This was my first time using a cleaning services so I didn't really know what to expect ahead of time but they're definitely overpriced for what you get. I didn't get to talk to someone beforehand about what I wanted to be done and when they got here they told me it would be extra to do certain things. The rating system the company uses is flawed since you hand the form to the person you're rating- awkward. I rated high but afterward as I began using the spaces again I noticed a lot had gone uncleaned (soap scum in tub, spots on kitchen floor, kiddie table wasn't even wiped down). Canceled future cleanings- hopefully will have better luck with another services.

We have been using Merry Maids for nearly three years, ever since I had my first child. Terrie who cleans our home is highly efficient, very professional, and pays close attention to details. She’s extremely pleasant and trustworthy. I know she cleans multiple houses, but she still remembers exactly how I want my house cleaned, bathrooms cleaned, beds made, floors wiped down, etc. The cost is certainly worth the excellent service we receive. Made and appointment approximately 8 to 9 days prior to the date set for a house in the south hills that had been vacant for over a year. I explained that I had time constraints as I had a new renter ready to move in and I work intense retail hours. I was also very direct in the good and the bad about this job and I booked for today Friday Sept 10, as I had also scheduled other work to be done same day, as this is my only day off in the next 9 days. I was sent a text the day before telling me of an arrival around noon. The other work was completed as I was there around 11 am to meet those people Noon came and went, I inquired and was told they were trying to get in touch with person scheduled . Then I was asked if I can leave the door unlocked, then I get a text suggesting that the person was 18 minutes away, then I'm told that was not happening and can they come next Tuesday. Don' use these people. I have secured a competitor with a written guarantee for my time frame next week. I think they new all along they were not coming today.

This is honestly the worst cleaning experience I've ever experienced. The maids would clean for less than 20 minutes and the results were always unsatisfactory. They basically just ran a swifter over the kitchen floor and never attended to anything that need cleaned--wiping light fixtures down, outlets, walls. When you attempted to call the number, it was virtually impossible to get a real person on the phone, the answering machine would always pick up. I will never use a large scale cleaning service like this again.

After expressing my desire to cancel the service, they attempted to sell me more services. After I declined and still expressed interest in cancelling, they simply cancelled the service and charged me $400 for breaking the contract early. I asked them when my last service date was and when my contract was up (it was due up in two months, so why would I cancel and be charged needlessly) and received no reply. Just because I inquire about cancelling does not mean I wished to cancel immediately. My contract calls for two rooms to be deep cleaned on a rotating basis but I have no once seen this happen. When I asked the nameless representative about it and what constitutes a deep cleaning, they side-stepped the question and said that they were implementing an email service to let customers know what rooms would be deep cleaned that visit. I have yet to see any such emails. Further, their emails do not contain an email history and the person to whom I was conversing didn't bother leaving a name. I would never recommend this company to any of my friends. As a previous poster commented their services are overpriced. I have a friend in Mt. Lebanon who pays the same price to do her entire 4 bedroom house as I did for my two bedroom apartment (and they only did one room and none of my hallways), but the real issue is they don't clean! We hired them when I was working full time out of the house. I was always swamped and never actually looked. The floors were done ok (we have cats so I know they are hard to get done) and it appeared clean, that was all that mattered. The stuff that wasn't great I chalked up to the cats being home alone all day (hair on furniture/kitty litter on floors). I did call about base boards being noticeably dirty a couple times and was told they only do them bi-weekly. When I started working from home I noticed that nothing was actually getting done. I called and they sent someone new to re clean the apartment. She complained the entire time about how obvious it was that the past maids never cleaned things they were supposed to. I really liked this girl. Next cleaning comes about and the house wasn't done again. I called yet again and this time they refunded my service fee. I was having guests over and they couldn't accommodate sending someone back that day. They told me they would put the girl I like on my schedule, but they would need to switch days...that never happened. The next time I called for the house being unclean they sent out someone to reclean it, no refund. It was ok. Working from home was a double edge sword I now was able to see not only was the floor not getting done, counters not being scrubbed, furniture not being vacuumed, and base boards not being done, but they weren't dusting. My house is FILLED with cobwebs and they were "cleaning" biweekly and several times weekly due to the bad job before!! I cancelled my service. It took me over a week to get a hold of the office. They weren't answering their phones or returning messages. The answering service tried to connect me to corporate and I got a recording stating "the phone lines were down". I am so angry that I paid for services I only received a handful of times. My advice, if you hire them check your house and take pictures before and after. The idea of trusting it is getting done, isn't good enough. This is partially my fault for not looking at shelves and around fixture bases, but when you pay for a service you expect them to do it. We also have white spots all over our unfinished hard wood floors that look like white paint now.

We have been using Merry Maids of Pittsburgh for nearly a year and are extremely satisfied with their service. The people who clean our very large house are highly efficient, very professional, and pay close attention to details. They always ask if there are any additional special tasks that they can do for us. The people who do the cleaning are always friendly and keenly interested in ensuring we are satisfied with their work. The cost is certainly worth the excellent service we receive.

This is by far the worst cleaning experience. The cleaning is very inconsistent and not always complete or thorough. The cleaning crew is usually done within an hour, which makes a rushed and less then exceptional clean for a larger house. I was told when I agreed to use Merry Maids the cleaning crew would be the same each time. That has not been consistently true – there are some of the same people, but some different people every time. This could be why the job is different every time. Bottom line the results were unacceptable, and we cancelled our service after weeks of calls explaining that our house was not clean. Please don’t fall for their “DEEP CLEAN” first time charge. I’m not actually sure what their idea of a deep clean is. When I don’t believe they cleaned my hardwood floors the entire time I had them. If you like paying someone for a once over with a dry paper towel then this cleaning service is for you, but in reality save your money and find someone else.

I called for a free estimate and they told me I would receive a call back and the guy never even spoke when I repeatedly said hello. I would give 0 stars and I would not recommend. Very poor customer service.
