Great food, friendly service though a little understaffed. That said I highly recommend stopping here if you're passing through Benson, AZ. Wife had the chicken fried steak and it was enormous as well as delicious. Dad and I had the chili cheese burger on French fries no bun and I would come in weekly for it.

When I order a French dip or a hot beef sandwich I don't want "deli" roast beef it needs to be "roast beef". Tasted like it might have been cheap shoe leather. Service was ok.

Went with the family for lunch and I was very impressed. We had 10 people and they had no problem seating us. The waitress was amazing and never let a cup go empty. The food was delicious especially the fried zucchini and the Philly cheesesteak with au jus.. Will definitely be a weekend lunch spot from now on.

Small town, mom and pop style eatery. Food was pretty good, Mexican and American diner type options. Service was kind of slow and it took awhile to get our food but the waitress was really nice. The prices were extremely affordable and the food itself was good. All in all, if we're ever eating in Benson again I may go back but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.

It was a very nice cafe experience. I especially like the wait staff as they seem to help each other. It was not spectacular but the prices went with the type of meal that we received. My husband got the chef salad and really enjoyed that very much.. they could have used something else besides head lettuce. I got the open-faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes. It could have been served a little hotter but all in all it was quite good. Looking back I should have gotten the homemade soup of the day instead of the salad. We could not resist sharing a piece of coconut cream pie. It was delicious and they told us that the pies are made fresh everyday.

Upon entering there was a wait of 5 minutes. Once we were seated we placed out order and it arrived pretty quickly. I ordered a cheeseburger with vegetable soup. Both were very good. At our table we also had a Cobb salad, a jumbo shrimp platter and a taco salad. Each plate could feed two people. Excellent service, and good food. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Oh the Pie!! Oh my!!! You absolutely need to try the pie! The food was good and honestly though, it was the pie that blew it all away in my mind. We got a piece of the Coconut Cream and the Key Lime! Honestly, I was in heaven. In my opinion one should never waste a calorie on sub par pie. This pie was so amazing I could have eaten the entire pie, not just a piece. It would have been work every calorie. The Chicken and the Friday special of clam chowder were good, too but I barely remember them after the Pie Rocked our palettes. My father-in-law is a regular and I understand why. Delicious! Oh and the service was good, too. There was a bit of a wait (20-25 minutes) not bad for a Friday night. I only wish my phone hadn't died I would have snapped a few pictures. We'll be back and I will update my post then. :-)

I've eaten here a few other times and the food is usually pretty good. I had the open faced roast beef with mashed potatoes. Beef was on the salty side and the mashed were so so. Service was very good, so we'll probably go back. In Benson we're pretty limited on places to eat.

Wasn't a good visit at all! We arrived on our Harley on our way to tombstone for the day and first had a 20 minute wait. Which is no problem because usually that's proves to be a good place to eat. But then we were seated in the very back by the servers door & kitchen. After one cup of coffee we had to get up & find another waitress to get another cup of coffee. Our order was taken at the same time that a couple beside us order was taken. We watched them get served their breakfast (still no offer for more coffee from our waitress)and watched them completely finish their breakfast before my man got up & went to the front to see where our order was. Turns out our waitress passed our table 5 times & never realized we were still waiting on our food! So we quietly got up & to top it off they had us pay for our coffee!!!! Most places I give at least a make up visit before I'm so quick to judge but in all of our travels this was by far the worst we have ever been treated. The cook misplaced our ticket & not one person tried to apologize about the Crappy service or their mistake! I will not recommend this cafe to anyone I know. Very poor customer service.

Was not very happy with it tonight. I think they have switched cooks or something because the food was definitely horrid.

I absolutely love this cafe. A cozy little mom & pop local favorite. Everything I had today was clearly homemade, and was amazing. The vegetable beef soup is the best I've ever had. Perfect for a cool winter day. I can't reccomend it enough. If you have a chance, you should definitely check it out. It's worth a stop on your way to or from wherever your travels take you.

Good food and friendly service, but make a reservation regardless of the day of the week. Waited almost an hour to be seated for two on Saturday. Steak was delicious, brussle sprouts came from the freezer and the bartender doesn't understand syrup to drink ratios. Strawberry margarita was so sickly sweet as to be almost undrinkable. Will eat here again, but with a call ahead and sticking to beginner drinks.

We have been snowbirding in Benson the last 3 years and this places ALWAYS has the WORST service. But we keep going back because food is good and limited choices in the area. It’s just poorly managed and most of the waitresses have an attitude. Watched customers get up and walk out, multiple times in the last 3 years. Just some basic 101 management and this place would do even better.

