Went here for the first time with a huge group, the staff was super friendly and I would recommend the iced coffee with hazelnut. Great vibes, small so its got a nice personal feel. Extra comfy seats too that was a plus. Didn't try the food but you should, the pastries looked delicious and fresh.

The place is very nice and welcoming inside. The staff is friendly. The food is ok, the coffee is average. The price very reasonable but the quality is not great. If you live really close to the cafe its good. If you are willing to travel a third of a mile down the road there are 2 better shops for food and coffee.

It was hot inside and it kind of smelled like sewage at some points. The two girls there weren't very hospitable as well. They focused more on talking rather than greeting. I mean.. I don't care if you guys are talking, but at least say something like give me a moment while I'm standing there waiting.

I'm in love. I got a hot chocolate with toasted marshmallows and whipped cream. The marshmallows were toasted to perfection. I came in the on a weekday evening and there were a good amount of people present, but it wasn't too packed. Also I loved the music. Great spot.

A chill environment that is family friendly and yummy food. I live about 5 minutes away, so it's close to me. Also, its right across the street from the light rail for those who may be coming from a further distance. The customer service is great and every time I've been, there's been plenty of space to sit. Would definitely recommend!

Whenever I'm on Central and Roosevelt I always try to stop in and get some of their amazing ice cream. They always have some new flavor not sure if it local creamery that makes the ice cream but it's absolutely delicious and it's a cozy spot to get homework done. The owner is very beautiful Latina very involved in the community I love to see how they have revitalized downtown. I remember when there was nothing there I can barely recognize it now however it is beautiful. BTW their pastries and coffee drinks are also very delicious if you haven't stopped in to try you really need to.

This is very quickly becoming a centerpiece of the Downtown Phoenix Arts Community. This spacious, well-decorated coffeehouse has a very healthy selection of light food, as well as excellent coffee. Their coffee comes from all over the world, and they even have ICE CREAM. Want a great place to spend maybe $10, relax, work on that college term paper, write your poetry, or your first novel? Go straight to FairTrade. Beautiful people, outstanding place. 5 Stars.

Awesome local coffee shop. Definitely fits in with the Roosevelt vibes. Plenty of seating options inside, with a mix of tables and couches, plus outdoor tables. The food is great, and reasonably priced. A lot of variety on the music playlist, though tended to lean upbeat. Did not try the ice cream, but others were discussing how much they enjoyed it. Also appreciate the local artists represented on the walls. Highly recommend!

Love what this place stands for. There’s plenty of comfortable seating. I’m here on a Saturday late afternoon so it isn’t that crowded. Lots of wooden tables that can fit 6 people a table and there are 3 seaters and 2 seater tables as well or tables you can share with other people at the coffee shop. Just want comfortable seats to chill and sit with chairs side by side if you just want to come and chit chat with a friend or take a date here. I ordered a decaf vanilla latte with coconut milk. It’s my off coffee day, but I wanted to check out this place and get out a bit. They have other milk alternatives like almond milk, soy milk. It’s located in downtown and there are free 2 hour street parking spots. Nature calls? No problem, they have huge metal spoons to the far left of the register counter for the unisex restrooms #1 & 2. There is music playing above and it’s at a good volume so you don’t have to yell. While I was here, they played some old classics. Very Coast. If you are sitting near the window you’ll see benches for public transportation and there’s an outlet extension with six slots for your laptop or other devices. You just have to bring your own charger.

We've been visiting a different cafe every Sunday after church and have been bringing our dog along as the cafes allow them inside the establishments. Last Sunday we visited The Fair Trade Cafe, which is very conscientious to eating healthy and sustainably. Seeing that I am gluten intolerant, it was nice that they had a GF cookie... That was a special treat for me to enjoy! Our Layla is a people watcher and our loving dog of 9 years. We walk the 4 blocks from our apartment, so we stay until just before dusk after the day has begun to cool off. When I asked the staff if that was okay, she said most definitely! The food was extremely tasty and the coffee was outstanding!

In short: bad food, horrible coffee, mediocre service. Detailed experience: Went to this place on 1/1/2019 as I was walking by and it was one of the very few places open at that time. The place itself is cute, feels a bit cozy, yet modern. A nice place to go and work or study, I'm sure. Upon arriving, was greeted in a cold way, was quickly asked what I'd like to order. When I asked for a minute to look at their menu, the cashier just stood there with a face like I was causing such an inconvenience (and I gotta say, there was no one in line behind me, nor did she have anything else to do since the whole time I was there she was looking bored on her phone or walking to the back to chat and laugh with some other lady in the kitchen). I asked for a grilled cheese. Then, even though it was not on their menu, I asked if they could make a cortado (which is relatively simple) since they do make espresso drinks. The cashier then asks what a cortado is and states she normally doesn't work there, I believe she said she was the baker, not totally sure if I heard that correctly. I went ahead and told her what a cortado is and somehow she then acted like she knew. I was going to order something different, but she said she could make it, and since it's rather easy, I figured "why not?". She charged me for my order and as I was going to sign, I noticed it was only $3.81, so I asked what she had charged me for and she said "the cortado". Told her I had also asked for a grilled cheese. She didn't even make an apologetic gesture or anything, she made me feel like I was the one who should be apologizing for the misunderstanding. Service was quick, so that was nice. Got the "cortado", I had two sips of it and couldn't drink it, it was bad. I imagine it was mainly due to poor quality coffee that is being used more than how it was prepared, but either way it was undrinkable. So I waited for the grilled cheese, as there's really no way to mess up a grilled cheese, I thought. Well, they found a way! It looked nice on paper, three cheeses, and it comes in either panini bread or multi-grain; I figured panini would be nice. The bread was thick, cold, a bit stale, looked like it hadn't been toasted at all and there was only a thin layer of cheese in the middle. I had to remove all the extra cold bread to eat the cheesy part only, which wasn't even that good. I ended up chugging down half of the espresso drink as to not throw away too much liquid and stuffed napkins in the cup to cover what was left of it. Horrible food, horrible coffee, mediocre service. Perhaps other items are good, I've heard the ice cream there is, I wouldn't know and I'm not planning on going back to find out. This review is based solely on this, my first and only experience at this cafe. Looks like other people have had better experiences.

