REVIEWS OF The Red Chair Cafe IN Alaska

Awesome breakfast with really unique options. I had sourdough pancakes which is a recipe I have never had and I absolutely loved them. I'm a huge fan of sourdough bread but have never had it as pancakes and it works amazingly. I got the blueberry version and the blueberries were tasty and fresh and the butter was really perfect too. Oh, and the bacon - really great flavors. To note - This place is for lack of better words a "foodie" place. The prices are higher than a greasy spoon or a Dennys but if you appreciate higher quality everything across the board it's well worth it. If you are looking for a basic breakfast to fill your gut then maybe the price will seem high. For people who appreciate good recipes and good ingredients this place is awesome.

I would give this place 6 stars if I could! Awesome details. It's one of that places you remember for long time and want to come back. It was busy and we were waiting for our food for a while but it was very good. Worth waiting.

Mike Stachewicz

Amazing food and atmosphere! Absolutely must go if in the area. They accept reservations Mon-Fri, and they're recommended if you plan on going between 8 and noon. Expect a wait on the weekend, but the food is worth sticking around for.

Kevina Mitchell

Loooooved the steampunk vibe, super cool. I had the home cured steak sandwich, delish! It came with home cut fries, also delish, but the crowning jewel of this experience was the strawberry mimosa, Lort! My friend and I are planning to go back just for those, SO good. The service was great, I must mention, this may not be somewhere you necessarily want to bring children. There's no kids menu, and generally the ambiance is geared more towards college age and up, my opinion, but just an fyi. Great, great, great!! Will definitely be going back :)

Svitlana Khomenko

Atmosphere is good, service was friendly and awesome!!

Robert Bayham

Waited to be seated. Sat for 20 minutes. No wait staff.. left went to Paris

Stack Cluster

Service was great! I was just really bummed they were out of the biscuits and gravy, that was the main reason I came here!

Kenyia Singleton

Best thing on the menu lavender Prosecco absolutely amazing would go back for that drink alone.... reindeer Scrabble with potatoes we're good was a little disappointed that you were unable to take things out or add anything additional but it was okay none the less

Maegan Winters

If you don’t mind the unfortunate location of the 4th avenue vagabonds lurking around, this is a very eclectic, authentic Anchorage gem. The menu has a wide variety of choices, as I especially appreciate the vegan and vegetarian options! The breakfast that I ordered surpassed my expectations with all the different flavors that was presented. I enjoyed every bite and I can’t wait to try another dish from the menu. I would suggest that they upgrade their drip coffee to a different brand, because it didn’t stack up with the food. Aside from that, I will recommend this restaurant and I will be back!

Luis Gomez

One of best eggs benedit I've ever had.

Jayel Lane

Fun little cafe. They have an amazing Benedict, the homemade biscuits & the hollandaise sauce are perfect. The coffee & drink selection always had something new & unique. They are a little overpriced, some of their items are definitely worth exra$, the to go case isn't for me.

Ming Stephens

Great food, not a quick stop. Noteworthy dishes: any variation of eggs Benedict (comes with steampunk potatoes, which are just wonderful), and their lemon poppyseed pancakes. They have loads of vegetarian options, and a funky steampunk/industrial ambience. Removed one star because I once had to wait over an hour for food, and some of their stranger dishes (scrapple) were a miss. Ask for details about the specials - I ended up paying $12 for a single waffle with two toppings, thinking that they certainly wouldn't just serve one thing as a "meal". In summary: order carefully (wait staff is very helpful), and allow time for service, and you'll have a phenomenal meal that could give the famous Snow City a run for its money.

Matthew Bigman

Ray breakfast options on a fun setting. Beware, weekend are busy for good reason, consider calling ahead. The lemon poppyseed pancakes are fantastic

Dan Tripp

Came back for a second visit. 1st I tried the biskets and gravy with a whiskey reduction. Too rich for my particular palate but to each their own. This time I had the Eggs Benedict Traditional which I found very well prepared and delicious. A trendy place, but a place that makes genuine effort to be so. I had the same server each visit who's name I did not catch. Young man with short blonde hair and clean shaven. He was very polite and accomedating each time.

