The best Navajo Tacos in town, according to our host family. They were huge and delicious.
This is definitely a locals favorite, which is a good sign! The fry bread was delicious, and yes, the Navajo tacos are huge.
Great little restaurant. Friendly staff. Excellent service. The Navajo Taco is terrific!
The chimichangas are the best I have had anywhere. And they are huge. The shredded beef melts in your mouth! The service was a little slow, but that may have been influenced by the fact that we were there just before closing. The chimis are still as good as they were 22 years ago when the Martinezese were running the restaurant. We didn't try any other dishes.
So good! We saw a billboard on the way into town, and had to stop. Not disappointed. Friendly service, delicious Navajo Tacos, and cute restaurant.
We tried to go for lunch. After sitting down and waiting for 15 minutes, we decided to leave. The restaurant was not busy and we felt as if our business was not welcome, so we chose another place to eat.
Great Navajo tacos! Also recommend the posole. Staff is very nice and easygoing.
Not good. Way to expensive. Bought a Chimichanga and iced Tea 18 bucks. Do not recommend.
Great food
Slow service food was ok
This was authentic Mexican food. Best chicken chimichanga ever. Chicken tender and delicious. Nice atmosphere friendly service and good prices. Excellent place to eat!
Very cute place with great service and good food.
Very friendly. The staff all helped with directions to nearby attractions. Menu every good with a lot of selection. Prices were on pat with other places on the area. Our food was excellent and the service was good.
A great dining and sit down experience.
"Chips" came to be prefabicated nachos with a spicy mediocre sauce. Coffe was disgusting. The staff lady was not nice at all.
Definitely an amazing dining experience!!! My friend and I were on a cross country road trip from PA to CA and happened to be passing by here during lunch. The server was extremely friendly and knew how to make appropriate food suggestions when asked about vegetarian options etc. The food was delicious and quite filling. I had a very light dinner that night because I was so full from lunch. They have some Mexican food that I've never had anywhere else. Original stuff. Highly recommend you to stop by if looking for lunch
Love the chimichangas here, I would recommend it.
Definitely worth the stop and you must try the Navajo Taco. Since we have two vegetarians in the family they were able to make a vegetarian version of the taco. Friendly service and so much better than a chain restaurant!
Great spot
Omg...u hv to try the Navajo tacos it's the bomb....
Delicious and well priced. Love the salsa!
Absolutely, I DO NOT Recommend this Cafe which they claim a mexican cafe/ restaurant. I repeat, I DO NOT recommend! From salsa to chips to fajitas to guacamole and to quesadillas are far beyond mexican dish! It is not nice to say “ horrible” on food but this is really the right description. Second, they are very pricey for a bland nor no flavor at all food. I was having a “ mexican restaurant phobia” when we were travelling arizona and New Mexico. I am deadly and bloodily serious! I developed a phobia and so scared to go to the mexican restaurants any where in AZ and NM after what i had experienced at Amigos Cafe. I truly regretted myself on why I insisted to eat at this Cafe and in fact Mc Donald is just nearby. I would probably more happy. Please, if used to have a good, tasty authentic or not even so authentic real mexican food please... please... please.... please... DO NOT GO Amigo Cafe in Kayenta, AZ. You will surely get disappointed! Lastly, I gave one star for the service, I guess. Otherwise, overall food experience was horrendously not good.
very Good! homemade salsa is excellent. friendly staff and good prices!
Popular with locals. Food and service were ok, definitely not deserving more than 2-3 stars, though. As other reviewers mentioned, refried beans tasted like they were from a can. Selection of Mexican, Navajo and American items from the menu. Inexpensive.
Best place in town to eat. Good food, decent prices. Staff is very friendly.
Food is wonderful! People so pleasant. We ordered the Pozoli and it was as good as the spanish version only it had way more meat. Went back for breakfast and still very satisfied had the Chorizo......coffee was great...just didn't have decaf.
Great friendly service.. food is great..
Unbelievable food, fry bread is so delicious.
Good taco
Nothing has changed still authentic canned bland Mexican food
The service decent. Food taste out of the can. Avocados was store bought. Not from scratch.
This restaurant was a pleasant surprise! The service was excellent, quick and friendly. The food was very good. I would strongly recommend.
Our server was nice but this place isn't what it used to be. I was shocked at how small the Chimicanga had gotten and how expensive it was priced. The food was good but too expensive for such a small portion. At those prices you would think they would have remodeled or extended the restaurant by now.
I wasn't impressed with their food and service. They claim to be traditional American cuisine, where most of they have on the menu was tacos and enchiladas...!!
Just an awesome place to eat and get your authentic Navajo Taco!
This is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to! The food is amazing as well as the service! I ordered the chimichangas and loved them at the first bite. The waiters are very kind and give good suggestions. It’s also not too pricey. I would definitely come back again!
