Avocado toast was great, but their “paleo” waffle with fruits and cream had sugary whipped cream come with it. For a family that has special diets because of special needs, this was disappointing. Coffee was also sub-par. If you are looking for excellent coffee, then there are many other awesome establishments in New Haven.
Absolutely delicious! Cozy cafe with seating inside and out. Perfect street parking. Nice and clean and friendly staff. The food was fresh and taste delicious. They have a great selection of everything and specialty coffees and teas!
Yoga ball chairs, a happy thought wall, a perfectly made vanilla spice latte, and beautiful avocado toast. A perfect place to grab breakfast with the main squeeze after staying in the Omni. 5* experience, the cafe and the date. Best of luck to the cafe from two local Coloradoans. Sincerely, Sass A. Frass
Support the wonderful local eateries like this hidden gem! Smoothies and coffee specialties are amazing, food is healthy and delish... interesting artwork displays from local artists... wonderfully gracious hosts, Teri & Tom... fabulous customer service...and... you just might be surprised with a yummy cookie treat from Teri!
Nice atmosphere. Good service, coffee & food.
Good food
Laid-back, pet-friendly cafe popular with the Ninth Square crowd. Great all-day breakfast menu. Only place in town with yoga ball seating!
Love this place, been here many times over the years. By far the best bagels I’ve found in downtown New Haven, and the only coffee shop I know of where you can get healthy unsweetened yogurt and such. Good sandwiches and avocado toast too.
Egg sandwich is amazing. Friendly staff and great food. A++++ Highly Recommended
Best almond milk latte around. Food and coffee is consistently great! I was on vacation for a week and went to this cute little cafe for coffee every morning. The yoga ball chairs are great to sit on and do work and the staff are friendly with a good attitude and great ambiance in the cafe. Would recommend and go again whenever I am in the area.
Coffee is OK but disappointing. Had expected they have a professional barista. Not much taste.
My girlfriend's waffle was one of the best I've ever tried. My egg sandwich was meh (more cheese than egg and too greasy). Iced Americano was also meh (cup full of ice).
Cozy and quiet little cafe with friendly service.
Good food, great selection of smoothies & coffees. Nice, casual atmosphere, but it can get noisy!
This is a great place to work and a less crowded option then further downtown if you hit it at the right time of day. From yoga balls, to a long bar, plush comfy chairs, and plenty of tables and seating options available. Also of note: plugs for computers/phones. Appropriate for a client meeting, a casual date, or some quiet reading. The food options are healthy and tasty. The smoothies and juices are also of high quality and worth every penny. Hard working, thoughtful and cheerful people own and work at this place and you feel welcome when you walk in. Don't forget to leave a note on their community chalkboard before you leave!
Great dark chocolate mocha and nitro cold brew. Quality coffee for quality prices. They have a good amount of seating, definitely could be a nice spot to study or do some work.
Pretty good place to sit quietly with a laptop. A lot of options for fresh juice, fancy coffee and non dairy milk options. The kale chips were pretty tasty and I got a lot of them with my sandwich.
Great food and coffee !
The space is cute but nothing I’ve had has been worth the price or wait time.
A cute shop to drink and do some work in. I only stopped by to get their nitro brew so I wasn't able to enjoy their work spots and cool bouncy ball chairs. The nitro brew wasn't outstanding but it wasn't horrible either. It was a well balanced iced coffee and not acidic at all which is a plus! If you have work to do, this place seems like a quiet place and everyone around were doing their work. It's pretty small but they have plenty of tables.
Great place for a quick bite and quaint cafe setting for studying or catching up with friends
Staff wasn't friendly or helpful.
Just came to see some family and needed to eat, I get kind of hungry in the morning. Went to Cedarhurst... WOW simple menu and the food is amazing. I see myself as a good breakfast cook but this food was better than anything I've made. Want good breakfast and nice staff go to Cedarhurst!
This place is amazing! The food is delicious (highly recommend the avocado toast and a Belgian waffle for a meal for two), and they have a nice selection of caffeinated drinks as well as smoothies. Cute atmosphere with a wide array of seating options.
FREE REFILLS on coffee. Great food. Pet friendly. Friendly staff. Great environment for studying/working.
Good breakfast, nice staff and the perfect place to bring your computer to work!
So last week i went in and it was wayy too crowded for such a small environment, the staff didn’t seem to care much for customers, they kept ignoring and ignoring, me and my friend were a bit impatient. I ordered a “tropical” smoothie, the #3 i think and it was suppose to have all of these fruits in it and it looked good then when i got it, it took about 25 minutes just for a smoothie and it wasn’t even worth the wait. It tasted watery, it was bland, i don’t even think they put what they said it was suppose to be, all i tasted was banana and water, and it was pricey. i threw it out, what a waste of money i don’t recommend this place for quality food or just to get something quick and eat or even sit down in peace for how crowded it is. But i give it an extra star just because it has vegan options
Best London Fog ever! Seriously it is amazing. Well done
Best smoothie
Quality food and drink items in a relaxing atmosphere. Owner operated with a smile
Cedarhurst is a great little spot, good coffee, good people, overall nice experience.
