends. The only reason why I decided not to give it 5 stars is because their menu is a little pricey for what you get.
Lauren wanted to try their kids hamburger with American cheese. She said was good. The best she tried so far. I only had their kids cheese quesadilla, it was good. Wishing it had more cheese but it's kids version. It was too close to a real dinner going back home.
Really wish I had a Dog Lane Cafe near my home. Food is consistently very good, menu has wide variety and the staff is always helpful and friendly.
The food is always spot on and delicious. After dozens of visits, I have never had a bad experience. Parking is a nightmare, but it is worth the visit. My personal favorite is the clam chowder.
Cute place to get food and drinks not super expensive, staff are nice :)
Unique spot on campus to get a cup of coffee or a treat. Definitely a "small business/family owned" business that I'm happy to support. Prices are a bit higher than I'd like.
Very creative menu but things here in my opinion are slightly over priced tbh, but then again the food is REALLY good! I like the beer selection they have here and this is a VERY nice cafe, I was actually surprised how nice it was but definitely a great place for a get together, brunch or a little date for some good food (:
Green goddess smoothie and jerk shrimp wrap were delicious.
Nice selection of good food. Good chili.
Grossly overpriced, $30 for two small salads
Best bank in town. Denied for credit fraud.
The Dog Lane Cafe is one of my all time favorite restaurants. I visit it probably once every 3 months and I am never let down. The food is exceptional, the staff is friendly and accommodating, and the location is great. The menu is full of very well done dishes.
We had the turkey burgers, they were great and the spicy ketchup that came with it was fantastic.
Have never had anything bad here. Had breakfast this time as ne really enjoyed it. They accommodate gluten free individuals and have as great selection of breakfast items. My breakfast sandwich was terrific and was a great way to start the day. I would go again.
I've been here twice, and enjoyed it both times. Probably not as big of a fan as my friend Lauren is, but then again I don't know if anybody likes Dog Lane Cafe as much as my friend Lauren does.
I like that Dog Lane is high quality without being pretentious or having a snooty vibe. The prices are a bit high but you don't mind paying for the quality and experience. Definitely worth the stop if you're in the UConn/Storrs area.
Wide variety of yummy sandwiches and good gluten free options
A nice place to eat for any meal. Tends toward the pricier side, but you always get your money's worth in both quantity and quality.
It's OK. My family likes it. I have never had a great meal here. Been 4-5 times at least. The food is always very bland. It seems very expensive for a place that you order at the counter. We spent $63 for a burger, hot dog, 2 salads, corn chowder and 4 sodas.
A classic cafe. I visit almost every time I'm in Mansfield. I appreciate that they include tax in the price of each item. Great place to meet up with friends.
Great atmosphere and delicious food. A little expensive but once I got my food I didn't mind. There are two parking lots just a short block away. Overall it was a great experience.
Over-priced sandwiches. The coffee is New England Coffee out of a pump pot. Bleck!! But hey, at least there's nowhere to change your laptop/phone.
The food was good and service was great. Nothing exceptional, but would visit again.
So many choices, everything is delicious.
Great quality of food with friendly staff. Only downside is that some of the items are pricey for a college budget and some of the portions are small. Highly recommended.
Oh my god the vegan grilled cheese is SO YUMMY. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had. This restaurant is located amongst other restaurants and shops in a little plaza with tons of outdoor seating in the middle. Dogs totally welcome, which is a huge plus for my furry family!
Great food with a huge variety of choices. Great atmosphere, whether for doing some school work or grabbing a beer or wine with friends.
Very good sandwiches with great soups
Vegetarian chilli and healthy monkey smoothie were great! Rest of family had amazing burgers and pastrami.
I work here as a line cook! Food is tasty and fresh with most things being made in house! The atmosphere is pleasant and hip...and the people are what make the whole place great! The staff is always considerate and kind while the customers are always happy and content!!
Waitresses are cute, but the food is just okay. Probably won't go back.
Bubble tea is meh.
Very peaceful and nice place to stay warm and read books or work. Unfortunately wifi and power outlet are not available but it is still good to me for its good taste of coffee and atmosphere
Great food!
While it's nice that they list their prices with tax included so you know exactly what you're paying, the food is still WAY overpriced. If you want to get lunch in the area, there are equally tasty and filling options for half the cost. This could be forgiven if they had WiFi since it's a nice seating area, but they don't. That's right, no wifi. None.