Sonja Baron

Excellent place for breakfast. Had the baked frech toast, so yummy. They had large cups of coffee, excellent service. I would go back just to try other items.

Sagar Bansal

The food and service were good. This steampunk-themed restaurant has an interesting vibe. The ham and cheese omelette was good, and the potatoes delicious. The shakshuka had an interesting flavor. Would recommend for a quick brunch in downtown Anchorage.

kristen Grimm

Food is excellent and staff very friendly and quick.

Joshua Lenker

Amazing eggs-bene!

Ci Leigh

Tried this Cafe out yesterday as it is extremely close to my apartment! Excellent service, amazing food, and a fantastic vibe overall. Gorgeous dining area full of local art and decor. Will definitely be suggesting this resturant to all friends & family, and returning in the near future!!! So many yummy looking menu options.

I've visited this place 3 times - twice with a party of two and once with a party of four. The two times with a smaller group were excellent, however, the most recent experience with the part of four was horrible. We were told there would be a 15 minute wait, which we didn't mind and took a seat in the corner to wait. Once 20 minutes had rolled by, we started to notice that almost no one in the establishment had food on their table - everyone was waiting for their meals. We inquired about the wait and was assured it would be no longer than 10-15 minutes at the most. We debated leaving but trusted the staff when they said it would only be a bit longer. After one hour of waiting for a 4-person table, we inquired again and finally were seated after more than one hour of waiting. The service after this was extremely slow. The staff was kind and seemed to be trying really hard, but it didn't make up for the fact that it took 10 minutes to get 3 coffees brought to our table. The food was excellent - I always go for the biscuits and gravy and this time tried the spicy version. My friend and I split it and it was the perfect amount for a filling brunch.

Brian Hooks

Excellent food as well as service!! Great spot

Daniel Werth

Poor/ slow service, mediocre food, expensive menu. If you have 2 hours to drink a mimosa and have an eggs Benedict, this is your spot. Been there twice in 6 months and received the same old slow service and overpriced food.

Michael Tierese

I had a great time, good music, cool wall art, great servers, food was great. Food was priced well. Street parking, I ordered the beer biscuits and Garvey, sourdough pancakes, and a simple plate of sausage and eggs. Very clean food, no excess oil or grease, I will be back!

Christine A Eagleson

Very nice quaint location with colorful graphic arts all around the dining area walls. Excellent, fresh made english muffins and hollandaise everyday for their four signature Eggs Benedict feature dishes. Must try - side of bacon, ask for their delicious berry compote to pair with. Gracious and accommodating, friendly staff. Hidden breakfast gem ✨

Michelle Simonson

Breakfast is AMAZING! All baked goods are made fresh daily. Portions are huge. We each had more than half of our meals to take home. Can't wait to visit again.

Donna Howe

Time to update this 2 year review. "Great atmosphere, great food, friendly service. Did have to remind the waiter about our drink order."...I've gone here several times in the past 2 years and things have changed. First time i went here I had to wait a bit for my order, but nothing compared to the over 30 min wait that seems standard now. Atmosphere? Still good. Food used to be wonderful, now it is better than average and the portion sizes have shrunk. Worth the wait? No, not for the price. The Steampunk Potatoes used to be fresh, hot, and AMAZING. Now you can tell they make a big batch and leave it sitting in a warmer for use throughout the day. Don't depend on getting your food nice and hot, especially if there are more than 2 of you. Large party? You're in for a very long wait, at least 45 min for your food, with most people getting warmish food because they insist on delivering all the orders to the table at the same time, so orders are sitting around getting cold until the last order is ready. Ordering to go? Don't believe the pick up time they give you. "At most it'll be 15 minutes" means you will wait 30 min after you get there and be told by the manager that "it's difficult to judge when the food will be done in a large restaurant"...Really? It's your business to know. If your staff can't tell that a large table is going to delay orders, then they have no business taking to go orders. You're not a new restaurant. You're supposed to have this down.

