This was my 1st time eating here. The service (Cortney) was great. The portion sizes were more than enough and the food was delicious. My omelet was cooked just right as if the chef knew how to prepare it just for me but my favorite was the Cheesy Browns - I loved those. I will be back again soon.

I'm shocked I have never reviewed Blue Plate. I have been going here for 12 years and I have never been disappointed. Service is always fast and friendly, and their food is amazing. I recommend their meatloaf or chicken and dressing. We have been several times for breakfast as well- give their chocolate gravy a try! If you're going for lunch, try to get there early (11:00-11:30) to get seated quickly.

The food was wonderful, the service was great and the restaurant was very clean. I had a bowl of chicken vegetable soup and a fruit plate that I shared with my daughter. She had a BLT with Steak Fries and we both had sweet tea. I took a picture of our food since we didn't have the regular meat and vegetables that most people get. If you are ever at Blue Plate and at check out they have blueberry muffins for sale, I highly recommend them! They are baked fresh daily!

We were just slightly too late for breakfast when we came here, which I suppose was a mixed blessing. In the past I'd always simply come here for breakfast. Their lunch was quite delicious though, with a wide array of choices. Their bread pudding, in particular, was especially delicious. It can get pretty crowded in there, which is the only real downside I can think of, but what do you expect with delicious food and generous portions. Don't worry though, even if you have to wait a little to be seated, it'll be well worth the wait.

Food is good, a little pricey but good. To be honest I think I say that about a lot of the restaurants. But I'm not wrong they are definitely proud of their food. It has a cozy environment with a polite wait staff. I gave it 3 stars for two reasons: 1) the high prices 2) the service Grant it,it's nothing major but significant enough to mention. I went to the back of the diner to place an order to go. The waitress didn't write anything I was ordering down but I thought ok she's probably been here a while and knows the menu cool. Well, because of her relying on her memory she called back to the cooks for fries...I ordered mash potatoes.... but got that fixed easy enough. I also asked for a side of Bacon while she was at the register putting my order in so I was charged but the cook(s) failed to give me any and the waitress failed to check the order as she was bagging it all up so I got back to my place and realised the bacon travesty. I might add I don't have a car so I have to walk,so it was going to be a major inconvenience for me as a customer to have to walk back up there and have to convince the manager owner that i did not receive part of my order but was charged after I already left made it home and had to walk back so instead of putting myself through that at 7:30/8:00 in the morning I just took the lose which is obviously an inconvenience as well. I guess I should have checked the order myself before I left the diner but if I'm paying high prices and tipping I don't really feel that I should have to make sure that they are doing their job and shell out cash. I might as well just go prepare the order myself if that's the case. At least then I know what I'm walking home with....ok..no that's not completely true...I would have probably forgotten something as well but not the bacon!! No sir!! A person does not just forget the bacon ..... but I would have forgotten something. Lol!! Just check your order before you leave and you should have a pleasant experience.. other than the menu prices but the food is delicious and they have daily specials. oh, and save room for a slice of one of their pies.

If you are looking for a local establishment when visiting, you'll find it at Blue Plate. Friendly service, decent food and a comfortable environment. You're going to wait to be seated at breakfast but its worth the wait. One of our favorites on a Saturday morning.

This is the must visit diner for breakfast in Huntsville. It is rare that I come across such amazing food service and ambiance. When I think and picture diner this is now what will come to mind. Stopped for pie and coffee. Ordered the coconut..it was AWFUL..I sent it back and ordered the chocolate, awful too. I didn't finish that one either They both looked and tasted old. The waitress was very nice and accommodating. Will not be going there again.

Good filling food. They have a variety of combinations you can choose from to get the perfect plate for you or you can go simple and just order a burger and some fries. Their chicken tender sandwich was amazing and their chicken salad sandwich was overflowing. Both were really good. Strawberry short cake was amazing as well.

Lot's of locals love it but I've never had anything that I like. To me the vegetables taste like something from a can that's just warmed and served. The chicken salad sandwich is just ok at best. When I'm in that area at meal time I usually go somewhere else to eat.

