REVIEWS OF The Original Pantry Cafe IN California

Today was my first time to be at the PANTRY CAFE. I really enjoy this place as the service was great and waitress are very friendly. The cooks are fun to watch as they cook all the food fresh and only as ordered. The cook are very professional and very quick on getting meals out. I personal will tell others about this place and i will for sure go back. One thing for sure you get alot of food and all freshly cooked. I give this place 10 Gold Stairs. Thank you for your great service and attitudes of staff.

Elisa Vola

I love this place! I was there 5 years ago and I went back yesterday. Anytime I am in LA this place is a must. The food is delicious and the service is impeccable even when there are a lot of customers. For example, yesterday they gave us an example to help us to identify a specific dish in their menu. We had a sirloin tip and pancake, but soft and tender. Their hot bread and butter is something that make you feel like at home.

MaryAnn Sherman

Get ready for very large portions! This very old LA staple has great diner food. Their menus are written on boards that are hung on the walls, prices are decent for the portions you get, and the food is tasty. The wait staff is friendly and very attentive. Depending on the time of day, or if there's an event going on, you may have to wait in line.

Salvador Alcaraz

Wait time wasn't bad. I've heard about this place and had high expectations. Sadly it didn't live up to all the hype. Just another breakfast place nothing stands out. Wait staff is very good and knowledgeable. The food is good but not outstanding. Not saying anything bad but you can find this food at many other places without the wait and hassle of cash only.

Jeffrey Mitchell Matthews

BEWARE OF THE $8 GLASS OF MILK! I love this place. I really do. Been eating here for years and always make a point of coming back when I'm in LA. This morning I thought a glass of milk would be the perfect accompaniment to their delicious French toast, so I ordered it. I was shocked when the bill came and they charged me $8 for it. The price is not on the menu, but as I told them, at that highway robbery price, an advance warning would be appropriate! I spoke with the manager on duty, who told me, more or less, "Too bad. That's the price." I'll continue to eat here because the food is great and the prices are otherwise reasonable, but DON'T BUY THE MILK!!!

Christian Evans

I really enjoyed the food here. The portions are huge and the service is great. It's cash only, though, so stop by an ATM first.

Tom Adams

Great food great service men going their for 50 years the best in LA

Brian Gray

If you enjoy cash-only pricy grilled food then this is the place for you! They boast about being in business since 1924 and it shows. There’s a security guard to greet you. The ambiance is old and, well, for locals only? All staff were polite, jovial and courteous. But this is not a place to go unless you like cafeteria-style sticky tables, salty fried potatoes, omelettes and bread, french fries and burgers and lots of big people eating way too much of it. (Actually, the fries were great).

Rudy Sanchez

Never can go wrong with their Freshly made to order fried chicken! Coleslaw, the best always! Grilled sourdough bread (must request it grilled) is to die for. Tried out mac n cheese as a side (smaller portion), wasn't impressed. Apple pie is always great! Service is exceptional as always!

Steven Marek

Greasy-old breakfast that hit the spot. As long as you're on Crestor you should be fine.

k shakespeare

Iconic diner serving huge portions 24 hours a day. Worth the 30 minute wait standing in the ever present queue that trails the length of the building. Parking directly across the street is a rare bonus downtown.

Wendy Mendez

Very delicious food and really good service. You can ONLY PAY IN CASH but there is an atm in the restaurant.

Benji Galaxy

Not to slam the place - it's been around since 1924 - but I didn't love it. Cash only. A little pricey. Average-tasting food. Service was very quick and waiter was pleasant. Might be worth checking out if you're downtown. There's a parking lot across the street which validates.

Bradley Barriga

Great food, wonderful accommodation, lovely friendly staff and fantastic wildlife in the hotel grounds. We would love to go back next week.

Ulises Cárcamo

Excellent service, tasty food, 24 hours open, american style. Steaks are priceless and the people working there is really nice. That kind of place where you injoy giving a good tip.

Danis Aleena

Ooooo snap. The sausages alone are amazing, but you have to take them next door to the Toronado to wash them down.

Eric Cheung

Open 24/7 with quick and attentive service. Be aware that it's a cash-only place and portions may vary between plates. My friend ordered an omelette and got an okay-sized omelette and potatoes on a 10" plate, while I ordered the philly cheesesteak sandwich for the same price, but I got a foot long sub with a pile of fries that'd cover his plate and a side of slaw.

