We had a fine experience. The food was acceptable for the price. The wait staff was unnecessarily slow. It was between meal hours and few in the restaurant but still took quite a while to do everything. The crab cakes wasn't as advertised - all lump crab inside covered with light breading. The breading was inside and was not lump crab.

My boyfriend and I went to Bottega for my birthday expecting a great meal and service based upon the reviews. When we arrived no hostess greeted us. We waited at the front for about 5 minutes just for a hostess to tell us to go to other side of the restaurant. We then waited another 5 minutes at the front before the hostess sat us at our reserved table. The drink I had (the Hemingway) was the best thing I had all night. The appetizer we got was peaches and prosciutto. While the flavor of the appetizer was perfect, there was not enough prosciutto on the plate. The entrees are where things really went downhill. I order chicken saltimbocca, which had prosciutto, mozzarella, sage, and potatoes. The dish was very underwhelming. The main flavor of the dish was salt. I couldn’t taste any sage. It was extremely disappointing. My boyfriend order veal scaloppine with asparagus, fontina, polenta and fried onions. His dish was even worse than mine. There was absolutely no flavor on plate other than salt. The asparagus had no seasoning on them whatsoever. I am really baffled as to how this place has such great reviews. I am only giving this place 2 stars because of my drink and the appetizer. I can’t believe this is a top rated restaurant in this city.

Love this place for special occasions! Great food! The crab cake is the best I have ever eaten. The salmon was cooked and flavored to perfection. And, the baked feta was delicious. Their drinks really did have 1 1/2 ounces of alcohol in them! Highly recommend you not be in a hurry at lunch and you make reservations for dinner. The food is worth the extra wait time, though! I hope to eat there again, one day. It takes this Georgia girl 2 hours to get there, though!

Terrible experience! Been wanting to try this out restaurant out for a long time! They told us since they promised us a table and they lost it, our name would be moved to the top of the list. It looked like a 35 minute wait. After 50 minutes we asked how much longer, they told us if we had a problem to talk with the manager. We politely asked to speak with him. He came out and was already rude. The manager said "I can't just create tables out of thin air, you don't want to sit in each other's lap and you complaining to me about this is not helping. It's not my fault you have 7 people and your party". After the manager was so rude we left. And the party that was behind us said they were told the same thing from the manager. We will NEVER go back!!! Never been treated so badly!

This little cafe is awesome. Customers do not want for anything, and you can tell they pride themselves on it. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is great, the prices are more than reasonable- just an all around phenomenal establishment. Even the valet is impressive- had the car ready to go before we even made it out to the curb. If you haven't made it out here yet, you should. You won't be disappointed.

The coffee was good. The cookie was OK, not bad, not the best ever. The atmosphere is cute and artsy, with paintings on the wall. The tables are a mix of what I remember as being 50's-60's style diner tables. It's a good place to go to relax a bit and people-watch.

Frank Stitt’s Botegga Cafe continues to please. We’ve been coming here for years and find they are consistently good in all categories. We were in for a Friday lunch and had a salad and grilled amberjack sandwich. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive without being overbearing. The food was delicious with quick and friendly service. The cocktail and cuisine menus are not very extensive, but even with such a small selection, every thing tastes amazing. As expected, this restaurant is pricey (~$150 for two people after tip); however that was to be expected. This is not a place for the average consumer to visit on a regular basis, but it is terrific for those special occasions.

I loved my food, but our primary waitperson was missing in action most of the night. The waiter from the other area served us more than he did. He never came to check on our drinks or refresh them. Everyone else look to have great service but I found ours lacking. Personally, If I could have I would have left the tip for the one who actually worked our area I really admired his work ethic. I gave it a 4 for the food and the fact that there were actually people who picked up the slack for our MIA waiter.

This place is elegant, good food, and the waiter we had was wonderful. The only problem I do have that the host seated us all the way in the corner where the kitchen was. We were the first person at the restaurant and they should pay more attention why we reserve a table to eat there. I did mentioned when I reserved that it was my birthday. Also, the deserts were to sweet, to be an Italian restaurant, I think sweets in Italy are not like sweets like America. I do like the appetizer I have eaten, and the main menu I had was alright. Would recommend this restaurant for others to try, but I would not want to eat there again.

Bottega is an outstanding cafe for Lunch or Dinner for full meal. My Smoked Salmon pizza was a light cooked crust then topped with just the right combination of thin red onions in a light marscapone then topped with salmon topped with quality capers. This unique recipe allows the diner to bite through the salmon and marscapone with red onions and gain this delicious meal. Will definitely order this again (after going through the Menu. My only disappointment was that their world famous Beef Carpaccio is no longer available on the Lunch Menu.

The drinks at Bottega are delicious. Every time I have gone the food was only ever okay. Went for New Years and my steak was over cooked. A different time I went and they had a tart on the menu and I found a curdled piece of egg in the tart filling. At Bottega prices you think the pastry chef could manage to due something as simple are pass a tempered egg mixture through a sieve.

We have been here twice now for our anniversary and have not been disappointed. The menu is full of fresh items to select from and they have each been flavorful and beautifully prepared. The bread delivered to the table is so hard to not fill up on because it is so delicious! We ate there for our last anniversary and it was a special treat. Extremely unique and delightfully tasty dishes that exceed expectations. We don't eat at high end restaurants too often, so we were very happy that it was a very good experience. The menu changes constantly, but I don't believe anything on there looked like something that we thought, "Oh, we could just make that at home." And nothing tasted like something that I could reproduce either, as much as I would love to! The service was wonderful. You have to make a reservation, and this is well worth it because you will be seated and waited on as soon as you walk in the door. We noticed lots of little details that made the experience exceptional.

Definitely a recommended place. Bottega is one of the 4 restaurants operated by executive chef Frank Stitt in the Birmingham area. My husband and I ate there for our anniversary, and enjoyed it immensely. Prices are --not-- for the faint of heart, but no worse than you would find at, say, The Melting Pot, and with more original dishes. Well worth the experience.

I went here for lunch on a Tuesday and struggled to find street parking. Valet was professional and courteous. My party was seated right away with a good view of three kitchen and bar. We ordered with no difficulty and our appetizer arrived swiftly. However, we did have to request bread from our server. My white pie (fennel sausage and cheese pizza) was delicious with a slightly blackened crust (not a problem for me, but to some, perhaps). No other issues with service and all other needs/requests were met. Unfortunately, we did not have time for dessert, so I will be making a return visit some time to sample their sweets.

If I could give 4.5 stars I would....I dined in the restaurant, not the cafe. The service was great and the food was very good. I ordered a sausage and pasta dish, but felt it was way to salty. I would've liked to have tasted other flavors. While my dish wasn't the best, I tried 2 other dishes that were amazing. And, the individuals I dined with favored mine. Overall, I had a good experience and service. I would go again. Michael, our waiter, I believe was his name was very pleasant and helpful.

Decent food, but the atmosphere blows. We were told we wouldn't receive service outside, and they proceeded to wait on another outside table. Will not be returning to this yuppie establishment.
