This corresponds to the category of American restaurant.
This used to be my go to place for upscale great food when in town for work a few times a year. Food has always been on point but service painfully slow. Well the last two times sealed the deal, I will never be back. I went on a Tuesday with a party of 6. The pace was 2/3 empty and they had 2 servers. It took a full 30 min to get a glass of wine, which I had to ask for twice. We never had our water refilled and had to correct our orders and ask mutiple times for anything, like forgotten drinks or sides. The supreme insult to injury was a 20% tip included for parties of 6 or more which they never stated when we made the reservation, on the menu or by the server. It felt like theft!
Superb high concept food in a back street retail strip. What a great find! Fresh from the garden summer tomato salad, unreal sides, power fish and beef mains, a solid bar, and all half way between ATL and BHM. We have Board meetings here 4 times a year and I always look forward to it. Ab fab!
Our wedding reception was perfect thanks to Garfrerick's Cafe!
Excellent food and service.
Great Place for Dinner
Great experience every time!
The most phenomenal food!
Location not the greatest . But the food was outstanding.
Worst experience in dining..ordered carved turkey breast on choice of bread, with mayo, lettuce, tomato ; side of quinoa salad. I wanted it heated. It was served cold and cheese added. And quinoa salad is served only at dinner. No where on the menu states that quinoa salad is at only dinner. Sheesh !!!
Fabulous Restaurant. Delicious food.
Best restaurant in town
What a GEM we happened upon!!! Great farm to table restaurant!! Great menu, wonderful variety. I'll definitely revisit!
Had the pecan crusted grouper and it tasted like fish bait. So fishy. When server asked why I didn't eat, I expressed it was too fishy, but it was not taken off my bill.
Food was delicious. Lil pricey. But excellent
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. About a 40 min drive but was worth it.... However it has REALLY gone down hill!! Entrees were terrible! Chicken was tough and chewy.. I tried a bite of the Salmon and literally could not bring myself to swallow it. The grots.. veggies..and salads were good but portions were small. Sooo disappointing.
Redfish and grits Was yum but Service slow
Good food.
This place is amazing, on many levels! Personal touch, attention to detail. Food that is healthy and makes you feel good. Loved it!
Very good food and great atmosphere!!!
Always a great experience.
Always delicious! Fresh, local ingredients with an innovative twist.
Great food, great service. Need to lower the lights...too bright for a date night out!
Schicken was to dry
My wife and I celebrated my 68th birthday at Garfrerick's Tuesday night 12/19/2017. The food and service was awesome, as usual. David, God Bless You And your staff for a wonderful birthday meal!
Romantic restaurant
Great food and service
Fabulous food and atmosphere! Shrimp and Grits are my fave.
The menu was varied, the food yummy and the atmosphere relaxed. Had the shrimp and grits I have ever eaten!!!
Love the food, great service. Love the ambiance!
David does a great job- always delicious!
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. Everything was fresh farm to table cooking, and the ambiance was very modern fresh clean sensibility - very pleasant and upscale. We brought in 10 people and they were able to give us a private room and the service was outstanding - prompt, friendly, and cheerful. I had sea bass and it was perfectly cooked and tasty. Some of our meals were spectacular (steaks, salads were wonderful), other meals in the group were good, but not spectacular (shrimp and grits). The seasonal menu provided great options. A little pricey for the area, but not for the prouct.
Upscale. Great food and mostly organic. Service trends to slow side. Be prepared, it is pricey.
We stopped here on a road trip because of our gluten free app and gf reviews. I went in and asked about our options and was told the majority of items are gluten free and the staff was knowleable. Unfortunately, it turns out that about half the menu is gf but the wait staff had very little knowledge about gluten. He kept offering us items that are not gf and i would have to question him because he did not know what gf was, as they claim. In the end the food was pretty good pretty good and we have not gotten sick but if I were a severe celiac I would not eat here.