Beers N Bars

Great service, big portions and great location

L C

This is what a breakfast restaurant should be. Quick, efficient, friendly, seasoned staff with great portions and great tasting food. Totally impressed and I am not an easy reviewer, to be honest. This place is everything it’s said to be and more. If you are looking for bells and whistles, this may not be the place for you. But if you want breakfast done right, it’s a homerun. Went two days in a row, the second day we brought friends. This will be a go to the next time I’m in town! Bravo, OPC. Job well done

Neus Portet

Amazing place that claims their doors are open since 1924 and have never closed ever since. To me is a classic pancake house serving the traditional pancake breakfast/brunch. I would prefer smaller servings made with a bit more care. It’s very popular so allow for a bit of a line. All in all it's worth the wait.

Abraham R Vazquez

Great American diner with the classic options for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The food and service are great. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in DTLA.

Mark Brown

Great food at a reasonable price. When I'm in the area it's nice to take friends that have never been. It's a treat to see a place that has been serving good meals since 1929

Brittany Mintz

Great potatoes! Cash only. Very busy (but check the bar if there's a line outside).

Jack Switzer

This spot highlights breakfast just and inclines towards the invigorating side. The food is in every case great, however the spot is constantly occupied. Plan on going early because close parking is at a premium.

Jordan Schwartz

Very average food. I got the ham steak and eggs. The eggs were undercooked and the ham steak was very chewy. Would add an additional star if it had been cheaper (I expected a better breakfast for $17). The sourdough was very good, though.

Steven Mayorga

When you think OG Southern California Breakfast The Pantry Cafe has to be one of the first spots that should pop up in your head. Make sure you come with a empty stomach, because The Pantry does not disappoint. Get a side order of the thick sliced sourdough bread with butter made in house. I'm drooling as I am writing this

James Armagost

Great service and food, the staff is very nice and quick getting your food to you hot. Great all around if you like to see real old fashion cooking and service.

Fredy Cortez

The sourdough bread is always on point. There portions off food is huge. You will not leave there hungry. Me and my son love this place. I get an egg white bacon and cheese omelet, and my son gets over easy eggs with bacon and potatoes. Yummmy. And you have to ask them for there secret salsa. It's nice and spicy good. It gets full but it's worth the wait. You won't be disappointed in breakfast lunch or dinner.

Dawna Elliott

Great service

Matthew Prunty

Living in Los Angeles for over 30 years, you would of thought I visited this place before. A great and welcoming atmosphere. The staff is friendly and make sure you having everything you need. The food was good and delivered on time. A cash only place, but worth pulling out money to have a great experience.

bryan roddy

The food is really good and the waiter was very nice. I would have given 5 star if the restroom had not been so dirty. I thought by telling someone that was cleaning about the problem maybe would get them to clean it and I could use it after eating. That was not the case and I did not use it.

colleen morales

It was my 1st time here and it was alright. I don't think there's anything convenient about being in Downtown LA but I'll start with that. It's a corner lot restaurant with no attached parking. There is a parking lot on the opposite side of the street where it's $3 to park with validation. If you're coming from the 110 Fwy stay to your far right in order to access this lot, otherwise you're gonna have a nice little drive just to get back to that area because of the 1 way streets. We came at a good time because we didn't have to wait in a line... But note that they can't really accommodate parties of 6 or more. That may have been poor planning on our part. Also, I was burning up because I couldn't feel the AC... BUT once you order- your food does arrive surprisingly fast. You also get very big portions, so you definitely get your monies worth. Speaking of $... It's CASH ONLY. They do have an ATM inside for your convenience. So it's worth a try if you haven't been.

Dez Ruiz

Its No Wonder its Been Around So Long! Amazing, the Fodd Was Jus AWESOME! Highly Recommended & Cant Wait to go Back!!

Thisis Tip

I'm a simple breakfast girl but my pancakes were delicious. I was also impressed that a side of bacon included 5 slices. My husband ordered eggs, potatoes and toast which he said was good. It lost 1 start because it was quite smokey inside. I know it's a tight space and a diner, but it was almost too smokey for us to enjoy our meal (admittedly we are both sensitive to smoke)

Kristian Loose

While in LA last weekend I was told that The Pantry was an amazing place, and was that oh so right. Their food is delicious (best pancakes I’ve ever had) and their service is wonderful. It’s cash only and that just adds to the unique feel that The Pantry offers, and it’s open 24 hours a day! Could not suggest this establishment more - this is a must visit spot if you’re in LA (I went there twice in the span of eight hours). Trust me you will not be disappointed.

Brian Johnston

What a great little spot to eat

Elliott Blufer

Yes, you'll probably wait, but it's worth it. Tons of delicious food for your money, great atmosphere, and despite the wait, the food will come out so fast it seems magical. Oh, and I can't believe I'm talking about this of all things, but I wish I could buy their sourdough bread. It's so good. Bacon and cheese omelette is also just so good. I order it every time.