Awesome smoothies and baked goods. Can't say anything regarding the coffee, as I personally don't drink the stuff. Graphic/vulgar artwork displayed on the walls was a bit much. Showcasing local artists' work is extremely important, but I think there should be some consideration where food service is involved. Cool little coffee shop though.

Delicious breakfast and lunch choices. Quirky decor and awesome staff. We ordered the the hangover special, the spicy BBQ hash, the maple bacon donut and the red velvet cake donut. Everything was superb. Prices were also reasonable, and service was fast. Next time I look forward to getting the Biscuits and gravy (only served weekends). Very helpful and courteous staff! Hummus (regular not the jalepeno) was too spicy for me and my 7 year old and they gave us some delicious bean dip to replace it. We went here for coffee and the service was terrible. The blonde cashier was so busy talking to her friend and did not even realize I was waiting for a while. When I said my order, she asked if I paid or not. Why would I stand at the cashier for an order I have not paid?? I asked for a vanilla latte and it tastes like a regular latte. I have tried a fair amount of vanilla latte in my life, and this is one of the worst vanilla latte. Also, my family asked for the bathroom key and the same cashier forgot to give it to them. They asked 3 times for the key. Having been to many hipster coffee places, this is really disappointing. I don't get the hype or why this is a good place to go to.

This is your typical hipster coffee joint-- unique, locally-owned, and frequented by students and young professionals. I'm not a coffee drinker but I have had their smoothies which are very good. However, they are a little pricey. The baked goods are also delicious so be sure to check those out! Overall, a nice place to hang out, maybe get some work done, and hang out with friends. Love this place. The most important thing, of course, is that their coffee is great, but their menu is way bigger than you'd expect, too. I love the ambiance of this place: mellow and relaxing. A place to meet friends or a getaway where you can work quietly. I never feel subliminally pressured to leave. This place gets packed, however, they have outdoor seating front and off to the side in the shade. There sandwiches are always so fresh. I've enjoyed there hummus crudite plate and highly recommend the peanut butter cookies. What about there coffee? It's always good, the flavor opens up. Try there seasonal specials. I had a maple pecan iced coffee great new flavor to try.

They are getting busier and as a local downtowner, the "niceness" and positivity of the baristas here are going downhill. Today will be the last time my Mother and I go in here because this morning their staff was shorted and the barista was very annoyed and took it out on my Mother by giving us a terrible attitude. Today we had to go to an AA meeting and met up at Fairtrade to get a Lyft. The barista served us coffee that we didn't even order and when we told her we were waiting for our ride she got mad and threw her hands up and gave us so much attitude that we just left feeling very badly. It's like she passed her negativity straight on us. So I'd like to give praise to locally owned coffee shops and I have been an avid customer here for almost a decade, sadly today I won't be going back ever. If you're going to be angry, please be mindful towards paying customers.

I really like the location, the atmosphere, and the open hours of this cafe. It would probably be the one of few cafes open late in this neighborhood. Coffee/tea is not great but good enough! And of course, people are very friendly. Highly recommend if you are in the neighborhood after 6 or so and just wanna hang out with your friends for a while.

Go to Songbird Coffee around the corner they actually act like they enjoy their job. The lady that works the counter @ Fair trade is extremely rude, it's sad how so many owners put their lifeblood into the business, but let rude people deal with the public. Not good. The coffee they serve is ok, I only go because I don't like corporate companies like Starbucks etc. And I try and support as many local companies as possible. This will be my last time going...

Just meh. Dont come here looking for incredible coffee drinks. Its all standard in size and taste. Nothing is bad, per se, but also nothing is great either. I like the iced jasmine green tea. Bathrooms are spacious. Hardcore hipster vibe throughout.

( typically here twice per week ) ( The good ) Great atmosphere, trendy underground music, no unwanted lightrail company ( while indoors ) , solid menu, clean restrooms, majority friendly staff, and flexible drink creation. ( The bad ) My only knock is the rotating artistic nude decor. It's definitely distracting and a bit much. No business would be lost if it was removed but keeping it certainly restricts those who I can invite here.

Open 6am - 10pm. Really friendly staff and most folks fluent in both Spanish and English. The folks who come in are very friendly and the cafe is open to hosting charity events, art events and anything that relates to supporting the community. There is local artwork hanging around waiting to be bought and the food + drinks are all acquired through fair trade. Puppy friendly and the coffee is priced around $2.50 and other food ranges around $10 a plate. Great atmosphere!!
