REVIEWS OF Rock Springs Café IN Arizona

Michael Taube

great friendly service, large portions. delicious pie. this famous restaurant has been around for decades and I can see why! it can get crowded but it's well worth the wait!

Schonn Michael

We were anticipating a wonderful piece of pie alamode here at Rock springs Cafe based on our past visits throughout the years, unfortunately, today's visit fell short of our expectations. the quality of the pies did not meet our standards and we were just wondering what had changed since last year. I think the quality of the pie has fallen short due to the sheer quantity that you are making now.

Alisa Ovodova

Extremely kind cashier in the gift shop. As soon as she saw my she complimented my hair and makeup and it made me day to be able to talk to her for a while and get my mind off the stress of travelling.

abimael montes

Awesome place, exelent service, delicious food. Best pie un the world. !!

Betsy Bodnar

Went there for lunch in the past and liked it so wanted to try dinner. Reservations were recommended so I made for 5, just an hour into dinner time since it starts at 4. Now, if it's it's a popular place, how can they run out of several menu items. Initially wanted the pot pie " sorry ran out". Next I tried fried catfish like husband and again " sorry not available". What do they do on all you can eat fish fridays. So h ad to pick two more items. My husband picked meatloaf. Looked kinda dark when he got it and he said it was over done. I liked the French fries and chicken fried chicken.

Bought three high priced pies as gifts last Sunday. All different flavors. Unfortunately none was as expected. After all the hype and years if experience we thought the pies would be well worth the price. They weren’t. The crusts were soggy, filling thin and tasteless. The cherry pie was obviously made from unsweetened canned filling. Not worth driving from Phoenix, that’s for sure. We won’t be back.

Jeff Berard Jr.

Great pie! My wife and I live the farmers market store in the parking lot for unusual foods. Server went above by informing me that my pie wasn't a crowd easer that day. Glad she was looking out

Greg Wirkkala

The pies are delicious as are the other baked goods. Great hot sauces, didnt dare buy the carolina reaper sauce tho, it's the hottest pepper in the world. There is a bar in there, the actual bar is from 1856! If you're in the Phoenix area, I highly recommend checking this place out.

Luis Riefkohl

Amazing service amazing food and good pricing. I ordered the Smoked Chicken Pot Pie and it was the best ever! The crust was perfectly flakey and the filling delicious. I also ordered the Tennessee Lemon Pie! Paired it with Vanilla Bean ice cream! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone passing thru or even to make a night out!

Lynn Robbins

Driving back home up north was hungry it was dinner time. The service was good. Ordered the pot pie and I was very disappointed it was drier than the dessert. In an over cooked crust. No gravy or liquid anywhere. They were nice and apologetic but it was inedible. I still had to pay for some things I could not even eat. All they did was give a free piece of pie. If your hungry and passing thru. I would hang in there and drive past and go to the next town

Lyle Suedmeyer

Outstanding service, food and pies with a nice western themed country store and outdoor attractions to enjoy! Our waitress ALISHA was so very sweet, professional and super polite too! Thanks y'all for a great dinner last Sunday evening with my daughter and her little canine HERO as I had to watch her depart back to NAU for another school year! Blessing from above to y'all for helping make this so extra special!

Tele Perez

My experience at Rock Springs Cafe was super great and the food was on point... can't wait till next time & thank you so much for Black canyon City experience

Allison Marie

A girl named McKayla is the sweetest girl that works there ever she’s so polite and she deals with bad situations professionally.

America Walk

Love this place after a trip to the lake, zoo, etc. The food is amazing and they have an amazing shop. They are known for their pies which you can buy alone, or as a slice at the restaurant. They sell almost gift shop items, home made honeys and jams, lots of candy. They have a bar with TVs so you can hang out and watch games. The staff are fast paced. I personally had the chicken pot pie and it was perfect!! Their sweet tea is also great. I forgot to mention just how amazing the pies are. All of them. I recommend them all.

Chris Ortega

Food is always good. Enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich with the sweet bbq sauce. Don't forget to save room for some pie

Bill Jacobsen

Many people in Phoenix know about this place, but for those that don't it is definitely worth the stop if you're headed north. They are known for their pie, and I would recommend the coconut cream.

Favian Arteaga

Had the blueberry pie. It was good but not great! Definitely not worth the $6 dollars plus for one average size slice. Pricey!

George Blue

It awesome. The food was plentiful.

Chuck Rowe

Food was great. Loved the pie! The server did a great job. Beyond that, we had a nice time walking around the little farmer's market area. Can't wait to go back.

Amanda Phoenix

Rock Springs Cafe is always an awesome spot to go. They have excellent pies that they are famous for apparently. The building has been there for over a hundred years now. There's a lot of history and some cute gitchie stuff there too.

