I've been here a few times and every time it's been amazing. They source as much of their ingredients from local farms as possible and you can really taste the freshness. Sunday brunch you will have to wait for sure but that's because the place is so amazing. They have a special that they rotate through and if you don't get there early they will sell out. One of such specials, chicken and waffles, is the best I've ever had. This most recent time I split a main menu item: the ham, egg and cheese biscuit and it is incredible. We had a side of bacon and a single pancake. The Wisconsin syrup is phenomenal, just wow. We had a mimosa each with fresh squeezed orange juice. I would recommend and will be back.

Anna Negrete

Have been twice now and love both breakfast and lunch! Soooooo tasty and all home grown or locally sourced. I'm not a super "natural" person but I can taste the difference here. So good!

Julie Sauls

Food was actually lovely. Place is a little tight inside, ingress & egress is confusing and tiny. It's a very cute, casual place. It's a little confusing if you're new. Wait in line to place your order, then take your identifying order marker (they're all about the local farms) and find a place to sit down. They'll find your identifier & bring the food to you. If you order water, you get it yourself. Locally sourced foods. Unique flavors.

We had an event last night and there was a confusion as to what we were picking up last night. The event had just started and Kevin personally called and told us there was a mix up. He made sure the cookies got delivered at our venue. This is called outstanding service! Thank you to the Root and it's staff. Oh and by the way, one of the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever had.

Kaitlyn Sheehan

Our first visit, and it was amazing! My husband had the pimento burger, and it was comparable to the Gordon Ramsey burgers in Vegas! Great taste and quality. I had one of the bratwurst (with sauerkraut), and it was above-average. Service was quick, and the food was perfect temperature for immediate consumption!

Mary M

This place is awesome. I prefer to eat locally sourced food and freshly made meals. I'd you don't like to eat a lot of processed food, this is the place for you

Nancyann Ariciu

Love that it's all as locally sourced as possible. Very reasonably priced, and delicious food! The sweet potato fries were especially good.

kristi hall

Lovely space . Yummy lunch , unique deli service style. They do high volume on weekends so get there with a bit if time to spare . Very pleased .

Christopher626

Great food and great service! Pretty trendy feel - and dog friendly (separate seating patio outside)

Komal Mehra

Seriously, they have THE BEST food in Little Rock! I’ve come here countless times salivating over their food and the food has been delicious literally every.single.time. Their pimento cheeseburger is to die for, and their bass special is delicious. AND they have you eat healthy with their delicious salads! I normally don’t even like salads. If you’re cooking right now...just stop, get your car keys, and drive to the root cafe, you won’t regret it.

Andy Hemphill

Visited Roots for a late breakfast and enjoyed a tofu scramble with side salad. For me, it's an odd combination, but it works. Very nice outdoor seating. (Wasn't hot yet)

Araceli Garcia

Unique and delicious meal options. I love the variety and the flavors, everything hasta las side salads was superdelicioso. So much so that my friend and i bought their homemade salad dressing before we left! We had their shitake burger, aaamazing, and grilled cheese - so yummy. Coffee and chocolate chip cookie also hit the spot!! This spot is small and local, getting all of their produce and beverages locally as well which was awesome. The decor is very eclectic, and it was BUSY when we went on a Saturday afternoon. This didn't impact negatively much on our service though! Only thing i really noticed was that it sometimes took the servers a long time to find the table to bring the food to, as i saw them walking in circles several times.. But when we got our food it wasn't cold or anything. Very accomodating people and cool spot to eat and chill.

Paul Chaveriat

Cool and tasty cafe! Shiitake burger and chicken salad sandwich both yum.

Frances Powell

The Root was for years the Sweden Cream where almost 50 years ago I ate lunch every day while working down the street. The Root is a long way from that old dairy bar! A bit upscale and a bit funky, the Soma District is a happening place and we found the food both well priced and tasty. The meat loaf is a cant miss!

Timothy Saltmarsh

Really good food, clean facilities but staff is impolite and a bit snobby.

Jamy Magro

Stopped by this place for breakfast. It is a order and then sit down place. The eggs were really good and the toast was multigrain wheat. The orange juice was a very good and tasted fresh squeezed. If you are looking for a good place for breakfast that is somewhat healthy for you this is the place.