Ginger Dean

I liked the service and thought they were friendly. The atmosphere and decor is elaborate and it's got that classic old timey feel. There's some cool spots to take pics. But honestly, I didn't care for their food and thought it was bland. I wish I had gotten biscuits and gravy from Denny's instead because I thought their white gravy tasted weird. Also, make sure to bring cash because they don't take cards. There's an ATM but that's annoying. I get that they're trying to be historically accurate about the not taking cards/only cash but many people don't carry cash anymore.

Gualberto Ramirez

My first Time here. Very cute place and old school diner vibe. Cash Only so come prepared. I had the cheeseburger and it was excellent. It came with a big portion of fries. We also got some delicious Cole slaw before our meal. Probably the best I've ever had. I ordered a Pepsi and was surprised how good it tasted. I prefer Coke so I was expecting the Pepsi to not be very sweet but it was. We went around 8:30 pm on a Sunday and we didn't have to wait very long to be seated. Prob less than 10 min. No menus given, menu items are posted up on the walls. Very cute place and the customer service was excellent! Our waiter was so nice and really good and very attentive. I loved my first visit here. I'll definitely be coming back soon.

Kylie Locke

Food is amazing and service is great. We love to sit at the counter and watch the chefs work.

Anthony Samaan

Originally came here due to the high eating and high volume of ratings. I believe we made the mistake of coming for dinner because it wasn't an appropriate representation of the rating. Ordered the Pantry burger and it was incredibly underwhelming. The meat was flavorless and it lacked the spices/sauces you'd expect in any burger. Admittedly, the roast beef dinner made up for it. Very flavorful. Portions are more than you could ask for. Cole slaw is amazing. I think you're better off going for their breakfast because I assume it's what their known for.

Jay Murray

Fastest food you will ever have without it being fast food. Great place to eat. !

Esther King

Who can't give this place a 5 star--just for their mouth-watering fresh Cole slaw? A photo does not do it justice! The taste of heaven! Home style food, cooking. The menu is simple, the food is delicious, and you get in and out real quick. A lot of history in this area. My friend had the roast beef dip and i tried "the original pantry burger" which was served on soggy thin sourdough and char burnt. I said "medium well" not set on fire!Ok well, I won't have that the next time I end up here. This was my third time. Guys seem to like this place. A LA Icon restaurant. Just very old. It was like walking through a construction crew on break when I walked in. Not my kind of place aesthetically speaking but if you are in the area uts interesting piece of history.

Sebastian Figueroa

Unique location with a homey feel and friendly service even late at night. Hearty food is perfect for 12 noon or midnight. This is the go-to diner in downtown LA.

Renee Montoya

Great little greasy spoon!! My husband and I split the biscuits and gravy w/ eggs, potato’s and sausage. We also ordered a pancake and a side of bacon. It was definitely worth the super full belly and nap needed afterwards.

Storm Shadow

You want a diner atmosphere or like to sit at the counter and watch the cook make huge omelletes, then this is your place. Great steaks but the tenderloin is the way to go if you can swing it.

Sherri Perry

Don’t be discouraged by the long line outside at breakfast time. The line moves really fast. U get huge portions and the food is really good and comes out fast. Went for dinner one night no line outside and we ordered spaghetti and meatballs. Again huge portion and was absolutely delicious. The next day we went for breakfast and split a plate I just ordered my own eggs because it’s just that much food. I preferred the pancakes at breakfast.

Jess Monique

Our first stop when babe landed in LA ~ loved it.

Alexis Hardy

You can't go wrong, Excellent Service, Food is exceptional and the Mimosas are delicious! The Salsa is one of the best! Julie is simply wonderful, efficient, prompt and courteous, she's a doll! Looking forward to coming back with an appetite

Stephen Wooldridge II

Best toast. Best pancakes. Best ham. This place is heaven. I can't even explain it.

Michelle Stevens

Needs an upgrade. Waiting outside with homless all around isn't exactly fun. Maybe a little paint inside? Also paying more than $10 for breakfast like that is silly. Not worth the hype.

Nathan Soltz

Best restaurant in the entire city. A must-stop when in LA. Quick, friendly service. No-nonsense. Great food, big portions, simple menu, at a great price. Parking can be a little tricky but with a little luck you won't have a problem, especially if you don't mind walking a little bit. NOTE: CASH ONLY.

