What a charming little restaurant! We stopped here the other night on our drive through town. Food was delicious but I think a lot of our experience had to do with the delightful waitress. Her name was Shaylene, not sure how to spell it but she was knowledgeable, friendly and sincere. We will definitely be back

All wait staff very knowledgeable and friendly. Presentation of our dinners (my husband had scallops and I the hanger steak) were beautiful. Food done perfectly. Dessert....we highly recommend the Turtle cake. No complaints here. The atmosphere was very nice, too.

The food is awesome! The fries, as an appetizer, are the best fries ever. My favorite dinner meal is the camp style trout. I get it every time. We love going there for dinner.

This is one of those favorite places for many people as it is an above average French restaurant. Five stars will tell you that the cuisine is of highest quality cooked to perfection by knowledgeable chefs trained in the culinary arts. The wait service,decor and menu are impeccable. I had stumbled across this place once while getting out of I-95 traffic, was so impressed I kept their card on my dash. So easy to find and such a short distance off I-95 I will be back yet again. We had a Caribbean fish stew and a wild boar stew that were wonderful, melt in your mouth, and very different from your run-of-the-mill stuff. The kids loved their grilled chicken, and it was so good we help them finish! They should put a sign on I-95! Update: Five years later, still love to stop here. I love that the menu changes, and is always excellent.

The lounge is excellent. Reminds us of the village. We go often and there's always something new to try. The new york strip comes with the world's best french fries. Very good and fun adult drinks, friendly staff and menus that change with the seasons. Best place on the shoreline

I met friends for dinner at Cafe Routiers in Westport. We tried a number of the appetizers and small plate items (rather like a tapas meal). Everything was delicious. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed, and the service was excellent. Not a cheap date, but highly recommended.

We have been to this restaurant a few times and it was usually very good. The last time we went we took a couple that had always wanted to go there and was excited about our reservation. Upon arriving they took us to our table and we waited a while for our waitress KERSTEN who never introduced herself to us to take our drink order. We asked her name when she returned with our drinks and she told us KERSTEN. My husband mistakenly called her Kristin and was immediately corrected but in such a nasty tone. We told her we wanted to order the fries they are famous for to pick on with our drinks before our meal. After about 15 min we asked for some bread, she nastily said they serve it with dinner and we said we would like it then so she brought it. After about a half hour of waiting for our fries my friend who was so excited about being there asked KERSTEN if our fries were ready? KERSTEN replied in a snotty reply “ if the fries were ready they would be at your table”. WELL, that was it for us. We were all stunned. From that time on we spoke to KERSTEN as little as possible and will NEVER return there. The food was not also up to its usual excellence but the service as you heard was dreadful.

The service was great. The food however was beyond disappointing. The last time I was at Cafe Routier was 5 years ago and was so impressed. Now, if you want to pay $40 for fish water in rice (paella) with no seasoning this is a great place to go. Even the fries appetizer was not fully cooked. Even McDonald's gets that right. Don't waste your time or money, there are great restaurants down the street.

Food was great and our server was good also. Unfortunately we couldn't experience the atmosphere because we had children with us and they sat us all the way in the back of the restaurant at 530 on a Tuesday. Perhaps they should just advertise not kid friendly.

I had the venison, turnips, and spinach and each one was the absolute best I've ever had. The atmosphere is upscale but not pretentious. Very nice inside and out, the food matches. The tuna nicoise was a little bit oversalted, as seems to be a theme, but was still cooked perfectly. The cherry tomatoes were a beautiful and fresh compliment

The republican drink was great as was the empanada appetizer. Service was good too. Dinner entree ehhh.. I ordered the half chicken and it came bloody & lackluster in flavor. The vegetables were submerged in so much oil and salt it was unbearable to finish. My stomach is feeling very uncomfortable now. I could have made better food without leaving the house. I was referred here by a friend and was genuinely not impressed. Maybe it was a bad night for the staff or maybe I hold food at this price point at such an establishment in high regard, whatever the reason I hope they work on it. I also notified the waitress of my concerns and she apologized, but I know it wasn't her fault. Unfortunately I doubt I will return :(
