They don't do in-home estimates so be prepared to have them give you an inaccurate estimate and then mysteriously not make it through your space in the time they estimate. They recommended for a house our size that we have four maids for two hours (the equivalent of 8 man hours). They were supposed to deep clean but only made it through 2/3of the house. They didn't do the dishes, they didn't wipe spots on the wall and I generally was not impressed. We have since found another maid service that cleans better for a lower price with half of the people in the same time. I played phone tag with the owner for a couple of weeks but got busy and didn't have time to keep chasing (oh yeah there hours are 9-5, most people's working hours, certainly mine!) them to make it right. Needless to say I've written off the $400 I wasted and won't use them again.

Did a great job. Rented a 3 bed 3.5 bath townhouse that wasn't cleaned prior to our arrival so contacted The Maids. We ordered the initial deep clean which cost $350 for 4 women to work about 2 hours. They worked their tails off and did a great job, including on their hands and knees scrubbing the floors of the bathrooms and kitchen. The place was in such bad shape we asked that they come out to mop the floors again which they happily scheduled at no charge the next day. Definitely going to bring them back for a follow up and would recommend them to anyone.

At first I thought it was pricey.. but the young lady I spoke to offered me a great deal, and the ladies that came to clean my house did a P H E N O M A N A L job!! I checked around to see about cleaning services and found out about The Maids. I have never been disappointed! The team does such an excellent job. Efficient, thorough cleaning. Everything from dusting to beds being made. Floors scrubbed by hand. Bathrooms & kitchen left sparkling!! I've never been able to make my sink sparkle - looks great! The team is friendly and bring smiles and good aura's. I love the little extras like the folded points on the toweling dispenser and bathroom rolls. They should make the scent they use available for purchasing!

I am disappointed! After making the decision to hire The Maids, I have had my house cleaned four times. The initial cleaning resulted in me calling them to have someone (Monica) come back and clean areas that were missed. Everyone was really nice about it, and the problems were addressed so we hired them to clean twice a month. We agreed upon a price after the initial visit. However, today I received a call that it's taking them longer to clean my house than it should based upon the initial cleaning. If I want to continue with their services, I have a few options. I can pay an additional $60 per cleaning, I can eliminate certain rooms to be cleaned, OR (Get This) I can pick up clutter before they arrive to cut down on their cleaning time. I am confused! I thought I was signing a contract based upon a price that they set. Sadly, I asked them to cancel my cleaning service. I do not trust that they would not come back in the future with similar demands.

I can't speak for the National Chain, but as far as The Maids of Portland is concerned, watch your back. They have been taking advantage of my parents for years. My father died and now they're just taking advantage of my mother. $180 to clean a one bedroom?? That was already mostly clean?! I know, because I did the work. When I questioned the owner, she shrugged me. The staff may be nice and deserve much more than paid, but as far as paying the The Maids, I highly suggest finding someone local, that cares, works for themselves and makes an effort for the client. I had a friend years ago that worked for The Maids, she reminded me of how poorly they treat their staff and help.

I just celebrated the four year anniversary of The Maids cleaning our home on a regular basis. I have them out twice a month. The team is always on time, pleasant, and they do a very nice job. Very expensive for very mediocre service. After $300, I still have to do the cleaning again myself, because so many areas were ignored or done inadequately. Supposedly they were supposed to return and do things correctly after I expressed my dissatisfaction, but they did not. Would not recommend.

this business deserves ZERO stars....I paid to have my house cleaned while I was out of town. When I arrived home, it was extremely obvious zero cleaning had been done as it was described when I made the appointment. I notified them of my complete dissatisfaction and filed a formal compliant with over 60 photos of the most obviously unclean surfaces on just the first level of my house - needless to say I asked for a full refund. They advised they would respond to my request by a certain timeframe and big surprise they failed to respond by said timeframe - just another example of their poor customer service and lack of commitment to provide service as they say they will

The Team Leader is great and the team is efficient and professional. They arrive during the set window and get to work right away. If I ask for something specific (but not time consuming) they take care of it. They completed a deep clean after my kitchen remodel and it made such a difference after living with construction for 12 weeks. I pre-arranged the deep clean to coincide with my regular cleaning and the team spent extra time cleaning baseboards and window sills in addition to regular dusting/cleaning. Lacep is the team leader for Team 5 and she is always so pleasant. My dog Charlie always greets them with delight and they are kind enough to give him a very nice hello.

