UPDATE: This was originally a one-star review, but I have decided to change it to three stars as the owner of the business took his time to call me personally and apologize for the unusable state of my ties after having them cleaned at American Dry Cleaners. He offered to refund me for the charge I received for having my first tie "fixed" and he also offered to fix my second tie. I declined based on the quality of repair my first tie received and told him that although I appreciated it, I would be visiting another tailor. He also offered to refund me for the cost of the tailor's repairs, something I greatly appreciate. I have altered my rating not only out of appreciation for his phone call and gestures, but because my conversation with him made me think that my experience may have been more of a fluke than the norm. Terrible dry cleaners. I had them dry clean my suit, including three ties. When I went to pick them up, they told me one of the ties had come apart, and I'd have to wait a few days to pick it up. When I did pick it up, they charged me extra for fixing it, even though they had messed it up! Furthermore, they didn't even do a good job fixing it. The tie was lumpy and uneven. To make matters worse, I reached for another tie today that they'd cleaned, and it had come unstitched completely! Another tie rendered useless. I'll have to pay even more now to have a real tailor fix my ties. I will NEVER give American Dry Cleaners my business again, and I don't think anybody else should.

Overall getting my cleaning back in a timely manner is great, but doing my order correctly is most of the time wrong over the many years. I stopped coming at one time and they asked me to come back. I did but for what the same results. If you ask for your shirts to me the same every time how can you get the order wrong every other time? Very disappointing.

At the the beginning of the spring season, I took all of my winter/cold weather clothing to American Dry Cleaners for a final season cleaning. I picked up the items and tucked them away in a closet for later wear during cold weather. As I pulled several of my dresses out of the cleaner bags, I realized that the hems were completely out of the dresses. They were not in this condition when I dropped them off. I took the dresses back and met with a very nice woman who looked up my order in the system and confirmed that the dresses were not damaged when I brought them in. She apologized and assured me that they would be hemmed. I went to pick up the dresses today and not only were they not hemmed, there was a charge of $29.00 (which I declined). They informed me that the owner, Larry, instructed them NOT to do anything to the dresses. He even questioned that I had them cleaned at their facility. Added that too much time had passed for them to do anything with the dresses and I should have checked each item when I brought them home. Larry, I'm a business owner myself and appreciate good, honest customer service; I understand the value of making things right with a client. The nonchalant "we don't care" attitude and further questioning if I even brought these items to your location was poor form as a business owner. Folks, there are plenty of good choices for getting your dry cleaning done. Avoid this one. They don't understand your value and aren't willing to own up when they damage your items.

I utilize this particular Dry Cleaners about once a month. 95% of my experiences are very positive. For me there is one thing that stands out about this business - the employees who I interact with at the front counter. To me, they are just as important as the employees who process my clothes, and condition of my clothes when I pick them up. However, there is one particular employee who in my opinion stands out. She always greets me in a friendly manner, smiles, and says "I hope you have a great day!" when I exit the business. She consistently goes the extra mile to make me feel the company values me as a customer and appreciates my business. While making customers feel valued sounds like a very common sense thing to do for a business, it is not always easy to do because businesses don't interact with customers, people do. And people are influenced by events inside and outside of work which at times can make it challenging to consistently smile and make customers feel appreciated. Hence, my review about this one employee. She's awesome!!!! American Dry Cleaners, if you are listening, I don't know this employee's name, but you probably do just based on my comments. I'd encourage you to take a moment today and provide this employee with some positive feedback and share how valuable she is to your operation. My two cents.

Took a pair of cotton capris in for a zipper replacement. Total cost for this item $25.66. I will never go back. Alteration shops are a lot less expensive. So disappointed as I have been a customer for years.

I believe this is the only dry cleaners in Charlotte. Been in business for over 40 years I know. I used to carry the Charlotte news and would drop off three papers to the dry cleaners. I'm now 61 and still getting my clothes cleaned ear. I don't think there's another dry cleaners in Charlotte if there is let me know

I called the facility to verify with employee the wash and fold service removed stains. The representative advised they will remove the stains. I received my towels back with stains and they overcharged saying I had 8 lbs. I went home to weigh towels and it was 6 lbs. I called to complain to the manager and she was very rude. I asked for the owner name and she hung up on me. They have poor customer service and service was horrible.