Scott Ackerman

I've been here about 3 times so now I have a good sample size and can write a review. The food is always overpriced, not prepared very well, and the waitresses act like they are about to get off work and don't care. The pies are pretty good depending on what you get, some taste like they came out of the Walmart freezer though. I will never return to this place.

bernadine Sydow

Their meals are great. This is a very busy place. The pies are to died for. So yummy.

Amanda Maus

Just stopped for pie mid-morning on a Sunday. No wait to ve seated. Excellent apple crumb and banana cream pie. Super friendly waitress.

Patricia Lommer

The atmosphere was a little "touristy" (as expected), but our server Alicia was the absolute best. She wasn't "fake nice" but was very attentive and we didn't go without. I felt the food could've used a little more seasoning, but that's just me. (I had the Philly w fries) afterwards we ordered a piece of banana cream pie, apple crumb pie, and blueberry pie. Each piece was absolutely DELICIOUS. I cannot stress this any more lol I mean it. It was really good. 10/10 would definitely go back.

Scott Allen

Price’s were average, but service, kindness and the food my wife and I had, was absolutely one of the finest restaurant experience in a LONG time. Want to go for an hour drive with a superb dinner and home town experience, at the end, this is the place. Oh yeah, love that sweet ice tea.

Marissa Brown

Old school AZ must see! Been stopping here since I was little with my grandparents!!! And cannot ever go more than a couple trips down or up the 17 without stopping in! Best pies ever!!!

Tina Paxton

I ordered the chicken stacker sandwich it was very good it had seasoned fries that were cooked perfectly also had fried pickles which were very good..place was decorated like an old fashioned restaurant very authentic had lemon meringue pie for dessert that was delicious..they have very good pie in many flavors ..service was good

Paul Deal

The food was very good, but way too pricey for the casual ambiance. And as famous as they are for pies, we were really unimpressed. All the baked goods (pies and various sweet rolls) tasted a little stale and chemically preserved. Wish we hadn't sampled so many! Again, might have been okay for half the price, but we paid top dollar! What pushed me personally over the edge was the service - our waitress was "fake nice", or smiles-with-a-side-of-surly-attitude. Maybe she was going for cowgirl edgy, but it was just off-putting. We don't intend to go back.

Takilia 99

It took 30 min. to be seated and there were empty tables in each diningroom. Honestly the food wasn't anything special. And the cherry pie I had was good but Marie Calendar's in California is a bit better. I probably won't eat there again. Oh, and don't buy the soft pretzel, it was dry and overdone.

Jill Wade

We had hamburgers that were delicious! It is definitely a busy place to stop! The food was great, the staff friendly, and the pie was delicious!

Sharon Figueroa

Great Pies! We always stop here after a day trip up north.

Youhavethis Metoo

This location is gorgeous and has a lovely atmosphere. The staff is great, inparticular a girl name Gianna who was so attentive and such a good worker. Me and my boyfriend want to get married in the garden now and serve pies Instead of cake. Dont pass this place up!

Daryl Moore Jr.

Holiday Special is the Famous "Jack Daniels" pecan pie get one ever time I pass through. Stop by for bite on the way back from the 4th of July celebration, excellent breakfast and as always so delicious pies. Don't pass it up, it's so good.

David Gay

Obviously great pies but the cafe serves decent affordable food also.

Shelly Long

A long time favorite of ours! It had been a while and we were happy to find it was still well worth getting off the freeway for!

Aida Awad

Pies are great, but expensive at $6 per slice. Salads were just okay. Wish they offered a 1/2 pie option. We wanted to buy 2 different half pies. Ended up just buying 2 slices instead.

Nicholas Bode

Been coming here for years. Amazing our, and they have a very spicy selection not hot sauce. The place is still growing.

Christopher Potvin

I went in for lunch. Got a burger and cottage cheese instead of fries and got charged $6 for the cottage cheese. The whole thing came to almost $20. The food was extremely bland and the kitchen was very slow even though there seemed to be a ton of people working behind the counter. The service was nice and I liked the building. It had an interesting feel to it, but I couldn't get over how lousy the food was. I get that they make awesome pies. That, in no way, correlates to awesome food. I would much rather ride to wickenburg to Screamers or to Globe to Judy's than ever come here again. I wont ever be back unless its to buy a pie

Mike Pittman

The Friday night fish fry ( cod) was delicious!! The variety & freshness of pies couldn't be better. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner & desert. You get what you pay for (quality, service, & tasty food). I highly recommend this place!

Michael Hendricks

This place is cute the food is just okay we have had better. The staff is very nice but some of the servers on not focused on the task at hand, it took reminding our server multiple times before we got our cornbread 20 minutes later. The kitchen looks really dirty, the pie is great though!

Ashley Wilson

Definately going back. This is the place to go if you want classic American food and the atmosphere of the old west.

