We had the Reuben sandwich and the Hawaiian H & C with the Waldorf salad. All were excellent and very filling. We each took a half sandwich home for later. Prices reasonable for the very good quality. Extremely busy and loud place (around 1 pm), but atmosphere was fun and attractive. Not great for a 93 year old w/hearing aides (had to remove) and walker, but she really enjoyed the food, as did I. Looking forward to checking out some of the other menu offerings!

If had to pick one word to describe them it would be fresh. Every dish they have you can tell not only that it's freshly made but how fresh the ingredients are. This isn't food that's been sitting in a cooler for months on end just waiting to be used. From their lunch specials to their traditional menu items it's all so delicious. One of Hot Springs true delights. I highly recommend getting there early for lunch to find a parking spot.

I have been eating at this place for several years when I visit Hot Springs. I usually order the same thing because I enjoy it so much. This time the salad was full of pieces of white bitter core and had very few pecans. The soup seemed to be missing something...it was okay but certainly not great . A fellow diner said the restaurant had sold since the last time I was there. Don't know if I will try again...

Yum! Wow! Loved everything we had for lunch here before driving into downtown Hot Springs. So good, we had to make another stop on way back to get more of the quinoa salad & deserts to go! Why aren't you in downtown area?? Love the character of this place & see how it could be a perfect fit there. Food was so fresh & included unique combinations of flavors! Loved the quinoa salad with black beans, turkey melt on sour dough, grilled cheese with mushrooms, chicken salad sandwhich on croissant, heated plate of 4 side choices, salad with shrimp, tres leches, & key lime pie. Certainly a stop worth making!!

They have a nice, homey atmosphere, and healthy food options (including gluten free). You can mix and match most sandwiches and salads, and their lemonade is very good. However, their lettuce was a little floppy from sitting out for too long. Overall, a good experience.

We have eaten here several times and it is one of our favorite places in Central Arkansas (we have to drive 30-45 minutes). It reminds us of a bistro with high quality, fresh items. The tomato soup and the artichoke soup -- both delicious; flavorful salads, sandwiches and main entrees. Do not particularly like the desserts -- have ordered two different types and could have passed on both. Definitely worth your time and money to at least try.

I’m sure we have all had that moment when you take a bite of food and ask yourself, “where have you been all of my life?” I did that at a recent luncheon while at Cafe 1217. My entire table did that as well. Fresh, vibrant and delicious food. Healthy options. Generous portions. Cafe 1217 is worth your time. Your tummy will thank you. Exceptional service and outstanding staff. 11/10!

We met some locals for our first visit here, and were very impressed with the quality and freshness of the dishes. Some unusual and striking options, such as the avocado pie, were "must try" selections and greatly enjoyed at our table. We had sandwiches and salads, followed by pie. I'm sure we will be back. The prices are a bit high, but not out of line with the quality. The arrangement (order on the right side of the counter, pay at the left, pick up drinks at the left, return to the right to retrieve the entrees) makes sense but is a bit uncomfortable for a newcomer. We got the sense that most of the customers were regulars.

My companion and I were looking for something "different" and good for lunch today. We choose Cafe 1217. My companion choose the Chicken Caesar Salad, which was enough for two meals, and I choose the Parmesan-Crusted Catfish. Mine was served with a wedge of lemon, a remoulade sauce instead of tartar sauce, and a light serving of mixed greens salad. If you arrive at lunch time, please expect that there will be a crowd and a wait. We arrived shortly after the usual lunch rush and avoided most of it. Well worth the drive out there, every time I have eaten there.

Cafe 1217 help! I had lunch there today and left hungry! No more delicious reuben, or fantastic chicken salad my food allergies have won and I now eat vegetarian to vegan. I was in Cafe 1217 today and literally there was no option for me to eat! The girl behind the counter suggested proudly that the pablano pimento cheese was vegetarian, ok great but I also happen to be lactose intolerant! So Cafe 1217, as the best lunch spot in all of Hot Springs when you are creating new menu choices every month could you please come up with something without meat, and without dairy? Or permanently keep the Mediterranean cheese sandwich, at least it was made with feta cheese which does not irritate the lactose intolerance so badly.

I've never eaten at a place with such a variety of delicious salads with traditional to more novel ingredients perfectly matched and blended. Everything was fresh. The daily special was a mushroom ham burger that was tempting but I was looking for something light but filling. They let you make up a 'sampler' plate of 3 or 4 of the salads on one plate (ample quantities) that landed a direct hit on my hunger spot. But that mushroom burger is still calling my name. Ambiance is subdued (no loud music etc.) and prices are very reasonable. There are even reading materials available.

Okay, so I'm a new vegan, and so far, it has been kinda tricky finding things at restaurants I can eat without seeming like the world's pickiest woman. (My non-vegan husband has been a pretty good sport about it so far.) So I was looking at a bunch of restaurants in town trying to find somewhere I could have something other than a $8 super basic iceberg lettuce, carrot, and tomato salad, and this cafe looked promising. I talked my husband and a friend into going there with talks of pork chops, paninis, and enticing meat and cheese dishes (lol). And WOW! When you first walk in, the first thing you see are some incredible-looking pies and other desserts! It's almost enough to make a vegan eat some eggs and butter!

Ok, I get it this place is not on bathhouse row. But you need to give it a try. My wife had the salmon with a side of wild rice mint honey concoction that was very good. I had the meatloaf, same wild rice thing and broccel sprouts which also was very good. This is an order at the counter joint, but don't be intimidated. The staff will walk you through the process and give you a taste of something if you're not sure. The also offer wine and bottle beer. The desserts looked incredible, but I was too full to eat anything else. They are not open late, so plan ahead and give this place a try. I think you will be glad you did.

We arrived at the heart of lunch time and despite the place being crowded and busy, service was attentive and efficient. That was quite a pleasant surprise. The food is colorful and artistic in it's presentation, the textures are equally superlative. The flavors however, I felt, lagged behind, being more subdued and mundane. This may be more suitable to this place's clientele, whom I have no doubt find this a perfect compliment to their early morning goat yoga session. All in all, good food, but at the prices they charge, for the portions they serve, is off putting. The help are very enthusiastic pointing out how awesome the food is but I would say that is strictly in context to the fact that it's being served in central Arkansas, not known as a culinary tour de force. I've eaten here several times and I generally feel the same way after each time, that I've done something wrong. It just seems odd to pay this much money in this town for what you get. But there is no doubt in market for it and they do it well and when I have a craving for high-priced vegetables this will be the place where I go. I would expect these kinds of prices in say New York City but it seems odd in the small town that two people can't walk out of that place for lunch for less than $40.

I ordered the tomato soup and grilled cheese. The grilled cheese came with a tiny bit of fruit. Both were extremely yummy. A cup of tomato soup and a whole grilled cheese cost me 11 dollars and something after tax so it is a little pricey.

We were very disappointed with it because despite the great description in the menu it really was a chicken salad wrap. Nothing said Mexican to me about that wrap. The staff was friendly. We eat at Cafe 1217 regularly. Everytime I try to get something new and everything is always delicious, not to mention the staff is top notch. This is by far the BEST lunch destination in Hot Springs. Please do yourself a favor and get their burger of the week or the Black & Blue Sliders.

The food was good but maybe not quite good enough to justify the prices. They got the food out real quick and since there's no waiter you save on a tip. Annoying that they serve single cans of soda (for nearly two bucks a can!) instead of a soda fountain.