Great coffeeshop to work in. Friendly staff, wide variety of drinks and food.
Great coffee shop come here every morning to get my coffee and they always get it perfect!
Nice ambiance
One of the meat parm sub I have ever had. Very cheap. Great atmosphere to read/ chill
Very nice smoothies and meals
Love the egg sandwich; fits best with extra bacon and avocado!
A great coffee shop and care. Excellent service, in a casual and nicely acoutered space.
Beautiful little bfast and lunch place on the edge of the metro area. Be prepared to pay around $10 for bfast and the laquered wood floors are awfully loud paired with metal chairs. Otherwise a great find for early mornings!!
A bit crowded. Clearly a popular place. The eggs were not quite done and runny even though they were scrambled, the bacon was too done and dried out. Atmosphere was nice and I enjoyed resting there with my friends. Tea was perfect.
Super friendly, and they cleaned my travel mug!
I like it here. Good clean food, nice environment, friendly service and a good way to kill some time and unwind.
Wonderful, cozy cafe. The owner is super friendly and cares for each individual customer. Great coffee and a wide selection of breakfast foods—bagels, muffins, waffles, savory sandwiches. Perfect place to hang out on a lazy day.
Been going to Cedarhurst Cafe since Tom and Terry took it over. Their always cheerful, warm greetings are as welcome on a long workday as their great coffee , baked goods and wonderful atmosphere. And don't forget about Kate's awesome zucchini brownies! I work at a global conservation organization whose CT Field Office is in New Haven. My team and I not only have regular coffee runs tp Cedarhurst but also use it for offsite team meetings and catering for events. I've lost count on how how many times Tom and Terry make sure we are well-fed and well-taken-care of! Love this place, makes a great neighborhood even better.
My belgium waffle was great; the bread on bacon egg and cheese was gross.
Slow service. Decent nitro. Everything about the service seemed like the peak of inefficiency. The woman taking orders seemed to be more concerned with making espresso drinks than taking the orders for the line going out the door. The other employees meandered around their jobs without any sense of urgency conserving how many orders they were supposed to be handling. Could see why this is a popular spot. But with service like this, I won't be coming again anytime soon.
We were in the area of this establishment and was recommended this place to get a quick bite. I ordered the Belgium waffle with fruits. It came with strawberries and banana. The fruits were nice and fresh. My friend ordered the grilled chicken avocado salad. The mango's on the salad were very fresh also ( I helped myself to one). The salad came out right away but there was quite a wait for the waffle. The cafe has a nice and cozy feel. Looks like a nice place to come and get some work done. Most people had their laptops out. They have high chair tables and they also have an exercise balls chair. They do heed warning to "sit at your own risk". The only thing that I didn't like was that I ordered an Iced Chai Latte. There was too much ice in mine. I couldn't taste the chai at all. It was too watery.
I read reviews and came in with time to kill. The service was super friendly. I explained I was sticking to a Keto way of eating and she was so helpful! The eggs, cheese, & bacon were cooked fresh and were delicious! The iced coffee was yummy too! Friendly service, great selection of food, and relaxed atmosphere. Two thumbs up!
Food and price were good. I found myself wanting more, so. . . Why 3? It has so much potential I could only see it for its possibilities. . .
Cedarhurst is one of my favorite places to study/work in New Haven. Great ambiance and great coffee! A little overpriced, in my opinion, but worth it. The avocado toast is also a must-try.
Great tea and pastries. Yoga ball chairs are fun!
Delicious sandwiches and all day breakfast. Lots of delicious tea and coffee/latte options. They put love and care into each item they make!
A little out of the way and not necessarily worth the trip. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't really worth a repeat visit.
Good workplace with fresh salad!
Great little cozy cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Fresh food made to order. Specialty coffees, smoothies, and teas. The employees are friendly and courteous. Plenty of on street parking as well.
Coming here 3 times a week for acai bowl and coffee , very cozy and warm atmosphere, excellent service . Definitely one of my top 5 places in New Haven
Food wasn't anything special and the prices were high. The atmosphere inside was cute.
Good and fast service. College-friendly atmosphere and an authentic fresh orange juice.
Worst experience ever. $7.00 egg, bacon croissant sandwich. Egg- microwaved, bacon-microwaved, croissant-not toasted. I was brought the sandwich and noticed it was not toasted, no big deal. I asked kindly would you toast this for me please, with the toaster in sight she took my sandwich to the microwave and nuked it. The sandwich obviously became chewy, rubbery , and soggy. Service was not hospitable, and chairs were extremely uncomfortable. Coffee was abysmal and bland, I have never written a review before and probably wont ever again. But this experience was worth the moment to let people know not to waist your money here.
