DO NOT RECOMMEND - I used Dennis @ Goodrich Cleaning for a move-out clean of a graduate student house in Hanover. For a 5 bedroom/3 bathroom home, we were quoted that the job would take around 9-10 hours (a final 9.25 hours), or $370. I paid Dennis in cash the quoted amount, discussed the timing of his team coming and going as we were in the process of moving out (it was agreed that most items would be cleaned after all tenants moved out), and let him and his team proceed as discussed. Months later, I received my deposit back on our home (it was subletted over the summer), and to my surprise another $370 (9.25 hours) had been charged to my landlord and thus, deducted from my deposit. We had now been charged for a total of 18.5 hours, or $740, for a 5 br house that had been professionally cleaned on a bi-weekly basis for the entire tenure of our residence. For comparison's sake, my husband's home with 5 male residents was cleaned for less than $500 in the comparable town of Ithaca. Furthermore, no one from Goodrich Cleaning contacted me regarding the increased charge or any issues that arose during cleaning, but when Dennis and his team were at my home he reassured me that this preliminary cleaning would be "worth it" as it reduced the cleaning that would have to be done later. Not only is it fairly apparent to me that we were taken advantage of by the typical predatory vendors in the Dartmouth College area, and double charged for their services (as a former auditor, it seems pretty strange/unlikely that there were two invoices in the exact same amount of 9.25 hours), the way this was handled after the fact was even more pathetic. After contacting Dennis, it was pretty obvious that he didn't look up our account or have any record of how much time was spent in our home, and quickly explained that "A lot of people were in and out and things we're recleaned due to this. The bedrooms and washing everything including walls, inside drawers and all furniture is also very time consuming." What a lame/dismissive response, with no thought or consideration, and I expressed my further frustration with the way it was handled by saying the following "Over 18 hours is significantly more time than was originally quoted, even after we spoke when you initially came by the house. As we discussed several times, cleaning was also delayed to avoid significant recleaning, and the majority of the house was empty by 6/14 (the date of your invoice to Jolin). Furthermore, if there was such a large discrepancy in the amount originally quoted (100% increase), I would have expected a call/text/e-mail regarding this significant increase in hours - I did not receive any such communication at any point in time. Unfortunately and ultimately, there is no way to prove or disprove the amount of time that was spent within the house, but I'm really disappointed in the way this was handled and the amount that we were charged for the cleaning with no explanation." His response "Sorry for your disappointment" further reinforced his immaturity and irresponsibility as a small business owner.

The first time Dennis and his team came to clean, they did show up a half hour late, but they did a thorough job. They set the price based off of the first cleaning (even though future cleanings would take less time), but whatever. However, this was just a bait and switch. The second time, Dennis was hard to reach over the phone but eventually I was able to have him send people to clean. This time, they came an hour late. When I contacted Dennis, he got extremely defensive and aggressive instantly saying, pretty much, how should he know where his employees are and what a time estimate would be? As the owner and the person scheduling his team, he would be the person to contact. When they did decide to show up (without even apologizing), they were running so late that they rushed through the cleaning, neglecting surfaces (kitchen table, living room table, bed side tables, etc.) and leaving everything thrown about where they moved them to clean (carpets hung on doors, soap containers left randomly in bedroom, etc.). I told Dennis, and (defensive and aggressive as ever) he told me all he could do was give me 50% off my next service - after paying $105 to have two people essentially vacuum, he wanted me to pay extra to have them come fix their mistakes. I communicated my disappointment with the situation and tried to speak to him like a human, explaining why I didn't feel I could trust the cleaners at this point. Instead of offering, say, to refund part of this payment or to come see the place himself or send someone else to fix it, he sent a HUGE, wildly unprofessional rant to me in which he said he can't give time estimates ever (so if you need things done in a specific time frame, look elsewhere). They also damaged our baseboard and when my fiance told Dennis he, again, responded with defensiveness and aggression rather than normal human communication. He took zero responsibility and then called my fiance to rant and yell at him about the situation. Now we're on the line for the "cleaning" (which I had to re-clean) and for the damage. Yikes. If you're looking for a sign to look elsewhere for your cleaning services, this is it. I know I am.
