I travel internationally a lot for work; I'm also a vegetarian. Whenever I pass through Danville, I get the best vegetarian food of all time: tamales de lote, pupusas de frijol y queso, un taco con friojol y verdura. And, of course, platanos con crema. For drinks, I get a water with no ice and lemon and then--get ready--the best horchata on the planet. And I have had horchata in lots of places: California, Mexico, Argentina. Great food served in a humble place owned by a great, humble person. I love it.

the small Hispanic restaurants like this. Seems more genuine than the larger establishments I've been to. Great tasting food at a great price. HOWEVER I would recommend bringing cash with you as the next day my credit card got hijacked. Not saying it was this place, and might not have been, but just to be safe

Can't say enough good about this restaurant's food and service! Fresh ingredients, service was fantastic. We had 6 people in our group May 6 2016 and did not have any issues with getting our food in a timely manner. The food was appropriately cooked, seasoned correctly in the Salvadorian way. Too many folks think if the food is Hispanic/Latino in origin it has to be all blazing hot spices (and usually inedible). A very common misconception in Danville- gas station across the street told us to go to a different Mexican place down the street because Merienda was too 'watered down' The food was perfect, very generous portions. Staff were a delight to work with. My highest compliments to Owner and staff. I will be coming back when in the state!!
