We sat at the bar, which was perfectly lovely and drastically reduced the wait, as we went at a high traffic time. Many people were leaving as we entered though, and despite this, we still waited about 25 minutes for our food after ordering which was a little bit of a bummer. It was, however, worthy of the wait because every bite was delicious

It was pretty busy when I stopped here on a Sunday morning but my friend and we only waited 20 minutes for a table. The food was well worth the wait and the portion sizes were huge! I got short stack pancakes with a side of home fries. The pancakes were as large as the plate and it easily became three extra meals when I took it home. I plan to try the pancake souffle next!

A MUST DO! The food here is INCREDIBLE, great beverage selection as well. GO EARLY, they do not take call ahead reservations so wait times are always very long- 30mins being on the low side of a wait time. Service is great, great specials every week.

This is a great spot for breakfast. I tried the eggs Benedict and my wife had the corned beef hash. Both were excellent. However, the service did leave something to be desired.

The food and service is awesome. New / Original dishes. The presentation is just as amazing as a food. Only problem is the place is so good you may have to wait an hour on the weekends. No reservation first come first serve. Well worth the wait. I wish I could come here every day! Fresh and delicious. More expensive than a normal breakfast place or Diner. Worth every penny.

The food here is great. The specials that they have on their menu are very unique and jam packed with flavor. Their regular menu has a lot of staple items if you are looking for some classics. I had ordered the Sloppy Jose breakfast sandwich for my meal. It was salty, it was spicy, it was sweet. All good flavors leaving me wanting more. I'll leave you with that note since this was a weekend special and I'm not sure if and when it'll be back on the menu.

First time here for breakfast with my hubby on my birthday. Only a 10min wait on an early Saturday morning in December. Festive and warm inside, started with a Bellini and coffee, perfect. I chose the mushroom risotto with tender steak and poached eggs, hubby chose the burrito topped with fried eggs. Food came out in about 15 minutes or so and we both loved our dishes. Staff was great, atmosphere perfect and topping was the beautiful snowfall outside while we ate.

This place continues to be my favorite breakfast spot when I go home to CT. They've remodeled on the inside and it looks beautiful. There's even a heated patio now. It's still pretty small on the inside. Food remains amazing. My friend and I split carrot cake pancakes and lemon cake French toast. We both weren't a fan of the French toast. The pancakes were great!!

When we first walked in a waitress scolded at us and then whispered to her coworker “I guess everyone is self seating” she did this with a whole attitude and little discretion. We set at the bar rail figuring it was okay to self seat. She could’ve politely approached us and let us know that it wasn’t okay. She continued to give us bad looks through out our stay. I mentioned how staff is being rude. The food was good, service wasn’t all that. The first waitress made for a very tense environment.

Poor customer service during the breakfast/brunch hours. The hostess was rude and unorganized. They were not use to handling parties over 2, so if you think you are going to enjoy a meal with you family and friends, please be sure that it will not happen at Bella’s Cafe. This experience was unfortunate, because my party was from out of town, but frequently visited New Haven for personal and professional reasons. This will not be a place that we will return to or recommend to our network.

I absolutely recommend Bella's! Everything about our experience was awesome. The staff members were great. The hostess was very welcoming, kind, and outgoing. There were a decent amount of people waiting but she was organized. She helped bus tables and take care of customers so she was constantly moving which helped get people in quicker! We sat at bar so our server was the main guy behind the bar and he was awesome too. He was taking care of the whole bar while running the orange juicing machine and the espresso machine. He was pretty friendly and was on top of everything. I think we even met the owner who was also very sweet and talked to my mom for a little bit. The whole restaurant was spotless. All the staff members were working together to take care of the customers and keep the place super clean. Even the bathrooms were really nice. Our food was obviously the best part. My mom and I split the corned beef hash with an extra egg and a side of sausage. The corned beef hash comes with 2 eggs, your choice of toast, and roasted potatoes. The eggs were cooked perfectly (over easy) which is always nice. The potatoes were perfect and so was the toast. The corned beef hash is what really made the meal for me. Bella's makes their corned beef hash from scratch and it was excellent. It was probably the best corned beef hash I've ever had. The corned beef was super tender and not too salty. They also chop up onions and green peppers to saute up with the corned beef which is perfect because the pieces weren't too big to mess with the consistency or overpower a mouthful of the hash. I loved it. I wish there was a breakfast place as awesome as bella's near where I live because I would never go anywhere else! But, I'll definitely always stop by here whenever I'm in town.