Sara Silberstang

This place is unassumingly cute with high quality fare and genuinely nice staff! The kale veggie skillet (has a name that I can't remember) is delicious. I had scrambled eggs on top but I'm sure any way is good. The salmon Benedict is also top notch - I've never had salmon bacon so this was a nice treat - the hollandaise was just right. I live in San Francisco and make very good breakfasts at home. This place could blow away some of the breakfast spots in California!

John Hutchins

Food was ok. Expensive for what you get. Watch out for the hidden fees-extra for jam and butter.

Larissa Hodges

Loved it everything was on point!! I will go back fo sho!!

Ellis Home Inspections LLC

I got the French toast and a vanilla latte. The French toast resembles a slice of cake in presentation. Perfect setting early in the morning. Nice and quiet.

Dan Boccia

Just had a business breakfast meeting at the Red Chair, and as usual the food was great! Service was friendly and smooth, and in general we had a very good experience. The local art on display is super cool too. This is my highest recommendation for a breakfast spot in Anchorage!

Rebekah Bieber

Awesome food. A little slow but the wait was worth it.

Greg G

Food was good, modern decor, service a bit slow and higher prices

Matthew Colburn

Stand around for 10 min with no one there and no acknowledgment from wait staff. Forgot eggs and butter for a complicated pancake eggs and sausage order. 35 dollar breakfast out the door for 2 and still hungry. Common denominator in bad reviews: waiting and not being served. I rarely write poor reviews, however this place deserved it.

Cathy Dreyer

Disappointing experience. From the moment we walked in it wasn't a great experience. The cafe was half empty yet we still had to wait for a table. They surprisingly only had 1 menu available for us, which surprised me from so many empty tables. I ordered a mimosa, from the menu they gave us, and felt awkward when our server asked me what time it was. We placed our order at 10:19 (because the server asked me for the time) and we didn't receive our food until 11:12. We were pretty shocked, neither of us ordered anything that would take long to prepare - unless they were waiting for chickens to lay eggs for our food. The food was decent, but nothing outstanding considering the wait. We were never asked if we wanted a second drink considering we finished our beverages well before our food arrived. I feel like we should have been given a discount or been given a complimentary drink considering we wasted so much time here. Anyway, if we are ever in Anchorage again we won't return here.

Elizabeth Sosa

Horrible service, 45 minutes to get an ok breakfast

ann nash

Fabulous lemon poppy seed pancakes. Worth a visit.

Bonnie Glaze

This place is the perfect stop for breakfast and/or brunch. The food was delicious and the art was fun to look at! The Red Chair Mocha is to die for

Samantha Harris

Great menu for breakfast and lunch and it was the best latté I’ve ever had (almond/coconut). I think this is a lesser known gem a little bit off the beaten path in downtown Anchorage and I hope to return soon for another latte. I hear their cookies are also amazing but can’t speak to that yet.

Deanna Schneider

This breakfast/brunch spot is amazing. Great menu, good value. Wish we took photos of the food. Robert, our waiter, was very knowledgeable and helpful. The food really hit the spot. The eggs were perfectly poached, the potatoes are just the right crispiness. I also strongly recommend trying the mixed berry jam, I would totally buy a jar of it!

Clark Tanner

Modern feel to it, reminds me of a place you'd find in Seattle. Great contemporary art and design. Absolutely excellent food! No waiting for a table or food. Definitely going back!

timothy chavis

Decided to get here at opening time. Food was great, service was awesome. Plenty of coffee refills. Like any Anchorage Cafe, get there early or don't complain about waiting for a table or food or refills. And if you're like me and my wife enjoy the quality time.

Edward Hollins

Our last brunch in Anchorage. Can’t knock the food, it was absolutely delicious. I had the crispy grit cakes with perfectly prepared poached eggs and a yummy herbaceous sauce. Really well done. My wife’s traditional eggs Benedict were, according to her, the best she’s ever tasted. My one negative was the server, Trish W., who didn’t ask me if I wanted more coffee until I was done with my meal. Then seemed to want to rush us out. She came back to the table LITERALLY 60 seconds after she put the check down. Then checked again 60 seconds later. My wife finally paid her (as she stood over her waiting), then she brought the receipt back and handed it to me. WTF? I would 100% recommend the Red Chair, and avoid Trish if possible.