Brenda Guerra

I'm sure it's nice but I've never been here

Ryan Farrar

We got pie to go, but the grounds are so cool. They have tons of plants growing near the springs coming out of ground. Good spot to stop w kids or pets. Plenty of room to mill around.

Lori Hanna

We make a point of stopping in whenever we are traveling by. The atmosphere is enjoyable - a nod to their western heritage. Pie is always on point and their made to order menu is good and reliable.

Vickie Johnston

This is a great stop just off the 17 between 17 and the Prescott exit. The pies are wonderful!

Joseph Weber

They have very good pies, worth pulling off the freeway to get. Their restaurant is also good. Kind of like a cowboy retaurant.

Deanna R.

This place has the worst food, the prices are high and it is so dirty I can't understand why the health department hasn't closed it down. I would give it a minus 5 stars if I could but the lowest I can go on here is one star. But it is a horrible place to go to eat.

Jason Smith

Stopped for some pie and to stretch our legs on the way back to Phoenix from Sedona. So good! Worth the stop.

Mizz Jae

Highly recommend this place. Breakfast is served strictly from 7am to 11am and they do have a lunch menu. They have lots of parking for customers and the staff are truly on the ball. Our wait time was less than 10 min for a full breakfast. They have theeeee most amazing tasting coffee, a variety of breakfast choices, pies and general store goods. I purchased apple butter from the general store and later found out it was overpriced as the apple butter I came across in Flagstaff at Farmers Market was half the price, still though, Im willing to believe it was worth every penny. The cafe itself has a warm and inviting interior decor and everything about the cafe and area speaks of old school charm. The walls are laden with old school decor, pictures of yesteryear and days gone by featuring John Wayne,Dolly Parton, The Lone Ranger,Dale Evans,Roy Roger's and many more. You have to visit this wonderful cafe to experience its charm with all the nostalgia it brings

Maddie Miller

Didn't actually go in the café but shopped in the stores around it and was very pleased with how friendly everyone always is and how well kept the shops are

Daniel Grove

We always stop here when we are traveling to Sedona. Best tourist trap with wonderful food, PIES and other fun stores. Definitely worth the stop for food as the place and people make you feel like family. My son loves the Rock Shop as prices and selection were perfect for him.

Chris Burg

Service was terrible, from the hostess to the elderly server. Food was cold, tho good flavor, never checked on us, no coffee regilled. No smiles from any of the 3 people we were served by.

G Wilson

Historical cafe with a very clean, nice and friendly atmosphere. If you have a sweet tooth then it's a must to stop. The pies, brownies or sticky buns are out of this world. A place that anyone would enjoy.

Ginger Leffingwell

Great place to stop. Good food, nice people. The biggest selection of pickled vegetables I've seen. Fresh fruit and vegetables too. Yum

Cathy Cox

Best Pies!! Got a Jack Daniel's Pecan Pie & Tennessee Lemon Pie to go and wow they are both amazing!! Worth the drive for sure.

Veronica S

Always amazing! All the food is wonderful... especially the pie!! Ample portions, fresh ingredients, great recipes, friendly staff...even something simple as providing carafes of tea & lemonade without us having to ask, and reminding us to take some with us for the road...this little place is a gem.

Rebecca B-rown

Oh my gosh. A MUST visit. I wasn't even into pie, I was wing man to my husband! I didn't plan on having anything and when hubs ordered his blueberry pie, I asked the lady what she would recommend to which she responded "bourbon pecan pie is our best seller, I'll go get you a sample". I didn't even know what pecan pie was (being an Aussie). She came back with a piece on a fork. I was in. I ordered a slice of that, warmed up with icecream. It was sensational. The blueberry was also delicious, very fresh and not too sweet. The customer service was also fantastic, very attentive. Honestly I wish we could have bought a whole pie and taken it home.

Neander Wallace

At least once a year my wife and make the hour long drive to the Rock Springs Cafe. The food is always really good and the pie has always been great. The only downfall is that lately (I have been going there for over fifteen years - even before meeting my wife) it seems to have gotten a lot more "touristy". The waits are longer and the place is jammed with children and groups of seniors looking for a place for a day trip. Business is obviously good but the original feel of the place seems to be getting a little lost.

London Hayes

Did not live up to the hype. The pie was okay I guess, but we paid almost $30 for 4 slices when I could have gotten 2 or 3 full, good pies from a grocery store for the same amount. And it smelled like livestock in the eating area. Not worth the time or the money.

Naomi M

Very generous portion of fresh salad and the most delicious pie with home made cream. Beautiful grounds and friendly staff. Perfect!

Jon Brinton

Classic stop on the I-17 with great food, awesome pies, fun shopping, and over 100 years of history. Take the time to stop and enjoy!!!