Bellas does breakfast like no other. Food is absolutely top notch, fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. I usually get a BLT or pancakes. Not sure what’s in the pancakes but holy cow are they filling. Bella’s is the kind of place your bring someone you want to impress. Great for the morning after a special date. Bella’s is very popular and always very busy but much easier to get a table since they expanded. I was fortunate enough to live in walking distance but paid parking is available across the street. I can’t recommend Bella’s enough, go there, you will be glad you did.

We arrived at around 10 on the weekend and waited for around half an hour. Great spot for a cozy and lovely brunch. Some dishes are regular and they also change the menu from time to time. I loved the salmon risotto, the combination with poached eggs and capers sauce is brilliant. Shrimp and grits is their signature dish, but however a bit salty for my friend and me. With the friendly staff, good vibes and reasonable prices, no wonder always a long queue outside.

The service was great. Was greeted as soon as I walked in with a smile. Friendly staff! The decor is modern and inviting. Cleanliness was on point which is a big deal for me, especially in the bathroom! Unfortunately the high top bar seating is uncomfortable and since I was solo was not allowed to have my own table, so I had to sit sideways to eat my food! The food was delicious though and I would recommend this place for sure!

Upscale breakfast with a small but adequate menu. My child and I came on a Thursday morning and seemed to be not so busy ,but our wait time for food was fairly long. I ordered challah french toast (10.oo) and he ordered a sausage/egg/cheese on a soft roll (6.00 cheese is extra) .

I called then I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a hard roll I requested that they butter grill the roll crisp and the bacon crisp they did none ot that they charged me $7 I was so unsatisfied that I went to McDonald's and got twice the bacon and the sandwich made the way I wanted for considerably less.. it is my belief that no matter where you order your food from they should make it as you ask and if they're going to charge exorbitant prices they should definitely make it as you ask Bella's did not do this

Food was amazing, couldn't have loved it more. Everything else was way below expectations. 1. The restaurant was freezing cold though, and I say that as someone who is generally warm. 2. They charged different prices than what was on the menu. When we pointed it out to the waitress, she just said "sometimes they raise prices", rather than honoring the listed price. It was just a few dollars, but seemed wrong. 3. At the pancake station, multiple servers just reached into the sugar/cinnamon with their hands to sprinkle it on. There should have been a spoon or gloves.

Just about every part of eating at Bella's Cafe was pleasurable. Even though there was a thirty minute wait when we arrived, they offered us a drink for the wait - coffee, tea, or water. The coffee was good quality and finely brewed, a welcome fact since specialty coffee is rarely to be expected at breakfast cafes that do not specifically market their coffee. Even though our food took a while to come out, our server was exceptionally unapologetic and made sure we were well served once it had arrived. I had the shrimp and grits, a dish I've never encountered, and it was exquisite, crafted with obvious care so as to bring out a delightful plethora of flavors and textures; and the homemade biscuit was simply to die for. My wife had a stack of their pancakes. It was enough for two full meals, and their consistency, fluffy and thick and imbued throughout with butter, was near perfect. We will definitely be going back.

It always starts with the coffee. Honestly, I had some expectations since the reviews were rather good and the items on the menu were enticing. However, from the first sip there’s something wrong. A cafe au lait, if made properly, should have a thick, smooth foam on top of two espresso shots. But it was just regular coffee charged an extra dollar. The potatoes were chewy, most likely left over/boiled the night before and fried for a couple of minutes with a sprinkling of salt and pepper the next day. The wild mushroom omelette was overwhelmed with goat cheese so everything around it tasted the same- even the coffee. Took the guy awhile to see my waving back and forth that kept hitting walls around me, but after let’s say 10 minutes, they came over. Overall? Two omlettes with some bread from stop and shop for $50 isn’t worth it. But I’m positive it’ll make you say “mm, tastes like New Haven.”

Was recommended here. It was absolutely gross! The baked french toast was just raw bread pudding, in fact I cut into it and a bunch of raw egg spilled out. Then when I took a bite, I chewed on a chunk of egg shells. My husband got sick after eating there. Don't go if you value your health!