Simon Carpenter

We dropped in for our first breakfast ever at the Red Chair Cafe. I hadn't heard about this place yet, and it was very empty on a Thursday morning, compared to the other Anchorage favorite. I hear that it's pretty full on weekends, but it deserves lines out the door every day. I don't know why someone called it a "hole in the wall," except that it's a ways down the street from the big hotels. We loved the luxury of starched white cloth napkins, the quirkiness of the murals, and the looks of the to-go baked goods. The music was a bit too rocking for a quiet breakfast, but we didn't ask to turn it down, so that's on us. We had the Smokehouse Salmon Benedict and the Kale Bake Skillet, and we ate every bite. Coffee was deliciously thick. Our waiter was fun, enthusiastic, but not overbearing. We saw many other things on the menu that we want to try, so we'll be back.

Yummy selections

Joe Phillips

Great food. Great coffee.

poidog20

Good food, a little pricey though

Greg Perilleux

Great breakfast, certainly didn’t need to eat again until dinner. I kind of wish it had been smaller then I would have wanted to take away some of their cakes which looked fantastic. Eggs benedict, potatoes and asparagus, with a cup of tea. Wonderful!

Alyssa Rose

Visiting from NY. Came in for a coffee, sat down and had lunch. Waitor was super friendly and attentive, seemed genuinely excited to tell me about special of the day. Food was delicious, coffee was even better. The Red Chair mocha was so good.

Maria Rangel

Great place hard to find but hidden treasure

Lois Danks

Great breakfast.try the baked oatmeal.steampunkk art on walls

Deb Richmond

Four of us had breakfast here, and we each ordered something different. Everyone was very pleased with their food. The atmosphere is nice too. Definitely will come back here.

Reggie Presley

Excellent food excellent service!

Jen Ruckle

I just had the best BLT of my life and I'm crying because it's gone. (Applewood smoked bacon, prosciutto, avocado, tomato, lettuce, and basil aioli.)

Pete Johnson

First time this morning at the Red Chair. Frankly surprised at such mixed reviews here and that they weren’t busier. My omelette was the best I’ve had in Anchorage, with the option of grilled asparagus/sliced almonds & onion instead of potatoes. Could tell the breakfast chef takes pride in his/her work. Music is a bit obtrusive though, with no escaping so many large speakers.

Matt chu

Took a while for the food to come, but i guess you cant rush greatness, staff is friendly, food is alright and the water actually has ice in it.

logan smith

I am a huge fan. They have a varied menu, good coffee and the atmosphere is unique. I always get something different and haven't been disappointed yet.

Ilene Clemens

Awesome food, great atmosphere. The wait for food and drinks can be a little long, but on the whole a great experience

Bill Raddatz

I have enjoyed four* different breakfast experiences here at the Red Chair Cafe. I've ordered the All Out Veggie omelette**, Biscuits and Gravy with eggs and a side of bacon, and Quinoa pancakes. I can't say I prefer one of those dishes over another but I can tell you the b&g are stellar, maybe if anything a little too sweet, but stellar nonetheless. My second favorite b&g in all of Anchorage. The bacon was closer to a thick cut, crispy, and delicious. The customer service was professional and polite though sometimes a little slow. Always attentive. Their drip coffee was very good. **All Out Veggie Assorted Mushrooms, Tomato Kale, Spinach, Roasted Red Pepper, Zucchini, Onion, Herb Medley Feta to Finish *make that five

Mark Olson

We had breakfast here two days in a row when we were in Anchorage. Food and service were excellent. Kaylee was our waitress and she is a sweetheart. There was a little wait for the food but it was well worth it.

BreeAnne Padilla Rojas

We wait for an hour for our food, for one of the waiters to come over and tell us that they are out of something that one of the people in our party ordered, but that the rest of the food is coming out. So, we are going to have to wait for them to make another dish for our friend while we have our food. Why did they wait until our food was ready to tell us they couldn’t make the other person in our party their meal? Insane.

