Ordered lunch from their food truck today and had their griddle burger and sweet potato fries. Waited twenty minutes for an overcooked, oversalted, burnt burger with limp, cold sweet potato chips. Very disappointed.

Went during brunch. Food was mediocre. Dip was obviously old, hardened and the ingredients dumped from a can; very stale tortilla chips. Waitress was aloof and didn't seem at all interested in us. Burger came out, the entire bottom bun was saturated with grease (like it'd been sitting for a long time before coming out), making it completely soggy and almost liquid. Salad was good though. I wanted to complain about the burger but just decided I'd eat it without the bottom and leave as soon as I finished it. To have such high reviews here online, I was really surprised and disappointed. Also, there were only two other small families in the restaurant, so it wasn't like they were swamped.

Took my girlfriend and her two younger sisters here Sunday and everything seemed good except after a few hours we were all throwing up and having diarrhea. Went to the hospital and it was food poisoning. Sorry to say we are never going here again. Worst $72 I’ve ever wasted. Don’t eat here ever.

Let me start off by saying I have been a loyal Amsterdam customer since my college days at Auburn and sadly it seems management has taken an unfortunate turn . I went in to place a to-go order for lunch( I pickup Turkey Wraps weekly) while standing at the bar I observe an employee preparing my order and in his rush he accidentally hit the box and knocked out a good portion of the sweet potato chips, sure accidents happen. I then observe the employee scooping up the chips off the counter and placing them in my box..gross!! He brings out the same box to me and when I inquire about the ‘incident’ he says ,”sir it was only one or two chips”. I stated I had seen him pickup an entire pile and put it in my box, knowing he had been ‘busted’ he offered another one. When another female employee brought out the new order out I asked to speak with the manager regarding this incident. The individual who ‘prepared’ my order WAS THE MANAGER! His name is Nick and I am extremely disappointed to see someone of this ‘caliber’ in a leadership role.

The crab cake and avocado sandwich is amazing, especialty with the sweet potato chips. I've never had anything to eat here that wasn't perfect. The service is always great here as well, lunch or dinner. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 are the drink prices. They use top shelf brands unless you specifically ask for something different. That means at lunch, a margarita is the same price as a crab cake and avocado sandwich entree. The unexpected $30 each for the 4 of us at lunch last week was a bit of a surprise.

Terrible experience!! I've always enjoyed visiting this restaurant but I will NOT be returning again. We made a reservation for lunch and took my 89 year old grandmother who was looking forward to the food/experience. They booked a high top for us which would not work for my grandmother. When we asked if we could sit in a booth (or anywhere besides a high top), they informed us they had no spots available. During our conversation I pointed out a booth that was empty, but they told us it was booked for a reservation an HOUR AWAY from when this conversation was taking place. Nobody seemed to understand how bad that sounds to a customer, and they didn't seem to care if we walked out the door or not! I understand scheduling reservations at a busy restaurant is tough, but the only option we were given by staff was "sorry, we cannot accommodate you". The manager/supervisor was not helpful at all and even made a smart comment to me as we were walking out the door insinuating the whole issue was our fault. Yes, we could have requested a booth when we made a reservation, but resolving the issue in a professional manner to accommodate the customer was not happening. No other options were given except to leave. Apparently they do not put their customers first! I am so disappointed Amsterdam!!

Great southern food and great drinks. The atmosphere is also great with the Van Gogh artwork in it. The strawberry blonde was the perfect mix of sweet and strong and one was more than enough even with dinner. The white whiskey margarita is also another delicious and dangerous drink. The spinach and artichoke dip is a top contender against mom's, which is really saying something! The shrimp and grits was amazing as well and the Mac N cheese was also a home run. Looking forward to the leftovers. Cameron waited on us and was great to our group which made the experience more enjoyable. Thanks again!

Very interesting little stop on a restaurant crawl my wife and I did in Auburn. This was a good stop. My wife and I ordered lamb and salmon. Both were very good. I was able to order a good Russian River pino by the glass. The feature cocktail put together by the bar program was on point. They have a good wine list. Good service. All in all this was a very good stop. Would do this again.

FOOD POISONING!! I went there Sunday 3/17/19 with my 2 younger sisters and a good friend of ours, we ate and everything seemed fine but when we left hours later we were all throwing up for hours and even all night each maybe a good 20 times each and we all also had watery diarrhea, so to say this place gave us all really bad food poisoning! We all had to go to the hospital and are still feeling sick, so we are never going back !

