The folks at the Staples Mill Puritan location responded almost immediately, saying "If we can work magic, we will!" And work magic they did. My four pairs of pants ready before 4 PM. Quality work at a reasonable price at incredible speed. The tailor on-site and rest of the staff was super-friendly and helpful, making a stressful situation no big deal. I'm not sure if my experience is unique to this specific location, but this was my first time using Puritan cleaners. I dropped off a dress shirt, suit pants and matching blazer for basic dry cleaning. While the pants and shirt were cleaned and pressed perfectly, the blazer was not. The lapel roll was so unevenly pressed down one side of the blazer, that I had to re-iron and press it myself when I got home. Not to mention, the posterior part of one of the sleeves was still noticeably wrinkled. While the price I paid overall was fair ($30) I'm disappointed that I still had to fix something as simple as a blazer when I got home.

Their one major downfall, however, is that they do not advertise their prices asking the customer instead to judge their service by their friendly accommodation, excellence in cleaning and customer-friendly home delivery and free flag-cleaning. They do all of this without feeling the need to tell the customer the cost of their service so that the customer could be better guided in their purchase. Doctors and lawyers do the same feeling they should not have to compete by disclosing their fees. There is a certain part of Richmond's population that never check costs when they purchase goods and services. Unfortunately, I am not among that distinctive population. I will not use Puritan's fine, and over-priced services even if they will remember my birthday or promise senior discounts.

This cleaners is great. Ever loose a button from a shirt? They’ll replace it while you wait and give it back with a smile (and no charge). Got a beef about any cleaning you’ve gotten back. This company will make it right. They’ll tell you when they can do something or when they can’t before they spend any more of your time. Their work is superb. I would be here all day if I wrote all the superlatives I’m thinking right now. Trust and believe they are the best in this area.

A negative service by another dry cleaning (5th Ave Cleaners or 2.49 cleaners) took me to Puritan Cleaners and what a difference. I dropped my wife dress for alteration before a wedding, they told me that it was going to be ready by Monday, the wedding was on Friday, I told them that I was to pick it up later in the week because we were heading to Spain for a week, got there Wednesday and a lady told me that the dress was not ready and the only thing that she could do was to give me the dress and the money back, this is just the day before our flight to NY for the wedding, I didn’t know what to do and then I saw Puritan. I spoke to Delle and it only took me seconds to realize that this place is night and day in comparison to 5th ave. Delle and the other lady in alterations was so friendly and understood my problem and the dress was ready next day. Sometimes businesses forget that customers are and should be the number priority, Puritan’s employees knows that very well and they show it as soon as you walked to the door. Thank you Delle, You’re truly an example of excellence in customer service.

I'm ONLY giving 3 stars instead of two because Harrison the assistant manager took the steps to make it right. They will be replacing my top which they rightfully should do. I dropped off my favorite cream, dry clean only top to be cleaned last Saturday with a minor whitish stain on the front that needed attention. I returned yesterday to find ORANGE stains in several places on my top. They took it back for a re-do. I went by to pick up my top today and found that the orange stains from yesterday were gone but that new ones had mysteriously appeared. I was very displeased since I had been incredibly inconvenienced again. The front desk guy took it back to the production manager for further investigation. The production manager said the spots were discoloration from them trying to get out the precious stains...discolorations??! My top is CREAM colored....how do you get orange from cream?? I recommend Puritan Cleaners to have a nice, long chat with the production manager. It looks like he doesn't take his job seriously from the ridiculous, uninformed answer he gave the front desk guy.

Be careful if you need your items on a specific day for a special event....or better yet go somewhere else before you get burned too.

Puritan did a terrific job on a stain on a new, very nice (i.e., expensive) shirt that I unwittingly made worse trying to clean it myself. It didn't get it out on its first try but gladly tried again where it was successful -- and there was no charge for the extra try, and the first try didn't cost much anyway. It seems to have the best methods/techniques to clean even the worst disfigurements caused by the most harmful elements. Puritan' staff is very professional and personable, and always is happy to go the extra mile. It also offers great specials.

I’ve been coming for years and this time they saved my ass. I dropped off a suit for dry cleaning late Saturday but forgot I needed that specific suit for a work event Monday. After a few calls, each time getting a person, not a recording, they were able to catch my order and get it done Monday morning in time for my flight and work event. I took my favorite blanket to Puritan because they appeared to be the highest rated and most trusted cleaner in the area. They were very friendly and the customer service was nice and all but my blanket came back completely f****d up. What was once a couple loose stitches and a small tear in one spot has become a totally ruined and unusable comforter with the inside fluff flooding out. They were kind enough to label my comforter as damaged before cleaning though :)))) I’ll never be going back.

What good thing can I say about the Staples Mill location, none really, they’re customer service skills on a scale of 1-10 they get a 1, they must realize that when you leave off a item the customer has to come all the way back from where they live to pick it up, everyone doesn’t live right around the corner, then when u get there you get this nonchalant, half sleep person at the front register, this location needs to get with the program and DO BETTER!!!!!!