Colleen Zematis

Excellent bfast but really slow service. Was worth the wait

Sharolyn Wyeth

The salted caramel apple pancakes are fabulous! The menu is very creative - I ordered the house made scrapple with jalepeno jam... And I cleaned my plate! I also love that they feature local artists, on their walls. We did have to wait a bit for our food, but that's to be expected, when people are making real food, cooked to order. Everything here was fresh & delicious & worth the wait.

Carol Fuller

Amazing flavors and so many vegetables. Never knew anchorage would have such great food. Staff was also wonderful and so humble and happy we loved their food.

Anatoliy Grinberg

Amazing food. I can usually eat a lot and I was really hungry, but as hard as I tried I could not finish these delicious pancakes (huge portion). Staff is friendly. Atmosphere is great. Really nice place to have breakfast if u're not a fan of your hotel food. Will definitely recommend to anyone who plans to visit Anchorage.

J B

Good place, nice variation of options.

Blaine Bowen

Very "hipster" but with incredible staff that are extremely charismatic and thoughtful, the food was excellent, my eggs benedict was absolutely perfect, and the steamer was the best I've ever had. Definitely check this place out.

Barrett Allen

Good food. Bad service. Waited long to be seated. Was out of coffee and food took way way too long and had clearly been sitting under the heat lamp for a while.

Heather J

Yeah was not a fan of this place, our server sucked, we did get our burger cooked the way we like, we did get the extra avocado we ordered. They ran out of tacos at 10:00am! Seriously whos runs out of tacos! The food was ok, probably wont go back.

Larry Apalatea

First visit and enjoyed the Steam punk decor. Food was very good as was the service. A little pricey, but I will be going back.

Stacy Kahakai

It was one of thee most spectacular times I have ever had in years, we-( my wife and I ) will never forget that night like it was last night. The waitress-( Monica ) was thee most Hospitable and Respectable Waitress who never missed a beat when ever we needed something from the kitchen. With that being said-I would recommend all my family and friends to go there. Thank you so much . Sincerely, Stacy M Kahakai.

kenny gallahorn

3 different breakfast orders and they were all delicious.

Judy D - travel and be inspired

A great place for brunch. Food was amazing. Great customer service.

Lori Wikle

Service was not awesome. The food was not great. Coffee was horrible. But the place was super cool!

David Cates

The salmon benedict is SO good. House made chai to wash it down - perfection. No frills place with friendly staff. Highly recommended!

Mitchell N. Joshua

Yummy and good for stomach coffee.

Anthony Bostick

Very sweet and heavy. Very tasty. Not an every day or weekend place.

Evelyn Mccoy

A bit of a long wait however the food was fantastic!!

Ed Williams

Slow slow slow, pay for jam for toast in a small container, had to request refill for coffee

Cory Stites

The food is really good. Service on the other hand, not so much. The kitchen makes each plate one at a time, so it’s a little bit of wait for food. It took 30 minutes to place an order.

Dawn McBurney-Hibben

I love the original food choices, and the freshness of the veggies. This is a great place to have delicious wraps, sandwiches, salads, french toast, omelets, and great strong coffee. The service was exceptional, and a pleasant experience. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends.

Jeaneen Bailey

Eat breakfast here! The lemon poppyseed pancakes ar the best. Great coffee and friendly service.

Alyssa McGill

Great food and service. Fun atmosphere with awesome art to enjoy with your meal. Definitely worth going back!

lancevskiwi123

Little long of a wait, but served a very good breakfast and the staff was friendly..

Sean Ewart

Excellent food and service (I recommend the Eggs Benedict) and a solid coffee selection. Parking is around the corner and very easy to find. Once you’re inside, the atmosphere is classic coffeehouse and very inviting.

Andrea Toombs

Yummy food great breakfast

Siuwai M

We had one morning to have breakfast in Anchorage. I started googling breakfast places in the area and found this gem. The atmosphere was artsy and electic. The service was good but the best part of my visit is the food. There were many great options on the menu and it was difficult to choose one. I decided on the True Grits and it was delicious! Great flavors and textures. If I lived in Anchorage, this would be my go to breakfast/brunch place. It’s worth the price too.

