Classic mom and pops diner. Could tell it was a popular local place but they were very welcoming to tourists. Food was amazing and there were so many different menu ideas to pick from. I would recommend their homemade biscuits with some butter and jam. Definitely an old fashion place with the decor but who cares if the food is as good as it is!

We had a great breakfast in this place as a family. The service was very good and we were warned upfront to not order to much for the kids, as the portions are huge, and boy, they are. Without having asked for it our leftovers (from the kids mainly) had been packed for us in doggy bags to enjoy later. The big surprise came with the bill at the end. We had a combination of breakfast and lunch with a family of 4 and payed less then 40$, incl. the drinks. I would love to go there again, hopefully next time ...

The wait is horrible. 10 minutes after getting a table a waitress finally asked for our order of drinks. Then I'm told my food won't start cooking til 11am since a few orders were ahead of mine (only one table was being served, the rest were already served/eating) I had already been there going on 20 minutes and was fed up with the service. Spend $10 on a lemonade, iced tea, and 2 children's servings of chocolate milk. Definitely will not be stopping by this establishment next time I'm in town.

Great service! Second visit and was even better this time. Arrived about an hour before closing. Got a table right away despite it being a busy holiday. Really could not choose so my server offered many helpful suggestions. Decided on a western omelette, country potatoes, and biscuit. This is a real omelette, my friends. Generous amount of sauteed ingredients folded inside the egg mixture. Not a pile of stuffed dumped on top of some scrambled eggs as SO many other places call an omelette. Country potatoes were OK. Looked like pan fried slices of unpeeled russets. Could have benefitted from the addition of onions and bell peppers. Didn't see the hash browns served to anyone so I can't compare. Biscuit was not THE one I'm searching for. Not awful, not great. Didn't crumble apart when I added butter. Bland taste and texture. Sadly, so many restaurants consider a biscuit as merely a vessel for gravy. Blasphemy! A good biscuit is a delicious work of art. Flavor, texture, temperature all have to be just right to achieve biscuit perfection. If you've ever had a good homemade buttermilk biscuit hot out of the oven, you know what I mean. Nothing else is good enough. Anyway, service was great as I said. Server (whose name I failed to get) was patient, informative, helpful. I feel like I got more than my money's worth. Spent under $12 for a good meal and great service. My only complaint is they close at 2pm! Really wish they would stay open later, especially on a holiday.

This restaurant is alright, but not great. Their eggs do not have a great taste, a sign that they do not source them well. The steak they cooked was overdone. Their bacon was pretty good, though. The service was adequate, but they didn't go over the top to make sure you were always attended to. This may have been due to understaffing for such a busy time. I'm not sure if I would come back to this place for breakfast, but I would be willing to try their lunch.

We were looking for a good place for breakfast and saw the reviews for Carla's. we were not disappointed. The staff was friendly, the gift shop was a fun place full of gifts waiting to go home with us. The food was delicious and good size portions! French toast and the ham and cheese omelets were both cooked perfectly! Totally recommend this place for breakfast!! Come early, parking lot is small. but this place is well worth the effort!

I gotta say I was a little disappointed. But first the good stuff.... The staff was very nice. The restaurant is very clean. The outdoor seating was great in this amazing November weather! My disappointment was the breakfast itself. I ordered the Bacon & Cheese Omelet and paid extra to add avocado. Although the omelet was stuffed with bacon I could neither taste or see any cheese and there was a few very thin slices of avocado on top....none in the omelet. The side of bacon was sat on my table completely cold and almost too burnt to eat. I sent it back asking for some warm bacon....well, less than a minute later I was given back the same bacon obviously microwaved. Halfway through my breakfast I had to remind my waitress to please bring me my toast....and if that was a large milk I would hate to see what the "small" looks like. Had my hopes up but I think I will stick with Kitty's when in Morro Bay for breakfast. I still give 4 stars for the friendliness of both staff and patrons and the nice outdoor patio. In response to the owner's response, the bacon I got back was the same bacon I sent back-not newly cooked bacon and I never said anything about slow service. ?????

We stopped here on our way to Big Sur and it was one of the best breakfast places we ever been too!! You get soo much food for the price and all of it was delicious. We unfortunately got stuck in the town overnight due to car problems so we ended up eating breakfast here both days. We tried the banana pancakes, french toast meal, and the second day we had eggs with bacon / sausage and muffins! The people were super sweet here too. Highly recommend it!

The customer service was spot on and the waitresses were friendly. I ordered a sausage, egg and cheese scramble which came out fairly quickly. We also ordered the looney and that was delicious as well. It's one of their most popular dishes. The only negative thing I will mention is that if you ask for gravy with your biscuit, they charge you $3, which was not worth it at all. They gravy tasted off, as I'm not sure what they used to make their mix (maybe ham?). I know it wasn't sausage. The gravy wasn't worth the money.

We like to road trip, & visited the area from out of town, and brought our three dogs with us just as we usually do on road trips. We almost always order food to go so we can eat while parked with a nice view, and dont have to leave the dogs alone in the car. We first stopped for breakfast at another restaurant that was recommended to us, but they "dont have time for to-go orders". We found Carla's on Google and they were happy to accommodate us. The staff was polite and cheerful, they didn't mind my special requests on the orders, and the food was delicious. I had a delicious birthday breakfast sitting by the harbor with my husband and pups. They also have a cute little gift shop that I walked around while waiting for my order.

On a road trip from the UK, and Morro Bay does not feature on many itineraries. However, Carla's does the best breakfasts on the Pacific Coast with efficient and welcoming servers. Fully recommended.

The food is ok. Only their orange juice cup is the smallest I've ever seen and 2.50? Too much money for so small amount. Not fresh squeezed either to at least justify the price. And the hot chocolate that's about the same price, is really instant hot cocoa. No milk what so ever. Waffle was not hot and no taste. Their french toast was good. One day blueberry muffins were brought hot. The next day they were brought to us cold. One waitress was attentive and the next day a different younger one was not. No refill on the coffee.

The food matches the price. I suggest not straying from the classic choices on the menu. They know how to cook eggs, potatoes, biscuits and gravy. Their hamburgers ain't bad either. But other than that, not impressed. It's an older building and I don't recommend lunch on a warm day.

The texture is all wrong -- dense and cakey. The biscuits and gravy was a miss. - Country Fried Steak is more like...a breaded hamburger meat patty? It was a little tough and dry, but the gravy saved the day. - Hash browns are chunky, mushy, and bland. We even requested "extra crispy" and it was pretty moist and limp. It needed seasoning and texture. -