Great spot. Laid back but efficient. Waiter were great.
Good food open Wed-Sat
Food here is just ok, there's not much to choose from and far as restaurants go.
Had a very positive experience and good service.
An authentic restaurant in the heart of the Navajo Nation. Great service, bottomless coffee, nice Navajo tacos. We enjoyed our lunch here. It was a great spot to unwind and warm up. Check it out!
Great place for lunch. We had the red sour cream chicken enchiladas and green sauce cheese enchiladas. Think a lot of locals eat here.
Pretty good. Especially for where it is, about as far from Mexico as you can get culturally. Quick service.
Good combination plate. Excellent service.
Delicious fry bread, wonderful, friendly staff. Highly recommended.
We stopped here on our way home to Colorado. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly! Stop in, you won't regret it!
Enjoyed a delicious meal
Excellent breakfast on the way to Monument Valley
The food at amigos is very plain.... Rice and beans are very plain, especially the beans! They taste like they are from a can. As for my entree, which was the chimichanga it was good. The homemade salsa was good, nice amount of heat but the chips were stale. Overall I'd say this place is long shot from being considered "authentic Mexican American" the prices are a little too high and the food is sup par.
Kind of crowed tables & chairs.
Super friendly great food!!! Salsa is really spicy but awesome. Red Chile very tasty. Frybread was fluffy.
I'm a local here in Kayenta
I dont like Mexican good.
Clean, wonderful service, excellent food. The fry bread was the best I've ever eaten anywhere. An oasis in the desert.
Shredded beef was icy cold.. The food was kind of blend.. If you are hungry, it would be good. The server was excellent, the restaurant was clean, the appearance draws you.
Decent food, small dinning area,a bit pricey.
Bit of a time warp, reminds me of what we thought Mexican food was in the 80s. Hot stoneware plates, a pile of rice, a dallop of beans and melted yellow cheese over everything. The only thing missing was a spoonful of sour cream with a black olive and a toothpick Mexican flag. Not many other options around though and we drove the 24 miles to eat here rather than suffer through the slop they serve at Golding's.
Our experience at amigos was very terrible...... the two times we went there we were ignored and not asked anything. We told the server that we were ready to order but the people the were seated after us got there order and we were just bypassed. So the customer service and waiting staff is very terrible. They either need to hire more staff to cover the entire floor and accommodate their customers or continue to ignore their customers and keep getting bad reviews.....
One of the only in town. Better than the Hotel cafe. Great local food
Food & Service was really GOOD! We missed you on Sunday. See you next time!
The food was authentic and awesome. The service was the best part. We even took frybread to go!!
Tex-mex so good your abuelita will get mad you ate here. Nimasaní will thank you because she didn't have to cook.
Service is awesome, food is great everytime I come here. Thank you so much!
Fast and friendly service in this packed-out café. If you’re expecting lots of flavor, you will be disappointed in the meat/beans filling on the Navajo taco. I had to douse mine with Tabasco sauce to taste anything. But the fry bread is good and everything fresh. The Navajo tacos are just about 1 foot across and can feed two people if you like things bland. One more thing: the red chili sauce is just weird and tastes nothing like the typical salsa you get at a Mexican restaurant. it has a burnt taste and is similar to the mole sauce in Mexican cooking.
nice friendly place and good food
Great service and food! The chimichanga and fry bread a la mode were delicious!
Poor quality
On our way back from Monument Valley, we decided to stop for dinner in Kayenta, AZ. We checked Google and Trip Advisor reviews and settled upon the Amigo Cafe. We were delighted. The food was delicious. The service was fast and the staff were very courteous. We had Navajo burgers and tacos -- the portions were big and we shared. I would recommend and, if I found myself back in the area, I would gladly dine there again.
The chimichanga is super good it's so close to monument valley! I love to old time vibe to the place as well. Certainly worth a stop!
Excellent food. We had the pork posole/fry bread and Chile rellano entres and they were prepared as Continental Mexican Cuisine, except for the fry bread which is native in Arizona and New Mexico. It was delicious!
Very good food
Spicy and tasty. Cozy. Good service. Good food. Family friendly. Only one bathroom per male/female.
Very good food and very good service; plus logical prices. Dennis
Great food, fun, service, price. Awesome!
We came here last year, we came again all the way from Ohio to eat here again does that explain how good it was??? Navajo burger is worth a 4,000 mile trip!!
We stopped by here for lunch on our way to Monument Valley. The food was fantastic. I ordered the Navaho Taco. It was huge, so go hungry if you order this. It was beans, lettuce, tomato and cheese on Navaho fry bread. So good. I also tried the salsa which was real spicy and had a great flavor. The people were friendly and I’d definitely recommend stopping by here for a meal packed with variety and great flavors.