Agustin Maximo

Great food, atmosphere, service, prices.

Rob Glu

Its like southern home food.... But also gourmet, healthy, and filling! Loved this place and will certaintly return next time im in town.

Alexis Harris

Cute place. I like the dog patio. I like how homey the restaurant feels. From the stickers on the walls to the fresh flowers on the table. Would recommend.

Timothy Hefflinger

Bustling place with excellent food. The desserts are also very good.

Denise Taylor

So awesome! Saw this on Diner's, Drive ins & Dives and it did not disappoint. Service was great and food was even better.

Kim Tillinghast

Great food. Fun atmosphere

Julia Earl

Cool vibe. Food was ok. Extremely long wait.

Hilary Nicole

I had the hot chicken and it was absolutely amazing! Excellent service and waitstaff. My daughter and I had been on the road all day from Nashville and she was just a bit wound up. We sat right up front in the waiting/busing area and the entire staff was gracious with us.

Nicholas Romano

With its outdoor seating, eclectic interior, and tasty food, people have reported it's like eating at their grandma's. I wouldn't know, b/c I don't have one. Can say its lovely having fresh made to order breakfast compared to brand restaurants...also a plus that ingredients are local. Despite a lot of people on Easter Sunday, got food in a decent amount of time. Would love to check out their lunch and dinner.

Jeff Lindberg

Fun and funky with great food and employees. All the sandwiches are great especially the chicken curry. Busy place.

K T

This place is fantastic. It’s exactly what a breakfast sandwich should be. Their jelly is the best I’ve ever had.

Jennifer Martorelli

Burger was good. Fried green tomatoes on the specials board were AMAZING! Sweet potatoes fries were burnt. Desserts looked like the way to go. Cute & eclectic place & cool wall mural. Overall, it didn't live up to the hype.

Emilie

Best bread pudding I've ever had. Great atmosphere. Nice little local place.

Michelle Cleveland

My favorite place in Little Rock. Cool seating outdoors. Food never disappoints!

Bill Jenkins

I've been here twice. The first time was golden. No one in line, ordered quickly and my breakfast arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The eggs were delicious and were probably the largest ones I've had. The next time I visited was a Sunday at about 9:00 when they open. I arrived early but there were already ten people ahead of me. I then think to myself, do I want to wait another 10 minutes until they open the door and wait for the people in front of me? Nope. I pass.

Jesse Hanson

Easily one of the best meals of my life. I travel 50% of the year for work, so I get to check out a lot of restaurants around the country. Appetizers: The veggie cracklings’ had our entire table thinking it was real pork skin....we ordered two entrees of the spicy fried chicken for the table, ( and immediately ordered two more ). The deviled eggs were some of the best I’ve had (sorry grandma). THE CORNBREAD 10/10 Entrees: The Country Fried Tofu w/ mashed potatoes and vegan gravy was wild. I was full from the appetizers, but still was able to devour the entire plate. The shiitake mushroom entree left some of the meat eaters at the table lost for words. Recap: EAT HERE IMMEDIATELY

Edward Turner

Too happening of a place for me. Took over a hour to get 3 burgers after we ordered. Food was good but certainly not worth the wait.

Sally Pierce

Never disappoints!! Good food and good prices!!

Malinda Godwin

Great food, fresh and tasty. Definitely a natural style. Claims locally sourced ingredients and no reason to not believe the hype.

James Dunham

Loved the Dante's Inferno Burger.

Skylar Spencer

Came with a big group, and they brought the food out fast, double checking to make sure everything is alright. Vegetarian and Vegan friendly. Quaint little restaurant.

Jerad Gardner

Easily the best biscuits and gravy I have ever had. Owned by two lovely people who take pride in their work and their food. One of my go to restaurants in Little Rock.

Elaine Brown

Excellent

libby woodard

Consistently great food. Quality ingredients done right!

Chelsey Williams

Wow- so glad we stopped here. Really neat place with an awesome atmosphere and the food was really great! Def stop by if you’re running through town.

Januarie Wood

I like the atmosphere and the people and the food is pretty good most of the time. I wish they had more vegan options

Matthew Kull

This is probably Little Rock's best kept secret. It is now my favorite place to eat lunch. Absolutely terrific!