Bad coffee (tried the macchiato), average dishes (tasted the egg salad, açaí and biscotti), and very obnoxious service - all this for unjustified prices. Otherwise the decor is cozy.
Ask for a Nitro in a glass. ☺️
Awesome people. Awesome food.
Killer and unique menu, nice aura, cozy -
Literally amazing. Food is slow but that’s because it’s cooked fresh! Owners were super sweet
Great food and smoothies. Laid back atmosphere and dog friendly.
Glad to walk in and discover this place. They have smoothies and juices too! Though the wait time for food was a little long. I got the banana and nutella waffle, thinking it would just be a drizzle of nutella over the top.... boy was I wrong, there was nutella slathered on and made it hard to eat all of it. Good for nutella lovers, I suppose, but just not what I was expecting! I would come back and try something else.
Great smoothies
Great food selection for vegetarians, OK for meat-eaters. Quality excellent. Comfortable atmosphere.
Great coffee & tea options, make breakfast and desserts are amazing. A hidden gem
Jenniffer is the best! Love this cafe
Clean place with great egg sandwich on amazing
Nice chill atmosphere, friendly staff, and free WiFi. Food was delicious. 10/10 would recommend.
The food is very good but the woman who took my order was not very pleasant, maybe she was just having a bad day. Can't say I would go back because of that but the food is definitely good
Loved the atmosphere and their dirty chais. Avocado sandwich is worth a try.
I had good time here.
Great place, good food great coffee, and the service is awesome
This is a great New Haven spot that's walking distance from downtown but away from the crowds. It's easy to relax, study for a bit, or crack open a book. There's free wifi, and the coffee has always been good.
Nice place to grab a small healthy bite, and a coffee. They make everything from scratch, including the Orange Juice. Fresh squeezed. All food is made to order. Tiny wait but it is worth it
I ordered an iced americano and they used dirty (reused the same white espresso) cups to catch the espresso. Since the cashier wasn’t watching the espresso it overflowed and then she poured the bitter remaining espresso into a cup with no ice - it was still steaming so i asked for a cup of ice to pour it into since it was still hot. After all this it tasted bitter and why pay $4.75 plus tax for something that doesn’t taste good. Also here’s pictures of a “baked” muffin they sell that is still wet and uncooked dough
my wrap was lettuce than chicken. cool venue but service under par. I return 2 years later and conquer that this place is just 3 stars. I want it to be so much more but it’s just nothing to write home about
very rude female owner the place was really cute but she made the place very unpleasant and uncomfortable especially talking about you in front of staff as you're a 5 feet away.
Don't know this place.
Absolutely adore this place. Great breakfast food, fresh squeezed fruit juice and really good coffee. Plus they are pet friendly!
Good coffee and nice ambience
Amazing everything
Best cappuccino in New Haven, and they’re dog-friendly.
Great coffee fun atmosphere and surprisingly awesome food. We we're really impressed all around. It had a really nice vibe and we enjoyed working here most of the afternoon
Food? Yeah. Coffee? Yeah. Art? Sure. Customer service? Nooooooope.
This cafe might be dog friendly but it is not dog responsible, or citizen responsible, I live in the crown street area so I pass this Lawbreaking cafe ( see city ordinance 7-5 about nuisance animals) and was almost bitten twice by the customers dogs which happen to be on a short lease under their chair or table. I reported this to the manager, and she said that since this is as dog friendly cafe their is nothing that she can do because the dog owners are the bulk of her business. She said that it was up to the dogs owner to control their dogs, even though the customers were eating and drinking their products and sitting at the tables that they provide. I suggested that the cafe post signs to inform the dog owners and the public of this danger, she said their is nothing she can do, and as I was walking out, she said the dogs should bite you the next time. This is absolutely the rudest, nastiest most inhumane person I ever met, and she has no business serving the public. I've inquired about this matter with several officials to resolve this extremely important Lawbreaking issue!
03/31/2019 ordered bacon egg and cheese at 9:10 a.m, was waited 40 minutes my order still wasn’t ready. They refused me Cancel my order, because it’s already was paid. Eventually I left and didn’t get my sandwich. Paid $11 only for coffee. Horrible service.
Great people, friendly owners and delicious food.
The food was fine, but the smoothies were too watery so they tasted very bland, and their nutella desert was really hard to chew on. (Not to mention they took the wrong order.) Their order system is also really awkward. They don't take your name and they don't give you a number, so they just call out the orders when they are ready. Servers often meandered for a bit before finding the right person, if they found them (we got someone else's order at one point).
