This belongs to the category of Mexican restaurant.
I go to Cucos downtown.Let me tell you the people an atmosphere her are awsome! We have been coming here for about a year now.The only time service has ever been slow was when they were changing shifts.Food an conversation are both fantastic! If you liked your food when you got it then you should go try one more time!
Casual style Mexican. Chicken nachos and veggie burrito pretty good. Typically fast service.
I’ve tried and tried. Because of my limited lunch options downtown, this stays in rotation. The food is subpar. It tastes just okay, and the service leaves MUCH to be desired. I’ve had worse (food and service), but this isn’t the greatest by any stretch. **Reply to the owner: If the food was not thrown together and consistent it would be better. Also, if it was warm when I picked it up. I did not have a particular server. I picked my order up. My service on any visit has never been great.
Enchilidas were rubbery, black beans very soupy, chips seemed rancid. Not the usual Cuco's fare.
No complaints period. I love cucos
Poor service and mediocre food
The food was good and service was good also
The staff is amazing! I highly recommend the margaritas and their chicken tenders (of all things) are the best I've ever had.
Great place to eat
I luved everything Satisfied with a full tummy. Chip and salsa so fresh and delicious . Carnitas yes
Had them cater for an event. Awesome food, people were super courteous. Everyone was asking about where we got the food from afterwards. Big hit!
Great Frozen Margaritas and chips and Salsa were also awesome!
Great workers and fooo
Good Mexican food
Love this place! Staff is friendly, food is delicious, and it's right in the heart of downtown.
Loved the place, The food was delicious, had Chicken Fajita Nachos, Chicken Nachos, Paquito Chimichangas and a Border burger. Loved all of it will def make it back in. The mgr and staff were super nice.
When we went in it smelled like a nail polish parlor and the food was okay it was not the best!
Fun and great food!
Good food, fast & courteous service and great prices. The 3 musts for go-to lunch downtown.
Good food and atmosphere.
Terrific chips and cheap lunch deals
Their food is good. The servers are always attentive and I've never had a bad experience here. In addition their menu is decently cheap and on Tuesday's you can get a free kid's meal with your adult meal.
Good place to eat. Drinks are good, service is great whether in a hurry or taking your time to eat.
Good food
Great food and service.
Always a great meal!
Good food and fast service at lunch.
Nachos were poor a best. Service was average. Ordered fish tacos which were not one the menu - I've had better.
This is the best place I have eaten Mexican food. I came in town to visit family and it was awesome!!! Absolutely loved it!!!
Food was great, cheese dip was awesome.
I took my little girl here for lunch because they claim kids eat free(they charge for the drink and one cent for the food)... the tables were nasty.. the food wasn't enough for what they charged.. i thought they would have freshly made lemonade instead of that fake lemonade from machine.. but the little food that i did get was surprisingly flavorful.. not appealing in presentation, but good.. oh and the chips and salsa could use some work.. especially the salsa..
Best burritos in town
Great food wonderful service we had a wonderful evening.
A Montgomery classic. :)
I went it right before closing and the food was great but the staff in the lobby was using profanity and using the phone for personal use. I think I'll just got during the day.
The food is great service is wonderful especially the black beans. wow. Got my mom's order wrong but gave her free food.
Great food and service!
First time going to this location. Lunch was great! Service was fantastic and atmosphere was pleasant. Will be coming back for lunch again. Btw the Pork Tamale was hand crafted perfection #amazing! .
Even the simple taco salad is no longer good here. I tried the triple meat nachos and I literally had 7 chips with melted cheese with little specks of meat. Every time I go I’m mad at myself for giving them another try.
Food and service were very good. Will return again.
Food was fair not really good. Service is below fair.
The best place every
I got extremely sick from eating here, I will never eat there again
Autumn was wonderful and so were the $3 margs!
Decided to meet my husband for a late brunch I didn't have a long time to sit because I was on my lunch break but the company was good the service was excellent and the food was amazing
Good food
Quick service and amazing salsa!
Im from the TN/AL state line , and have ate at several mexican restaurants && this one is by far THE BEST!!!!!
Got to go again
Delicious food
I've had the steak fajitas twice and both times they were ok at best. My husband and I always share fajitas for one, which is plenty for us. The first time we went was for lunch. They gave us a huge amount (we actually had leftovers), but the steak wasn't seasoned at all. We went for dinner the second time and the steak was overcooked (we asked for medium) and the portion was skimpy. Next time I will order something different. The atmosphere is nice and the staff was friendly.