The cleaning job was great. However, on the second job they managed to destroy a charging cord and instead of saying so and showing me, they tucked it away under the couch. Cheap to replace, but I can't trust a company that hides a mistake instead of immediately owning up to it. They said they'd replace it, but for $6 it wasn't worth the bother. Besides, either way I wouldn't trust them back again.

When it was time to come out they wanted to come early but I was still working so that wasn't a good time for me so I rescheduled. I called to reschedule the lady was very rude and told me they don't service my area. I explained to her that I had an appointment before but she still denyed me. Miss quoted them lied about it when asked to look into this. Charged us almost double what they said and didn't clean everything they said they would in the hour they said they would. The cleaning was great for what they did and they where friendly. Would never trust what they say on the quote. Update my wife used the service so it's not in my name. We tried to call but you wouldn't do anything to help.

Upfront, I will say that the cleaning was fabulous. However, $1000 to get my home cleaned?!? Seriously, not that dirty. I have neighbors with similar sized houses, that were paying $500-$600 to get their home cleaned. I absolutely understand the costs associated with being a franchised business, but how long do you expect to stay around if you are charging $400-$500 MORE than your competitors?

I recently had The Maids service for Move-in cleaning. and It was terrible. I was full term pregnant and had a 18months toddler. so I was out of the home while The Maids Team was working. 4 people came to clean for 2 hours and 40 mins and I had to pay $564. But I was not worth money at all. I chooses this service because of all the good reviews saying your cleaning service is detail oriented and the webpage explains all the details about what will be done and how to be taken care of. However, when I got the service I did not even recognize the difference of before and after. Since the initial condition of the house was pretty clean, I wanted to have a detail cleaning such as inside a cabinets and microwave around vent. Kitten area was still oily and dirty after the service. inside a cabinet was dusty. Stove, microwave, and the vent area was still oily. I had to clean all over again by myself. One of the cleaning team broke the shower door while cleaning and the manager came to fix it 3 days later. and I was able to get a discount since she agreed the service was poor. I was not able to check every room and the bathroom since I did not move in to the this property yet. I had the service before my move in date. so I did not have time to go over and check all the rooms and bathrooms. When I moved in, I realised the toilets and the bathtub still have moldy spots and I had to clean them all over again. I sent “The maids” an email about the situation but I never heard them back for months. My opinion about the service was totally ignored. I NEVER want to experience The Maids Service again. If you want move in cleaning, I DO NOT recommend The Maids At all. (Attached picture shows how dusty inside the cabinet was.)

We have been using "The Maids" for several years now. Our team is the Onyx Team, and the Leader is Maggie. It is wonderful to come home to a clean house. If we need something in particular done, they are always willing to do that. Right now we are remodeling and the house is especially dusty and in chaos, but they come in and get it cleaned up again! It's helping to keep us sane during this remodel!! Maggie and her girls are very sweet. We are lucky to have them!

I had them do the nasty stuff, bathroom, kitchen, refrigerators, plus the detail dusting and they just totally nailed it all! Wildly exceeded my expectations. The central organization and all of the employees we've interacted with are highly professional, very organized, and so accommodating. The cleaning is simply the best I have had anywhere - consistent, detailed, and very thorough. It's wonderful to come home and discover that the floors, kitchen and bathroom are spotless, the SIDES of my furniture have been vacuumed, the light switches are clean, and even my son's bath toys are perfect. Rachelle and her team do a very good job. We've had several teams in the several years we've been using The Maid's services and have been generally pleased by nearly all of them. Rachelle is very detail oriented and reacts well to comments and suggestions. When there have been issues, management responds quickly. We like the fact that they have 3 or 4 people that come, so cleaning gets done quickly. In maybe 75-90 min. they're on their way and I once again have a clean house!