Went here for brunch and was super impressed with the pancakes! The bacon was also cooked to perfection! Mimosas were good priced for the whole bottle. It was cheap champagne but hey it was yummy. It was a little crowded when I went but the staff was still attentive which I appreciated. Not the most kid friendly place but everything else was pretty nice. Definitely would like to go back for more of their delicious food. Oh also tried a bite of my sister breakfast burrito and omg it was the best one I’ve ever tried.

Amsterdam Cafe is a staple of the Auburn experience. They offer upscale American food with a good wine list and a couple of beers on tap. Their patio is a nice place to eat lunch on a warm afternoon - it's well shaded. They also have a nice back room for events but charge a premium for its use. If you go, you must try the lobster egg rolls. And make sure to use the included sauce. The turkey wrap is worth the trip alone. The rum salmon salad is also a favorite. Amsterdam has served us as a quick lunch as well as fine dinner location. You won't be disappointed.

Everything I tasted was amazing; Spinach dip, lobster rolls, salad with homemade salad dressing, and super flavorful garlic pepper ribeye. My wife had dietary restrictions as she had her gallbladder taken out recently and ate grilled fish and loved it. The top shelf margarita was on point, and I slept like a baby. Of all the amazing upscale restaurants in Auburn(8?),I think this has moved to #1 in my book.

Ah, good ol' Amsterdam Cafe. It's a great brunch spot on Sundays. The food is really good, from the Lobster Eggrolls to the Steak and Eggs with herb crusted French Fries and a Basil aioli. The food tastes like it comes from a kitchen where quality is king, and pride is taken with every plate that leaves. The biggest downside this place has going for it is the parking. There are 3 spots that I have found: in front of the store front, designated spots in the neighboring church parking lot, or in the lot between the filling station. I have had 2 experiences where I didn't find a spot immediately, out of 6 attempts.

I have been here several times over the last few years and I would rate it a 4 to a 5, I've never had a bad meal here. I recently got the steak wrap with sweet potatoes chips. Instead of the horseradish sauce I got the red pepper suave. It was delicious. I also enjoyed the fact that the wrap was grilled.

We went on a Thursday evening and will not be back for a long time. If you do go...the safe bet are the sandwiches...don’t even bother with the more expensive dishes. We had the heirloom tomato salad...no heirloom tomatoes ~ regular ole salad tomatoes with raw uncooked corn dribbled on the plate (supposed to be silver queen corn with champagne vinegar and olive oil). Not a drop of any kind of dressing. Main dish: supposed to be pan seared snapper with Yukon golden potatoes and some type of strawberry topping (the menu made it sound exquisite). Basically I was served a bronzed colored fish filet with about 6 plain strawberry quarters and square hash brown potatoes. This was a $25.00 ish meal. What is going on in the kitchen??? Poor quality food from an established restaurant in Auburn.

This is a cozy little restaurant off the beaten path in Auburn. We dined there for the first time at lunch. The word is they have the best french fries, so we ordered the cheese fries appetizers. Fries is not accurate, potato straws would be more like what we got, very finely shredded fried potatoes with cheese sauce and scallions. The queso was spicy. The fries were tasty, but not so good we finished them. We were served a perfectly cooked burger with chips and a gyro. The service was fast and very friendly, and the atmosphere was lovely. My reason for the 4-star rather than 5-star rating comes down to prices. The burger and chips was $14, the gyro and chips $13. While the food was very good, the portion sizes do not justify these prices. Two small lunches and cheese fries came to $40 with sweet tea for lunch. I rarely complain about prices at restaurants, because usually you get what you pay for. This did not hold true for Amsterdam. I realize being a stone's throw from Auburn University's campus makes restaurants think they can charge Auburn University's prices, but they can't. Lunch shouldn't be closing in on $50 with tip, no matter how nice the restaurant is.

Went here with two groups of six for graduation ceremony. Given how busy they were service was good. Bloody Mary and Craft beer was excellent. Craft beer selection was good. Hamburgers were excellent and cooked exactly how ordered. Fingerling potatoes not so good; should have ordered the fries. Salmon wasn't cooked rare as requested and the crab topping was way too salty, making it so the dish wasn't enjoyable. I would return but would just order hamburgers with fries.

I always forget about Amsterdam Cafe and then when I go I can't believe it's taken me so long to come back! It's delicious for lunch and dinner. Went the other night and had their porkchop and gouda mash and it was all to die for. Dessert and the service was excellent as well. Plan to make the trip more often now I've been reminded of this fantastic gem a little "off the beaten path" in Auburn. Highly recommend!