Riley Lucas

The line can be long on the weekend but it moves fast and it is always with the wait! My favorite place to eat in Little Rock!

Hamish McCullough

Never disappoints. A great standby.

Liz Barton

Great food and fast service, don't let the long line fool you. The pimento cheese burger is delicious, salty and sweet with a little spice. The mixed greens are a tasty and healthy side. Locally sourced food so its fresh.

Jonathan Dranoff

Best breakfast in Little Rock - bar none. The Root proves that paying close attention to ingredients and preparation is more important than having shiny new fixtures. Quality matters to The Root, and its customers love that quality.

Jason Smith

Can't get enough of this place. Locally sourced products and a great menu and staff. If you haven't gone, go!! They will not disappoint.

George Robertson

Good breakfast. Be ready to stand in line!

Eric Sanchez

This place is great! It has a very relaxed environment and delicious food :) Can't wait to go back!

RenVArt

The root cafe aquires their ingredients from local sources, and you can definitely tell by how delicious it tastes! I had the egg sausage and cheese biscuit with a blueberry muffin and bacon. The food has a homecooked at Grandma's house look and taste and the atmosphere is inviting. Everyone there was very nice, I will be going back to try lunch sometime!

Eric Cooper

This is a very cool local joint. I had a great burger when I was there. They also work with Heifer Project which is near and dear to my heart, great job guys!

Amy Machado

The meals are not comparable to anything my family and I have ever tried, but quite delicious!! The food is unique, the combination of ingredients, etc. is just quite unique. Cute, and cozy atmosphere.

Damon Steele

Don't be in a hurry. 20 people in line at Saturday lunch and only 1 order taker/cashier. Which results in 20+ minute waits for a burger. Food tasted OK but I expected more after the hype.

Ashton

I love this place! It's like eating in someone's backyard, it's great. Friendly staff, amazing food, really cool drinks, and a very laid back atmosphere. Almost everything they serve comes from local farms. Expect to spend about $20 on a lunch with a drink but it is well worth it for the quality of food.

Wayne Owens

Was in Little Rock on a work trip and saw The Root on TA. Tried it and loved the atmosphere and food! Went back again a few days later. Tried the sausage egg and cheese biscuit breaks fast sandwich and loved it. Second time got the parfait and some coffee! My two coworkers also enjoyed the food and tried something different the second time we came in!

Becky Curtis

I have had breakfast, lunch and dinner at The Root. Each service is unique and amazingly delicious. For breakfast, you HAVE to try the donut muffins. Then eat a real breakfast. But get the donut muffins. Lunch - everything is good but their burger is top notch. Get the eggplant fries with fresh made ranch dip. AMAZING. Just go anytime and eat anything.

stephen roach

Best Part of waking up is a SoMa Morning at The Root. I had the Root Benny last time I was in and it made my morning. Such a nice place to have a morning meeting or reflect on the patio. Love The Root.

Jason Carter

A neat vibe. The food was good, but not what I expected. "Chicken and dumplings" was more like chicken noodle soup. The sazerac tasted like straight absinthe. They replaced with an old fashioned that was well made. Credit card machine wasn't working. Employees were very friendly.

James Claypoole

The Root Cafe is one of the best places to dine in Little Rock. This was our first trip to dinner. Now we know for sure that both brunch and dinner are excellent!

April

Authentic people and food. One of my favorite places in central Arkansas. The line is always out the door (which is always a good sign). Fresh, unique food and their seating area has expanded immensely over the years. Their breakfast sandwiches (smothered in gravy) are one of the best breakfast dishes I’ve had. The line is typically moderate to long, so expect to wait a bit to place your order...it’s worth it.

Kelly Broadus

I will have to go back sometime. The wait was too long. The place has a wonderful atmosphere and the food we ordered was good. But not worth the wait or price. Once the hipe from Triple D is over and it settles back down to a normal crowd, it will be a nice place to go with friends. The servers and staff where great, but buried under the crowd. We had the special, and I do want to go back sometime and try some of the regular menu items. The cafe adds to the areas sense of community.

Chris Haugen

The root never disappoints. It's a great choice for lunch, dinner or brunch

Brennan Barkley

The best veggie friendly restaurant in town - amazing lunch and love the fresh, local food.