I would leave no stars if i could. Honestly no respect for my house or my things, heard her trash talking my 3 dishwashers and then they did a poor job cleaning the dining room floor. Just lots of areas completely untouched that i paid a lot of money for them to come and clean! Completely unacceptable, they will not be coming back into my house again! And yes i already asked their manager to make it right and they simply offered a 25 dollar credit for my next house cleaning. Pathetic...

We LOVE the Maids! We tried other, less expensive professional services and the old saying is true.. You get what you pay for! The Maids are not exorbitantly expensive and worth every penny! I love coming home after the Maids have been here, the house smells great and there are special little touches that make all the difference. Sometimes I have left a ribbon on my bureau, just left over from something and the Maids have tied it around a vase or jar, just for fun. They always leave a card with a thank you. Much appreciated! The Maids are very professional and their attention to detail is impeccable. I highly recommend them! By the way, we have our house cleaned every third week since it is just my Husband and me here. As a busy (ahem) older professional, I had been dreaming of hiring The Maids for a very long time. I've never had my whole house clean - at the same time. Always a bathroom OR the kitchen OR the bedrooms, etc. That ended when I called The Maids. These ladies never stopped moving and I had a truly CLEAN home for the first time in a long time. They cleaned my oven. They emptied the crumbs in the tray under my toaster(!) They cleaned my ceiling fan blades - on my cathedral ceiling. And they didn't shame me over my disgraceful bathroom (very important!) It was wonderful. Don't hesitate. They are worth every penny, and truthfully, given the man(woman)power they provided, I couldn't have done in 8 hours the amount of work they did as a team in 2.

This service is terrible !!! Hired them to clean home before I moved in. Regardless of the fact I had to change carpet it wasn’t vacuumed. Oven was dirty. Fridge wasn’t clean. They were suppose to clean kitchen cupboards. That was done poorly. Trash was still under bathroom sink cabinet. Disappointed. So here I am cleaning up how it was supposed to be done today Sunday before I move in. Never again.

Way over priced my house is pretty much spotless it really just needed baseboards rubbed down under the beds the spots you don't always get. cleaned one and a half baths. They cleaned an already really clean house. Cost me $500 for 2 hrs. They said they were there 45 mins longer than they actually were. Trust me I had my stepson who was home tell me what time they came and left. Will never use them or recommend them to anyone.