Good Food in a very historical and monumental area of town!
Best Mexican food in Montgomery!
Delicious Tex-Mex in a casual setting. Tons of specials and something for everyone.
Great
Not good Mexican food, price ok but long wait
Terrible service, would not reccomend. We were there for 2 hours, and our food didn't come out until 1 hour and 15 mins in. There were not enough people on shift to handle the 2 tables that were there. We had to frequently remind our waiter what we ordered, and that we hadn't gotten all of our food.
Mediocre food, but very good service!
Our favorite place in the Tri Community area
Love the food!!
I just ordered the fajita steak salad to bring back to work(5 min away)and had 2 bites and threw it away- the peppers and onion were ice cold and looked like they were made the day before- the steak (what there was of it) was bits and pieces and so over cooked it was like eating leather and the lettuce was brown. The lady who gave me my order was not happy to be there.
Great food!
My favorite mexican restaurant in the whole world.
Loved that I could eat outside on the sidewalk with my dog. Add black bean soup. It was excellent. Got avocado chips And Spanish rice to boot. The Spanish rice was excellent. Nice looking waitress too.
Great lunch menu, reasonably priced and good service. I will be back for their great salsa.
Decided to try this place last night and was surprised. Food was good, price was decent and service was not bad either. All in all a big win considering some of the other places I have eaten here in Montgomery. We visited Cucos Mexican Cafe due to location Yelp reviews.
The salsa was 5 stars-it had a nice smoky flavor too it. The chips were salty and thin which are perfect with salsa. The Wednesday enchilada special for $5 is spot on and 5 stars. I gave 4.5 stars because the ground beef in the tacos is lacking. We topped it off with some sopapillas with honey and blended strawberries! Perfect way to end the meal. Service was very friendly.
Fun and local TexMex with professional service.
Visiting for a conference and stopped in for lunch. Had the Sour Cream Enchiladas lunch special which was fantastic!
Thick dust on seat backs, 3foot dust webs hanging from ceiling. Menu items unavailable. What was available was not prepared as described. Better food @ Taco Bell!
Lunch special are reasonably priced.
They were out of ice cream and the cheese dip was watered down
Slow inexperienced staff, marginal Tex-mex with little to no heat or spices. Overpriced for what you get. There's better not far away, don't stop here.
Good food, fast service.
The chips and salsa that are given to the table didn't have a lot of flavor. The rice with my dish was bad, I've had better instant rice. The rice was clumping together so it was probably over cooked. The special sauce looks like gravy. The tea was good and the staff were friendly.
Excellent food and and outstanding staff!
Nice authentic Mexican food. I had the beef chimipoquitos and they were pretty good.
Amazing service awesome food
Great food. The staff is one of the best in any restaurant downtown. Clean and inviting atmosphere.
Great Macho nachos wonderful pina coladas very very very
I been working hear 9 in the half years the food is good
I love it but I think they need a flyer guy who can get them a lil more business but I love it the people or nice kind the manager is a good worker in the ones behind her also good team they have just need a flyer guy bring more people in but they nice love it
FANTASTIC FOOD AND FANTASTIC PRICE. HANDS DOWN, THE BEST AROUND.
Not bad overall. Ok Mexican food with fast service. Been several times as an alternative to my norm for the downtown area. Margaritas are a little weak, but may just be me.
Let's start with the food - it is amazing. Some of the best Tex - Mex you can find in Montgomery. Never had a problem with anything I've ever ordered there. Why the 1 star? Service I went in recently by myself for lunch and sat at the bar. I'll usually do that when I eat lunch by myself No need to take up room at a table if unnecessary I get that bartenders also take care of to go orders, and I have no problem with that. However when you notice that a customer has entered your restaurant sat at your bar, and has a menu in front of him, maybe acknowledge the customer's presence by actually speaking to the patron. Also, being that this restaurant is in downtown Montgomery, there are many professionals who come out for lunch and are on a tight schedule. Maybe get the order in as quickly as possible since that person is likely on an hour break and has a short amount of time to actually eat lunch. And when you notice that the customer needs a drink refill, don't just acknowledge that refill, actually refill the drink. Pretty basic stuff. And lastly, knowing that the patron is likely on a tight schedule maybe ask if so and make sure that you get the check to the patron so that person can pay for lunch and get back to the office in a timely manner. I will not return to this restaurant as I feel like I was ignored by the staff and taken for granted as a patron. ***UPDATE*** Thank you to the Cucos management for reaching out to me on 9/12/2018. I wish I could tell you the name of my server, but I was never given her name, nor the name of anyone else with whom I interacted.