Benjamin Shapleigh

Best omelet West of the Mississippi! A real earthy, granola type of place. All that being true, still has an excellent tasty menu including local artisan beer

Carol

Superb food and friendly service in a relaxed, artsy atmosphere. THE BEST BURGER EVER, lots of vegan/vegetarian choices, Mexican Coke! Something for everyone without sacrificing quality. If only there was more than one restroom!

Dean Ehrenheim

I went to Root Cafe because I saw it on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. The food and atmosphere were good. I can't say it was anything really special, but I only had two items, fried green tomatoes and pimento burger. Both were cooked well, but nothing special. However, the relaxed, back-porch atmosphere, clothe napkins, jar glasses all add to a comfortable "grandma's table" atmosphere. The farm to table concept is good. I would go back for the novelty, but not just for the food. It's worth visiting and you can decide for yourself.

Eric Nystrom

Love this little place. Great from scratch food, sourced locally, sweet and charming atmosphere. I go out of my way to stop here when I come to LR! Gluten free options are great!

Jan Cam

Awesome healthy menu. Fresh veggies from local sources. Food and service great in a totally casual place.

Matthew McArthur

Horrible service. Seemed to be a cool place but after being seated never saw a server for 40 minutes so our entire group left

Rebecca Stansfield

We had a great time here. The food was delicious and it was a great atmosphere. The one negative about it was that we had to wait but I guess that means the place is just popular.

Jessica Taggart

Small restaurant, but it's comfy. Ordered the Cheeseburger with Swiss cheese and a small fry. Both were really good! The burger came with a side salad instead of the fries which was different for me, but I enjoyed the salad as well. Everything was locally grown & everything was fresh. You could taste the freshness in all the food which was a big plus for me. Only put 4 stars because the service & order of everything was odd. You just grab your own menu, seat yourself(even thought the sign says wait to be seated), & then instead of a waiter coming to take your order, you go back to the front and order(or you could stand in the front until you decide.).

Amanda Hamilton

Very cute cafe! Came here for dinner with a friend- I had a bratwurst, and it was delicious! I love how everything is healthy, and the atmosphere is very cute and laid back. Definitely want to come back to try the breakfast!

Kyle Parris

Great vibe, cozy patio and fantastic food. Staff was extremely accommodating and friendly.

Aaron Spiegle

It was my first time in Little Rock and from googling reviews of best breakfast places I heard of this spot. I definitely recommend it for homemade breakfast and quality Arkansas-roasted coffee. It is counter service but was still friendly and helpful.

Constantin Jessen

Every time I come to Little Rock, I at least stop by once. The food is always fresh and delicious, staff always friendly and forthcoming, and the atmosphere is very charming. I have been ordering the Seitan and Tofu dishes which are a prime example on how to cook vegan dishes right. By far my favorite restaurant in Little Rock.

John Kordsmeier

There might be a long wait to get food but there is a good reason, its totally worth it!

Joel Gunnels

Amazing curry chicken salad! Lines were long and process is a little slow, but very friendly staff. Worth the wait!

Kristine Lilly

Great locally sourced food. I am from Austin, Texas, and this place felt "like home". :)

Brandy Dailey

Seating is really hard to come by, especially when its busy. The food isn't bad, but definitely aimed at the healthier side with lots of vegan and vegetarian options. Very quirky little cafe, and a great spot for those looking for vegan/veg. options.

Lance Lockwood

Cool place to grab a bite with an eclectic vibe. Their coffee is great so if you go for breakfast make sure you get some. Seating is kinda tight and the line can get pretty long so I advise that you go earlier than later to avoid peak times.

Aden Wilson

Great place, a "hippy" vibe but delicious locally sourced food and plenty of vegetarian options! Worth checking out. Reasonable prices, fresh yummy food. Worth it!

Eddie Carroll

There are so many restaurants that are try hard and offer shock flavors and under deliver on quality. This is not one of those places. The food has subtlety complex flavors in a well-balanced dish. Everything I ate was interesting and nothing was overpowering.

Chris McCoy

This is a little slice of awesomeness. I have enjoyed both the breakfast and lunch menus and would highly recommend visiting this restaurant. Even the unique set up is something to catalog in the memories of our brains. Get out there and see what all the hub bub is about.