This place never disappoints.
Great breakfast and lunch place. A bit pricey, but food quality and preparations are excellent. Very causal, with a broad range of customers. Good location, right across from the parking garage, with 2 hours of free parking.
Good food. You can make up your own menu item based on what they have. Pricey. Great windows all around. Free WiFi. Near U-Conn.
Good food
lobster bisque was very good. grilled cheese was very good. service is excellent. classes ended and the line was out the door. everyone made it move fast. these kids had a great sense of serving. polite, informative and if they walked by they ckd on you. cashier apologized for the short staffing. there is no need to..they can certainly accommodate the crowds!
Very relaxed environment with lots of great food, all freshly prepared. A great place for an informal meeting!
A great spot to stop in the way to your beach rental at the cape. We had a great breakfast for a place that we had no idea existed. Going forward I would expect that we would make the Dog Lane Cafe part of our itinerary on the way to the Cape.
More expensive than I'd like ($11-14 for a sandwich is a bit high), but always tasty. Typically PACKED, even when classes are not in session. Not the place for a quick bite as you will be waiting on line then waiting for your food, but great for leisurely casual meal.
Awesome chef!
Good food, deals, people, prices
Decent food. They put chips with their burgers.. Such a weak move
The service was excellent with a very friendly wait staff. 1/2 chili sandwich option with the Cajun chili cup and 1/2 pastrami rueben.
Excellent soups and very good sandwiches in a casual setting. Also great short ribs. Reasonable prices. Our regular stop when on campus for games or concerts. Sometimes Geno's but usually Dog Lane.
Wow. The food is yummy! If you want a delicious lunch, stop by here and enjoy the food. So many options and specials. I had a grilled cheese sandwich, with apples, carmelized onions, and blue cheese. Not your average grilled cheese sandwich!
Always great food and service. Consistent
I had grilled chicken Cobb salad. Chicken way overcooked. Rest of salad good. Wife and son both had cheeseburgers. Both way overcooked...I'm noticing a theme here. My daughter had chicken vegetable rice soup and Caeser salad to go with dressing on side. Soup was good but dressing was put on salad ruining it for later when she wanted it.
Not cheap, but not outrageous. The food is quite good, and the place has a nice, relaxed vibe. A minor drawback is parking.
A nice cafe that I enjoyed a couple nice beverages at! I didn't try any of their food but it did appear to look fairly scrumptious upon looking at other customers eating it.
Food pretty good, portions mediocre, small bag of chips with sandwiches, no side of coleslaw
Breakfast is pretty good, but the coffee and lunch/dinner entrees are overpriced and taste microwaved. Service is fast and friendly, but doesn't make up for the mediocre food.
Great coffee ok food
Really delicious food served. Always feels light. One of the best food places in storrs.
Chocolate chai here is the best!
Amazing burgers and food, Audi have great food and drinks like their grilled cheese.
Great food even though they never seem to be able to give me the sandwich I actually ordered.
One of the best eateries in this area. Fresh food and always pleasant service. My go to place for taking friends to lunch.
Dog Lane is a unique restaurant, offering sandwiches, salads and dinner specials. Just off the UConn campus, this is a popular stop for students, grabbing a quick bite of comfort food, or quitely preparing for an exam or project. Dog Lane has a great selection of deserts, and for legal patrons, offers a selection of craft beers and wine. The decor has a casual / light industrial feel, and the facilities are clean and appear well maintained. I would recommend one of the gourmet grilled cheeses, the spare rib pesto sandwich, or one of the beef or vegan burgers, with one of the 5-6 soups or salad, with your favorite IPA for your first visit, and finish off with a Toll House Cookie, or Carrot cake.
The food is good and the atmosphere is great. There are several good vegetarian and vegan options, including some great smoothies. Most of the breakfast options are unavailable once lunch starts, but a few are available later in the day including their quinoa bowl. All prices include tax and don't require small coins.
Some, suit, stay. A great motto. Good food and a very pleasant place.
Great food and service
Food is just okay, but definitely over-priced for what you get
I don’t mean to be unfair, but there aren’t a lot of games in town—not a lot of competition. The food was ok, but hugely overpriced. The venue is pretty adorable. It’s location is ideal when visiting the campus or going to a show at Jorgenson. Sorry to be unkind.