Went tonight after research while staying in Benson overnight and was so glad we came as it really hit the spot! I was craving chicken fried steak which they had along with other comfort foods, and hubs had the Salisbury Steak. Both were excellent! Portions were huge but we decided to try the coconut pie since they were out of the Almond Joy Pie to add to the doggie bag. We are from FL but will come back in the future!

A taste of grandma's cooking. Absolutely wonderful place to stop, relax and grab a great mall. Plus desert. See pic. I had the chicken cordon bleu and wife plus one had fish and chips. Everything was excellent. Building is from way back when this town was hoping. Has some great hidden history.

I ate at the horseshoe cafe on 3/9/19. Wow! Was there ever a waiting line. Not a problem. I will wait for good food. Having eaten here around ten years ago I was happy to wait for great food. We ordered our drinks and food. The wait staff was very good. Our food arrived and that is when the disappointment began. The salad appeared to be from a package like the ones we buy at a grocery. The salad was made up basically of lettuce, carrots and two tiny tomatoes. We were with friends and I had really built up the food. The food was terrible. By no means was this the first country fried steak I have eaten, but it would be close. The breading around the streak tasted like dough. Not totally cooked. The gravy was good, but the corn was cold. Bread was not served with the meal. No bread? Come on. Our friend was served salad. She asked for onion for her salad. .89 cents Xtra. My wife was charged x for a vegetarian hamburger. Beans are more expensive than hamburger? I would not wait to eat here again. The decor is awesome. The tea was very good. My friends chicken breast was very good. His potato was like mine cold and hard. Keep in mind this was on a fairly chilly day. Try it. Any place can have an off day.

I asked them how their coleslaw was and they just gave me one to try. I had a piece of coconut cream pie that was so so. I'll give their service five star their food a four, but I really like that place.

Really good food, but they lack enough staff to take care of everyone! There are a couple if fantastic waitstaff, but others are very slow! They need a bus personas they Hostess tries to clear tables, but then you can't pay your bill or get seated. We have left after either waiting in line with empty tables, or tired if waiting for the waitress to order.

Skip it, drive into Tucson. The waitress informed my husband and I that our order was lost after waiting 40 minutes for our food. She offered us free pie pie to make up for the wait. We accepted her apology and told her what pie we would like. 5 minutes later she brought our burgers which were cold. I asked for mine to be warmed. She took it to warm and brought it back 5 minutes later colder than before. We didn't get our pie either.

We were passing through Benson heading east when my bride asked to stop for breakfast. Horseshoe Cafe was on main street through town right off the freeway. It's a bit of a hole in the wall but what a find. We were greeted like family (no hugs) and the smell of home baking permeated the room. We were promptly seated and served. We both had the $5.50 breakfast special: two eggs, a meat choice, toast or French toast and coffee. Everything was served hot, correct and fast. The waitress was a dear, checking on us several times. If make it he trip from Tucson just to eat here again

On Friday nights they have fish and chips with all the fish you can eat it is haddock which comes from the East Coast and it is the best fish and chips I have had in the state of Arizona definitely will go back on Friday nights

Waited 10 minutes to have my name put on the list to be seated-there were empty tables. After being seated waited 5 minutes to have my drink order taken, which was not delivered. Another waitress saw how long we were waiting and asked us what we would like to drink and brought it to us. French fries were cold.

Very good food. We ordered the Ruben sandwich, wrangler burger and the chicken-fried steak sandwich. They brought a chicken-fried chicken sandwich instead but we didn't mention it until the check. All the food was very good. Just a mix up in the order kept them from 5 stars.

Small Mom & Pop place. Clean, well presented. Prompt, friendly service. I had a Denver omelette & home fries. Be prepared to get a togo box. I'm a big guy. But I couldn't finish my breakfast. The horseshoe. Will be my go to. When ever I'm in Benson. It should be yours too.

I've only eaten there on Fridays for their all-you-can-eat fish lunch. They serve it battered, fried, or grilled with fries and coleslaw. You can substitute sweet potato fries for a bit more. Their iced tea is always fresh and good. Service is always friendly and efficient no matter how busy they are, and they get pretty darned busy on Fridays. If you come at noon, be prepared to wait a bit. Their house-made pies are to die for, and they always have a good variety (well, depending on how late you go). All in all, this is about the only place we ever go in the surrounding area, and we love it. We meet friends there for lunch often. The only detractor is that they are kind of skimpy on their serving of coleslaw, but by the time I get to my fish, I've forgotten anyway.

The chicken fried chicken was fabulous, loved the crunchy breading and so moist and tender. Served with brussel sprouts that tasted good (kind of like bacon) but very overcooked. Disappointed in the dinner salad (why 4 not 5 stars) with only iceberg lettuce and a few grape tomatoes. Love the salads at Texas Roadhouse (hint, hint).