Jackson Hamlett

We have been here sitting at a table for an hour. We ordered 40 minutes ago. Still no sign of food. Staff is just standing around chatting. They said they could not pull tables together to make room for more than 4 people to sit together but they did it for a group that came in a few minutes after us. Food is priced higher than it is worth. I would not recommend this place to a friend.

SierraMadreSue Behrens

Really cool decor, great food and service.

Duane Porter

Waited 15 minutes for table only to be ignored and have other that arrived later seated before us.

Rocky Burns

Great Coffee

Chase Layne

Good food at a decent price.

Lynz n

Sourdough pancakes with the caramel apple were the best pancakes I've ever had and the service was great

leolie samson

This was my first time here. The food was delicious! I had the lemon poppyseed ricotta pancakes. They were AMAZING! I also had a coconut vanilla steamer that was just as incredible. I would definitely come here again.

Carrie McCrorie

This place is a bit of a hidden gem. It’s got cool steampunk decor and the food is traditional but with a twist. They have excellent breakfast treats with several types Eggs Benedict and a really good French toast.

Suzanne Taylor

I love The Red Chair. The food is creative and amazing. This morning I ate a deconstructed tamale - corn pancake, pulled pork, black bean relish, cucumber creme, and salsa. So delish! Small venue, sometimes slow.

Quinlan Harris

Spray paint art on the walls. A wild and strangely fun clashing of art pieces laid over top of that. Add in the always delicious food and you have a recipe for a wonderful time. One of my favorite brunch spots in Anchorage.

Google mademechangemyname

15$ for a small portion of biscuits and gravy?! Get the F outta here! Waiter had me sold on it saying it was a big portion uugh! So hungry I forgot to take a picture to back up my complaint whoops! Americano coffee was unbelievably bitter. My roommate's benni's were freakin' amazing though so I guess it balanced out? Also had a really bad experience with a lady outside (homeless shelter is 2 blocks away) and she wanted 20$ to not punch our baby in the face!!!!!! My blood boiling, place left a bad taste in my mouth sorry to be so blunt but not impressed.

Jonathan Amaro

We had a party for six with no reservation and we got seated fairly quickly. We waited for our food for a bit but still pretty normal wait time. Once we got our food it was amazing and the potatoes they serve with their food it good and different and with all that aside our waiter tacked off the drinks we ordered cause he felt our wait time was long. So in conclusion we had a great experience and will definitely come back and recommend to friends and family!

C. A. Bitoni

My friends and I really enjoyed the Red Chair Cafe. The AK Creole was amazing and the service was excellent! The coffee coupled with great food and good company really made our experience worth while.

Rebecca Castaneda

The food was amazing, I have tried almost all of the top rated breakfast places and this place is the best!

Scott Carter

Almost hidden away and separate from the other restaurants along the west end, it took us years since arriving in Anchorage to finally discover this place. I feel like it has something for just about everyone. You want coffee and quick bit to eat? You got it. Sit down and casually eat? You got it. Lunch with friends or family? Definitely. My wife and I went out for brunch and I certainly had trouble deciding on anything. Eventually chose the "Hair of the Dog" biscuits and gravy and it did not disappoint. Housemade beer biscuits were amazing and the whiskey reduction was a nice touch to already excellent sausage gravy. Local beers on tap alongside plenty of mimosa options... what's not to like? Wife enjoyed her vegetarian sandwich and quinoa a lot. Service was a bit slow but all the employees were sincere, pleasant, and professional. I don't feel like it took away from the overall experience. Decor is very unique... lots of oil paintings, rustic/steampunk, and graffiti. Felt very comfortable and clean. We'll be bringing family though when they visit next time so they can try it for themselves.

Dave Allen

Don’t know how the food is. 45 minutes of waiting after the order and watching others receiving their plates I had to inquire. “I found your ticket on the floor - sorry”.

Christina Barajas

The service was excellent. It is a little on the pricey side, but worth it! My son had their almond crusted French toast (very delicious and huge), and I had their omlette verde with a side of their homemade hot sauce (also delicious) Clean and friendly environment!

Rusty Young

The Red Chair always has great food. I don't think I've had something I didn't like. I especially love their shakshuka. It's something you don't usually see in restaurants and it's very, very good.

Michael DiSarro

Great place.

Matt G.