First time there, I liked what I ordered and it was not expensive. Recomend tge frybread, it was great.
The meal was great here at Amigos Cafe. And the servers are helpful and kind.
Fairly acceptable as a favorite eatery. Love the salsa, Navajo tacos, and staff.
I discovered this spot while I was traveling. I can't say enough great things about it! What put me over the moon was their homemade salsa. I swear I could taste the earth it was grown in, and just the right amount of heat. If you find yourself near here while you're wondering do yourself a favor.
The cafe / restaurant is ok but nothing special. The waiter was very nice but that does not tear everything out. The prices are upscale, the food only OK. You get full.
Great place! Awesome food. Friendly staff. The homemade guacamole was divine!
I'm a local and I always order my usual which is the El Combination Plate. It's always fulfilling. The only down fall is the space. It's very small and crowded. I wish they could expand the building. Hopefully that's in the works. I think if they did expand the building they would have alot more service and alot more happy customers especially the tourist.
Friendly staff, good food, good portion sizes. The Navajo fry bread is really good.
Good service, good food, good ambiance
There food was amazing. They have choices for everyone and their staff was great. Possibly the best chimichanga I have ever had. You might as well plan on buying the salsa too because it is addictive as crack.
Great food!
We always try to stop here when travelling. Bring your appetite and go for the Navajo tacos with the green chilli.
Nice waiters, we walked in at 8:15pm and they close at 9:00 pm but that wasn’t a problem. Try the fried bread!
Excellent fry bread. My wife had the Navajo taco, I had the ham taco. Both were great. They were busy, lunch rush, yet still gave us great service. Will definitely stop here again when passing through.
Great place! We were greeted with a smile and great service. Thank you guys! Dinner and breakfast was really good and the lady refilled my coffee I dont know how many times while we were waiting for our meal. (As it should be). I really loved this place.
We had lunch here twice. Enchiladas and Navajo taco were both really tasty. Friendly and fast service. Very reasonable prices.
Nice
The staff are friends and the #3 is my favorite. It's always clean. The salsa is hot but yummy. Too bad it's closed on my laziest day.
Really great food. Good service as well. Chile rellenos were great.
It's good...but if the place was a little bigger would be nice
My Fav is Beef Chimi, Combo Plate & Cool Waiters...
The food is good... gets crowded but the people there are wonderful at keeping up with their guests.
Good food
Good food. Needs a little more spice some kick to it. Service needs improvement but the place is kept pretty clean
Mexican Omelet is always delicious with tortilla...
Stopped here on our way to Monument Valley. Had to have breakfast. We all got Breakfast Burritos and a side of Navajo Frybread. The burritos were full of eggs and beans with hash browns stuffed in them. They were huge! The Frybread was delicious by itself and with honey on top. The orange juice was a bit sour, but still drinkable. A small place, but loves the table service and friendly people.
Stopped on our way to Four Corners. Great food and very friendly and accommodating staff. Navajo Taco was very good - enough for two people. Highly recommend this family run place.
Been there in February 19. Incredible food, especially the salsa
The food was better 10 years ago.
Honest mexican and navajo food in a country rustic atmosphere.
Delicious food, fun atmosphere and delightful staff
Awesome Navajo food.
Service was great, the meal was filling and very good. Fare price. Gabe
Wasn’t expecting good food but it was, took my mother and son there for graduation lunch!
I enjoy their Mexican cuisine. I'm a nibbler, but one thing I noticed is the serving portions are smaller.
This place is amazing!!! Will definitely make our way back here!!!
Excellent find for the area! The chimichanga was very crisp and tasty. Tamale had a very good texture. Also loved the fry bread.
Great ethnic food. Quick service. Reasonable rates.
Good place to eat.
Good mexican food
Good food and good service. A real treat.
Stopped here on our way cross country from CA to NY, had the Chimichanga.. DELICIOUS! Staff was so friendly and nice. One of my favorite stops driving cross country!
Food is delicious. We always leave satisfied. ,
I think it’s great for that area and interesting to eat here and not expensive. We had Navajo fry bread tacos and they were massive. We had leftovers! Enjoyed them, but even better was the fry bread ice cream sundae!! One of us had a burger but liked it. One had a Navajo burger and liked it. We really needed the hot sauces to add more flavour, but that did the trick for sure. Good service and really enjoyed the experience there; it’s probably the best in the area, but I’m reviewing based on food elsewhere.
Good food.
We spent the night nearby and came here for dinner based on the reviews of others. We were not disappointed: the food was delicious and the service was quick and friendly. The fry bread is, of course, delicious.
This was an incredible surprise!!!! Saw the sign coming in from the east and thought we would give it a shot. The food was increadible. I had the Navajo burger, increadible authentic fry-bread and two patties. My wife had the Navajo taco it was 9-10 inches wide she said it was great could only est half of it. Go enjoy increadible fry-bread and great food for a good price.
