Dr. Darrell and Dr. Gretchen are two of the most professional and caring health care providers I know! They take plenty of time to listen to you and to your body. They are encouraging and positive! I've been going to them for more than 8 years and my son received his first adjustment while he was still a baby. My husband also goes regularly and we have all seen great results by allowing Active Health to help our bodies heal and stay on track to our best potential! Dr. D has changed our lives with his knowledge, enterprise, and chiropractic care. My husband and I came in around two years ago with back pain - I ride horses so that is hard on my back and with Dr. D's care, my back is restored. In the summer of 2018, my horse threw me off and I landed on my tailbone and it caused pain for a while and Dr. D was able to help me heal properly. We are pain free and we sleep better, breathe better, and more. I also came in for chiropractic care with Dr. D throughout my pregnancy and this allowed me to have a home birth without medication because he was able to prepare my body for the birth using the Webster method. We brought in our baby girl at 2 days old for her adjustment and she was latching on the left breast without a problem afterwards. I always strongly recommend his practice to my friends who are suffering from back pain, with children that have ear infections/health issues - he is the best!

When I was pregnant with my first, I was in chronic pain for most of the pregnancy due to my body refusing to hold adjustments from other chiropractors. I also went through a car accident at 8 months pregnant, which made matters much worse. My midwife recommended Dr 'D', and within 2 weeks of his adjustments I was a different person. My pelvis and sacrum were in such bad shape that I'm convinced he saved me from a C-section. I'll always be grateful!

Dr. Voll will help you realize your goal of growing older without growing old. He worked within my comfort zone as he has gained my trust. I have experienced the value of taking care of my spine. I followed the recommendation of frequent visits at first, but, as I have gotten stronger, my need to visit is less often. I am a gardener and had become very limited in my ability to garden. I was skeptical when his goal for me was to get me back in the garden. I am now strong and gardening again. If you follow his suggested path, you will improve and be free again. He is very knowledgeable and listens when I explain how I feel. His office is professional and extremely efficient thanks to his receptionist Brooke. (She's the best I've seen!) I am supplied with information about any of my health needs whenever I discuss them. My husband and I started our treatments last fall. We recognized in the Spring that we had less illness and colds through the winter which we attribute to our healthy spine. He is a family man with a beautiful family who live their own advice. I have been to chiropractors for years, but I have received the most success with Dr. Voll. My husband and I both highly recommend chiropractic care and primarily Dr. Voll and Active Health Chiropractic.

I have been seeing Dr. Voll for the last 4 weeks. I’ve suffered from migraines since I was a teenager, with terrible headaches at least once a week. I also have battled with anxiety and depression, and when I came to see him for my first visit, I was at one of my lowest points, health-wise. He put me on a regular treatment plan and I am happy to say that I have had just 1 headache since my first adjustment 4 weeks ago! My moods and energy have improved and are more consistent, I have noticed improvement in my posture, my body is learning a “new normal”, and best of all, I’m learning that self-care is not only OK, but it is important! My 2 year old daughter comes with me to my adjustments and Dr. Voll is great with her and allows her to help adjust me. I love that she is learning at an early age, the importance of taking time to care for yourself. I appreciate that he is always positive and encouraging, and I am looking forward to seeing continued improvements over the next few months. Regular adjustments will be a staple in our self-care routine going forward, for sure!

After injuring C6 in my neck in 2013, And having an adjustment at a chiropractor in central VA. He was able to correct it enough for me to carry on throughout the days, but working in public safety I had re injured my neck several times between 2014-2018. The last time was March 2018 and I came to the conclusion that I was just going to have live with a sharp pain that was in my neck and underneath my shoulder blades, and did so until I came to Active Health in September! Dr. Darrell listened to the symptoms I said I was having and after a few test and a spinal exam, he went ahead with the first adjustment. I’m here to tell ya that it hurt but also felt so good, the relief of tension in my neck and shoulders were lessened and the next day Dr. Darrell called me not only to see how I was doing, but to tell me that he had a whole chiropractic plan for me to correct my old injuries as well to maintain a healthy spine. Here we are 3 months of in of chiropractic care under Dr. Darrell, I have no pain in my shoulders, neck no tingling down my arm to my fingers. I have been able to get back into exercising and I have no worry that I’ll be able to preform at my peak while I’m at work. All in all if you’ve been sore or have back problems I recommend you come to Active Health, I guarantee they’ll be able to help you! To my fellow brothers and sisters In public safety, our work can be stressful on the mind and body, so why not take care of it without all the drugs of modern medicine that just mask symptoms and get to the root of the issue and feel better all around!

