We had a fireplace insert installed on August 19,2014. The installation was done by Owens Chimney Systems.The installation was completed without any problems. The technicians Joseph and Taylor were great. They were professional,courteous, knowledgeable, and clean. Would definitely use Owens Chimney Systems again. We had Owens Chimney Systems inspect and clean our fireplace insert on 9/12/2015. Always impressed with their professionalism and thoroughness. David and Joe did a great job. Last week we started to have a smell coming from our uncapped dual flue chimney. Not knowing how to fix the problem myself I reached out for help. I contacted Owens Chimney by phone and got voicemail (after hours) so I signed up for an appointment/call back on their website. The next morning (around 9am) I got a call from their office Thursday and I had an appointment scheduled for the following Monday between (8:30-9:30). I was able to set my work schedule so that I could work from home so it worked out. This morning Brandon showed up around 8:30-45 and quickly got to work. We talked a bit about the workings of a chimney, dampers, caps etc. He was very knowledgeable and professional. Even my English Bulldog liked him (not unusual, but it was nice to see someone take the time to greet your pet). After the cleaning everything was left spotless. I also had them install a cap on the chimney. I would definitely recommend Owens Chimney Systems in the future to anyone needing their chimney serviced. I was worried about pricing, as anyone would be when you have no idea on what to expect. Their pricing was reasonable for the time spent and resources used. Thanks for the help.

David and Craig inspected and cleaned our chimney today. These are two hard working guys who seem serious about doing a great job. One has worked with Owens 4 years, the other 2 years. The last time we had this done was four years ago, and we had such a positive experience with Owens that we hired them again. Today they explained the condition of the fireplace and chimney and showed photographs of the various issues. They were clear and easy to understand. Since we use the fireplace a lot in the winter (it burns wood), we are motivated to keep it in good condition.

I have had the most wonderful experience with Owens Chimney so far. I moved into a new home, and the previous owner told me that she had had the fireplace and chimney inspected and cleaned before she sold the home. Before I lit a fire, I decided it probably needed to be inspected and cleaned just to make sure. I looked up companies around Charlotte, and Owens had a 5 star rating and amazing reviews, so I gave them a call. They were flexible with my time and getting me scheduled. I mentioned to my technician that I was told the fireplace was cleaned before, and he let me know that if it didn't need to be cleaned, he wouldn't clean it, and they would just charge me for the inspection. That's exactly what happened; I didn't feel that I was being pressured or taken advantage of in any way. Actually, the technician was by far the nicest, most personable, and patient person I've had working in my home. Knowing nothing about fireplaces or chimneys, I asked a lot of questions, and he answered all of them in "human speak," explaining the technical jargon in a way that I could understand. I do have to have work done to bring my chimney up to code, and they have bent over backwards for me to get the work scheduled around my ability to pay for it. I genuinely look forward to them coming into my home again because I know that they'll respect me, the space, and that they're going to do a great job. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for someone to service and repair their chimneys and fireplaces.

Last year they fixed our chimney and installed a new wood burning stove after another company had caused more damage to an already damaged chimney. Craig came this morning to do a chimney sweep (did a thorough, excellent job and left behind NO MESS), and noticed that we needed more maintenance on our chimney. He was kind enough to call David with Owens, and David was able to work our home in to his day's schedule. Really appreciated that I didn't have to take a second day off! Craig and David both arrived cheerful, polite and went right to work. Both took photographs of things I could not see from the roof, and explained everything / answered all my questions thoroughly. They are so knowledgeable, so polite and so hard-working. Years ago, when we moved into this house, we had Owens come to look at the fireplace. They said it would need extensive work. We said we'd prefer a wood stove and they were extremely helpful in providing the information we needed to decide on the right purchase. They installed it, and it has worked excellently all these years. We are getting a new roof, and the company we chose, Charlotte Pro Roofing actually took photos of the chimney during his roof inspection and brought them back down to show us. Mr Vasilevich showed details of how Owens installed the wood stove chimney properly and explained that so many companies can "look" like they've done it correctly, but have taken a short-cut to save them time and money --- and it means the chimney cracks and has to be replaced in a year. Brandon came out today to complete an inspection and cleaning on our chimney/fireplace. Brandon was on time and extremely professional with his work. Excellent Product and Top Notch Service - I hired OCS to install a Regency Panorama gas fireplace in my two-month old home. Washing machine went bad, when old one was removed noticed the dryer vent material in bad shape, flex material was used from dryer to crawl space and to the outside had several holes. Tyler, Tony, and Blake recently did extensive repairs to the inside and outside of my fireplace/chimney. Prior to that, other Owens employees have been to my house to inspect the chimney and give me an estimate for repairs. Every Owens employee who has been to my house and done work for me has been exceptionally professional and courteous. They showed up on time when they said they would and completed the work a lot faster than I expected. The work was not cheap but the quality of the customer service was excellent and you get what you pay for.

My only gripe was I had to follow up with them to actually receive the report 3 weeks later and the estimate that they provided for repair work included more than what I had originally asked for. The work included removal and replacement of a large rectangular powder coated chimney cap. The work was atop a three story house. It included additional work to repair the base upon which the cap sits as will as patching stucco holes created by woodpeckers and re-painting the chimney with a base color and a trim color. Additionally, two fireplace gas log systems were removed and replaced. One on the interior of the house and the other outside within a covered lower patio. The work spanned two days and was performed by Tony, Ryan and Forrest. With my experience as a home builder for over three decades intimately familiar with the building trades, I am most qualified to evaluate the performance of all three Owens' employees. First, and critically important for me, an Owens' first time customer, was my initial impression of all three technicians. All three professionally introduced themselves, were personable, conversed in a friendly manner and past my first 15 second test by demonstrating confidence in their skills and explaining the jobs at hand. Second, all attacked their respective job, worked diligently from start to finish. During the process, they interacted with me about the fireplace operation and the roof top work underway. Once the jobs were completed, they shifted their technicial skills to administrative skills in finalizing the payment for the jobs. I was highly impressed with the finished products and even more impressed with Tony, Ryan and Forrest. Taylor came out this past time to clean and inadvertently broke a small part on one of the screens. He was unable to repair so he offered to replace my entire fireplace screen! Finding someone who is knowledgeable about gas fireplaces isn't as easy as I thought it would be. Most places say they just don't do that, but Ryan & William from Owens came, and they were more than able to help with the fireplace. With their equipment they were able to note things about the chimney that I feel other places may have found too bothersome to deal with, or care. They were friendly, professional, and able to answer all my questions, even the ones I didn't know I needed to ask. My daughter had birds in the chimney of her new house. I house-sat while Craig, the technician, came by to remove the birds and clean the chimney. He did a very thorough look at the chimney with a telescoping camera and determined that the birds couldn't be removed at that time. He was able to identify the birds, which are federally protected, and explained why we needed to wait. Five weeks later, Craig returned, and took care of cleaning and inspecting the chimney and installing a chimney cap. He had to remove a rather large wood stove in order to do this. There was no mess at all, and no smell either. He had the stove replaced in no time. Both times, Craig was there before the allotted time, and was very professional and friendly. I would highly recommend both him and Owens Chimney Systems.

Our project was to replace an aged fireplace insert and logs as well as repair damaged chimney siding by upgrading to a brick veneer with ornate cap to match the exterior of our home.