Glue Guy

All is good about this place. A locals favorite. Expect a long line for breakfast. Cash only. 4 stars for cleanliness. One order is enough to feed 2 people

k boeds

Our tour guide recommended this restaurant. Good thing we looked it up online first because that's how we learned they are "Cash Only" The food is good and the portions are definitely big enough to feed two people. Best to find something to share unless you want the same thing for your next meal.

James Wesley

A fantastic place for an authentic American breakfast. The portions are huge and delicious. It's hard to eat everything, but you can take what's left. Atmosphere reminds us of old American road restaurants. Thus place has existed since 1924 and there is sometimes a long queue, especially on weekends. Open 24 hours a day. Charming and very efficient staff. Only accept cash. A must for a real Californian experience.

Jency Martinez

Always the best service, there’s usually a long line thankfully this wasn’t the case when my friends and I visited (10pm on a Sunday). The prices are not bad for downtown and you get big portions of food. I get the French toasts for $11. ITS CASH ONLY! (I think they have an atm inside though)The menu is on the wall and I love that they use paper straws.

Michael T

It's a great late evening visit when nothing much is open, the food is reasonably good though nothing extraordinary. I don't mind visiting when there's no queue, but I'll go to other places if there's a long queue in the afternoon. The ventilation inside the restaurant isn't great so be prepared to leave smelling like grease.

Latashia Cole

The food was delicious but I'm not sure if I'd pay those prices again. We went for the experience so it was great. Our waiter was very attentive but seeing as it was our first time and we had kids with it us I do wish he would have recommended sharing because the portions are HUGE!

Yesenia Ramirez

There was a long line outside when we arrived however, it moved very quickly. I had the biscuit and gravy breakfast and it was the best I’ve ever had. My husband had the French toast plate and that was also very delicious. The only thing I expected more from were the potatoes. They were good but lacked a bit of flavor. I will definitely visit this place again!

Gregory Casill

Little poor for the I'll tell you the old guys were outstanding wish they always ask the next question and how can we serve you better would you like more coffee or whatever the case might be the new guys start talking to each other five to just to themselves that doesn't feel like customer service but the food was outstanding you should thank they made my

James Mayer

If a half serving is available. TAKE IT. Portions are huge. If you are alone or just two of you, there is likely room at the counter. Otherwise you will have a bit of a wait, particularly during breakfast hours. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED

Jorge Garcia

It's more like a 3.5. It's good diner food but I wouldn't wait an hour to eat here. Luckily it was slow and got seated when I showed up, but no more than 10 min later, a line of about 10 parties deep. Coffee was nice and hot and the service is super quick. You can tell people that have never been here (like myself) slow down the service because no one understands that the menu is on the wall, not at the table. It might be unconventional compared to the chains, but eh. The eggs and bacon were on point, the pancakes were nice and fluffy. And the sourdough that comes with the plate was tasty as well. The only thing I would say to pass on is the potatoes. They were just bland and in desperate need of seasoning. Or maybe it's the fact that they cook mountains of potatoes at a time that gave them the dull taste. If they cut back on the portion a bit and seasoned them, they would taste amazing with the crispyness from getting toasted on the flat top.

Derrill Dabkoski

I didn't like the bacon and cheese omlette. Too oily and they put way too much cheese and it was American cheese. Good portions though but I left like half my dish uneaten. Don't understand the line outside. Guess I should have ordered the pancakes.

R. Contreras , MA

Every time I am in LA, it is a must stop. Love sitting at the counter watching all the action. You must try the sourdough toast-first dipped in a side of sausage gravy, then save a slice for strawberry jam! Wonderful omelettes. Friendly service, quick, and delicious!!

John M. Lopez

Its' reputation is well deserved. Big portions and great service. Worth waiting in line

Sean Brannon

Haven't been here since I was a kid. Food was great. Service left a little to be desired. I am sorry basing that on my experience. The server we had never checked on us after delivering our order. Never asked if we needed refills. I did see a couple other servers were very attentive to their tables.

Allen Dell

This place was amazing and has so delicious food! Very old school and quick service. Our food was cooked to order and they got all of orders correct! When we left, our bellies were full, and still came home with a full to go box!

Payton Christensen

you won't be disappointed in the menu and service. service is typically great. it has a good feel to it. i can see why they have so many good reviews.

Pau Baiget

Must-visit breakfast in Downtown LA. All home-cooked, delicious!! And no matter how hungry you are, you'll be satisfied ;)

Kara Johnson

Great service and super fast turnaround. If you're looking for all-day breakfast options then skip the chain restaurants and come to this L.A. gem! Came with a group of 6 at 7pm and was seated quickly. By the time we left the line was around the corner. Everything moves quickly once you're sitting. Don't expect to come here and have a leisurely 2-hour meal! Pancakes are super delicious! Portion sizes are very generous and prices are reasonable for L.A. Validated Parking ($3) is available across the street on the corner.