I can't even imagine how much more difficult this pregnancy (#4) would be without the gentle, consistent chiropractic care I have received from Dr. Darrell. While I have always had back problems pre-pregnancy (and no chiropractic care), my back felt strong during this pregnancy. The BEST! I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Vol and his office. I am a busy mother of 3 and have worked for years in the nursing field caring for the elderly which has put a strain on my body. I was still in my 30’s but couldn’t stand up straight or walk for long periods with out being in pain. My friend and physical therapist who would try to assist me finally recommended Dr. Vol and I haven’t felt better. He truly cares about your health and is very compassionate. This is an amazing place not only the friendly and smiling faces that greet you but the comforting feeling you get that you are in good hands. Dr. Darrel (Boop)is so easy to talk to and when explaining things he speaks on your level and listens to you. We brought our daughter (which he is great with her and she gets so excited to see him and wants to help with our adjustments too) here after having ties released but in turn we were the ones who needed all the adjustments. I was having issues with leg and back pain and after faithfully seeing him 3x a week for several weeks-I no longer have pain! My wife didn’t realize she had a neck issue until seeing him and she is feeling so much better now. A friend of the family said to me “we align our cars why wouldn’t we align our bodies” and that’s so true-it makes you feel so much better! Long post but hope it helps someone...Football in school, 9years in the Army and all of my adult life working in heavy construction i have not been kind to my body. I first hurt (or could feel the pain) in about 2004-05 and like anyother hardheaded man i kept working through it. As years went on i just figured, like the other men in my family, id just have to deal with back pain. Over the course of about 2years my insurance paid out over $10K in tests, shots, MRIs and physical therapy and an athritis specialist who, after only my 3rd visit, said my spine was so ate up with (ostio-something-litis) which turned out to be not true, that i should check into dissability and the possibilities of me being in a wheel chair by the time i was 50 was very good and there was no need in me comming back because she couldnt do anything for me. Well i wasnt going on dissability so i went back to work for atleast a few more years (i was only 34-35) with what appeared to be a short working future ahead of me. One morning i woke up and the pain in my right leg was so bad i couldnt bend over to put my boots on and it continued to get worse by the day. Thankfully i was a foreman at the construction company i worked at so i had the luxery of getting the guys started and then going off on my own. I did this every chance i got. Id go to some out of the way place, park the truck and get on my knees and lay my upper body across the seat since this is the only way i could get enough relief where i didnt want to scream. The pain was so bad i couldnt sit or stand for longer than 5minutes if i was lucky. If i was in a meeting i would break into a sweat and get so irritated just because someone was talking. The pain was all i could think about. I called Dr. Darrel and told him i was done and if he cant help i was going for surgery. Him and some Dr friends looked at my MRI and found my spine was “S” shaped looking at me from the front and a severly herniated disc L5/S1. My muscles were in constant spasm trying to hold all that together. He promised he could help if i was patient enough to let him. I put my trust in him and this man, my decision was life changing. Not only did he get me functioning again but he would somehow even tell me when i was going to have a bad few days or a good few days. While i did eventualy have surgery for the disc Dr. Darrel got me going and more than that he literaly gave me hope and with every visit gave me reason to keep trusting him and moving forward. Everything he would tell me about what my body would do would come true. I still see him post surgery and will continue to see him as long as hes still in business. As much as i would whine and tell him about my pain im sure i made him feel more like a psyciatrist instead of a chiropractor more times than not. Ive been seeing him for over two years now, fair on cost, down to earth and i honestly consider him my friend.

Dr. Darrell is amazing! First of all, I was scared of going to the chiropractor for the first time in my life. But Dr. Darrell was patient and explained the process every step of the way. Dr. D has made tremendous improvements in my health and quality of life. I was suffering from terrible migraines, anxiety and just not feeling well in general postpartum. After just two weeks in his care I started feeling so much better! I haven't had a migraine now in months, my energy level has improved drastically and I barely ever suffer from anxiety. My 18 month old son has also been in Dr. D's care. He was having trouble swallowing solid foods and was considered "Failure to Thrive" The improvements in only three visits were miraculous. Dr. Darrell Voll at Active Health Chiropractic has introduced me to a world without pain! I previously was a NCAA and Semi Professional athlete for several years. I thought my pains were a product of the stress my body was constantly under as an athlete. However, it has been several years since I stopped playing and the pain was still there on a daily basis. I have seen two other Chiropractors and two general doctors that all X-Ray'd me and told me they can't find any reason for my constant pain. Dr. Darrell Voll was able to pinpoint and actively correct the source of the pain I have been dealing with for over 10 years. After meeting with Dr. Darrell for roughly two weeks, my body feels better than I could ever remember. I feel like a new world of living without pain has been introduced to me. I picked this Chiropractor based on internet reviews. I was skeptical about the whole thing initially, but this guy has really helped me. I am not exaggerating that my neck felt about 15-20 years younger by the end of the first several weeks of treatment. Also a very personable clinician, and really knows a lot. He obviously cares about his patient's and their lives.I am planning on referring my daughter, which I would never do, unless I was fully convinced of the doctor's professionalism and effectiveness.

My family absolutely loves Dr. D and his practice. We have been seeing him on and off for 7 years. The off time is more or so because we are no longer living in this area, but we make sure anytime we are in town we go see him. We go skiing every year at Massanutten and we will drive up for an adjustment. Our most recent visit was this week after a long trip from Germany where we currently reside. I was starting to have or maybe already had an ear infection and after coming in to see Dr. D, I was already feeling like I could hear again. I am sure some of my much needed adjustment was from the amount of traveling I have been doing. Dr. D always takes his time with us and catches up with us. There is no rush and his office always makes time to see us when I say I am in the area. My kids love seeing Dr. D and he takes the time to make sure they feel comfortable with the adjustments. I have yet to find a chiropractor who meets the quality of care that this practice provides.
