6/9/17 I originally went to Dr. Vasko because I had sprained my back steam vacuuming. I had purchased a Groupon to try this place out as I was in immediate need of a chiropractor. After the second Groupon treatment, he did the consultation and made it sound like my health condition was really bad and got me to sign up for the 6 month treatment of $1050 for 25 adjustments. I spent a month going to multiple treatments per week with no improvements and the opposite happened. My body actually felt a lot worse and I was constantly in pain. I had to contact both the doctor and receptionist 5 times. The first 4 times were via phone and neither staff nor doctor took action to cancel my plan and refund me. The receptionist on multiple occasions said she would call to confirm cancellation of the plan but never once did. For my last attempt, I had to come into the office to speak to them directly and get them to cancel my plan and refund me. I had to leave work early in order to talk to them in person and only then did they say they would start the refund process after 2 weeks. It has now been 3 weeks at the time of writing this review and I have STILL not received any refund when they've repeatedly said it would take within 3 business days to be refunded. I requested written confirmation of the cancellation and refund but have not received anything in writing. All I've gotten are verbal confirmations which are meaningless as it's evident that NOTHING has been done to resolve my situation. This place is a total sham. Dr. Vasko charges $42/session for a 5 minute adjustment if you get his pre-paid packages. Each session is 5 minutes max. You're in the office for max 10 minutes average. In each session, he does not even ask how you are feeling that day or where you're having problems. It was obviously clear that he only cared about getting your money and not the welfare of his patients. Please save yourself financially and save yourself from a lot of pain by not going to this practice!

For all the money I paid this guy, one would think that his "adjustements" would help out but boy was I wrong. I had to visit a different chiropractor to find out that John Velasko was adjusting me the wrong way which caused me more pain. I wouldnt trust this guy again and if I could give him a score lower than one star I would.

I have been having problems with my neck for quite a while now, but every time I go and see Dr. John Vasko it immediately goes away and I not only does my neck feel better but so does everything else. Dr. Vasko also listens to everything I say, and is very friendly. He is also efficient with his visits.

I have never posted a negative review. I believe that if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all. In this case, however, I believe that it would be unkind and unethical to not inform everyone searching for a chiropractor in Albuquerque about my experience. John Vasko, in my opinion, should not be in practice. I made the mistake of not taking the other reviewers’ experiences seriously, and I am suffering as a result. John Vasko ignored everything that I had told him about my situation prior to my adjustment, including the pain that I was in, the limited range of motion, my prior injuries, etc. and was so far from gentle I would consider his style violent. After every ‘pop’, I told him that I felt intense pain, and he just kept going. I told him that he even touching my back feeling my spine caused pain and he still popped my back putting a lot of his weight on my spine aggressively with no regard whatsoever to what I had expressed to him. I had never in my life felt as much pain as I felt during that adjustment. Please don’t put your body in his hands. Please. After the adjustment was over, instead of addressing the discomfort that I was expressing to him, he insisted on selling me a treatment package. He held my x-ray results hostage until I went for a second appointment during which I was obligated to watch a video. When I told his staff that I had to attend an event shortly and did not have much time, I was told that the doctor will not see me to go over my x-rays unless I watch the video. The video was meant to scare the patient into buying a treatment package. After John Vasko’s violet treatment, I began having intense hip pain, which I did not have prior to the adjustment and the front of my leg has been numb and burning constantly since 2 hours after I left his office. I called his office the next day to let them know about the pain and numbness of my leg. I received no response. I called again and left another message, and still no response. I had to go for the second appointment to receive my x-ray results and to inform the doctor of my post-adjustment complications. His response: “I probably should have done a lighter adjustment.” That’s all, and he went right back to trying to sell a treatment package. Months later, I still cannot stand for longer than 15 minutes before I feel a sharp pain shooting down my leg and my whole leg beginning to burn and going numb. I now have intense pain in my hip constantly. He not only did not help me, he caused more damage and discomfort, and of a more serious nature. I now have to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars trying to undo the damage that he has caused. A pinched and potentially damaged nerve is a serious and debilitating issue. Please don’t put yourself in a position where you’d regret your decision for months or years to come. My life has been severely affected as a result of the decision to seek treatment from this person. John Vasko in my opinion is a disgrace to the profession and to humanity as he cares most about his financial gain and not at all about another human’s life.

Hurt my back so I bought a Groupon. Then called and was making a appointment then I told the lady I had a Groupon, her whole voice changed and then she said , we actually don’t have anything until later next week. I definitely won’t be using my Groupon as she made me feel horrible for even having one and I definitely won’t ever recommend or go to albuquerque alternative health.

When i first came to the docs office i was a mess i promise you not...i couldn't walk with out my cane get out of bed with out any help even going to the rest room was a challenge... i was scared all the time that i was gonna fall.. Even here at the office, but you know we all try and cover up our fears and flaws... But Dr. Vasko, he just knew from the moment he saw me.. How much pain i truly was in... As soon as he put his talent to work it was the most amazing thing ever... I got up with out fear and walked with out my cane and felt as if i could take on the world... but, he said to take it slow..so i am... But, i kid you not its been 4 months of pain severe pain and today is a good day cuz i don't feel the horrifying pain but, its gone real it is. I'm still scared but i know now i can always come back.. So what im saying is Thank God for Craigslist and God Bless Dr Vasko and his staff... you wont regret it!