Food was Amazing. I was there with a large group (~30 people). The group had scheduled their arrival a couple days in advance with the restaurant. We were provided the 'private room', but only 1 server. She did her best, but a single person assigned to a large group like that was not convenient for anyone (server included). She did her best ...and service was 'slow'.. but only because she had a million things to do all at once (She was NOT being lazy). I was disappointed that the restaurant management only assigned 1 server to handle such a large group...particularly when we had pre-scheduled the event. When we did get our food, it was VERY delicious. I'd totally recommend this restaurant again, BUT if you're planning on a group gathering on-site... make sure you specify that you need more than one server.
Food was great, and our server was friendly and helpful
Great, great food, and very nice atmosphere! Always a pleasure to visit David's fine establishment!! Best Shrimp and Grits I've ever put in my mouth.
Service and food was amazing. I tried new things and fell in love
This is great place to go for any occasion. Very good food and atmosphere. Would refer to anyone to go gete.
Horribly slow service. Ordered martinis, salad , and main course. We received and have finished the salads. Still no drinks. Waitress said they do not have a bartender. I wonder what excuse will come with my $32 lamb. Very disappointed in what is supposed to. E a good place in Oxford.
Food was delicious!
I ate at this Cafe two years ago and still think of the fabulous food quality.
Excellent selection of food, I was traveling and read the great reviews about this restaurant and they were not lying! Just in case anyone is wondering "healthy" does not mean tofu burgers, everything I had was delicious from the turkey club sandwich to the local icecream. Highly recommend this place.
Wonderful food!
Dinner was awesome! Highly recommend the trout! Amazing! Great service.
In another city, I might given less stars, but this gem is in a small Alabama town and maintains a high standard. Recommended.
Probably the best restaurant in all of Aniston.
Cooked my husbands and my steak wrong .Sent mine back but it was still not cooked right and was the worst steaks we have ever tasted .I would never recommend eating there and I know I won't be going back
Awesome food!
Good food but they regularly run out of menu items.
Food was excellent but low on quantity very high on price. Value was not there.
THE BEST place to eat in Calhoun County! Classic on Noble for Sunday Brunch is a close 2nd!
Everything about this place is excellent!
The food was okay, but not special. Under-seasoned and bland. Neither taste nor presentation stood out. In fairness the place was packed. The help seemed stretched. Of the big three; Food quality, Service, and Location nothing stood out. Maybe the chef was rushed as house was packed, and was having a rough night. No strong inclination to return.
Great gastropub. Friendly staff. The food is freshly prepared with great skill. Great seasonal menu. I did not expect a place like this to be in the humble shopping center located behind Dollar General. Prices are far below what you would expect. This place could hold its own against any high end restaurant in Birmingham or Atlanta.
Caters to more high end customer's. Prices are a lot higher than usual. But it has a great atmosphere and the restaurant has a Bar and a Open Grill meaning that you can see your meal being prepared for you. The whole kitchen is visible from your table.
This hidden gem is perfectly placed between Birmingham and Atlanta, so schedule Sunday lunch accordingly when traveling I-20. Seriously: Garfrerick's does the farm to table thing right. This is the kind of place that once grilled me a steak for lunch -- even though their famous steaks are not on the lunch hour menu. On Sundays, the all-you-can-eat vegetable buffet includes delicious and inventive salads, perfectly cooked vegetables, and country kitchen desserts. Any chance we could persuade y'all to move to Atlanta?
Exceptional food and best service every time we visit!
The food was amazing! Really enjoyed my dinner here.
Excellent food and service. A hidden culinary gem.
Absolutely fabulous. 10 out of 10. One of the best meals I have ever had. Wonderful place to dine.
Amazing food but over priced
Casual elegance for afternoon coffee or tea, a special dessert, or a delicious dinner prepared in the open kitchen - if you desire to observe. Meals prepared with fresh foods from the garden and market. Great service.
Excellent food and service. I didn't realize the buffet was vegetarian but I love fresh vegetables too, so I left happy.
Absolutely the best food in this area. Exceptional food every time. The scallops might be my favorite, unbelievably perfect every time!
The Sunday buffet was delicious.
Their service was everything we could ask for, sophisticated, and professional. Their Dishes were delicious and beautifully plated. I definitely recommend them for your next event.
We love Garfrerick's Cafe.