They knocked over a can of paint in my empty apartment, and denied all responsibility. We hired them the clean the apartment (which we haven't been living in) before our lease was over. We let them in, then left, asking them to just leave the keys on the counter when they were done. When we came back a few days later to check it out, we found they had spilled paint over the carpet. Nobody had been in the apartment in between the times they were in there and when we came back to check. No mention of it at all. They didn't call us, didn't try to clean it up, didn't even make a note of it. We called the company who denied the claim and all responsibility, implying that we are liars. The service is insanely overpriced to begin with. It cost $480 for 2.5 hours cleaning an empty apartment -- no furniture to move or clean under, no obstacles. We spent $480 for an average cleaning, and to have paint spilled across our carpet and into the wall crevasse. We were a little hesitant to have someone in our home unattended, especially because we have a small dog. But they were completely professional, punctual, and thorough. Horrible! SCAM ARTISTS They quoted a price and charged nearly DOUBLE without authorization! We tried to resolve with Nicole who was rude and refused to refund the $617 that we were charged for 1 cleaning! (Even though we were quoted $300! They did a horrendous job, did NOT wipe down walls, cupboards or sinks. We had to make a special emergency trip to the house to finish cleaning it ourselves ( everything that they missed!) The first time I had them out, the crew that was here was incredibly efficient and I was impressed by the job that they did. Arrived exactly when they said they would, took about two and a half hours to do an initial cleaning of the house, which needed it since I had recently moved and it wasn't left particularly clean by the previous owners. They did a great job and left the place in much better condition than when they arrived. They even easily worked around the boxes that weren't yet unpacked. (The first visit is why I have given three stars. If my review was based on that visit alone, my rating would have been higher for the work done during that appointment.) Because of how well the first crew did, I decided to schedule monthly service. Today would have been the first time that they returned after the initial visit. My appointment was for today with a window from noon to 2pm. I initially called at 12:45pm to see if they could tell me when they would likely arrive and was told that they were taking lunch and were at least half an hour away. When I called again around 1:30pm, I was told they were on their way. After they hadn't arrived by 2pm, which was the end of the window, I called to cancel. I've been told they will call back to reschedule, but I'll be surprised if they do since I wasn't offered the option of rescheduling when I was already on the phone. I would have at least expected an apology for not having a crew arrive during the time frame promised, especially since I had to take time away from work to meet them. Instead, all I received were excuses saying that they can't predict how long earlier jobs might take. Although I understand that, they should at least have planned for the crew to take lunch and not started my window at noon. (Based on today's non-visit, I wouldn't have given more than one star, which is the lowest possible rating.) Additional note: I was called back today and have rescheduled for service in a couple of weeks. During the call, I did receive an apology, as well as an offer for a discount on my next service to help compensate for the inconvenience of the missed visit.

I was willing to pay double for a high quality result, and I got that. However, I was not willing to pay double plus 50% more than that. I will not use the service again due to cost. However, if cost is not a factor to you, I highly recommend this service. I gave it 5 stars because of the high quality cleaning. If I were rating on expectations on cost, I would rate one star. Needed our Cape house cleaned after year long renter moved out. Nobody was in house at the time of cleaning and the house did not need a "deep cleaning". House has 3 bedrooms and 1 1/2 bathrooms. Was quoted a price between $320-$480 as they explained there would be a crew of 2-3 people there between 2-3 hrs and that they charge down to the minute. I indicated to them that the price was steep but said that the most it would be was $320 if the had 3 people cleaning because the house just needed a "once over". They charged my credit card $150 upfront to secure the date of cleaning. Nobody was present for the cleaning. The cleaning day came and went and I was waiting for the invoice to be sent to me. I had to email them to get the invoice. They charged my credit card another $314 without my authorization - total amount $464? I called to complain and told them that it was criminal what they charged. I wanted to know how many people were cleaning and how long did they stay. They indicated that there were 3 people and it took almost 3 hours. I told them that was impossible given the amount of work that needed to be done. They credited me $50 saying that there was an error in the time the cleaning crew reported. I was still overcharged at least $100. This company is unethical. Do not hire them.

I was employed by The Maids in Portland, ME for a week an and a half and that was enough for me. The owner of the company is a complete power monger. Paperwork was fudged, pay is bad and there’s no breaks. They expect you to survive on a couple of T-shirt’s they give you and buy your own clothing for the job. The employees are 20 year olds mostly who think they’re the BOSS. The whole representation of this company is bad. It’s a wonder why there’s consistency in advertising for help wanted. They can’t keep decent help! Do not apply to work here. Trust me!! Also, for prospective clients, they DO NOT do half of what they claim to do. There’s a lot of shortcuts involved, and you’ll pay 180-260$, if not more for a service that’s not being completed. No one follows protocol and if you have REAL wood furniture, it does not get polished, just wiped down with a rag. There’s time limits so there’s no opportunities to actually do a decent job. Speed is a factor just so Sally and Dan Libby can make money off you. You’re NOT getting what you pay for!!!