This place has a unique decor. Don't forget to look for the red chair. Went for breakfast, and was delighted to find more than the average items on the menu. Even found some delicious vegan choices. You get what you pay for here.

Karen Maskarinec

Unique and delicious food, good service.

Jessica Winn

Excellent food! Great service! I say it rivals snow city for great environment and delicious food. It's just a tad spendy.

Ramiro Cruz

Red chair? More like the torture chair when in there with high hopes seeing all the good reviews. Good food but a horrible wait. Ordered the same time a party a four ordered. Let’s just say we didn’t get our food until the other table was leaving which was approximately 1hr and 30 minutes. Than I believe in theory that the waitress lied about the pancakes having being made from scratch when a different table after us got pancakes. We got our food and my wife still had to wait another 10 minutes for her eggs Benedict. Not a good experience. Get your stuff together. Communicate!

Bharath Tata

Supremely long wait for mediocre food. Spent two hours there. Just not worth the time or price

James Spalding

Food was mediocre and coffee was not to my liking. Server talked so fast we could barely understand him. People looking for 'original' spins on classics like omelettes and coffee might like it, but I didn't care for it.

Barry O' Brien

Best 2 egg breakfast I've had, potatoes were amazing.

Erin White

This is our "go to" brunch place. I anticipate driving an hour for the "French toast" that might as well be a delicious cake! And my partner loves the "Tesla" burger! Great service, every time! Mamosas are lovely! This place is wonderful!!! Really miss the home made giant fries, though!!

J H

An awesome place for breakfast. I'll be back for sure!

Julie Butman

Great food. Casual setting. Service was fair.

Christopher Mitchell

The food was really good, but it didn't make up for a lack of service or the price. $17 burger, $15 eggs Benedict......very good, though.

Matthew Amundsen

Great breakfast!

Madison Hunter

Super delicious food. Beautiful and interesting art throughout. If you like biscuits and gravy you'll LOVE the Hair of the Dog Biscuits and Gravy. Yum!!!

Jeramiah Crosier

Really excellent food, but only if you are not in a hurry!

Christopher Gilmore

Very great service and great coffee, I'd recommend it to my friends and family.

Mary Scardina

We got seated, and never got a drink nor had our order taken. So, after 20 min of waiting and being ignored, we walked out!

Andrea Bach

Great service and delicious breakfast. Went here with coworkers on a weekday and had no wait at all. I had the salmon Benedict and it was perfect! The hollandaise is house made and fantastic and the English muffins are also made in house. We also shared a reindeer sausage on the side and it was delish!

Ryan Bish

Orange almond french toast was top notch. Atmosphere very neat, service friendly.

Ken Killgore

Had breakfast here twice. Oatmeal was soupy, but otherwise the bacon, eggs, toast and potatoes are good.

Mei Ling

This place was OK... Not worth an over 45 minute wait for the food. The place was full so we sat by the window. It took a bit to get menus and about 10 minutes to actually order AND THEN 45 minutes for food to come out. In the meantime no one came by to check on us to refill waters or to even acknowledge that they were taking forever to bring our food out. Again, food was okay.

Lauri Laughland

Such an awesome breakfast experience from beginning to end. Our waiter, Nikola, was helpful, cheerful, and a wealth of info about Alaska. You absolutely have to try True Grits - you will love it even if you're not a grit lover. The lemon poppyseed pancakes were delicious too!

Erica Clayton

Oh wow what a GREAT place to stop in for brunch! I’m in town on vacation and stopped in after attempting to hike Flat Top Mountain. They had a currant mimosa on special and it was bomb. The vegetarian dishes are incredible and the staff was very friendly and kind. I only wish I could’ve grabbed a loaf of bread to bring home with me!

Joel Cope

Great food and atmosphere

Erica Campbell

The wait was a little long but the food was more than worth it! Our party of 5 all had different dishes and each was delicious. Their potatoes were amazing!

qiana Coleman

Loved everything about this place!! Great food, great prices, great atmosphere, great service!