Harriette Selbye

Food was absolutely delicious and affordable. It was mouth watering and has a lot of food to choose as well.Clean and well managed place with very friendly staff. This is great place to visit again.

Ricardo Sevilla

What makes this place different is the location....yes also historical....but the menu options of Steaks...cut potatoes....Slaw...and Bread...with coffee is kicking. Service impeccable...waiters at the ready...attentive...busy at all hours day and night. Next to everything center to Downtown Los Angeles...couple blocks from Staples Center. Get your steak cut on the Fly...Breakfast...Lunch...Dinner Options. It's a little pricy for a sit down...but worth every penny. Food is simply tasty. Cash Only!

Ronetta Andersen

The food was OK. The server forgot one of our chicken orders and said we'd have to wait quite awhile which was a bit frustrating so we cancelled that part of our order. I believe if she would have been paying attention and wasn't so distracted everything would have been better!

John Grein

It's been over 30 years since I've been there and I went through this last Sunday the coleslaw still amazing the steaks are delicious if you've never been there you need to go it's on the corner of 9th and Figueroa in downtown Los Angeles. You might be sitting there eating dinner especially later dinner and then we'll walk a movie star or movie starlette. You never know who's going to come in but the food is good the service is great 12 worth the cost which isn't bad either! It's nothing real fancy but their doors never close there is no lock on the front door even and it hasn't closed since I believe 1924. Definitely wheelchair accessible, and they have great parking right across the street in a parking lot for you. Make sure to validate your ticket inside of the original pantry and your parking will only run you $3. Will I go back? Well it's close to two and a half or three hours away from me but heck yes I will definitely go back when I get the chance!

Mare Tom

Cole Slaw. Bread and Butter. Sometimes it's the simple things in life that are the best. And once we found out we could ask for toasted bread, they was no turning back. Their bread is really good, but toasting it makes it AMAZING. We've been eating at the Pantry for years. Same old tables. Same chalkboard menus. Even some of the servers are the same! Back in the day it was all steaks and chops, and you tried not to gorge yourself on the bread and cole slaw cause you knew there was a big steak on the grill with your name on it. If we had the willpower, we'd walk out with a doggie bag with half our steaks and any bread that was left on the table. Most of the time, we stuffed ourselves with bread, slaw and our steak, and waddled home very satisfied but unable to move for a few hours. SO GOOD.

Jonathan Tennis

Jet lagged and hungry, I thought I’d be one of the first ones to be at the restaurant after the sunrise. I was wrong. Not sure how early you would have to get there to have the place to yourself but it was great to see a 24 hour diner hopping at 6am on a recent visit to LA. Ordered the eggs and potatoes breakfast (#2) and a coffee. Eggs needed a little kick but they were ready with some fresh salsa and some hot sauce. Coffee was everything a jet lagged brain needed. It’s a tourist destination so be prepared to wait if you go. It’s worth it.

Araceli Galey

First time customer orders delivery and is delighted! Wow, the chicken fried steak was delicious, juicy, tasty and oh so good, the habanero burger made my night, seriously good. But it was the Texas Fries that knocked my socks across the room, so very good, a must eat. Great food, must try.

jim stray

Absolutely love this place... great food and atmosphere... it's a regular stop whenever I'm in town

Connor Foster

Love the fresh hamburger and drink. Awesome atmosphere and nice, friendly service.

Mia Sommer

Awesome service and great food! This was our first time at the Pantry, but for sure not the last time. Absolutely loved the old school feel.

Amie Jay Willoughby

Ordered the French dip. When it came out it didn't have cheese, which it's not supposed to and I didn't know so when I asked for cheese to be put on it he replied snippy with "you didn't ask for cheese" it was very off putting. My friends philly CHEESE steak didn't have any either and we sent it back. When they brought both back out they didn't melt the cheese, they stuck 2 slices of cold cheese. My friends fish and chips came out as a burger so we sent that back to. The Arbys French dip sandwich is better btw.

Maira Luther

A friend of ours recommended this place. This is such a cute and old place. You can tell it has a lot of heart and tradition. We loved trying their Strawberry Pop Tart. I also loved my breakfast sandwhich. The pancakes looked incredible!

Kenny Diel

Prices are high I think but would recommend it, good service and biscuits and gravy are worthy

Ken D

Ate here years ago but still remember it. Great place for a very big no frills breakfast. Loved it.

Kally Richardson

OMG! The French toast was so delicious! The perfect way to end our trip to LA. Yummy!!