Very very very good food. A fresh spin on orginal cafe favorites. A bit pricey, but very much worth it. I just wish there were napkins on the tables bcs my caramel hot chocolate was a lil messy, also delicious.
Way too slow. Way too pricey. But good variety... I prefer other spots in Storrs Center. After reading the other tepid reviews that somehow squeeze out 4 stars for the place, I am downgrading from 3 to 2 stars. How can it cost so freaking much? All undergrad student labor... All quite basic recipes... I don't get it...
In the past, the gumbo has been absolutely delicious -- it is *the* reason I go to the Dog Lane Cafe. Yesterday's gumbo was horrible and inedible. It tasted like it was burned and its consistency was sludge-like. After two bites, I had to return it for a refund.
So many great options. They accommodate dietary needs well. Friendly staff.
Nice selection of burgers and sandwiches, as well as vegetarian options. Also serve breakfast sandwiches all day. Place is usually pretty crowded, so it can be tough to find a table. Overall, a pleasant atmosphere.
Daily specials rule ... esp grilled cheese w shortribs. Wow
Excellent food with a good variety of gluten-free options. The ginger lemonade is spectacular!
Wait staff was pleasant. Atmosphere was nice. We had salads that were ok. Seemed over priced.Would try it one more time
Overpriced mediocre burger and service. Go to Mooyah next door. The old lady had the nerve to tell me that they don't want ppl doing work there. Its near a university for god's sake.
Great place good food. Had to wait too long for my salad but once I got it, it wad great
Really good food. A little more on the expensive side but serving sizes are generous.
Coffee good, muffins good, just overpriced
Very good food and service. Great coffee. Comfortable setting. Good prices. That's it.
Nice casual atmosphere, not too expensive not too crowded. Food was nicely prepared, the coffee was good, far better than the usual corporate fare.
We stopped in for the first time from out of town and ordred the vegetarian sandwich and the black bean burger. Both tasted great and we received cheerful and quick service.
Good food, friendly service, relaxing atmosphere. Good espresso with steam milk coffee!!
Always a great meal, but this time the grilled cheese and ruben were left on the grill too long.
Good food a bit noisy
A very nice cafe' on the campus of UCONN. A little expensive but the food was terrific. It us very bright and the decor and design of the place has a modern but not over the top look. Oh, did I mention the food was great?
Fun coffeeshop with a cool, chill vibe and great coffee. Also their smoothies and other special drinks looked amazing.
Good food, but overpriced.
First time eating here. Great place and we'll definitely be back.
Great food, great service! Nice staff!
Third time in a row I've gotten a sandwich with tomatoes that are both grainy and have the consistency of guacamole. $11-13/sandwich should at least warrant fresh ingredients.
Nice casual restaurant, Doghouse burger was great. The half ice tea and half lemonade drink also great
The food isn't bad but it's pricey.
Great food and even better customer service!
When looking for lunch in Storrs, haven't found a better spot. Creative specials, a bit overpriced, decent selection of bottled beer.
Nice
Always a good coffee stop!
A go-to place to eat when my family's in town. A bit pricey, but the food is great and the surface is nice. Outdoor seating available, for those that want it.
Loved it. Brought my 2 4yr olds in with me and we had an awesome breakfast
Friendly staff, reasonable prices, and good food.
Great place service was amazing
A little pricey but well worth it.
Good food but shouldn't have to sacrifice my first born in order to eat and pay
Nice atmosphere. The food is okay, its soups and sandwiches mostly. They serve beer and wine in addition other drinks including Hosmer Soda. Kinda pricey for what it is and what you get.
This café is a great addition to the Storrs commons. There's always plenty of seating and a lot of different drink and food options, with some specials each week. The abundance of outdoor and window seating makes a great spot to wind down.
Very good cake and warm place I totally recommand it
I love
Awesome little restaurant! Fresh, real food served with a smile. As someone with difficult to manage dietary needs (I cannot eat refined sugar... read your labels, it's in just about everything) this place saves my life! Fresh food made on site, lots of organic foods and it's so amazingly delicious. I wish I could eat there every day. Great place for a cup of coffee or glass of wine too. Somehow manages to maintain an intimate atmosphere despite being a busy place. Also has outdoor seating!
Great place!
Great food and atmosphere. have come in her many times to study and it is just a terrific place.