ItzNatalie 123

Found a maggot crawling around in my peach, sodas are warm, we have to wait for the waitress to come open our drinks, I do not recommend eating here

Jordan Butler

Perhaps my favorite biscuits in town. Breakfast is legit. Superb pancakes. For those who don't do well in small spaces, you may find yourself cramped as the place gets busier (and it will get busier). The outdoor seating may be the way to go, if that's the case.

Polly Torres

I was visiting family in Little Rock this weekend and since I eat a plant based diet they recommended The Root Cafe. The restaurant is very eclectic. It has a very laid back vibe. I ordered the Purple Hulled Peas and cornbread. The meal came with a wonderful salad on the side. It was very good and the portion size was just right. Since we were there for the weekend it was recommend by family that we also try breakfast at The Root. So we headed back Saturday morning.

Kathryn Anderson

This eatery was recommended by a local and she did not steer me wrong. This place is not only quaint and adorable, with its outdoor space that resembles your own backyard, but the food is delicious. My only complaint is the wait for my food was unusually long and I was not warned that it would take over 30 mins. If you’re in a hurry, be sure to ask how long the wait will be, otherwise simply enjoy your handcrafted cocktail on their quirky patio while you wait. My Egg Salad Sandwich and Greyhound Fizz were great. Highly recommend if you’re in Little Rock!

jon gerusa

This place has a very homey feel to it even though its smack center of downtown. The service was great, I specifically liked how I got to interact with about 3 different employees who were all personable and willing to give me a good experience. The recommendations were on point with the in house made mango tea and cheeseburger. I had a pea soup that was awesome and the sweet potato fries were cooked perfectly.

Jeremy Shapley

Awesome local farm to table restaurant with local beer and organic wine. Burger here is the best in town..love this place. Wish they second location in West Little Rock....

Derek Carttar

Great food and great service from friendly people. There's often a long line but it moves quickly. Please don't try to sit before you order. Sometimes, an inconsiderate customer will leave the line to save a table. That person usually gets jumped in the parking lot.

Francesco Russo

Delicious dinner. Spicy fried chicken was a very unique flavor. Staff told me it's a north African Curry flavor. Loved it. Have also been here for breakfast. Loved both visits, and they're a few years apart so it's definitely consistent

George B

Amazing! My son & I got the pamento cheese burgers & they were awesome. The staff was great too. It was raining &the owner opened early and personally welcomed my son and I to get us out of the rain. The waitress also made us feel at home. I will come back here anytime I'm able to get back to LR.

Kate H

The food was rather greasy and heavy. I appreciate the organic methods and sustainable use of cloth napkins, but 13.00 for a burger is nuts in Little Rock. But I do prefer helping local business than large chains. I was pretty split about this place, it's not really good for families as it has a very cramped seating arrangement as well. We were also very disappointed that we could not order breakfast, because the place was recommended to us for it's breakfast menu.

Bethany Wallace

My favorite eatery. I am allergic to mammal meat, and that can make for frustrating dining experiences. I can always find lots of incredibly delicious, rich, and healthy options at The Root. I love meeting friends there. It's cozy and invokes "be here now." I leave feeling like I had an experience, not a meal.

J B Cross

The new addition is very comfortable. The food is local, natural and great! It would be a five star, except for the fact that you have to stand in line to order, then find a table.

John McIntyre

If you’re seeking a home cooked, 1950’s styled breakfast, that only a loving grandmother could prepare, eat here!! Ignore the limited parking, long serving line, and limited seating, because this restaurant is well worth it. I ordered 3 “sunny side up” eggs, 3 buttermilk pancakes, 4 “rabbit fed” sausage patties, country ham, a full order of bacon, and a large freshly squeezed orange juice. Every single item that I ordered was perfectly prepared, tasted fresh (not “commercial” like IHOP), and of enormous portions. I ordered a lot of food because I thought the portions would be small, but they believe in feeding you here. I can’t even begin to explain how fresh the orange juice was; therefore, I’ll just say that it was delicious. The pancakes, well, they melt in your mouth and hold syrup oh so perfectly. I don’t know if those sausages were truly “rabbit fed,” but I wish I could have robbed them of their entire supply (joke, but they were awesome). The prices will remind you that you’re not at McDonald’s, but I’d pay for good quality dining any day. Go eat!!