Nice space, people and food selections. Always in for the Nitro coffee :) I would suggest the Barristas not to overheat their milk when making hot coffee. It waters down the texture and takes out all the sweetness. Other than that it's very welcoming
Minutes before having our food unceremoniously and wordlessly dropped in front of us, we saw the Belgian waffles with chocolate chips pass us on its way to a predictably unenthusiastic patron. Said dish was literal in its description: a simple waffle with store bought chocolate chips dumped on top. The waffles themselves probably are store bought as well, for how difficult is it to just bake them into the f$&@ing waffle. It was a culinary feat to behold. Then our food arrives. If you ever wondered what poor quality hamburger or sandwich toppings would taste like rolled into a wrap, dry without the hint of sauce or ingenuity, then wonder no more. And let me be clear, I’m talking about lettuce, tomato, onions and a couple of cucumbers fashioned as though they just fell out of a premade bag of salad, clumsily wrapped onto a little plate of disappointment. The egg salad Croissant, upon ordering, we were told “We don’t have any croissants.” Then a pause. “....um, is there anything else we can have egg salad on?” Getting it on an English muffin seemed a good substitute. Taking the top off the sandwich, nothing in there but egg salad. Super. No salt & pepper, no pickle. Nothing. It’s what one would expect if they were having egg salad sandwich day in a penitentiary. Luckily we ordered the wrap which had all the sandwich toppings ready to be dispersed. Oh. Lastly we also ordered a bag of chips. They delivered a bag of Ruffles. Ruffles? F$@& you Cedarhurst. And no. I will not leave my dishes by the garbage can.
What a hidden gem! Excellent breakfast and lunch options. Can eat inside with refurbished wood tables and options of exercise ball chairs, or eat outside. Great service, healthy options, and fair prices. My new favorite breakfast in new haven
Get the meatball grinder and a smoothie, thank you Jesus
Love this little out of the way cafe. Clean bathrooms, friendly customer service, good selection. It's a little far from the Yale part of New Haven but I suspect that may be what makes it so special.
This is one of those places that some people will completely ignore because it's WAY too expensive for the mediocre sandwich they'll give you. The fact that it takes them 16 (and we timed it) minutes to make a coffee only encourages these people to stay away. On the other hand, some people will have about this place for having Paleo and vegan food, the "best coffee in town", and an amazing staff that makes the food and coffe worth the price and the wait. Deciding if you like this place is as easy as deciding which kind of person you are.
Decent and cozy little cafe. Was happy with the waffles, coffee was ok but not great.
A bit pricey, but a good place to work or study.
Friendly stuff!! A great bacon eggs and cheese...yum!
Do not get the açaí bowls here they come out as soup and usually they should come thick with granola and I did not get either of those. Usually I am full when I finish one and I am still starving because it was very small. Also there is supposed to be a lot of fruit and there was very little.
Came here with my main girl Sass A. Frass in search of caffeine. We were delighted to discover the space was pleasantly humming with patrons, and despite a line we were served expediently. The latte was on point
Nice place, Trendy and a bit expensive. Went on a Sunday explicitly to get a smoothie. It was good and the fact that they were open and open early made my decision for me. About the only place I could find. Tables and window "BALLS" to sit on at a counter. They have coffee and some bakery items but I didn't se (or ask) for any other food items. Our 2 large 20oz non organic smoothies were just about $20 bucks. Not outrageous but a buck or so more then I thought it should be for the price. We ordered off the bear and didn't do add ins or anything special. Very quiet place to start an early Sunday morning . Cashier and makers we friendly but casually so and no interested in any expanded conversation
Stopped in here on a trip from Portland, OR. I had of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had, in any city I've visited. Great coffee too.
More selection than typical coffee shop. Was looking for oatmeal - and they had it! Woohoo! I didn’t try the big round exercise ball chairs, but they looked interesting.
Great coffee. Great place to read or work. Food was delicious too. Location in new haven is nice as well.
Less than average food and terrible lattes. Don’t order the dirty chai latte, it was so overpowered with the wrong flavors. The waffle and the egg sandwich were something I could’ve (should’ve) just whipped up at home. doesn’t feel like there’s a passion for food or taste from the kitchen. Only thing nice was the ambience which is pleasant and gets you ready to eat a good meal
It's clear that no one actually knows what they are doing by the type of questions they ask. Botched orders, luke warm lattes, and horrible service. It's like it used to be a true mom-and-pop place that was bought out by a richer family who just wants to keep making money. No passion or love for coffee. They probably get their ingredients from Costco. Good location though, decent atmosphere, and diverse (but expensive) menu gives this place 1 star.
Not my favorite coffee, but the smoothies are great.
Great food, service, and coffee. Give it a try! Will not be disappointed.
Comfortable, relaxed atmosphere and a nice selection of food. Definitely try the nitro-pushed iced coffee!