Cynthia Cedano

Love Love Love this spot! It is one of my favorites to stop by on my way to work, for lunch, and even for dinner! It is CASH ONLY so definitely make sure you stop by the ATM on your way. They do have an ATM inside, but of course they do charge ATM fees. The service is fairly quick and the staff are always friendly and efficient. This place gets crowded with a line waiting outside the door, so I would keep this in mind especially if you are going with a group as this place isn't very large. They do have a counter (diner style) where you can grab an available stool and begin to order. The menu has classic breakfast items - pancakes, french toast, fresh coffee, waffles, etc. Everything seems to always be made fresh and delicious. 100% one of my favorite dining places in LA.

oa plox

Food was good for the price, but service was horrible. This restaurant is an old, established institution so they know they can be rude and people will keep coming for the low prices, but I will personally never come there again.

Edwin Henriquez

Been there for 32 years the best food on town 24 hours open great service don't miss the breakfast served on seconds

김주현

I ordered beef tenderloin and the chicken salad (+coleslaw, bread, fried potatoes) and both of them were huge! (I guess it would be better if u order 2 dishes for 3 people.) The beef was delicious! I had to get a box for the salad as I was already full with the steak, but the chicken was really crispy and good. Highly recommended when u are staying in LA for a while. + the staffs were nice:)

Mari Brown

Heard fantastic things about this 24 hr diner, a little on the pricy side but you definitely get your money's worth. I ordered Pantry Patty melt. Wish I had enough room to try the deserts because they looked amazing. Our server Daisy was a total sweet heart. Would totally come here again.

Tyndell Hamel

Great value, great taste, great price and great service. Visit this place if you're in LA!

Sean S.

This is a staple of downtown classic Americana diner. there are no locks on the doors as this place does not close down. they only accept cash as the form of payment, and there is an ATM inside of the restaurant. Expect lines like traffic on the 110, early mornings Saturday USC football games, late night club goers, anything going on downtown will cause a line at this place. I highly recommend you wait in that line as the food will be worth it. their menu is normally written in chalk on the walls, and they do frequently run out of certain items throughout the course of the day. my go-to normally is the omelette and potatoes or the pancakes in the morning with the kids.

Sandi Beltran

Delicious! Totally! Huge portions and everything was good! No wonder its been there for so long!

Jannah lin Monteeron

What a great place for good food. Pancake here was so delicious and worth to wait. This is a busy place but it was all worth to wait.

vince ruiz

Great place for breakfast. Including an awesome Pantry's burger.

Celeste Galindo

Great food. Great prices. Great service. The lines do get a little long but they typically go by quickly. Parking is validated at the restaurant for 2-3 dollars for 1 1/2.

Minyeong Kim

The food tastes normal. But they gave a receipt even if we didn’t finish. It was so uncomfortable.

Alan Douglas

There was fast and courteous service. This place has a good atmosphere. Feels similar to a restaurant in Philadelphia that I enjoyed visiting.

Robert Kent DesRochers

An institution that one must try. Huge servings. Great staff. Good food. Cash only. Line ups often during brunch hours.

Giacomo Bonanni

I had good expectations. Sunny side up eggs, iced tea and wheat toasts were good, potatoes and bacon were disgusting, tasteless, overcooked. Service was ok. The location was crowded and noisy. The restroom was a bit dirty and located in front of the kitchen

Ebony Vasquez

Food was great and the service was very quick. Prepare for an outside line but on a monday I was in line for about 6 minutes before being seated. It was great !

Jaime Kelley

The food was amazing. Very limited choice but I think it's all good! I had the chorizo hash which was full of flavor and perfectly cooked hash browns. Really good coffee too.

Michael Owen

Great little greasy spoon!! My husband and I split the biscuits and gravy w/ eggs, potato’s and sausage. We also ordered a pancake and a side of bacon. It was definitely worth the super full belly and nap needed afterwards.

Janet Fields

It is just totally LA icon complete with the homeless juxtaposition with the high end luxury condos kitty corner to the whole in the wall diner with line all the way down the block. Jump in the counter line it is way faster and you get to watch the magic happen. Lol and the food is good

Mitesh Khoosal

An LA landmark with great food! It was worth the long line waiting. Portions are decent for the price and they take cash only.

Carlos R

This is one of the best places to ever get breakfast anytime of the day no matter what you must try this once in your life

Red Originals

Delicious food... Great service. Always a full house.

Jorge Robles

Cool place for breakfast and lunch... good food and service. The pantry will soon be 100 years old.