I began utilizing Puritan Cleaners about six months ago. Prior to that, I had been searching for a new company to do my dry cleaning. They had received great reviews, so I decided to give them a try. I have been very pleased and impressed with the services provided to me by the Staples Mill Road location. This is their ‘home’ location, and they offer 7-days/week business hours. All locations offer alterations services; however, the Staples Mill Road location has a private fitting area, which allows the tailor to measure garments accurately and discretely. (One small word of caution about the fitting room: it is literally a raised area, which may prove a bit challenging, if one has mobility or disability issues. However, no worries; they have an adjacent restroom, which I’m sure, could double as a fitting room, if needed.) The prices for alterations are reasonable, as are the prices for cleaning. All services are rendered in a timely manner, and Customer Service for both areas is phenomenal. In addition to the other amenities, Puritan Cleaners offers home pick-up and delivery, although I have not utilized this service. In my opinion, Puritan Cleaners Staples Mill location is quite simply, “the best”.

I just found the address to do a review! On Monday of this week, the cleaners was very busy! Its usually busy but this day they were overwhelmed. Looked like only two young ladies were there at the fron desk. I had a few people in front of me and they seemed to have a few issues about their cleaning not being done on time, and gave her a hard time. When it was my turn, a young blonde lady called Paige waited on me. She greeted me with a huge smile and had recovered rom all the sas from the other customers. She went and got my clothes, and I too had a few shirts of my husbands that weren't quite ready. Instead of making a fuss I told her that was alright and I would be back tomorrow. She apologized over and over and offered to comp the price of the shirts when I can get them. She said they had been a little busy this passed weekend and were still catching up on the dry cleaning. No problems here, I know she wasn't cleaning the shirts, so no need to get mad with her. Things happen. I told her she was doing a wonderful job and complimented how well she was handling things. She smiled graciously, like that was the only compliment she had gotten in the flood of dissatisfied customers. She thanked me and I too her. When I went in and collected my shirts this morning I was handed a card by another associate and thought of Paige. So, of course I had to come to tell you all that you have a wonderful worker and she deserves to win this contest. She went above and beyond for all the customers in front of me and they gave her such a hard time, but she was very kind, apologetic, and kept her head high and a smile on her face. Things get tough in customer service, and she handled it like a pro. I hope this makes it to her and you show her how much people like her are appreciated. GREAT JOB PAIGE!!!

I’ve been coming for years and this time they saved my ass. I dropped off a suit for dry cleaning late Saturday but forgot I needed that specific suit for a work event Monday. After a few calls, each time getting a person, not a recording, they were able to catch my order and get it done Monday morning in time for my flight and work event. Great customer service experience!

I took my favorite blanket to Puritan because they appeared to be the highest rated and most trusted cleaner in the area. They were very friendly and the customer service was nice and all but my blanket came back completely f****d up. What was once a couple loose stitches and a small tear in one spot has become a totally ruined and unusable comforter with the inside fluff flooding out. They were kind enough to label my comforter as damaged before cleaning though :)))) I’ll never be going back.

What good thing can I say about the Staples Mill location, none really, they’re customer service skills on a scale of 1-10 they get a 1, they must realize that when you leave off a item the customer has to come all the way back from where they live to pick it up, everyone doesn’t live right around the corner, then when u get there you get this nonchalant, half sleep person at the front register, this location needs to get with the program and DO BETTER!!!!!!

This is my first time using a dry cleaners and they were incredibly helpful and had excellent customer service. Assistant Manager Tiffany is the person who helped me when I came in and she was awesome to work with. Highly recommend using them!

I just found the address to do a review! On Monday of this week, the cleaners was very busy! Its usually busy but this day they were overwhelmed. Looked like only two young ladies were there at the fron desk. I had a few people in front of me and they seemed to have a few issues about their cleaning not being done on time, and gave her a hard time. When it was my turn, a young blonde lady called Paige waited on me. She greeted me with a huge smile and had recovered rom all the sas from the other customers. She went and got my clothes, and I too had a few shirts of my husbands that weren't quite ready. Instead of making a fuss I told her that was alright and I would be back tomorrow. She apologized over and over and offered to comp the price of the shirts when I can get them. She said they had been a little busy this passed weekend and were still catching up on the dry cleaning. No problems here, I know she wasn't cleaning the shirts, so no need to get mad with her. Things happen. I told her she was doing a wonderful job and complimented how well she was handling things. She smiled graciously, like that was the only compliment she had gotten in the flood of dissatisfied customers. She thanked me and I too her. When I went in and collected my shirts this morning I was handed a card by another associate and thought of Paige. So, of course I had to come to tell you all that you have a wonderful worker and she deserves to win this contest. She went above and beyond for all the customers in front of me and they gave her such a hard time, but she was very kind, apologetic, and kept her head high and a smile on her face. Things get tough in customer service, and she handled it like a pro. I hope this makes it to her and you show her how much people like her are appreciated. GREAT JOB PAIGE!!!

Have used Puritan for years but never had alterations done there. Excellent results at very reasonable prices. A real plus is the staff at the Staples Mill location. They are welcoming and so pleasant. Always a good experience.