I visited Amsterdam, dining alone without a reservation on a Friday evening early. I requested a booth and was told by the young maitre'dess that all of them were reserved (about 6 were vacant). I accepted the table I was offered. My server came immediately and took my craft beer order. I went to order an appetizer but was told ALL the appetizers were for "sharing" (for 2) and she couldn't serve me a smaller portion. Almost all were priced in the upper teens. Skipped the app. I ordered my entrée after my beer, a crusted grouper topped with a dollop of crabmeat all served over a very tasty white rice on a bed of greens. The grouper entrée was outstanding; a little surprising for the rather mundane environment of the restaurant. The rice was perfectly prepared and the crab was very tasty. I have dined at Amsterdam twice before when in Auburn but this was by far the best meal I've enjoyed yet. I rate my dining experience 4 stars but would have rated it 5 stars if the young lady who seated me hadn't had a bit of an atitude and that the appetizers were not available in single portions. Two of the 6 "reserved" booths were never occupied during my meal.

Service wasn't too bad. I asked if I could substitute something different that was on the special. I was told no because they have a set amount for each special order. I ordered the Alabama shrimp, well it was the whole shrimp: head, veins, and tail. Some may like their shrimp this way, I however do not. The server didn't tell me that is how they come. He said it is fine dining when you order seafood. The salad and Mac n cheese was good but the rest of the food was as bland as bland could get. We will not go back.

Not bad, not great. While their Lobster Eggrolls are probably one of the best appetizers I've ever had in my life, the rest of the food was sub-par. Easily the worst steak I've had in my life, the drinks were really watered down, and nothing else was worth mentioning. Plus the draft from the outside when it was 30 degrees out was annoying, but that may be a bit nit-picky. I would recommend this place solely for the appetizer mentioned and it's what's keeping this place from getting less stars. Truly an amazing dish. The others, not so much. If I ever went back, I wouldn't be doing it for their main dishes or drinks.

The food was amazing. Chef Fabian really outdid himself. My husband loved his fried chicken, collards, and mac & cheese. I had the catfish special. It was so much food that we took half home.

Great atmosphere. Great food! Van Gogh paintings on the wall. We ordered black eyed pea hummus, and salad. The hummus was awesome! The salad was pretty good too. Service was good. Limited vegan options.

A must visit when you are in Auburn! The food and service are always phenomenal - I highly recommend the Crab Cake and Avocado Sandwich (which is on the 100 Best Things to Eat in Alabama list) + the Baja Chicken Enchilada Soup. They also have a nice wine list and a full bar. Some evenings they even have live acoustic music on the patio!

Tonight we had the blackened mahi alfredo and the mahi with gouda mashed potatoes. The blackened Mahi alfredo was far too seasoned, had a poor balance of flavors. In my case it was too salty and too tangy. Our other dish, The grilled Mahi, was under cooked and came to the table cold. The gouda mashed potatoes were also cold. Our salads were brought out after our entrees and were poorly prepared. We have been very disappointed over the last 3 visits.

Last time I went, which was a couple days ago, my CHICKEN sandwich came out RAW. Like completely pink when I took a bite! They immeadietly told me they would replace it but I was left sitting there starving while I had to watch my boyfriend eat his food. They didn't even think to bring me some fries or a salad while I wait. What's worse is that at the end of the meal we didn't even get a discount for their mistake and for having to sit and wait for another sandwich to be made or even that I could have gotten very sick from a UNCOOKED CHICKEN sandwich!!!

Asked for a fried chicken sandwich. Not only was it way too spicy, but the chicken was undercooked on the inside! I mean it was completely pink. To be fair, they did let me trade it with another sandwich and they did offer my family a free desert, but I'm lucky I don't have food poisoning. Fries were great.

This was our first visit to the Amsterdam Cafe and it was okay. We ordered the Concueh sausage fritters and they were okay. We would have thought they would have a good flavor because of the sausage but that wasn't the case. I wasn't very hungry so I just ordered an appetizer. I ordered the pimento cheese board and it was good. My wife ordered the mac and cheese but it was good when she got it. We will probably go back and try something different. The menu is simple and the service was excellent.

Previously I've had great experiences dining at Amsterdam Cafe. I've been eating there since I was in school at Auburn (over 20 years). However, today I was extremely disappointed. My husband, 5yo and I walked in to see many open tables. We were told the wait would be over an hour. The man behind me walked in and he asked if his party would have to wait that long. The hostess said "No, it's because they have a kid". The hostess just stared at me and we left. I'm glad Auburn has great restaurants to choose from as I will not be going back to Amsterdam Cafe.

Amsterdam is one of the best restaurants in Auburn, with exceptional food and an exquisite drink menu. You can't go wrong with anything, but you've GOTTA try the Crab Cake & Avocado sandwich!

First rate restaurant. Classy and a great place to take clients...ask for the back room. Menu is creative and quality is way above Auburns standards.....Price is competitive for what you get....Service is consistently good not great!