Jeremiah Fleeman

I've been to The Root Cafe a handful of times. They do almost everything right. The food is delicious, the atmosphere matches perfectly with the funky vibes SOMA is known for, and the customer service is great. My one gripe is a minor one - the prices are a little steep for what you get. But it's not a big enough drawback to lower my rating to 4 stars.

Chantelle Myers

This place is one of the coolest places I've eaten in little rock. The food is amazing! We went for brunch last Sunday and I was not disappointed. When we arrived the line was in the parking lot, however, it was well worth the 30 min wait to order! We will for sure be back.

Ingletaryns Seidelt

We always come for the outdoor seating. Love the food, service and ambiance.

Ted Parkhurst

The Root Cafe has grown up! A fe years ago when I visited there was little in the menu of interest, but today I fond a much-expanded offering with tasty delights from fresh-squeezed OJ to breakfast platters that looked scrumptious. I’m glad I came back!

Amy Weber

Passing through the area and relied on prior reviews of this place. They did not disappoint! Wait was lengthy as they make everything fresh and it was quite busy for a Sunday morning but I thought it was worth the wait. Plan on stopping by on our way back to try some lunch!

M. E. L.

Thanks to Guy Fieri and DDD, we found out about this Little Rock gem. Everything was Great - Atmosphere, Service, Food. We will be back!

James Kolbert

Multiple visits here, I highly recommend it. Not over-priced, excellent food all around. Vegan options aplenty if you need them, great service, clean bathroom and tables. Outdoor area for kids to play. If I lived closer I would eat here all the time.

Dan Miller

Great food and the friendliest service!

Shaneece Gray

This place is very affordable and the food tastes amazing.

Christina Broadus

Friendly service and the food was fresh and really good. Due to the popularity wait time on food is really long. Waited over an hour.

Michael Berry

Had lemonade which was delicious. Served in a mason jar and adorned with a slice of lemon. Curry cauliflower was the soup of the day. It was just so so. I couldn't tell but it seemed a cashew cream was used in the soup. Again I'm not sure on that. Bottom line it was full of curry but oddly had a flat flavor. Not sure how to describe it. It was like only the curry was there and no other flavors not even the cauliflower. Deviled egg sandwich was to die for. Served on what I would describe as a heavenly bun it was delicious. Just a small hint of dill in the background. 5 stars on the deviled egg sandwich for sure. In spite of the soup, I would go back and recommend the Root Cafe.

A Samm

DELICIOUS! Fresh from the garden, literally. Loved it.

Beth Tunturi

Awesome food and service tax decent prices.

Kylar Anderson

Great place! All ingredients locally sourced! Food was amazing and great prices! Friendly people! And very kid friendly!

Wesley Garnes

Great food. Great drinks. Lots of options. Very local. Lots of small businesses nearby. A very local vibe to it. I'd recommend this place highly for Sunday brunch. Needs better AC or insulation. Service was decent and decently quick.

Stacy Pennington

Excellent place for a lazy lunch on the patio. Good vegan options, friendly staff, and a relaxed vibe.

Dalia Hashad

Incredible, inventive, delicious food! Chef and staff care deeply about what they put on the plate and how it got there and it shows. Great relationships with local farmers and they can tell you where all of their food is sourced. One of my favorite dining experiences ever in my life. I can't wait to come back to Little Rock and eat here again.

Clark Hunter

Great food from scratch, farm to table restaurant! The Curry Chicken salad sandwich is incredible!! Even the bread they use was fresh, soft and delicious! The other person in my group had the Old World Brat. I tried some of it, and it was really tasty as well, I'm not a huge sauerkraut fan, but their lacto-fermented kraut was very tasty. Solid sausage all the way around. This was my first time, but it definitely won't be my last! The food is incredible, and the staff is very welcoming, and friendly! I will return soon...hungry for more!

Erin Hebert

Awesome food! Close to the interstate, and it was a great place to relax for minute before getting back on the road. We got the Ham and Cheese on Gluten free bread for me and hubs got the pimento burger. All delicious! Keep it up!

