REVIEWS OF Home Air Services IN Maryland

A Five Star Experience by a pleasant, skillful and humble team. Dexter, Nick, Lionel, Trisch and Kimberly work hard to correct and repair our fiscal and physical HVAC negligence with a smile. I have used Home Air for over fifteen years and they have always competently solved difficult jobs in commercial and residential settings. Including a historic building in the heart of DC built in the 1896.

Nick went above and beyond to fix our A/C, which was leaking like crazy. There must have been about 4 different things wrong with our unit, and he diagnosed and fixed them all, staying late to knock everything out in the same day. A+

Nick did a thorough evaluation of my HVAC system, including servicing all the parts. He made some recommendations that would prevent future failures and problems. I appreciated his knowledge and expertise and will follow the recommendations. He also installed the Nest thermostat which I had tried to do myself, but didn't accomplish. Very professional service.

Replaced an 18 year old heat pump with a new, high-efficiency American Standard unit. All of the work performed was completed in a professional manner. Lionel, the owner of the company, was extremely knowledgable about both the equipment and various aspects of the installation, and his crew did their job in an exemplary manner. All options available were addressed in detail, to include both efficiency ratings and the various rebates available through the local utility company. Based on my experience with Home Air Services, I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone requiring HVAC services.

I would give less than 1 star if I could. I bought a house with a brand new furnace that was having issues. Their professional opinion was to do cleaning and maintenance, and their unofficial professional opinion was that the furnace was the correct size. The problems continued the following winter; when they came out, the exact same master technician said the furnace was too small and should be replaced. All 3 floors were fully finished space and the house footprint hadn't changed. It's hard for me to understand how the professional opinion did a complete flip flop. In my opinion, the cost of the maintenance was excessive. After an email exchange with the owner about all this, he chose to bring up my 'inappropriate' attire when his techs came (going so far as to point out his wife's agreement with his assessment, mind you), that was TOTALLY unrelated to the concerns I raised. My view is that he was attempting to bully, embarrass, or somehow discredit me. Totally unprofessional, demeaning, disappointing, and pathetic in my view, and in my opinion, they don't deserve anyone's business.

Our heating system stopped making heat last week when the temperatures were in the teens. I called the company that installed the system and they said they could not get a repairman to my home for two days. I called Home Air Services and they sent someone out that afternoon. He replaced an electrical component in the unit and then tested the system which immediately began producing heat again. I am thankful to Home Air Services and will be using them in the future.

Home air came to our house multiple times to try to fix a broken air conditioner. The first time, the guy told us it was a problem with the thermostat and charged us for a new one, and promptly left. It then broke 2 days later. The next guy changed a switch of some kind in the wiring and said it would be perfect then. It broke a week later yet again. The 3rd guy said that the switch was perfectly fine and there was no reason to get it replaced, but then couldn’t figure out the problem so just gave us a new thermostat again. And again, it is broken and they can’t figure it out. Keep in mind, we paid FULL PRICE for all of these visits. I’m sitting in my 85 degrees living room without AC because of them. Do not use this company. Edit: CC their response, this is how they treat a customer of 17 years. They put all the blame on us. Once again I stand by what I said.

I had a great experience with Home Air Services that I wanted to share. We have an Aprilaire humidifier attached to our furnace and something went wrong with it causing standing water in our furnace room. I had done everything that could have been done by an amature - I purchased and installed a maintenance kit which included nearly all of the possible parts to replace. I scoured the FAQs and sent an email to Aprilaire asking for advice. Aprilaire was very helpful in several email exchanges and eventually even a couple of phone calls. We weren't able to diagnose the problem (mostly because I was reporting inaccurate observations). Eventually AprilAire said that we'd reached the end of the road and I needed to engage the professionals. I used their site to find a local Aprilaire service company and found Home Air Services. I relayed all of the information including diagnostics, the replacement parts, my (errant) observations, etc. to Susan who answered the phone. She sent a tech out - a nice young man named Enzo. Enzo had already learned from Susan the entire chain of events but I made him listen through it again to ensure that there was no misunderstandings - we had a mystery here to solve. Enzo examined the work that I had done and confirmed that I had installed the rights parts and done the work correctly. One of the things that I learned during the diagnostics was that the water flowing far too quickly into my unit. Enzo agreed that it was a very fast flow and was able to adjust it at the place where the tap into the copper line was done. He slowed the flow to the point that he said was correct and it was SUBSTANTIALLY slower. We watched the unit run for 15 minutes or so and all seemed well. Enzo charged me for a diagnostic all and we celebrated our success. An hour later I checked in the furnace room and found standing water again. I was a little disappointed and a little upset. I called Home Air Services back and they sent Enzo right back over. Enzo spent the next 90 minutes working diligently to figure out what the heck was going on and fixing it. It turns out the the pvc pipe that the drain line feeds into had clogged (probably at the 90 degree elbow where it navigates under the water heater). It was my inaccurate observations regarding where the water was coming from that led us down a completely different path initially (I know that the clogged drain line will be completely obvious to all of the Monday morning quarterbacks but I was pretty convincing about where the water was coming from). I braced myself for a steep bill for the second call and the additional worktime but the office told Enzo that there would be additional call! I see some of the other reviews where people had different experiences and I can't explain those but I will tell you that it's been a long time since I experienced something like this - in particular in the HVAC area - thank you Home Air Services, Susan, and Enzo!

Fantastic, as usual!

After my emergency service call, Home Air HVAC came back out to perform their annual maintenance inspection/tune up on all three systems. Replace the a capacitor and cleaned some filters, thank goodness for the annual maintenance program. :)