Kathy Atherton

Loved it! Great food and lots of specialty and homemade items

Luann S

BEST PIES EVER!! I live in Phoenix and will make the drive up there just for pie!! The Jack Daniels Pecan is the BOMB!!!

Patty Fiddie

Loved it. Got beef steak tomatoes at the farmers market there.

Teresa InLouisville

Excellent Patty melt! Fries were good too. The pies are worth every penny - take one to go. The peach pie was amazing, peaches were firm and sweet. Can't go wrong here!

Chris Jimenez

Really great pies here! The Jack Daniel's pecan pie and the pumpkin is delicious!

Debbie Lanoy

The people were friendly, the food was nothing to write home about. Pie is good but way over priced. The scenery is beautiful. Not really sure if it was worth the 120 Mile drive to go back again

Rita Muscarello

Very efficient and friendly wait staff. Their goal is satisfied customers. Gift shop and outside farmers market has unique and varied gifts. The pies are still a draw at $20 plus, but somehow, do not seem as good as they were some few years ago. Rock Springs is worth visiting as it is an interesting place to see.

Ashley Goode

Well, our server was great and the food was not her fault. My chicken fried chicken was a processed patty from somewhere that had been warmed up and plated with gravy. The mashed potatoes were tepid at best and I had to mix in the gravy to warm them up. The corn on the cob was ridiculously bad to the point I was laughing hysterically watching my husband bite into his. The reaction on his face made the entire bad experience worth it. How does one mess up corn on the cob? My husband's chicken fried steak wasn't bad but wasn't the best. Maybe they were having an off night? I'm not sure but our desire to eat here again is non existent. P.S. We purchased desserts to go but at this point we are both fearful of what will come of that experience.

Philemonpersing

Waited for my party to use restrooms. It was busy though, and everyone looked like they were having a good time. The atmosphere was quixotic and inviting. The pie is said to be legendary. Will try on my way back!

Joe Motil

I have gone to Rock Springs Cafe off and on for a very long time and from early beginnings to a place e that always passes the "parking lot" test. You stop in to get its famous pie or other jarred items or stay a while for a sit down dining experience. Fun to peruse the gifts. You can't help but have a good time at the place that folks drive long distances to stop at. There is a reason that they have celebrated 100 plus years in business. You might to stop by and find out why for yourself.

Chantelle Rivera

We had such a great experience here. There was a short wait (about 15 min) and they text you when your table is ready. Super convenient. Gave us a chance to walk over to the convenient store and check out the shops neighboring the restaurant. We both ordered burgers. They were cooked to perfection. Our waitress was so sweet and so funny (wish I remembered her name! So sorry) but she was cracking jokes. Food came in a decent time. They brought us pitchers with the drinks we ordered if we wanted refills. I thought that was really cool. You never have to ask your waiter for a refill. And then we ordered the apple crumb pie a la mode. I wish I wasn't an hour away. But it's close enough that I'm ok with going back for another slice soon

yvonne perez

Had to stop to see what hype is all about!! Pies looked delicious! Place was pretty packed! The cream & fruit pies look wonderful but can't justify paying $25 for a pie/ cream, pecan or fruit!! I prefer my own deserts!! Didn't even have a slice!! Just looked!!

Lol IDK

Terrible food, ok service. I don't know what all of the hype is about. We ordered 3 different dishes, for 3 different people, and no one was satisfied. The pie was ok, but VERY overpriced for the serving you get. First and last time dining at Rock Springs Cafe.

Larry Andrews

Best pie on the planet! The rest of their menu is great too....but save room for the pie!

Maria Garza

Cute little place with amazing food. A little pricey but worth it, if you don’t stop to eat you have to stop for the pie trust me you won’t regret it.

Peter Smith

Very good cafe with a lot of history! We had the Two Gun Chili and wings as a starter. The corn bread was delicious. For dinner, I had the smoked brisket philly cheese steak. Good, but I wish the bun held up better. My wife has the smoked chicken pot pie. Well worth it! Definitely get some of their famous pies and check out the other buildings in the plaza!

Bianca Ortega

This is an awesome little place to turn into when you're traveling in Arizona on the I-17. The staff are all super friendly and welcoming. I have been here a handful of times and the food never really disappoint but never really goes above and beyond what you would expect. The only thing that's ever really bummed out any of my experiences here is the small restrooms and there is no baby changing station. One thing that I find really unique and convenient is that whatever drink you order they put a small picture in front of you to kind of refill your own drink which is way better than waiting on someone else to do it for you. No matter what I would recommend this place.