Timothy Wilson

Locally-sourced restaurants are always a win in my book. Went for breakfast and had the sandwich. It was delicious, especially the homemade biscuit. Coffee was great too.

Swan Amity Studios LLC

This is hands down the best meal I've had on my trip since I left home last week. My family had three vegetarian dishes and two veggie apps. The arranchini was perfectly fried with a dill sauce so good I could have eaten it with a spoon. The pimento cheese was also excellent. I had the purple shell peas and cornbread served with a sourkraut so good it rivals the kraut my grandmother used to make. My partner had the country fried tofu and declared it perfectly cooked. Our daughter devoured the shitake burger in short order and told the waitress she wishes she were coming back. If we lived in the area, this would now be a favorite haunt. The cocktail menu was perfect with a good beer and wine selection. I enjoyed an Old Fashioned which was served beautifully and tasted as good as it looked. Not only was the food more than I could have hoped for, but the service was wonderful including a server who made us feel exceptionally welcome and well cared for. If you're a vegetarian in Little Rock, this little cafe is an amazing treat. If you visit, taste the bread pudding and be sure to tell me if it was as amazing I imagined it.

Clayton Lindsey

The waiting line to order is annoying. All of us, with a five second attention span, will suffer. However, the end result is an amazing breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner! If you want five star service, go elsewhere. If you desire quality food, go here!!! I Love The Root Cafe.

Mary Gifford

The food was great and the prices weren't bad. I loved the kids menu and the little play area. The bathrooms were VERY clean and even though it was a super hot day, there was plenty of cold water to go around. I recommend the curry chicken salad salad.

lisa wood

Food is excellent..line out the door. Not ideal for a large group. Atmosphere is quaint.

Bonnie Rauscher

The staff was super friendly food was amazing. Great place.

Myranda Vega

Small local cafe with good atmosphere. Healthy options, a few vegan. A bit pricey but the small plates are filling and satisfying. I had a tofu scrambler with a side greens salad for $7 and an unsweetened ice tea

It’s Ebby K

Stone peach pancakes were amazing customer service was even better.. pancakes are huge I could only eat one saved the other ones for my son. Call ahead to order... line was super long ...was glad I placed a to go was able to walk right up to register and grab meal!

Blake Roussel

So my first visit to The Root Cafe was a pleasurable one. We had hit some estate sales in Little Rock and thought it would be a nice spot for a good lunch. Parking is very limited so be prepared to drive around looking for a spot. Line was out the door almost which is always a good sign. I ordered the special which was the pimento cheese burger with egg plant fries. Burger was cooked well and the pimento was very good. You can tell it's made in house. Egg plant fries were different but very good. Almost forgot the sweet and spicy pickles were amazing! I want that recipe! Look forward to my next visit.

Joseph Medina

Be prepared for a wait. We visited on a Sunday morning looking for something different for breakfast. We were not disappointed. The Root features a creative menu driven by locally harvested, fresh ingredients, perfectly prepared and hand delivered by a staff of polite individuals with a genuine desire to please. These folks love what they are doing, and it shows. Try the fresh squeezed OJ or a spicy Bloody Mary. Your tastebuds will thank you!

Hannah Jones

Probably my favorite place in town! The food is delicious, the service is great, and the vibe is just perfect. Their locally sourced ingredients make for some delicious food! Hands down the best burger in Little Rock, too!

Timothy Yates

Servers were friendly and it took a little bit to get the food but they were packed. The food was soo good and worth the wait. I had the pimento burger, is was juicy and everything had a fresher taste to it. Being from Georgia I am use to sweet tea. The tea is unsweet but was good and didn’t taste bitter. If I ever come back to Little Rock I will eat here again.

You won't be disappointed.

This has been one of my favorite places since college. I love everything about this place from the vibe to the food. Even when the line is out the door it is worth the wait! Everytime!

Morgan Maxwell

Great food and great service is always expected at this local gem

Greg Free

Superb service and outstanding locally sourced food. Coffee, whiskey, those almond bars. For real y'all. Just go. Stop reading reviews and go.

Don't know what it is but I love The Root. Great atmosphere! Good food. Awesome Bloody Mary's!

We were traveling through and found this place. The service wasn’t fast because they were taking good care of each table. The food wasn’t huge portions because it is real food that you want and served reasonable. I would go a long ways out of my path for this place.