I hired cleaning service for an overall general cleaning of one level of my condo today: one bedroom, one and a half baths, kitchen, dinette, and laundry. It took four women two hours to complete the job. At first glance everything looked great, but later this evening when I was getting ready for bed I noticed that that master bathroom was still dirty. They cleaned the vanity, shower, and toilet bowl, but the mirror, light fixture, sink faucet, and floor are still filthy, especially the floor around the toilet. I was going to clean it all again myself but after paying $277 I decided to leave it dirty and will call them first thing in the morning to complain. They have two options: come back to complete the job correctly or refund a portion of what I paid them. Guess you need to follow up with a fine toothed comb before letting them leave your home. I probably won't use them again.

I was employed by The Maids in Portland, ME for a week an and a half and that was enough for me. The owner of the company is a complete power monger. Paperwork was fudged, pay is bad and there’s no breaks. They expect you to survive on a couple of T-shirt’s they give you and buy your own clothing for the job. The employees are 20 year olds mostly who think they’re the BOSS. The whole representation of this company is bad. It’s a wonder why there’s consistency in advertising for help wanted. They can’t keep decent help! Do not apply to work here. Trust me!! Also, for prospective clients, they DO NOT do half of what they claim to do. There’s a lot of shortcuts involved, and you’ll pay 180-260$, if not more for a service that’s not being completed. No one follows protocol and if you have REAL wood furniture, it does not get polished, just wiped down with a rag. There’s time limits so there’s no opportunities to actually do a decent job. Speed is a factor just so Sally and Dan Libby can make money off you. You’re NOT getting what you pay for!!!

May sound corny...but this holiday season I am giving thanks for The Maids! This week a team of professional friendly cleaners from The Maids transformed our home by washing floors, counters & woodwork, clearing ceilings webs, vacuuming dust bunnies and dirt from the floors, scrubbing to a shine my kitchen and bathroom tiles (yes, with toothbrushes!!). I tried so desperately to like them even after 6 + months of month after month calling them to remind them that I can't do the later afternoon scheduling and due to my children's schedule I needed to do the early-morning scheduling. Little things were missed here and there but I over looked it. From a cost it got to the point where our cleanings were almost 400 a month and when I called today because yet again they scheduled me for the wrong time frame, I was told that monthly cleaning did not take preference only weekly and bi-weekly customers had preference. I guess spending that much money monthly doesn't mean as much as spending it once a week or twice per month. Never again!

Please read my review and do not use these people! I recently bought my first home from an older gentleman who had not been able to take care of the house for some time and so I requested that the house be professionally cleaned as part of the closing process. So we move into the house and to my horror I find that no cleaning had been done at all even though the realtor had a receipt for $323 dollars from this company. I spent my first weekend in my new dream home cleaning mouse feces out of almost all of my kitchen cabinets, cobwebs off the light fixtures, and dust all over the place. I complained and they offered to do a reclean free of charge which I scheduled, but later had to call back and reschedule with an employee named Karter. Well, to my surprise, no one showed up at the rescheduled time. I called and they said that someone had showed up on the initial cleaning date and that due to this error (and the fact that I had handymen painting and reflooring in the house when they arrived) they would have to bill me for a new cleaning. I hung up before I could lose my temper. I spent my first weekend in my new home instead of being excited and happy cleaning like crazy and up to my elbows in mice poop and spiderwebs while these people profited for doing nothing. Please do not use them and hire someone independent! EDIT: To clarify my review after the owner’s response, I had already cleaned up by myself after the handymen, I just needed help getting final touch-ups for my housewarming party. Also, they no-showed without a call or explanation on the rescheduled date. If they had not wanted to clean after the handymen came through, why not call and say so? Also, why does the realtor’s opinion on the clean matter? They simply had to get a receipt from the Maids to complete my request, not to actually ensure cleanliness for me to live in. I do finally have my house clean so I will not contact the realtor, but if I ever do need cleaning services again, I will not use this shoddy company.