Hessa Eliana

Every time we’ve been here on our way back to Phoenix from Flagstaff, the food and the service have been wonderful. The BBQ dinner is EXCELLENT. The meatloaf dinner is really good too! It has a sweet taste to it surprisingly but it’s very good. The chili is also good! The ranch is to die for, actually all of their dressings are delicious! The pies are good. I’ve had the raspberry lime, cherry, and mixed berry crumb. They’re all good. The cherry was the best so far! Definitely a great place to eat!

Gina Fernandez

Simple menu, because all it takes is a few good items cooked perfectly to make a place one to go back to. This is a place to repeat over and over. I was bummed we were too full to have the pie but making a pit stop next time. Fresh biscuits and perfectly made coffee hit the spot at 8 am. Friendly service and beautiful grounds.

Caoimhín Fjall

Attempting to avoid a 30 minute slow down due to an accident on I 17 S., we were pleasantly surprised stopping into rock Springs Café. Food was delicious, fairly priced, and the service was outstanding at the bar. Definitely will be back, even if there are no accidents to avoid. Thank you guys so much for taking excellent care of us!

Brian Hansen

Timing is everything when it comes to Pie selection for sure. Todays selection was not up to standard. Probably because of the busy weekend. Yummy the pies are great homemade delights. Not low priced, but worth it. The restaurants has good breakfast and lunch. Stop by I recommend.

Cindy Haynes

Love the pie.... the other food was good too.

Ann Lapan

Don't expect a good dining experience. ( Food and service are well below average.) Just get your pie and go.

Marge Gray

We have stopped many times over the years. Has a great Atmosphere. We love the cookies! Been going since they were .50 cents. They were so big & yummy. Last time we went there the cookies were still large & cost $1.50. Today's visit they were bagged with 2 cookies cost $4.00. WOW!! much smaller and $2.00 a piece not giving you the choice of buying one. So sad!

Danny LaPre

Excellent. A friends wife's birthday today. Went for a bike ride and had a great meal and a quite time. Very peaceful and relaxing. First time there.

Patty Waters

Lunch was good, chicken salad and grilled ham and cheese. Ordered 3 pieces of pie to go. OH MY GOSH, we got home and they were so small!!! Not anything like the pictures you see. They were not fresh cut and tasted like they had been in refrig for days. So disappointed as we stopped here because of the rave reviews of pie. Our total order was over $50!!! Waitress was not friendly at all. This was our FIRST time there and really expected more with the reputation the Cafe has.

Tony Tucson

Excellent stop on the way up to Flagstaff or up north. Big breakfast and tasty burgers. Cool atmosphere and has a little store inside. Pickup a pie to go.

Jordan Dishon

Good breakfast. Even Better Pie. All the flavors you can think of, highly recommend. The only downside is the drive for anyone not local.

Alexsa Dodd

The pies are the whole reason that we stop every time we drive up the i17, but each slice is $6.00 which is pricey and the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. We have had the restaurant menu before and it was definitely good, but not so fantastic that it would encourage us to stop Everytime. It's only the pie that keeps us coming back again and again. When I was in culinary school, I can remember one of my lead chefs saying that he would happily drive the 1+hr to get a pie from there and I now know why. Personal suggestion; JDs pecan pie. Oh man. As a side note, there's also usually some type of produce market on the outside that has decent selection and worth taking a look.

Doreen Dziepak

We've had the big three here - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All good, home style cooking - nothing fancy. But you come for the PIE

Victor Chaney

What a neat touch of Arizona history, I really enjoyed my visit, always remember to save room for pie.

kirk sawyer

This is "THE PIE PLACE" ! ! IN Rock Springs, this place rocks. Home made pies to die for with a mom & pop dinner and a souvenir shop.

Carlos Carrillo

I absolutely love roadside spots for noshing and this place delivers in spades. Ok, to be fair I only had the pie, but it was to die for and believe me, I'm a pie guy. I tried to take a pic of the pie before I took a bite, but my self discipline (or lack there of) got put in check. I also got a kick out of the little shops on the periphery of the building. Go for the food, but don't leave without some pie.

Kim B

Stopped to have coffee and pie. Pie was take out of fridge and put in microwave. Crumbs has zero flavor and were like saw dust. The berries were tart, and okay. Ice cream for a la mode was icy and very poor quality. I'll never get overpriced pie here again. I dont recommend. Go to Costco instead.

S Butler

Love the nostalgia of this place, over 100 years old and the "homemade pies" are spectacular!. It's a hop and a skip North of Phoenix, well worth the trip. Weekends are definitely the busiest.

Tabitha Staley

Pie is amazing, staff could care less if we were there.

Richard Sargent

I love desserts, pies, cookies, cakes, pastries at large. I have purchased pies here on multiple occasions and have to say I have had my best luck with the Lemon Meringue and Rhubarb pies. I find myself challenged by bottom crust that appear to be pre-made, not from scratch. Also when I purchase a fruit pie I would like to see fruit filling the pie not just a smattering where it appears to be one layer thick. I do understand both food and labor cost having held positions as pastry chef and F&B since the mid 80's. If a few shortcomings were addressed great pies could be walking out the door again.