Ate lunch there on a Wednesday. I chose chicken fried steak, corn, green beans, and hash brown casserole, with a roll. All was excellent. Son had the double grill cheese with bacon and comes with fries. Got there at 1:00. Was seated immediately. I had expected a wait, really surprised, but happy. Wheelchair up ramp always works out okay. Was seated 1/2 way in near front, I feel like I am not blocking a major route of travel. Service always is excellent. Did not have to ask for cola refills. My family will be back. I really need to get there for breakfast ! ! !

Food was good today (Tuesday), food choices better than most days as they offer particular choices depending on the day. Staff friendly and we were served very quickly. Time from ordering, to getting the food, to completely finishing and getting the bill took 30 minutes.Limited parking was was the biggest problem.

We stopped for a bite to eat while trying new places on our travels. We both had the southern fried chicken tenders one of the Blue Plate Specials. With mine was the corn, Coleslaw, hash browns, corn bread with pink lemonade to drink. Ray was our server, he was very attentive, kind and thoughtful. The food was very good and filling. There was just the right amount. I would definitely be back when in the area.

Food and service was good. I had the chicken and dressing with broccoli casserole and the dessert of the day which was apple cinnamon cobbler. The chicken and dressing was good and I would recommend but was not crazy about broccoli casserole as the broccoli was not cut up and was pretty big. Wife got the pot roast and mashed potatoes with gravy which she enjoyed both. I tried the mashed potatoes and agreed that they were good. Overall I would give it a thumbs up.

Blue Plate is a great place to go for meat and three vegetables. Locally owned and operated Blue Plate is a great place for any meal of the day. Breakfast is the best in my opinion. There are daily specials, really good desserts, and the coffee is top notch. Service is fast and friendly. Go with a friend or eat alone. You will find local business people, elected officials, and workers/contractors. Everyone is welcome.

The waitress was nice but forgot to give us our check so we had to wait and actually go find her for it. Won't be back. Not impressed at all.

Blue Plate Cafe is the best! I stopped by here with my family to get some breakfast. We were greated and sat right away. The staff was very friendly and helpful with the menu. The owner should be so proud he has such a great staff. I ordered coffee and OJ, both delicious. Then for breakfast, eggs, country fried steak, biscuits and gravy, with cheesy Browns. It was delicious! The rest of my family enjoyed their meals as well. We all agreed that we would come back again next week.

My rating is for the breakfast, never had dinner or lunch here. Breakfast time this place is packed and there is a reason, it’s so good! I love the very berry pancakes with the whip topping. It’s not the healthiest I’m sure but it’s so yummy. Also on Saturdays they have chocolate gravy and biscuits which is not something you can find often!

Nice diner- like atmosphere; excellent, attentive wait staff even with the place being packed. With it being packed (for Lunch) we were expecting awesome food, but the Food (on a Wednesday at least) was mediocre at best. Didn't have anything on my grandmother's home cooking...my wife's either for that matter! Neither she, nor I or my 5 kids were impressed with the food. I had the catfish plate, but sampled vegetables from the blue plates others in my party had. Felt like a 7 dollar meal for 10 dollars. Vegetables did not have a savory southern flavor as we expected, but rather a sweet overtone to everything. Exception: slaw was excellent. Hush puppies were great (standard was only 2 of them (we are talking not much more than Washington-quarter size) with the meal, though...I couldn't believe it.) Heck, even Captain D's will give you 3 or 4 hushpuppies, an they are just as good.

We were in the hospital district at lunch time and this café was recommended. It was on our way on Governors Dr, so we stopped. Obviously, it was good as people were waiting for a table. Our wait was about five minutes. We had the Tuesday Special of Chicken and Dressing plus three. It was certainly a generous helping and had cranberry sauce to go with it. Mashed potatoes..excellent, cucumber/tomato salad...very good and the peach cobbler...one of the best. $10+ for lunch, but portions very big and delicious. A fair price for what you get.