Ben Crane

Phenomenal burger, fun atmosphere and great staff!

Wonderful atmosphere and delicious locally sourced food

I love farm-to-table so must've marked this restaurant from DDD or some show since I love a day's drive away. The shitake entree was amazing, but I couldn't blame my children for not wanting to eat their grilled cheese or cheeseburger. The playground certainly helped make the evening enjoyable, but the lackluster taste and proximity of the dumpster to the patio really put a damper on what I hoped would be a great occasion.

Great service with a smile food was amazing an love the atmosphere great little place with outdoor seating

Frank Klein

Food was excellent. Probably the best food for hundreds of miles in any direction near I40. Incredible.

Ryan Brown

Fantastic cafe! Short menu with great options. Food came out fast and tasted great. The Buffalo roast coffee they had prepared was delicious as well. Patio is very convenient and allowed my dog and I to get out of the rain and enjoy the morning together.

Mike Heiber

Great vibe and great local food!

The vegan bahn mi, and the vegan teriyaki burger and fries were so good! We came back for breakfast the next day. The tofu scramble was a bit dry (it could've used some veganaise mixed in), and I really wished there were some homefries to go with the scramble. The vegan spicy brownie was amazing too.

I have never ordered something I didn't like at this restaurant. Great location in the South main neighborhood. It has a very farm-to-table vibe.

Overall good, great atmosphere, meatloaf was great and the salad and salad dressing was great pimento cheese sandwich was good. All in all good food although its different kind of flavors. Only subpar amongst the group I was with was the beans and corn bread wasnt good. I love the fact that all their food is Arkansas grown. I'd go back especially since I'm really wanting to try the pimento cheeseburger.

Amazing biscuit and sausage gravy. Coffee is also great and local, remember Sunday brunch menu is limited.

Jesus Flores

Simple delicious locally grown food that seems to be on everyone's weekend agenda.

Amazing little hole in the wall serves fresh food all ingredients come from local farms and such. By far one of my favorite places to eat. Parking is kinda hectic. But the atmosphere is amazing! If you ever in little roxk you should try them out!

My sister and I were raised in small Arkansas towns eating Purple Hull Peas and Cornbread. We were delighted to find this on the dinner menu at the Root, where the food is locally sourced whenever possible. The peas were fresh and seasoned well. The cornbread was slightly sweet moist and delish, a great compliment to the peas. I chose to add some shaved ham. It was amazing! The honey ginger lemonade is to die for. We also treated ourselves to dessert. Fried fresh blueberry pie with a scoop of buttermilk ice cream. The crust had that perfect light crunch! The place was full around 7 pm as we ate, there was a birthday party at a long table, so it was a little noisier than I prefer. The service was excellent. Earlier in the day, it had been a very humid 100 degree summer day. I wasn't surprised that it was still warm in the cafe, but not uncomfortably so. I never broke a sweat, and it just added to our peas and cornbread experience. It was a fine dining experience that I highly recommend to locals and visitors!

*Buttermilk Pancakes* Great little cafe with quality products from local artisans. Breakfast was decent! You NEED to try the buttermilk pancakes. They are exquisite!

Was on a cross country road trip and stumbled upon this place. The food was excellent - the pimento cheese burger and curry chicken salad were the best food we had on our 7 day trip. Extremely friendly employees and great spot to hang out, eat, and relax.

Was really looking forward to having dinner here. Was sat on the porch with no wait, after 10 minutes there was no sign of our server. I asked the host if they could find our server, they said they would send them right out. After almost 20 minutes we had still not even been asked for drink orders and we decided to cut our losses and leave. Menu looked excellent though.

This place is fantastic! The staff are so friendly and helpful. They are very considerate of health allergies and dietary needs. There are pretty yummy vegan and GF options. The food is locally sourced from farms and they grow some of their own herbs and spices fresh. The atmosphere is fun and has both indoor and outdoor seating. The Pork Carnitas are delicious and their fries are real potatoes cut in house. Make sure to check their hours before going and in case you are wondering, they don't do reservations but it's worth the wait on a busy day! I'll definitely go back.

I live it here. The food is FRESH and the staff is AMAZING. I love that they offer a side salad with the burger.
