I found Aardvark Residential and Commercial Services, Inc in Kansas City via craigslist when I needed the two feet or so of my chimney rebuilt above the roof of my house. They informed me they charge $65 for a "full report" on my chimney and any/all deficiencies but that cost would be applied to any subsequent work they would perform. They seemed reputable and talked a good game so I went along with it. At the same time I solicited one other quote from a mason who advertised chimney work in his craigslist ad. On 7/19/2013 Aardvarks Operations Manager James Scram came to my house and provided a quote. He rightly ascertained that the chimney could not be tuckpointed but that it needed to be rebuilt above the roof line and quoted $1000 to do the work. This amount was exactly double the cost that the other mason provided (inclusive of all materials and labor, including putting up scaffolding). From the minute he got there, James went on about the difficulties of this particular job. When he handed me the quote, I said, "You didn't really want this work did you." I wrote him a check for $65 and took it as a lesson learned to never do business with this company again.

I have nothing but great words for the staff at Aardvark. First off when calling around for pricing and explanation of service, Jerry at Aardvark was extremely helpful. He answered all of my questions, didn't put any pressure on the sale, and BY FAR gave me the best price quote. $150 less than the next closest company, and I had gotten quotes from 6 other companies in KC. I was also extremely impressed by Sean, the lead technician for Aardvark. Not only did he do a very thorough job of cleaning all of my duct work, but he also ran a hepa air scrubber in my home the entire time to keep the air quality clean as he broke up dust and cleaned the vents, he went into the crawl space and did a thorough cleaning of the system trunk too, and then sanitized with a fogger which was great! This company is awesome, and I would recommend them to anyone. Thanks to everyone that helped me at Aardvark!!

I had an air duct cleaning completed at the starting offer of $199.00 plus $20.00 dollars per additional vent after 12 vents. They were a little late when they arrived, but it was raining. After entering, they counted the vents and communicated the final price of all vents. They began removing the vents and running the vacuum hose through them. I did not see any before or after pictures to guarantee inside the vents were cleaned. There was dust left where the vents were taken off to clean. The sanitizing process lasted about 2-3 minutes. Overall, I would recommend paying a little more and getting a company that will provide pictures of their work and that communicates the cleaning process. If you want an adequate cleaning use them.

Update: the owner's son, Cole, came with Reid to check to make sure everything was done properly for my first air duct cleaning. They also cleaned my chimney for free to make up for the previous bad experience. I've been told that Sean no longer works for them, so that is good. I will choose to use them in the future when I need services. Thank you, Aardvark, for making things right. Original: The air duct cleaning services were good, and price was fair. My specific house had a room that had been partitioned off by the previous owner, leaving one of the rooms without a vent for heat. Sean was very nice, and offered to cut a vent hole in the ceiling of the room, and come back later that day with a vent cover to install over it. I was happy to have this completed as my room needed a vent. Unfortunately, Sean did not come back later like promised because of a personal situation I later found out. But I still would have appreciated a phone call, nonetheless. The next week I called the company to have them come out the following Saturday. Again, even though I had an appointment, no one showed up. I called the week after that and expressed my frustration, and was told that they didn't send any trucks out that day because of the bad weather. Okay, fine - but maybe call your customers that you set appointments up with and let them know? I then set up an appointment for the following Saturday, which Sean showed up to. The "new" vent he brought to install on my ceiling was rusty and dirty. I told him I was not happy with that, so he went to Menards and got a new one, which I appreciated. However my ceiling is now marked up from where he drew on it for the vent sizing. Overall, the job got done, but I'm rather unhappy about the no-shows for my appointments, that they wasted my time, and that now I have a marked up ceiling. And I'm honestly wondering whether the whole job was even done correctly. They were nice, but I'm still not happy.

This company gave us the lowest estimate by far, but the service was excellent. The technicians who came to our home were very nice, professional, and did a great job. We definitely recommend them and will use them again.

I do not know anything about fireplaces. The serviceman Bruce (and a guy in training) came out and did a fantastic job! He answered all my questions and did not make me feel like an idiot. They did a great job! My first experience is two thumbs up! I'd recommend them to a friend!

Competitive rates and punctual. I asked for a chimney cleaning and inspection, and the deficiencies they cited were in line with the home inspection I had just had done. The repairs were completed immediately and at a rate I would consider fair.

Aardvark did a great job cleaning my chimney. They worked hard and fast, checked the entire chimney from floor to roof for safety issues. Gave me some good advice and options on repairing some minor issues and quotes to repair. Sean and Chris were professional and did a great job. Left my home clean when they left. Thanks The only issue is I wish Aardvark had the Vac in the truck and not in the house. A lot of people (like me) have asthma, or other lung problems and would be affected by any dust from the vac. But It was not an issue. Did not create any dust that I could see. Chimney was left very clean I did the minor repairs myself that they suggested. I've been using the fireplace this winter and everything is great. Thank you aardvark , would recommend them to anyone