C Hall

Dog friendly, they were so thoughtful, we just sat down in outside patio area and they brought water dish and cold water for our big dog's. It was a nice welcome after a long drive. Taco salad was delicious. :)

Douglas Matsuda-Boucher

Outstanding food. Watching the hummingbirds out the window wonderful. Enjoy !

Dan Briddle

Always a great visit. Today, was a quick breakfast before some motorcycle time. Service was fast, coffee good and I narrowly avoided the pie. ( will probably pick one up on my way back through). And you can see some fantastic motorcycles!

Jim Nutt

Good pie, friendly service. The pies are moderately expensive, but good. The shop also sells preserves and pastries. Did not order food other than the pie, but I suspect it's pretty decent.

Shirley Henry

Love this place. The breakfast is the best. I love the rose garden and the little creek. Sometimes there is a farmers market. Don't forget the pie.

John

I can't stop by Rock Springs Cafe with out having a slice of Penny's Pie. Too many claims of (World Famous) on many restaurants but I think they may be correct as far as these pies go. I had the chicken fried chicken last night and have to say it tops my list. You have to try their pies.

Linda Roberts

Had to check it out. Very nice and friendly. Had fish and chips and pecan pie that was good. Would never pay their price for pie!!

Julie Casper

Pie was AWESOME. Fried chicken didn't have much flavor, but hubby said his chicken fried steak was really good. If we're ever back in the area we will be back

Kimberly Bonnell

Love this place. The food is great and I look forward to their pies and shakes each time I'm passing through.

Jessica Cruz Trujillo

We stopped over the weekend to try their pies for the first time. Their blueberry pie is very good not to sweet but my favorite was their pecan pie, it was delicious! the best pecan pie I've ever had

Tom Coakley

Tourist trap. Ten to fifteen minute wait appears to be standard to get you to walk through the shop, not because tables are full. Table was sopping wet when we arrived. Breakfast stopped at 11am, but at 11:30 meatloaf wasn't ready. Food was average diner quality priced like airport food.

Amanda Morris

Chili with corn bread and loaded nachos were outstanding. Huge, taxidermy polar bear that the kids loved.

Himabindu Poonamalli

Food tasted good and the waitress was very courteous ...but the tables were dirty and so was the restroom.. A restaurant that's so busy with customers who love the food and especially the pies...needs to improve certain conditions

Aprildawn

I love the food. It was so sad that i came.in today and the hostess didn't know what she was doing. There were empty tables but she refused to sit anyone down at the tables. The tables were empty. She kept telling people it was a 20 to 25 minutes wait. We had walked out because there were so many employees standing around. I sure hope they get this straightened out. I really love coming here. This one of my favorite places to get pie.

Paula Pfeiffer

Great food and atmosphere. Plus a gift shop, wedding chapel and more.

KAZZ MAN

Amazing tasty apple pies they sell here, bathroom stalls are beer CONTAINERS.

Firstlefty1

The Pies were delicious & let me tell you I go all the way to California JUST for pie

Yazbaken2

Delicious food with great portions including the pies. I had the baby back ribs which was tasty!

Maryann Clark

Honestly, we use to go years ago. It seemed more authentic back then. The owners don't want the towns people hanging around like before. They changed the store. The food at the restaurant isn't the same. The all you can eat ribs, they use to be fabulous, you might even enjoy them now. But there is no comparison to the past. We finally gave up and quit going up there for their all you can eat ribs. Penny use to make the pies, they were at state wide famous. They were Penny's pies.I have no doubt snowbirds came for the pie too. The farmer's market is gone and I didnt see the little shops that use to be in by the market either. We were driving back to Phoenix from up north, walked our furkids and moved on. The old band that use to play, we saw them at Chilleens On 17 once when we were driving through. So my guess us that's not there anymore either. No I wouldn't recommend stopping here.

p e g g y Steinbach

Best pies/. Get there early before they sell out. Worth the drive

Timothy Phillips

This is a must pull over and check out type of area off the I-17. I’ve seen the signs for their pies for years, well today, it was time. The restaurant has a small market next to it that you should poke your head into. Inside the restaurant we were wanted pie. They have a very good selection of whole pies & single slices. We opted for a slice. A whole pie was $21. I got a slice of cherry crumb pie & my wife got a slice of chocolate pie. We sat in the car and savored every bite. Excellent pie. Absolutely delicious. I’ll be stopping there a lot more as I pass Black Canyon City.