Nice, upscale place
Was taken there for Valentines Saturday night food was great but service was horrible. We stayed out of drink. People that was seated after us had there food long before we did. And our waiter stayed out of sight most of the time. So for us not worth the high price if they can not hiring better waiters.
I love this place. I do miss the lunch and wish they would bring it back.
Great food. Always good when I come.
Food is good
Good food. Local, fresh, not a chain. Reasonable lunch.
Fresh flavors of southern favorites for Mother's day but the star for me was beef short rib, lima beans, and squash casserole. The buffet line was a bit messy, but so good! Thank you!
Great food, creative presentation, friendly atmosphere.
Wine menu offers good but nothing special $15 wines for $11 a glass which is more than typical markup. The food is good but quality level is mismatched for the high price. The service was friendly but ordinary. E.g. we were served salads but had no forks. No big deal but when dinner costs $150 you expect a higher bar otherwise what's the point? The atmosphere is nice but not exceptional and lacking in details you'd expect in this price range.
I normally do not leave reviews, but I felt that I needed to. We were a larger group and this place was recommended to us since we were guests of this area. The pecan encrusted grouper was suggested to us so we went to try it. Even the waitress recommended the dish saying that it was featured in a magazine as one of the top things to try in Alabama. Well do yourself a favor and do not try this dish unless you love salt. The fish was way over cooked and way too salty. This was not worth the price by no means. I will not be returning...
Wonderful food!
Great food! It is very $$$$ but probably the best food in Oxford.
Great food, friendly waiter
Always delicious. Arctic char was amazing. Have to eat here over and over. Best food in the area. As good as any big city restaurant.
Fantastic food, as usual. Great service. Fresh, farm to table deliciousness. And, that elderberry cocktail... YUM
This the best restaurant in all of Calhoun County. Garfrerick's is definitely a top ten contender for the state. You will not find food that is more fresh or delectable.
My wife and I went to celebrate her birthday on Saturday night . The food was great and the service was excellent.
The food was awesome and the staff was just as great
Yes, it's in a strip mall. Overlook that and try this farm to table delight!!!
They have delicious vegetables. Even though I'm a Southerner, I've never liked turnip greens, but I loved Garfrerick's turnip greens! I recommend the buffet when you visit. Very friendly staff too!
The food was great and our waiter was very personable.
My husband, son, and I were visiting for Thanksgiving and we wanted to try some local dining. This place is one of the best restaurants we've been! We've eaten at very formal dining in Oklahoma and Garfrerick's has surpassed most of them. From the wait staff, to table setting, to the food I felt completely catered too. They even created a dish suitable for our 5 year old son. Thank you for an absolutely wonderful experience!
One of our favorite restaurants. I have gone with my wife, friends and my daughters and always get great service and amazing food. We have never felt rushed to finish. The menu is always amazing and interesting.
This place is hidden behind red lobster. Our dining experience was wonderful. My wine was very good. My husband had a steak and he is still talking about the grilled asparagus. This is in Oxford, Al.
Great food and great people. Probably the best place to eat in calhoun county.
Enjoyed the atmosphere, food was good, only wished is was hot. The flavor was great.
Best restaurant in Oxford
Food was delicious, dessert was too good to be true, and the staff there are a delightful crew,
A little pricy, but worth it.
A totally unexpected treat in Oxford. We wandered in based on a Yelp review and we were definitely under dressed. They didn't seem to mind because the food and service was fantastic and something you typically only find in bigger cities. I'll be back.
Very fancy! Great place to take a date!
Excellent place to enjoy good food and atmosphere
Service was great and so was the food. Outstanding atmosphere.
Outstanding food! Grilled Sword Fish awesome. Center Cut Ribeye (ordered well done ) takes a while but definetly well worth the wait. Just as tender and juicy and flavorful as one could want. Very cozy warm atmosphere. Excellent service. I will be back!
The best food I'm Anniston. $$$ but worth the money
This is a quality farm to table restaurant tucked into a quiet and unsuspecting space. It quite amazing what they have done with their space. The food was very good and as fresh as home made, from scratch. Please take time to stop by this unique restaurant.
We went there for a business dinner and the experience was great.
Farm to table at it's finest!
Great food. Great service.