Great food but there’s most always a wait! The only place that offers alcohol beverages at 8am (if you’re a nurse who works night shift, you catch my drift!) They are a bit on the pricier side, but the food is quite tasty. They recently expanded their main restaurant so now have more seating options but you will be a little squished inside. It's very loud inside only because it's small and ALWAYS packed which most of the time affects the service and longer wait time for the food. But it is definitely worth the wait. The only issue you will have is the element of deliciousness when your oder arrives, until then enjoy a delicious Mimosa or Margarita while the anticipation builds until your meal arrives. Food was amazing! We were a group of 7 and it was Father’s Day so the wait was long but totally worth it! They had a special menu for the day. I ordered their sangria, banana pancakes, and biscuit and gravy! Everything were delicious. The only thing is that they don’t take more than 4 cards per table. Wish we were told this at the beginning because only one person had cash on them!

I can honestly say without a shadow of a doubt “That this is the best breakfast/lunch restaurant-café in CT”.. the ambiance coaxes you into this tranquil yet invigorating frame of mind. The food was at the highest level of quality and sophistication for breakfast and lunch cuisine.. I felt a tremendous sense of the cooking intelligence and the thematic representations of the dishes.. this wasn’t just breakfast, this was an experience and An adventure waiting to happen for my wife and I. The grits, the combination of eggs and sausage and rich robust coffee brought back sensations from my childhood of my mother cooking.. I can’t rave enough about this place.. Overall great experience! I went here right when they opened (8am) on a Friday morning to be the first to order. I was surprised 2 other parties showed up right when I did so I can understand how busy it can get on weekends! Great ambiance, clean, music playing, and friendly server. He offered mimosas as soon as we walked in and the mango was delicious! I ordered the apple French toast and it was tasty. No complaints there. The place overall is a bit pricey, $7 mimosas and $13 French toast but I have to say, I enjoyed myself and will be back. 4 stars because of the price, near $50 for breakfast is a bit high. (3 mimosas, French toast and a breakfast sandwich).

Worst service I've ever experienced. When we complained about food coming out too slow, the waitress denied that we were waiting for a long time. She claimed we came in late. It's worse than talking to someone with a different political view. Lol. The silverware and cups were very very dirty. Having stomach pain right now. Will not step in that place again . And I agree with one of the comments maybe people think food taste good because you have to wait for hours.

The attitude of the waitresses has been a constant disappointment. They act as if your desire to dine in is a total inconvenience for them. This is your JOB. Serving customers is a part of that. It makes no sense. And if you were to ask me, minority individuals are rarely regarded, respectfully & considerately. The food and selections they offer suffices. Omg!! I couldn't decide so my friend let me order both; the Bayou omelet and the shrimp and grits! The cafe au lait and the blood orange mimosa omg! Everything was amazing! I want to definitely go back before I leave New Haven!

Overall good experience but there is a long wait to be seated. I had the Kentucky hot brown and it was delicious! I'm knocking a star off because the wife had the eggs Benedict and the eggs were over cooked.

Yum! Bella's is hands-down the best brunch in New Haven. It's a little pricy--expect to pay about $15 for an entree--but well worth the treat. I'm a waffle guy, but their pancakes have damn near converted me. Maybe the best I've ever had. Definitely get some pancakes.

So delicious. I loved the blood orange mimosas. All the meals I have tried are so amazing tasting and look beautifully plated. Would definitely recommend coming here for brunch. Just make sure to have your whole party with you because they won't seat you until everyone arrives.

Came here on a Saturday and had to wait over an hour for our order to come out. Service and wait time unacceptable. Food was definitely not worth the wait. The eggs Benedict was well done. You would think with the amount of time you had to wait, the food would at least be cooked well. Will definitely not be back. They have gone very downhill since their expansion.

The wait for our meals was ridiculously long, and it was a Wed. morning. I enjoyed my meal (no complaints about the food but nothing to rave about either), but once ordered, I waited over an hour for it to arrive. Oddly, the table next to me sat after me, ate and left before me. I wouldn’t go back.

It is fall, get to work early and turn up the heat. You charge 15 dollars an omelette you can use your heat, it will not put you in the red. And if you are worried about the cost of heating your restaurant you might as well go out of business now, because you are on that path.... DON'T BE SO CHEAP. Also, your lack of using heat does not constitute refrigeration, the hot sauce Breakfast Belle needs to be refrigerated after opening, it is room temperature obviously it sat out all night. Addendum: they have little tea pots and big cups, the little tea pot of hot water does not fill the big cup... food was adequate, though not worth the cost.

Bella's is an amazing breakfast place. It is not your run of the mill restaurant, it has interesting omelettes and other dishes, fresh food and great coffee. Spoils you for other places.