Penny Hightower

My first time ever after hearing so many good things about this place. I ordered eggs, potatoes, bacon and well my bacon was over cooked so I sent it back and it was delicious and the cook apologized profusely that I bad sending it back. They were very professional and it pleased me that the cook was very graciously apologizing. The coffee in my humble opinion was pretty bland and I am a coffee drinker. But otherwise I was definitely impressed and will definitely be returning!

Friendly staff, great customer service, we were seated right away, and the food was amazing. Overall a great experience.

I can only add my chorus to this clearly beloved diner. Service fast, no frills, large portions and cheap! Some of a more delicate disposition may feel it is a bit macho, pile 'em high and serve it straight, but that's what a diner should do. Loved it, 100%.

Renata King

Friendly servers. Quick service. Quality food. Worth the wait and the price. Love the potatoes and cole slaw.

Anita Rogers

A very good company - providing excellent fair trade food. The Kilombero rice is particularly amazing, but I like many of their spicy products too.

Thank you Michael! Delicious!! Great service. Awesome atmosphere and everything was a home run! A must when you are in Los Angeles!

Donald Reichert

Been going here for over 40 years. Overall, always a good experience. Love the ham and cheese omelet. Coffee (used to be free) is only 85 cents. Excellent wait staff. Pricier than before, but, so is everything else.

Dani Stephan Guerrero

Delicious food and great service every time we come here! It is always worth the wait. The peach cobbler is amazing!

Christina Jackson

Great service, open 24 hours, but the food was just okay

There is a reason this place is legendary. The last time I ate at the Pantry, Google was still a company working from a garage, but I wanted to take my wife and daughter who've never eaten here. Basically, the Pantry is about large portions for reasonable prices. Their breakfast is stuff of legend, but there other offerings are good too. But be prepared to wait, and bring cash because that's all they accept.

Elliot Swatik

The food was delicious. Great big pancakes for the price you're paying. The only reason I'm not giving this a 5/5 is because of the fact that they need to at least upgrade their space significantly. A small diner in the middle of downtown LA and a line out the door at 6-7am, you definitely need a bigger diner. The waiter rushed us with our order because of how many people were coming in and he was basically the only server there. This place definitely needs more waiters/waitresses and a bigger place and atmosphere for how many people love the place.

Terrell Bennett

This is obviously one of the finest place to eat in the region. Every time I go there I am truly happy. They hold their high standard service and the topmost level of meals they give. You will be always satisfied with this restaurant. Highly recommended.

Kenneth Bubar

Good old school restaurant, good serving sizes, but just kind of nostalgic at this point. Breakfast is real good, but it's more if tourist destination now. It has a super long breakfast line so prepare to wait a while.

Wonderful delicious excellent service cheap

Abigail Neal

This place was so delicious! Very old school and quick service. Our food was cooked to order and they got all of orders correct! When we left, our bellies were full, and still came home with a full to go box! Amazing old school breakfast! The best sourdough bread I've ever had!

Amado Carino

This is a wonderful place, fun and really good food. One of the landmarks since time immemorial that needs to be visited when you are in the area. The cole slaw that they serve is deliciously simple, not loaded with sugar. And, of course, anything that you order comes with the satisfaction that this place stood the test of time.

Harmon Simson

This is great place to visit and try their delicious food.A fantastic place for an authentic American breakfast. The portions are huge and delicious. Staff were attentive and friendly.

Precious Birds

It has a cool vibe and back in the day feel. But the restaurant is too small as far as the sitting go. The prices are a bit expensive for certian things. Over all good customers service. It will get loud when you go especially it's you go 1 or 2 in the morning. This place only takes cash and have a atm available if you dont have any.

Latanya Walker

The best! I sat at the counter, so didn’t have to wait, but the short line seemed to move quickly. I had a #3 with bacon, eggs, French toast and potatoes. Every single bite was delicious and the bacon was absolutely perfect. The staff was very friendly and professional, the atmosphere was laid back and I felt completely comfortable eating solo. It’s cash only, which I didn’t realize, so be prepared but there’s an atm in the restaurant and a Wells Fargo nearby. Highly recommend.

I came to know about this as the oldest breakfast place and one of the tourist attractions. We went on a weekday so it was not that busy and we were seated immediately. I took so many pictures. There were many pictures inside too. As soon as we entered, we realized everything has been maintained the sameway since it opened in 1924. They accept only cash. As we sat down, more people kept coming in. The chef at the grill was cooking so many items(probably ~20 items) at once like a machine. We ordered the following items Pancakes -- Best pancakes I've ever had. French toast -- Delicious Hot chocolate -- Good Every item we ordered was simple, yet delicious.. Best tasting breakfast food in downtown LA at an affordable price. P.S. DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER..!