Great lil restaraunt with great food and service.
Good food and good service.
Excellent restaurant with very nice people. The salsa is deliciously spicy and the burritos are great. Don’t forget to try the fry bread.
The best Navajo Taco around.
We try to eat at Amigo Cafe every time we roll through Kayenta on our way to Valley of the Gods and southern Utah. The service has always been friendly and fast and the food is delicious. The salsa is fiery and tasty and I slather it on EVERYTHING. Try the Chimichanga or any of the combo plates and make sure you save room for the fry bread a la mode for dessert.
Very good food and present it well. But place is small. Holds about 50 people. Go anyway for the experience.
Awesome place but does need to be larger for more room for seating.
Great little place with great food and friendly servers! We met a national park ranger in the Grand Canyon that recommended we go to Amigo's and we weren't disappointed.
Wow! Every dish we ordered was delicious, and the service was so friendly! The people working here are kind, and clearly take pride in their food and service. Thank you, we'll be back !
the best will come back
It’s nothing that will send you over the moon, but it’s as good as anything you will find in a small town on an Indian reservation. The choice of options is plentiful with the ability to satisfy any appetite or diet, which is certainly a feat on its own that many establishments available in much more competitive markets can’t match. I had the Navajo taco, and while it isn’t a gourmet experience that is impossible to match, it was very hearty and satisfying. Of course, my exposure to frybread is quite limited, so it was a treat to be able to have it, and it certainly was the highlight of the meal, as the toppings were fine, but maybe below average compared to what I can find elsewhere. One issue is that I detected chunks of meat in my dish, when it’s supposed to be meatless With that being said, the waiter was very kind and genuine, despite being by himself during a busy time with a lot to handle. The prices were also very solid, especially considering the large portion sizes (to the point that I couldn’t even finish my dish). While I can’t expect anything extraordinary for road trip food, this was certainly more satisfying and enjoyable as an experience than most road trip food that I have experienced
Great local food. Loved it
The frybread is awesome znd the staff are over the top.
THEE worst place I've ever eaten in my life! Totally gross!! Bland and just weird tasing all together! Salsa was green chili tomato puree..chips were cold. Taco shells tasted like they were fried in community oil!! Barf! Do not eat here unless you like throwing your money away and then eating at McDonalds!
Rellanos were excellent! Service was friendly and welcoming....Fry bread ala mode ..yum!! Would definitely come back.
This place is fantastic! Service is great and the food was too. If you are in the area, this is a must stop!
Awesome food, can't remember the name of the soup but it had pork and hominy in it and it was amazing!
We were heading to Monument Valley and decided to try this place out for lunch. Didn't want the usual fast food chains that are so readily available in the area. The restaurant is small and cozy but brightly decorated. Service was friendly and fast. No complaints so far. My wife ordered the tamale combo plate and I had the Navajo Taco. This is where things went downhill. The tamales were small and although they had plenty of sauce on them she said they didn't taste like they were fresh or even made on location but more like store bought. Not bad, just not worth the price even considering the amount of rice and beans that accompanied the tamales. The taco was good. The frybread was delicious, certainly. The beans were thick but weren't bad. Overall it was decent enough and definitely plentiful. Overall, yeah, I've had worse food for that much or more. I would go back if we're in the area again. It beats fast food at any rate. But I wouldn't go out of my way to go back.
Best Navajo taco I've had!
Good food.
Cheap but good! really tasteful food! Would recommend!
Small place to eat, Mexican, American good food friendly and helpful. Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Great Navajo tacos!
Stumbled on this place after stumbling out of monument valley. Dont judge a book by its cover. Worth the stop. Salsa was delicious and the kids ate the fried bread a la mode so fast I couldn't take a picture. Get the Navajo burger with green chilies
Very good. Great service!
Very unimpressive. Ordered three dishes, none were good. This can't be the best place in town according to TripAdvisor. Seriously, both McDonald's and Burger King are just down the road, and even though I prefer authentic food, I'd rather go there. Sorry Amigos.
Frozen Food quality Mexican food at best. The food is more than likely prepared with canned ingredients from the local grocery store.
Amazing food! The best chimney chonga I have ever had. Great place to stop
I love this place. I'll drive 2500 miles to eat here.
Good fry bread
Small, friendly environment with very personable service. I just ate a regular burrito. The refried beans were amazing. It was all very simple but tasty. They don't serve alcohol, but I did not miss it. I would go back anytime.
Good Navajo tacos just like the last time we were here 15 years ago!
We ordered the Navajo taco's. Really big portions. Each plate was big enough for 2 people. Good red chili. The Fried bread is nice and fluffy. Small cafe type feeling. Mostly locals but we were treated well.
OK foods though the roof prices
Lots of really good food. Great service. Great prices!