I cut my 5 oz Filet Mignon with a fork. It was that tender, and the service was excellent. Would highly recommend.
David personally wished us a happy anniversary, and the Sunday brunch menu is AMAZING, definitely recommend this restraunt.
Always a pleasure to eat here!
Service was perfect, food was very good, but a tad over priced....even for special occasions, in my opinion.
I absolutely love this little cafe/restaurant!! We go on Sunday for the vegetarian buffet (MY FAV
Great food.
This was a really nice place, with super-helpful staff, great food, and a great cocktail and craft beer selection. I'd definitely go back.
Freshly cooked food. Excellent taste and a healthy alternative to so many restaurants that serve unhealthy, processed food. Five stars. Stay healthy.
Had a school reunion there. Wait staff was very good and food was very good. Will go back and try the restaurant experience next time in town.
Best dining in Anniston
Well it’s not what it use to be. Cheese plate not available but they did try to make one. All Jammed together on this really small round plate. Fruit was very bland. Almost no flavor. The pairs use to be the best. Maybe that’s why they don’t have a cheese plate. Had the shrimp and grits. Grits were not quite done. Shrimp was so overpowered with the spice you hardly tasted shrimp. Service was good. But it should have been. There were only three or 4 tables being served. I use to get excited when we talked about this place and we always recommend it to people. Not any more. Sorry guys but it’s just gone down hill. #off my list.
Exellent food and service
Food is expertly prepared and on par with the prices, drinks are excellent. Easy one of the top locations in oxford.
Amazing experience! It has a casual yet upscale feel! The chef bar was a fun experience. The chef and sous chef along with the dishwasher worked so well together, they were happy to be there and appeared to be having such fun! The presentation and taste of the meal (Pecan crusted Grouper and Grits and Shrimp) far exceeded any expectation! I wish we lived closer, I would be a regular! One of my all time favorite restaurants!! Thank you for the experience!!
Lousy service, food not so hot
Best food in Calhoun county, always a treat!!
Great food service
Great restaurant! Love the Sunday buffet but also love dinner! We've never had anything bad there. Great folks, also.
Fantastic food!
A very quaint and unexpected restaurant. The menu hosted local and fresh ingredients. The serving ware was handmade by a local art class (I think). The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating to some of our older guests who chatted for a bit. We were there till after hours and got to check out the oven and kitchen area a bit. Very impressed!
First of all. No A/C or working ceiling fan. We had reservations so we were sat immediately. However, the wait time was 2+ hours. They did a terrible job and refilling waters and had to ask for lemons multiple times. I am extremely disappointed because my husband and I were looking for a nice date night restaurant but unfortunately were dissatisfied. I asked for no onions and no garlic to be put in my dish. But guess what, it had both! Aside from the unbearable room temp, the waitress "lost" our order slip. Also, the location is quite difficult to find. Therefore, we had to wait even longer!! We will never recommend this place to any of our friends nor will we return.
Very nice, good food. Our waitress, Emily, was delightful and helpful.
First time. Just not impressed. Steak was thin and tough. My wife said hers was good.
The tomato salad is amazing.
Fresh, locally grown food and pleasant atmosphere
Staff was nice and the food was great. Excellent healthy choice
Great experience. Food and drinks were incredible. Lamb was cooked absolutely perfectly. Redfish couldn't have been better. Lots of attention to detail by the chef's and wait staff.
Delicious and celiac friendly!
Food was not what I expected..Service was just ok. Will not be going back For my money the Classic would be a much better choice.
Good food
Let's be honest, there are not a lot of fine dining places in this part of the country. Garfrerick's is one of the exceptions. I had the shrimp and grits and it was wonderful. I sat at the kitchen area bar so I could watch the food being made. The kitchen was clean and well run. Having been all over the world dining I can confidently say this was as fine a dining experience as I have had anywhere else.
My last visit was disappointing at best.
The cuisine was delicious and there was no waiting. They have a very tasty Sunday Buffet with an unforgettable lasagna dish and vegetable casserole.
Excellent food and atmosphere. A cut above anything else in Calhoun County.
The food was very high price ...And not Worth the price !!! Will not be back