Arturo Armenta Ramirez

A fantastic restaurant located in Los Angeles Downtown, with a precise of very rich food, with excellent service and accessible prices, the visit will be incredible like the actors and singers. of EU and international recognition was speeching here. In a pleasant atmosphere to meet with friends or visit alone.

Lines are long and food is expensive but it’s a great greasy spoon diner That’s been I’m DTLA for just about forever, and they never close. There isn’t even a lock On the front door. Worth the wait.

Craig Baker

Inscription: The Original Pantry, opened in 1924, moved to present location in 1950. Never closed since opening. City of Los Angeles Historic Monument Number 255.

Had to wait for about 15 mins to get in at 11am on a Friday but from reading the reviews that was to be expected. The server was rushed but he was super friendly! Easily the best breakfast I’ve ever had. Huge portion sizes at a cheap cost. Great atmosphere in the place too. Will definitely be back whenever I’m in LA.

Miguel Martinez

I've been coming here since the Olympics in 1984 when I was a kid. I've introduced nearly everyone I know to this restaurant. I tell them " Best Pancakes and coffee IN THE UNIVERSE"

Rick S.

Still great food and atmosphere. Been coming here for decades. My dad brought me when I was a kid.

Charles Walker

Open 24/7 Always great food and service. Mayor Reardon bought this old 100 years old Pantry and has kept it a great place to go to. Large portions enough to split with a date. Prices are high but worth it. The sell old style coffee cups $6.00.

Amanda Evert

Our waiter has been working here for 30yrs! He was amazing and so was the food. The bread with honey is a freakin great! I could've eat just that!

Tammy Harris

The administration is astounding and it is a decent quite place for lunch directly. I would suggest reserving a spot, it gets occupied at noon. The food is not cheap however you get exceptionally new, delectable fixings flawlessly arranged.

Jerome Shannon

Normally I would have posted a pic but food looked so good I couldn't stop. Looking forward to coming back with my relatives. It has a nice feel to it.

Bagrat Utegenov

Good place to have breakfast/lunch/dinner here. Ususally there is a queue outside, you'll have to wait from 10-20 min. There are days when no queue and you can enjoy your food. Very friendly personnel, food is delicious and atmosphere is authentic. Must visit place.

Souhaila El-Souki

This is such an ICONIC classic place that you have to visit if you are looking for delicious comfort food in Downtown LA! It was built in the 30's. The service is great-the whole waitstaff is very kind and friendly. you get really big portions-so it's great to come with an appetite. We had the roast beef, and it usually comes with mashed potatoes and veggies so we got that-also coleslaw. They give you this amazing grilled bread(with butter) to go with your meal. Most meals come with two sides. It's like a hidden gem-a great classic old school diner.Interesting note: there is a little area where you can still see the original 30's flooring right next to the cash register. Really loved it! Make sure to bring cash, as it is cash only.

Christopher Garcia

Best breakfast in DTLA. Always worth the wait! ***FYI...Only takes cash***

Miguel A Herrero

Real food, fair prices and very good service in a real historical LA landmark.

jackie burke

Amazing late night meal! Service fantastic and food was so tasty - had another meal next day!

Margien Bates

Great casual vibe with a slight hipster feel here. I love that I can enjoy some healthy breakfast and lunch options while also getting work done thanks to their free WIFI! Yay! Their turkey on pretzel croissant is delicious and their oatmeal is really yum... super pretty and super filling. I also love the vegan donut options they have here too. Everyone who works here is super chill and very nice! I'll definitely be back!

David Flores

The OPC is less than a five minute walk from the JW Marriott. I went at normal breakfast hours. If you are looking for good, quick greasy spoon food, this is the place to go in the area. OJ was expensive but fresh squeezed, which was a great surprise. -1 star as they don't have menus (everything is on boards at the front of the restaurant) and they are cash only.

Emily Long

I finally made my way in here and I did indeed go for Burger Day on a Tuesday. It was well worth the 40 minute wait. Make sure to order fast and don't keep up the line. Be sure to go next door for a beer or two at Toronado's while you wait for the cheapest and tastiest burger in SF! Charlie will even throw a little chili on your burger if you ask nicely. I'm gunna have to go back for an actual sausage next time.

Michael Sobien

Old-timey diner atmosphere. The prices seemed high until we got the food, the huge portion sizes definitely justified the price. I would rate higher, but its 2019 and the place is cash only.

Dennis Schulgen

Always great service super portions and history that's never ending. Sourdough toast is a must! Never a bad meal here!!!