Overrated. Not very authentic, kind of a hipsters Mexican restaurant.
Good food and service
My food was burnt. I ordered the Tortilla Steak Burrito. The stake strips were burnt and covered in cheese to hide it... the waitress was very friendly.
Great food and atmosphere
Excellent! I worked at Cucos Pascagoula, MS for 12 years.
Very cozy and good food.
Good margarita and Mexican
Decent enough Mexican food but to expensive for what it is.
The new location has a great atmosphere and the food quality seems even better than before. The Market District is really improving.
Friendly Staff
The food was great...and of server Autumn was outstanding at the downtown location.
I really enjoyed my meal.
I LOVE CUCOS. Manager of the downtown location is very warm and welcoming. She goes out of her way to ensure a quality experience every time. Food is always great. I love the place!
Thursday is half priced margaritas.
Great food and service. Quick lunch experience
Excellent, Fast Service, Great Food!
(Translated by Google) Excellent place good service (Original) Excelente lugar bueno atención
Something exciting to do downtown Montgomery.
Service was beyond horrible!!!! The waitress couldn't handle the few tables she had and was clearly overwhelmed.....the hostess just stood there doing absolutely nothing but having a horrible attitude(she wasn't seating guests because we sat ourselves) the food was cool had too much salt on the chicken....the drinks were subpar I think the needed to let the margarita mix freeze longer because it was melted.....just needs better communication and management on the floor to make sure the guest have a good experience
Slop on the bottom of the nine layer dip. Poor service. Waitress was having her lunch as well in between taking our order and serving our food.
For starters the waitress was eating while taking my order. Maybe I we came at a bad time but the food wasn't good at all. My son ordered nachos, the brought out 12 chicks with burnt on cheese, I had the 9 layer dip and it came in a soup dish of some sorts covered in cheese which again was just burned on top. Won't stop here to eat again.
Just an okay place. Nothing Fancy. Not big servings.
The food was fantastic! This may be the best Mexican food we've ever eaten...and we eat a lot!
THE ABSOLUTELY BEST MEXICAN RESTAURANT IN THE SOUTHEAST!!!
Good food and great historic location. The service was fairly slow, even on a slow afternoon.
The server was fantastic & we love their food
Half off margaritas on Thursday
Huge fan of good Salsa and their's was perfect. I also tried the Fajitas and they were a 10!
Save yourself headache, time, and money. Went in tonight and it was bad from jump. Service was poor. Ordered queso for appetizer and beef fajitas for entree. Long/short-queso was luke warm. Rice, beans and fajita toppings came out about 5 minutes before fajitas. The outside of the tortilla lid was soaking wet. I brought it to the manager’s attention. She was nice, apologized, and said, they probably got lazy in the kitchen and didn’t dry it. They got me new tortillas. Then, fajita plate came out soaking wet. Not only didn’t they not correct the mistake I’d just brought to their attention, what it said to me was someone in the kitchen is washing dishes as they go. No way dishes can be sterilized and dried in machine and they are this wet. It wasn’t damp, it was as though someone lifted it from a sink of water, rinsed it, and plated. Very wet! And it was nearly two hours before closing. I again brought it to the lady’s attention and after spending 5 minutes trying to convince me to come to the kitchen to see their process for myself, she said, “I’m not sure why the wood was wet (the plating dish for the fajitas) because we don’t even wash those. Maybe it had some food on it that they had to get off.” I laughed and left. To add insult to injury, she didn’t comp my meal. I paid $20+ and didn’t eat a thing! Never going back.
A perfect 3. Not bad, not particularly good.
Great service, grande burrito under $10 is fantastic. Very friendly shop
It was okay. I wish the service was a little better.
Margarita frozen is the best
The worst service I've ever experienced. At prime dinner time they had two employees to run the bar, kitchen, serve, and answer the phone. Additionally they were out of food items so we couldn't order what we wanted. What should have been a 45 minute stop for dinner turned into a 2+ hour ordeal where my water wasn't refilled once. I don't know how this place is still in business.
Best chips! (white corn) Great specials and a slightly different spin on most mexican places around here.
Never a wait at dinner time
Love their choriqueso, and black beans. Great downtown stop for lunch or dinner. Usually great service.
Excellent service friendly and great food close to heart of downtiwn.
Can't remember going there
Great restaurant
Comfy setting. Good service and reasonable prices.