Terrible service and unimpressive meal!! We are locals and have never experienced such a bad meal or service. We arrived for breakfast (10am) and were told there would be a 25 minute wait. - adequate time for a busy day. We were seated an hour later and were subject to the lunch menu rather than breakfast. Asked if we could add a fried egg to a sandwich and were told eggs were no longer being served. Ordered an add-on to another sandwich and it was left off- had to ask again for the item. Not to mention forty minutes for the meal to come out. Numerous times they tried to clear plates while we were still eating- must have run out of dishes??? Everyone was full of “NO’s” rather than providing good customer service. Miss the old days of walking in to the venue and being greeted by a warm wonderful human being.

Great breakfast. Very limited menu and very pricey with a long wait to be seated but the food and our server & busgirl were great. Went past again in the afternoon (3ish) and the parking lot was even more full than when we ate at 9 am.

Laura Bunts

This is an awesome place for good wholesome food. Breakfast is awesome. Place is known for it's pie. Local store has really good artisan jams and jellies. I always pick up a few when I'm there. Real whipped cream, like whipped to order! Yum!

Julie Emmerling

What a cool place! I had the best cranberry walnut salad. DELICIOUS!! The chocolate cream pie was amazing. I want to go to a wedding or party on the property. Would be the perfect place for an event!

Ashley Roefs

This place is charming. I was passing through on a road trip. Tami was incredibly sweet and welcoming. It made me feel like I was in a home away from home. Thanks for the extra coffee fill up!!

Ray HD Rider

Service quick and pleasant. Food wonderful. Wife had Club which was huge. I had chicken salad which was likewise huge. Both excellent. Attentive staff and clean facilities. They hit all the points for success.

Beautiful sunday morning drive for some pie. :) love this place! Love thier breakfast too..

Victoria Love

Yes I do eat burgers. This one was pretty good. No gf options for dessert or buns...

Charles Deschenes

Delicious chicken fried steak breakfast and if you don't know about the pies you need to go get one right now.

Carol Webb

Food was great Desserts are worth the 80 mile drive

Alan Poletti

The food is excellent and wait times were acceptable given the crowds there when I went. Definitely get some pie!

Hope for Christ

I love the atmosphere but the food is way to pricey.

Mike Petrus

Rustic Arizona cafe and saloon. And did I mention the pies?

Shirley Difilippantonio

Busy place good food good service.

Julie Gilbert

The grounds were beautiful with grass, trees, flowers, places to sit outside, and the water. Three stars because my hamburger and fries were good. A member in my party ordered a BLT and it had very little bacon, for about $11 and the other person in my party ordered a piece of apple pie and the apples were sour. So we don't recommend what they ordered.

Keith Hobson

Great food and EXCELLENT pie! Not cheap pies, but definitely worth every penny! You will taste the difference and go back again and again.

Kaihley Reiner

A fun place to eat a good meal and their pies are excellent

Stacey Gray

Pie and service was great! We enjoyed making a pit stop on our way home. Lots of places to stop and discover-they have a cool natural spring in the back if you walk a bit behind the cafe.

Carolyn Lee

Food was excellent! Our service was awesome. Anne Marie gave us the best service of our entire 3 day vacation weekend! Better than the two upscale restaurants we ate at in Scottsdale.

Nodnelg Pierce

What a gem! Great atmosphere, amazing pies, food was perfect, service was excellent. Please take the time to pull off the highway and treat yourself and guests. Take your time and explore inside and out. (Take a walk out back too, it was blooming and beautiful) You won't be disappointed. Unless your a real stuck up city slicker from cal... well just do it anyway! My wife and 3 boys have stopped in twice, great experience both times. We'll be back next time through!

Lisa Perez

Their pies were the best I’ve ever had!! The crust melts in your mouth like butter!

Double Edge Sword

Not a good first impression. Both my wife's food and my own were bland and definitely not fresh. The menu is 1 page. Usually a 1 page menu means they have perfected those few dishes. Nope. The county fried steak and gravy had almost no flavor. The half cob of corn I didn't touch because it looked old. The fries felt and tasted like they sat around a while. Sad to say the salad and glass of water was the best part. We sat at our table 15 minutes after our plates were taken and never got our check. We finally walked up and asked for the check. We asked to add 2 pies to our order. They didn't have them. The place is known for their pies and they didn't have apple or coconut cream pie. We got 2 different kinds instead and went home. It's been 4 hours and their food is still punishing me. If they can't do better than a TV dinner I say keep driving. The pies aren't bad but at almost 25 dollars they aren't good. I had a slice of banana and it had a slight chemical aftertaste. That makes me think the pies aren't even homemade. I'd love to know if they use any fresh ingredients or is it what I suspect. Frozen or canned. Still there and still lacking imo

The service was excellent. The pie was good, but not everything it was made out to be. We ate on the patio near the garden. Its beautiful out there! Also, their patio us dog friendly, but it is kind of small; 4 or 5 tables. Overall, I would definitely go again now that I know what to expect.

brandon slater

Great ride. Great friends. Best pie in rock springs.

