I purchased a Regency insert from High's in October. They installed the new stove, lined the chimney, and disposed of the old stove. The crew was pleasant, my wife said that they were singing while they worked. They cleaned up after themselves and were very courteous. Gene knows a lot about chimneys but apparently doesn’t know how to avoid getting soot all over floors and carpet! I was extremely upset at Highs for leaving such a dirty mess and upset at myself for trusting their professionalism and failing to check on them prior to paying and having them leave my home!

Our family recommends highs chimney service. We were having water damage in our ceiling when it rained. Justin and victor came to our house, they assessed the chimney and found multiple points where water was entering our home. They took very good pictures so we could see the extent of the damage. They wrote us a estimate for the best solution to fix the problem. David and his crew came to do the work and rebuild our chimney. They were very professional , the masonry work was excellent. And they cleaned very well before they left and gave us before and after photos. They fixed the problem and stopped the water entry and we have a brand new chimney. 5 stars for highs chimney.

Now they are putting in a new stainless steel liner in preparation for a new hot water heater. We don't recommend using this company if you care about your home. The employees left black fingerprints on the door jams, soot on all surfaces. While working the employee missed the drop cloth resulting in a pile of soot on our carpet. He vacuumed it al the while spreading it into a 3' area. The employee lied and said the carpet was already dirty. The foreman said he and the manager would come discuss our experience and they never showed up. Note: they did pay to have the carpet professionally cleaned. We would given them less then 1 star if possible. Again, we would NOT recommend this company!. Unsatisfied customer

I've had truly unprofessional, exasperating service from this company. A representative came to my house on August 1, 2014 and said that a Regency woodstove insert could be installed "by next Friday." After FOUR different crews came over during a THREE MONTH period the stove was finally installed, but now the blower has proved defective. I can't waste anymore time with High's Chimney Service; I must now buy and install a new blower myself. The really insulting aspect of this company's service was that they seemed to blame me for such things as a damaged chimney liner and crooked chimney cap. The last time they came to correct their own mistakes I was almost involved in fisticuffs with the surly individual who showed up. This company needs to fold up and crawl back into their hole.

Scheduling was so easy and quick. They had special $30 off of $199. I told the lady our height is 30 feet and she said they have right ladders for that. Tech arrived on time . When I opened the door I was shocked he didn’t have covers for his shoes and then he layed a movers blanket on my rug. I asked him if he was going to cover the fireplace with plastic like last company did. He said no just the shop vac running while scrubbing. I asked him why he was not on top of the roof to scrape and he said I can do it from inside. I was shocked because I didn’t want this done from inside. So when he was done no debris came off so I asked did you use the big enough brush and he said yes. I asked him to go on the roof. He went on roof to take pictures of outside of chimney. He didn’t scrape from the top . I was waiting in the living room to hear him but no. They’re the biggest chimney company in md and fastest. This is what they told me. I’m still shocked. We just cleaned our rugs . All the other companies put shoe covers on and put blankets if they’re rolling equipment on the rugs. This guy rolled the massive shop vac on three of my rugs.

Gene from High's Chimney has been my go to guy for the past 10 years. He identified issues in our new home's chimney and worked tirelessly to help trouble-shoot and resolve them. Originally, smoke from the chimney used to flow back into our living room and during the summer the humidity within the chimney would cause our home to stink. After year 1, Gene installed a fan at the top of our chimney resolving all problems. Despite burning 3 cords of wood a year, our annual chimney cleans are typically low maintenance jobs for Gene and his crew. Gene is always up front and honest and I've always appreciated the work he does to keep our home safe. I've used other companies with a prior home, but once I found Gene and HIgh's Chimney, I'd never let another company service my home.

Well I was very happy with the service BUT they only cleaned my top chimney and not the one to the basement. They said I needed to redo my chimney and have a second "clean" out or something put in to catch the soot. WELL they always cleaned it before and this was not an issue because of wood stoves. They said the liner would protect it. I had the wood stove removed from the basement BUT the liner is still in. So they COULD HAVE CLEANED IT. Jeezzzz. Let's see if I can get them to try again.

First the positive, the Customer Service person I spoke with was exceptionally professional and apologetic for my experience. In addition, I met an employee Omar that was humping concrete up and down the ladder near my neighbors house and I never saw him once take a break. However, today I was supposed to have a chimney cap installed. The two employees they sent had every excuse on why they couldn't do the job. First, they claimed there was no parking - which we always move our cars to make certain contractors have a spot out front of our house. He then said his truck wouldn't fit in my spot even though he has a van and I have a large SUV. I then offered to move my other car and then he stated he wouldn't be able to get the ladder off from the back. I moved my car and his truck fit in with plenty of room in the front and back, but still claimed he couldn't get the ladder off from the back. I said why didn't you either get the ladder off before you moved into my spot or get it off from the front - he responded no we need to get them off from the back, but never addressed why he didn't pull the ladder off before moving into my spot. He wanted us to re-schedule during the week. It was clear he had no interest in doing the job on the weekend. Again, customer service was top notch - she was willing to try and send an employee who was in Laurel doing a job come to DC. However, that wouldn't be fair to him because of his two lazy colleagues.

We just replaced a wood insert fireplace installed by Highs about 8 years ago with a gas insert. The wood insert that went through the chimney was done incorrectly with the insulation.