My girlfriend and I went here and I ordered the fire roasted pablano pepper breakfast meal and it was excellent. Fresh ingredients. My girlfriend got the savory omelet. It was excellent too. Fresh ingredients all the way down to the mushrooms. We got a side of the French toast and it was by far the best I've ever had. It's not actually toast though. It's hard to explain but it was very very good. I will be going back to try a different dish.

Love this place! My wife took me here for the first time and it was amazing. I'm from the south and biscuits and gravy are rarely made up to par but this place makes some of the best I have ever had. Possibly better than my mom's. My wife LOVES the eggs benny here and we have had almost the entire menu. Like some others we have had a bad experience but it was dealt with promptly and we were refunded for the mistakes made. We continue to go back consistently and it will always be our go to spot.

Came here as a second choice after being unable to get a seat at another breakfast spot. With that said, this is likely the best breakfast I've ever had and this restaurant is worthy of higher praise. Really interesting decor and very interesting and unique dishes.

The food here is very delicious. I only have two complaints: there was only one red chair and the parking was awful. Seriously though, there are only a few parking spots that actually belong to the cafe and they're hard to spot. There's also not a lot of public parking in the area, especially during the weekdays. I would highly suggest carpooling or taking the time to park somewhere and walk a few blocks. The coconut steamer drink and the french toast were so good!

Food was great. Servers were courteous. But it took over an hour to get our food after we ordered.

Awesome huge portions of delicious brunch food. Savory omelet was good and the French toast bake was so rich and delicious. Good coffee too.

Salmon Benedict is amazing. Biscuits are phenomenal. Ill be back

The food was excellent but a bit pricey but we expected the food to cost more in Alaska.

Wendy Goodrich

Good atmosphere. I'll try the poppyseed pancakes next time.

The steampunk potatoes were tasty. Awesome place

May be the best breakfast in Anchorage. Definitely in the top two.

Lucy Conner

Amazing breakfast variety & absolutely delicious!

I had the fire-roasted poblano pepper and my wife had the quinoa pancakes. Both were delicious. Staff and atmosphere were perfect. We’ll be back!

I knew it would not be the fastest place so that was fine, but honestly I am perplexed at why people rave about the food. I had the true grits, which advertised jalapeño grits on a bed of creamed spinach. There were two bites that had a whisper of jalapeño, like the la croix of jalapeño. The creamed spinach seemed to be butter with just enough spinach to make it green. It was a sauce, there was no hint of a leaf left in it. By the time I ate half the dish it was way too heavy for one more bite. I felt like I got tricked into eating a stick of butter. My partner got the French toast. Idk why they call it that, it's bread pudding with syrup. This time not even a hint of the orange that was advertised. It was too sweet for me. If butter and overwhelming sweetness are your thing then I guess the food here is fine. There are other places I like a lot more.

As a frequent visitor to Anchorage I like to explore new venues instead of just visiting the most famous places. Sure glad I decided to have brunch at the Red Chair Cafe. Had a really great omelette and was pleasantly surprised when the friendly server offered up alternatives to potatoes on the side (the a asparagus were awesome.) I'll definitely be back.

Very artistic, and modern place. Not super kid friendly, food was good.

We have been in Alaska for almost 2 weeks and this was the best breakfast during our entire stay. Everything is fresh and the English muffins and the biscuits are made on the premises by the owner. Even the jams are homemade. The SteamPunk Potatoes were delicious- a mixture of regular and sweet potatoes with onions. Really good. Coffee was good, great selection of eclectic music, staff was wonderful. Can’t say enough about this place.

The stuffed poblano was delicious! Everything was yummy and good portion sizes. The staff was really nice and helpful but the service was on the slower side. Would recommend. And will go again!

Great food, service and atmosphere

Cool spot but the wait for food is always extraordinarily long. If you have time to burn then this is your spot. Not a place for a quick meal.

Great atmosphere, great food, great coffee, great decor and music, and great people! This place is a fantastic little quirky secret tucked away in downtown, and I ALWAYS recommend it to everyone I get on the subject of local restaurants with, because there's something for everyone! And on top of it, they host tango lessons on certain days of the week after restaurant hours and support local artists by displaying their work. My recommendation: Try the Tesla Burger and a Red Chair mocha- you can thank me later!