Brian Marsh

We came here to enjoy a concert and decided to break for food. There as a long wait for a table, but open seats at the bar. Robbie was our bartender and it was delightful. Very entertaining, accommodating. The kitchen is a little small so it took awhile to get our food, but it was really good. This place is known for their pies, but the portion is so huge I don't know how anyone can have the available space to eat a slice of pie after finishing their meal. The prices are incredibly reasonable, and Robbie knows how to make a good, strong drink. We will return again, especially if there's another concert.

ed carroll

Love the food and the service. The building and garden are beautiful. Favorite place for a quick motorcycle ride out of the Phoenix heat for some breakfast.

Bob Roloff

I always start my day at Rock Springs Cafe. Going north or south, travelers enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner. And a great slice of pie anytime. The "Arizona Duuude" , considers this pie place his home base.

Darlene B

Love their homemade pies!!!! Word is getting out though and they need another person at the cash register because lines are too long to just purchase pie. Their mac and cheese is to die for!

Mark Hampsch

Great place to go eat and hang out. The outside patio is very nice.

Marjorie Pennock

Loved the Bourbon Burger. Service was great. We had a large party (11) and was seated in a timely manner. Was too stuffed to order pie, so I took one home. My expectation is that it is a good as the rest of the food.

Gary Turner

The food was wonderful! And the pie? Ohhhh, the pie... Coconut Cream with everything made right there! Our server Kelly, was a delight. She could tell how much we were enjoying the pie. She served us a sample of the Pecan Caramel pie with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream and then topped it all with a shot of bourbon drizzled over the top! It was "over the top"! I can highly recommend the ribs and coleslaw from the small plates menu. Delicious!

David Sterne

This is a great little place to stop at on your way back from up north and you're tired of driving. They have a little store with jarred foods and touristy stuff, a restaurant, a bar, and best of all, pie. The pie is the reason to stop in. I had the mixed berry crumble pie with vanilla ice cream and it was amazing. I found it to be a little expensive, but it's worth it, and fun to treat yourself once in a while.

Melanie Taylor

I haven't been here in literally 10 years. I was a bit disappointed, but i will def be going back. I guess everytime i had been here before it was dinnertime, because i have always had their signature chicken pot pie, and that is not available on their extremely limited lunch menu. They also ran out of kids menus? Which okay. The food is still excellent, the service is friendly but rushed. They did not seem to be as busy as the waitstaff made us feel they were. I missed having the history right there on the table, apparently you have to ask for the brochure now, but if you've never been there, how would you know to ask? The checkout area is way cramped and it is impossible to look at anything they have for sale without being in someone's way, which is a darn shame. It is super hot in the dining room. Which is not conducive to eating well. The bar and checkout area did not seem to have that issue. Parking is easy and getting on and off the highway was easy too.

jessica woodward

I'm guessing this place is still only in business because it's a touristy spot. I've been a bartender for 11 years and in the food industry for 15 years. This place deserves 0 stars. Don't stop here. 25 minutes to place an order, 50 minutes for appetizers: potato skins, chilli, and nachos. The food came out warm, not hot, almost considered "cold." Can I also add that this place was not even considerably busy. The ONLY reason we did not stand up an walk out is because we know what it's like to work in the service industry, and the cost of food & having to comp meals. But I 100% do not recommend stopping here, keep traveling to the next destination. -Jessica Woodward

The pies are delicious. I've tried the Jack Daniels Pecan and the Strawberry Rhubarb. You can buy a whole pie or get it by the slice, heated up if you wish, with or without ice cream.

Karen Gamez

Absolutely loved their banana pie and buffalo wings! I got the $.5 cent per wing special and a full sized pie on my visit. Highly recommend this place for pie fanatics!

Ana Montano

This is such a cool place! Hidden gem for sure! It’s not completely visible fro. The highway but it’s worth the stop. It’s now become one of our must stops if we go up north. GREAT pies! My all time favorite is the pecan pie. They do have a jack Daniels pecan pie. It’s really not worth it. It’s super hyped up. But it doesn’t really taste like Jack and the liquor makes it so much sweeter. Stick to the original pecan. The apple pie has too much cinnamon for my liking but it’s pretty decent. Key lime pie is incredible! And the lemon Custer is wonderful! My only suggestion for people that are coming here for the first time is to invest in a WHOLE pie. Buying slices can add up quickly because it’s about $6 a slice. A whole pie that contains about 8 slices cost $21. It’s a no brainer, tough part is deciding what to get.

vincent gerard

Great little not so little place. Love the pies.

Rock Humper

How wasn't it. This place so awesome. I stop here every road trip up north.