It's been a couple of years now since I hired this company to clean my apartment. I'm disabled, and the apartment needed a thorough cleaning. They were supposed to send a four person crew, but sent only three. They cleaned, a little. Granted, the place is pretty yucky, but the quality of their work was so poor that my landlord was indignant enough to phone them and complain on my behalf. If they respond to this by saying they can't find any record of me in their system, it may be because I unsubscribed from their emails. That, or they're flat out lying. There must be a better cleaning service in this area than The Maids.

I called into The Maids for a quick rental clean that I needed that same day. I was in a real hurry and the young lady must have heard it, since she asked very concise questions to make sure all my bases were covered and she could give me the most accurate answers. All I needed was a clean of a 2 bed, 2 bath up and down and I needed the inside of all cabinets, closets and inside of the fridge done. She said it was very doable and would take something around 1-1.5 hours at their hourly rate. I was skeptical but it was a team of four and they had everything they needed. When I said I needed it today, without missing a beat she said DONE! There was a cancellation and she could have the team to me by mid-afternoon. When the team arrived I let them in and then quickly took off to run some errands. I told them how to lock-up in case I wasn’t back yet and asked that they made it move-in ready for my new tenants. Well I got it and then some. All the wood work, counters, and cabinetry were scrubbed. The chrome hardware was shining and the floors were spotless. I mean looked like new spotless! I could not believe the job they did. They even let me know that a few light bulbs had burned out and needed replaced. One less thing for me to worry about later! This was an excellent service and I will definitely be using them again. The whole experience was professional and just wonderful. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to quickly flip a house or in need of a fresh start.

The Maids is a local business that provides a very friendly and excellent cleaning service. The staff in the office is very helpful and made sure I really understood what I was buying. Since this was my first time hiring a cleaning service and it was for my elderly parents, I had a lot of questions and also did not know what to expect. Each person I spoke with took their time with me and made sure to ask me questions about what my parents needed, had a hard time doing themselves, and what their routine was. The first time I called lasted probably 30 minutes before we even talked about price. They billed by the hour, send a team of four, and come with all the equipment and cleaning supplies needed. My parents' home was quoted 1.5-2 hours for a 3 bed, 2 bath home. We also asked them to clean the inside of closets and appliances (throwing out expired food if they found any), so it needed a little extra time to do. I took the evening to think about it since it was an investment and I had to convince my parents this was a good idea. I called back the next morning and got someone else. However, after giving my name they had my information and we were able to pick right back up where my previous conversation left off. I had just a few more questions and then decided to book the clean. We found a date pretty quickly and I was off the phone in about 10 minutes. They called the day before the clean to remind me of the appointment and to give me the estimated time the team would arrive. It was something around 2 hours they would arrive. The day of the clean, the office called my parents when the team was on their way so they had time to prepare themselves. It was something they just took upon themselves to do; I did not even request it. I was not present for the clean itself but my dad said the team arrived with all their stuff and got right to work. The leader of the group introduced each of the ladies and did a quick walk through to make sure they had everything covered. They cleaned the living room first so my parents had a place to go while they cleaned the rest of the home. According to my dad they were super-efficient and scrubbed every nook and cranny. They took time to even fold some laundry that was just lying over chairs in their bedroom. Once the team was wrapping things up the leader asked my dad to do a walk through with her to make sure everything was to his liking. He noticed a few things and she immediately wiped it up or had a team member fix it right away. He was amazed at how quickly she responded to his requests. The day after their clean, I was called to make sure everything went well and if I needed anything else. They also emailed me the invoice for the clean the same day as I requested. I sent an email back letting them know that it was a wonderful experience and to thank them for all the follow-up. It was a wonderful first experience with a cleaning company and I cannot thank them enough for the relief and job they did. I have their number saved for future reference if I ever find myself in need again.
